NOT GUILTY!
Posted 12 years agoWhat did we learn?
Not manslaughter. Not murder 2.
Why yes Virginia, even the fattest of hispanics sometimes are NOT GUILTY. The US justice system is set up so in very questionable cases, we err on the side of not ruining the lives of those who may not be guilty. It's the reason OJ walked even.
Also, apparently hoodies aren't bulletproof, and skittles don't turn you into the juggernaut. So beating random guys for the sake of them following you isn't a wise idea.
The real winner though? Arizona Iced Tea (watermelon flavor or not). No seriously, before all this shit, people were protesting it because Arizona was pushing for harsher immigration laws. Yes, the state, not the Ice Tea company. Not like it matters to people organizing dumb boycotts, or the fact that Arizona isn't even made in Arizona.
Around the same time though, Peace Tea came out, basically printed 99 cents, same size, decent selection just like Arizona, but no HFCS. Hipper, newer, less beetus.
Trayvon having Arizona launched it back into liberal sheik. People were going to convenience stores just to get skittles and arizona tea to 'relive' his steps or something. Pretty much saved the brand.
Although nothing makes up for how awful the Shaq soda tastes.
EDIT: I had someone tell me just tonight Zimmerman was an idiot because he was OBLIGATED to flash his gun at Trayvon as soon as they started arguing. Because the purpose of conceal carry is to wave the gun around to intimidate people.
SERIOUSLY WTF?!

Hahaha!
I know, I know! It's Dailyfail, but it's been reported elsewhere, and they're not claiming the FBI gives you cancer. Yet.

I think the part I love the most is this is pure profiling. There's nothing intrinsically bombish about a pressure cooker, apart from it holding pressure. A man walking down the street with a cardboard package, or a backpack or even a stroller is just as likely to be transporting a bomb.

What We're Up Against
Posted 12 years agoIt's not the 90s anymore. While this is a fact seemingly lost on a lot of gun-grabbing politicians, their support groups understand this. Lobbying against gun rights isn't an organization of just the Bradies and a handful of celebrities anymore. The web has given birth to a new kind of organizing, one we're doing right now, but we realize it's not really worth painting up in more elaborate terms here.
They call it 'grassroots', detractors sometimes use the term 'astroturf', but it's usually just a small tax-sheltered non-profit with a well-done facebook page and a more aggressive strategy of going after fence sitters. These sprung up like weeds following Sandy Hook, and a few of them are backed by big dollars.
The big one getting a push at the moment is called Moms Demand Action, and where are some of the other groups have waffled and tried to refocus on background checks, these guys are sticking to the AWB hard. They hired an agency (GREY) to come up with an ad campaign, and it seems like a cross between something the Brady people would pull, and a Cracked list...

The more astute will notice something right off the bat, the child who is holding the gun always stands in the right of the image, and is always white. I don't know if that was purposeful, or if that's just an 'aesthetic' decision, but it seems unlikely that both were random.
The ultimatum-style and fear mongering using children is nothing new, but the tactic is rather bizarre, and probably best shows who these ads are pointed at. It's disingenuous, sure. Kinder eggs are blocked from import by a three-letter agency (sound familiar with Korean M1 carbines?), not banned outright, dodgeball just isn't usually played, and the incident with Red Riding Hood involved just two schools in California. It's in essence, perfectly legal to send your kid out to a playground with a dodgeball, kinder egg and copy of that book. They may be 'banned' in some schools, but those same schools also would have rules about M4s coming inside.
The key though is, I don't know anyone who would look individually at the dodgeball, kinder egg and Red Riding Hood issues and not clearly see that they're just utter bullshit. Kids should be eating candy, dodging balls, and reading books.
MDA seems to be saying. "Our government did stupid stuff, huh? Let's do some more!"
Here's where I think they're not idiots, but purposeful. They're going after hardline 'statists', people who exist in liberal or not flavor who really do not understand the difference between a written into law style federal ban, a moratorium, and one school district's semi-nonsensical rule. Authority is authority is authority, and fear is king. The people in power say what is dangerous for us all, it's unquestionable, and it's our duty as peons to self-police that.
In the Bush years, these were the people the more left-leaning media assured us were the only ones voting for him, terrified and panicky.
Now, those in charge seem to not only understand and acknowledge these people, they actively pursue them. They need that utter lack of critical thinking that when presented with "Red Riding Hood was banned" will not question the absurdity of that, but instead demand the bar be lowered to such a height.
Will it be effective? Amongst the target demographic, very likely, but the question is how large that demographic is, and how few of them remain unsold on the idea of turning all control over to Big Brother.
The only thing certain is the mentality you are up against. This transcends 'liberal' and 'conservative', 'left' and 'right'. You are the freedom enthusiasts against those who would base current policy off a perverse game to ensure consistency amongst stupid decisions by all levels of authority. A rule for everything, and liberty as a tucked-away privilege.

Posted 12 years agoSuper misogynist second-life death robots.
Posted 12 years agoEver see the Mist? Tough shit, I'm gonna spoil it. If you did, you know there's this weird religious chick who goes from being sheltered as 'different' to turning into a cult leader in the post-apocalyptic grocery store. Until eventually someone gives her an 'express checkout' via a hot lead injection. If you're anything like me, you fucking cheered when this finally happened.
She basically makes you hate women and religious types, pretty handily, and it's no secret Stephen King often uses religious types in this way. It's almost a rule that if you find yourself in a Stephen King novel, you might as well just murder anyone cozy with God before they cause shit. I'm sure the man has caught flak for this...
I didn't think anything could be as much an example of wanting to crucify a woman this badly until I watched SyFy's Caprica, which is paced glacially thanks to all the flashback material in it (was it during the writer's strike or something?). That said though, not only does it match the crazy religious bitch character, it has a plethora of them. It's actually so grating whenever anything vagina-bearing in the series mentions God, that you can't wait those 58 years for the fuckers to get nuked.
Seriously, I don't know if it's just the writing here, or my personal take on it, but if it has girlparts (or virtual girlparts) in this show, it's either crazy, or crazy religious. Usually the later. Even after something horrific happens to someone, they advance the plot by saying "Oh, but I HAVE TO DO X, GOD TOTALLY WILLS IT." The shame is the premise of the show is awesome, and I don't really know how they could make it so seemingly misogynist, but you can't go three minutes into an episode without wanting to kick a female in the face.
Thoughts?

It's a-SPARTA-me
Posted 12 years agoListen up fags and faggetes, it's pronounced 'a-sparta-me', no matter what your labia-soft-fingered friends and some whacked out pronunciation guide says.
I hear the correct way to say this sweetener's name is something like 'ass-per-tame', which to me sounds like how Piers Morgan would tongue-fumble through this while gagging on a pair of shriveled old man balls. It's flatly wrong, and disingenuous.
A goddamn MAN pronounces it 'a-sparta-me', because foremost no man should pass up an opportunity to say 'Sparta', and it's clearly a simple enough word with one of those "I'm a chemical name" style '-me' suffixes thrown on the end.
Now, I hear you whining that the company says otherwise, and a masculine approach is inappropriate due to this being most commonly associated with 'diet' products. To this, I counter you with the cold hard facts and a moist towelette so you can dab the sand out of your vagina.
Easiest man-test about anything ever is to ask yourself a question. Do pussies bitch about it? Pussies never bitch about antiquing. Pussies never bitch about solar power. Pussies DO bitch about Aspartame.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspar.....me_controversy
Look at that shit! There's references and everything. People get more menstrual cramps from Aspartame than they do from their uterus eating less than 30 minutes before swimming.
So clearly, bad for my organs, feels good. Man territory. It belongs right up there with tobacco (pronounced toe-back-co) and alcohol (pronounced 'booze') as words that both denote an object of masculine awesomeness AND are badass guttural words in their own right. Aspartame might benefit from a 'co' syllable like those two, but I'm just going for human badass here. We don't need everything to sound like a Klingon curse.
So remember, ask for it with pride. A-sparta-me, and stand up against the thousand nations of the pussy-shit lisping horde who insist you pronounce it otherwise.

The #1 purpose of streaming...
Posted 13 years agoSeems to be for furries to share their tastes in music. Seriously, artistic processes be damned half the time. I've seen people streaming inking, like, on a tablet. They're retracing their own lines, but it doesn't matter because the actual reason they're streaming is to share some ear splitting J-pop (bonus points for being played aloud and heard through their mic) while people talk about Team Fortress or ponies or something on the side.
The worst part, most of the people who feel the same way as me will never see this journal because they're smart enough to get the FF plug-in that automatically hides journals with the word 'stream' in the title.
They may also be missing out on awesome watersports discussions though. Double edged sword and all that.

Attention for assholes (Sikh Temple related)
Posted 13 years agoI think, if there was just one thing we as a society could do to help prevent the spree killer phenomena, it would be to stop media blitzing the jerks who commit these atrocities.
It's a sick mind which kills for no good reason, but even sick minds have motives. The FBI is calling the Sikh temple shooting 'domestic terrorism', but it sounds like a bog-standard racist jerkoff was responsible.
Yet still, they're going to have a press conference at 10am for the jerk. He's dead, we as a people don't need his name, or his face. It serves no purpose unlike if he were say, on the loose. All it does is shows the next potential asshole that the media will give them lots of attention for committing horrid acts.
Instead of his name, I ask if you associate the news you hear of this to a different name; Satwant Kaleka. He was the president of said temple, and died, but reportedly did so while trying to unarm the attacker. That's courage most of us will never know, and the man is a hero who attempted to (and may have) saved lives.
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/08/0.....#ixzz22kaYJb99
I also keep reading on of the officers responding, the one who took down the aggressor, was shot several times in the process. He was alive according to the last bit I read. That man is also a hero, and then some. You may say that's 'just his job', but he still put his life and limb on the line for strangers.
Sikhs are one of the few religions I honestly respect the hell out of. Civic duty, civic virtue really, is a core tenant of their faith. That's a striking rarity in monotheism sadly, were it's more often about converting people and systems to the faith than integrating and serving the secular. Not to say any people in peaceful prayer deserve to be attacked, but it saddens me especially to know it was Sikhs. The few I met are outstanding people.
A lot of blame is thrown around following these types of incidents, but nobody ever really calls the news media out on their need to disseminate information about dead or apprehended shooters like they're rattling off an athlete's stats. It's morbid, and while I do not think the 1st amendment should be breached, a gentleman's agreement to not do this might actually help prevent these crimes by pulling the major motive out of the mix: attention to self or to a 'cause'.
So far, the ONLY media source I've seen the voluntarily censored images of the Dark Night shooter was the Escapist's Moviebob, and while his thoughts on the role (or non-role rather) of violent games/movies influence on these jerks is worth the watch and then some...
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/vid.....ct-Of-Violence
I don't see why that's such an impossible task for the police departments and news media for the nation.
