No promises
Posted 5 years agoSo, I have a few journals in the past saying "hey, I have an idea and I'm gonna start posting" that never really came to pass for a variety of reasons. For example, the most recent idea was about a jester fox in a hard college partaking in various hijinks, both lewd and not. Well, that story and character quickly went in a very different direction with a very different tone. I still want to write it, but due to the nature of the story involved, it's going to take a much longer time to produce, and it's no longer an episodic format...
Anyway, I have sort of a backlog of little pieces of writing with either very little connection to anything else or that wouldn't be considered "Canon" if it is connected to the Raesokera stories I'm working on. I'm not going to make any promises on what or when I'll post anything, but I really do want to reconnect with the community and put SOMETHING out there to share. What I'm going to post here will not be my best. Much of it will be barely any better than rough draft quality. It's my trash pile.
ON ANOTHER VERY IMPORTANT NOTE, some of it will be very dark, stream of consciousness kind of stuff. Please don't start sending messages like "are you okay? Do you need help?" I assure you, I'm fine. Everyone has their bad days, but I promise I'm alright. I'm the kind of writer that sometimes just writes stuff that's dark or edgy without any particular purpose or goal in mind. They're sort of my random daily writings when I'm stuck on a spot in the novel I'm working on. EVERYTHING IS FINE.
Anyway, like I said, no promises on whether or not I'll continuously post, nor on the quality of said post. I do appreciate constructive feedback, but I'll let you know whether or not it's something I plan on ever coming back to.
I love you all!

New writing project/Artists requested
Posted 6 years agoHello, my followers! I realize it's been a while since I've posted any new content. I've been working hard on some serious projects that I want to publish and that has been taking all of my time and focus. However, that has also been wearing on me and I've decided to step back and take a break from it by writing something more fun and casual. I've been needing to work on writing comedy a little bit, so I'm going to start posting parts of a new little series soon called "Fun with Percs" about a fox named Percival who's a student at a bardic academy. He's training to be a jester and he gets up to all sorts of mischief such as replacing the headmaster's favorite wine with "Shahalla Bogapple Vinegar."
"If you're friends with me, you're friends with Percs."
There will also be plenty of room for romance and, gods forbid, smut with the mischievous prankster fox.
I've written the rough drafts of the first few parts, but before finishing and posting them here, I'd love to collaborate with an artist, or more than one artist, to illustrate him. The artist(s) will get the first look at the story and have a chance for input as well as a place in the story! Anyone who's interested can message me here or find me on discord as Rhaze Darvin#8244. Let's have some fun!

Writing continues, I swear
Posted 6 years agoSo, shortly after I wrote my last journal, i started getting sent around to different job sites (since I work construction as an electrician in the greater Seattle area as my day job). I usually use my time in transit on the bus/train to do my writing. However, due to starting times and odd locations, I had to start driving to and from work... There are a lot of details that I really don't want to go into, but long story short, I've had a lot less time to do much writing. It's mostly been a snippet here and there on big projects rather than using any of my limited time doing a writer's equivalent to idle doodles.. I'll share a little bit of some of my projects when I get a chance. Take care everyone!
On writing lewds
Posted 6 years agoSo, I said in my last journal that I didn't want to write lewd stuff anymore. I realize that would be restricting myself from a perfectly legitimate form of art. If my goal in writing is to elicit emotion and inspire, then I can't just neglect an entire genre. So, that being said, I've decided that I'll be writing up smut stories after all. They're not likely to go through as much critique and editing since they'll mainly be a means to continue my daily writing routine to improve myself. That said, many are probably not going to be what you'd expect from me. Some will be darker subjects with heavy sexual themes. Rape, murder, violence, etc... These will not be for the faint of heart. You have been warned.
Return of the Prince
Posted 6 years agoIt's been quite a while since I've posted anything here. I've come back, mostly. I'll be posting short stories here now and then to continue to improve my writing. I'm fairly certain many of my followers are just old profiles that were left behind or forgotten.
I hope to prove to those who are still around that I haven't been idle during my time away. I have been working hard to improve my craft. Phage: Sentience is just the beginning of a new era in my writing career.
I still have a day job. I work full time as an electrician, often overtime as well. I'm married as of January 2018 to a wonderful cute man.
I may or may not write smut again. I doubt it since I'm wanting to take my writing seriously and get real critique from anyone still bothering to follow me. That's not to say there won't be any romance or drama, nor am I a prude! I'm in no way offended to hear "Fuck me harder daddy!" Nah.
Anyway, tldr, I'm back and taking this shit seriously.

My rant to modern art critics
Posted 11 years agoThis Army is Mine
So, I've got this little rant I'd like to get off my chest. It's about what some people consider to be actual art. It just... it drives me nuts when people tell me that if it comes out of a box, it can't be considered true art because all the artistic license is lost.
Some modern art fanatics say game miniature painting isn’t an art. Critics say it isn’t truly a creative craft, because it comes out of a box pre-molded; that most of the work has already been done. They couldn’t be more wrong. It is art. It is moderately guided art, but it is still a work of creativity.
It does begin when the modelist takes that first model out of the box, but that’s where the store bought regularity ends. Their heart drops as they realize how little the clumps of plastic attached to sprues resemble the beautifully painted soldiers on said box.
With clippers in hand and a haphazard set of tools including sculpting knives, super glue, and some “Zap” spray, the artist gets to work. The directions they were given are a mess. “This piece goes where?” “Why can’t I find that piece on the sprue?” “Oh great, I glued it on backward.” Like the painter who has to go back and paint base white over his ruined landscape, the model assembler must cut the glue or start over with a new box.
After hours of trial and error, eventually they have a bland grey plastic model barely resembling the tapestry on the box. The tiny cultist scowls lifelessly at the artist, daring them to slap some paint on it. The modelist cracks his knuckles and picks up the paintbrush. Several tiny pots of special paints, glazes, and technical ooze litter the newspaper coated tabletop.
Just to be safe, they do some research online to find out exactly how to do this sort of painting. After frustrating hours of searching through hundreds of sites detailing their own paint jobs, finally the artist finds a few videos on Youtube giving some tips on painting simple models like the tiny cultist they hold in their hand.
First they start with the black spray on primer. This only takes a few seconds to spray on, but takes about five hours to dry fully. By then they’ve scoured all the different paint schemes online one could mimic with the few paints they took home from the store. “But why not create your own? Surely, there’s room to be more original than simply copying what everyone else is doing.”
Finally, they bring tiny dried black model over to their overly neat shrine of paints. The tiny pot of “Loren Forest Green” stands open. The paintbrush rests in their hand, hovering over the model as they try to decide where to start. “Should I start from the bottom and work my way up, or should I start at the top and let gravity do some of the work?”
They hesitate. “What if it sucks? What if it looks horrible when I’m done? What if the others laugh at me and tell me to play another game with the other new artists?” All this runs through their mind until finally they start to paint. The voices inside go silent as nothing else seems to matter but the model. The paint settles easily into the tiny cracks and crevices of tiny plastic trousers as their paint brush glides over the smooth surface. They feel like a pocket clocksmith bent over the tiny gears and bobbles with tiny tools and a monacle.
Without fail, some of the paint gets in places they don’t want it. Painting at this scale takes a steady hand, and they’ve just started. They grumble and consider giving up, but they remember the modelers online telling them not to worry about some of the paint getting away from them. All that will be fixed with touch ups. They picture the writer sneering at his own work as he skims and deletes this or rewrites that.
Next color up. “Rakkarth Flesh,” a sort of pale skin color adorns the brush and they start to apply it to the body and head. More painting ensues as they apply new colors and get little speckles onto parts they’ve already painted. They go back to touch that up before moving to the next color only to make more mistakes.
After hours of toiling over one tiny little model, they feel ready to give up. They’ve spent literally days over one guy and they still have a whole army to paint. How does anyone ever get this done? How does any artist become a master at their skill. They suddenly feel overwhelmed. They feel like just commissioning someone else to paint it for them. But no, they’re determined to do this. This is their army. They are the master.
After spending what seems like an eternity doing cleaning and touch ups and adding technical layers and washes in all the right places, finally they have some semblance of a completed model. It’s no masterpiece, but its their first. The ugly model scowls behind fleshy and bony teeth as it glares with inhuman pupilless eyes. The dagger and gun they tried to portray as rusty looks more like a sloppy orange paint job. The green pants came out well, though slimy and dirty looking. It’s playable as long as nobody looks too close.
But, this is just the beginning. They can remember mom putting their finger painted picture of the house and family on the fridge under a magnet. She was so proud, and they wanted to make more. Now, they’re at the beginning again but with a more 3D approach.
Some months later, they look at their work and notice they have a full army that they painted alone. The models shriek behind their many spikes, skulls, and plates of armor. Many of it has been sculpted from scratch out of “Green Stuff,” a product of soft plastic that one mixes together to form into a hard plastic cement after some hours of drying. Ghouls, demons, and cultists by the dozen glisten in magnificent putrescence.
This is their masterpiece. Every model is perfect. There’s nothing like the feeling of having a complete army at their feet literally crafted to the exact image they had in mind. This is art as pure as any painting, sketch, or sculpture.
Many great works of art are made with constraints or controls in place to direct the artist. Going by the same rationality that great art cannot come from a box, one would leave out many creative works. Would one consider cooking to be a farce since some of the ingredients came out of a box? What about the home mechanic who built a car on his own with parts that were technically prefabricated? Even the Sistine Chapel was a commissioned work of art that restricted Michelangelo’s creative process. He wasn’t free to explore every possibility and create anything he desired. Is it not considered true art?
Model assembly and painting is art. Go to your nearest gaming store and look inside the displays. Those are not toys purchased from Walmart. Those armies of elves, androids, zombies, goblins, space marines, and so forth are all put together piece by piece and painted painstakingly and with great care. Those beautiful sheens on vehicles are done with love by real artists. I challenge any modern artist to try painting an army of game models.

New blog
Posted 11 years agoHey guys. So, in the interest of getting my work out there a bit more (due to FA being a really shitty place to try and get some sort of recognition) I started up a blog on blogspot. I recently wrote a nonfurry short story called "Doctor Smith" among others, and posted that particular one on that blog. If anyone cares to follow it, it's right here.

I need an animator
Posted 11 years agoSo... I've come to the realization that, despite my desire to be a great writer, the vast majority of my content is incredibly cinematic... visual... with a necessity for music for some of the most major scenes, and a book just doesn't cut it. At the same time, I can't draw/sketch/paint/do anything visual beyond painting WH40k models, and those are already sculpted for me.
SO, I need an animator. A partner. I'm not about to waste thousands of dollars on commissions. No. I have ideas, and SOOOO MANY of them. I would LOVE to find a partner to do comics and/or animated videos to put this story together. Preferably someone in the Seattle area since I live ... well practically there. I live in Bremerton.
If anyone needs someone with stories and ideas to compliment their art/comics/flash videos, or knows someone who does, PLEASE hit me up. Email jwesleyhill88[at]gmail.com

Thailand!
Posted 12 years agoSo... Thailand is awesome. It's hot, and humid, and SOOOOO gay. I've been told how there are all kinds of lady boys and gay culture and such here, but I couldn't BELIEVE how under-exaggerated that was! It's ridiculous! People keep trying to drag me out of the street into a massage parlor and only half of them are women!!! Some of those may not BE women!
Anyway... I got some knockoff Ray Bar sunglasses too. And I have a silk suit being tailored from scratch for a little over $200... that's phenomenal!
I"ll post some pics here at a later date. (I haven't taken very many yet.)
I'll update in the ports I can!

Deployment imminent
Posted 12 years agoHey guys. I figured I'd give you warning before i disappear. At the end of this month, my ship, the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier, deploys to the persian gulf. I can't give dates, but at some point I'll be visiting Bahrain, Thailand, and Guam. The ship will return sometime in October. Unfortunately, that means I'm going to miss Rainfurrest. If you end up going, make sure to give
foxamoorea shout out for me.
Finally, and most importantly, give
bouncesome support while I'm gone. I'm leaving my love behind. Give him all the hugs you can while I'm gone since I won't be able to.
Take care guys! You stand informed! I should have some stories to post when i get back.

Need to edit
Posted 12 years agoSo, as a writer, I need to edit others' work. Critique. SO, since I don't have a lot of friends who write near me, I'd like to critique some writings on FA. If you'd like me to critique your short story(ies), send me a link, or just wave or something here and I'll check out your page.
Now, I want to make one thing clear. I'm going to be brutally honest. I'm going to be VERY brutal. That's not to say I won't say anything positive, but if you feel that anything I have to say to improve your writing would be too scathing, don't ask me to read it. I want to give constructive criticism.
I'm also available to read something you don't want to post on FA. Send me a private message and we can exchange. I'm trying to get some stuff sent to FurPlanet or another publisher, so swapping stories would be a great way to improve.
Anyway, please, tell me if you'd like some constructive help with a story. I would LOVE to help. I love to read. I love to listen. Talk to me!

Birthday
Posted 12 years agoWell, it is now officially my birthday today. Midnight 27Jan2013
I'll be on duty today. I don't think I've had a single birthday since I joined the navy and I've been in for 5 years. Ah well. I'll have another chance next year. Things could be worse.
I've got some new short stories coming up. I'll be writing about a new villain. Kayj. Wish me luck!

Rainfurrest!
Posted 13 years agoHeading out to rainfurrest. God, the hotel is expensive. $1064 for 4 nights. Jeez... Not much money left for play, but the con will be amazing. *crosses fingers* Hopefully I'll get paid on the 28th like I should. And KYELL GOLD! I can't wait to see him again. Gonna get some more writing done. Should I write something more on Jason or move on to some different characters? Seriously, I'd like more feedback than "It's good! I like it!" ^^; I ENJOY constructive criticism. (Note "constructive")
Give
bounce a hug when you see him there. :p And me too. :D

Smut failure
Posted 13 years agoSo, I wrote a new smut story the other day for FA. It was a failure and I don't know if I want to post it.
SO... it kinda went like this, and bear with me.
Wesley the fennec in his younger years as a justicer (yes I meant to spell it like that) goes to a strip club and meets a sulking blue bunny. In an attempt to woo the rabbit, they get into a discussion about the existential crisis of life and the purpose of living at all. Wesley talks about compassion and blah blah blah blah... Eventually they get back to the Rabbit's private room in the back and the conversation continues until the mood is ruined and they end up cuddling on the bed out of principle before falling asleep with Wesley promising only to be around a few days before he must be OFF to do his magic hero thing... Jesus... what's wrong with me? xD
On a different note, is it just me, or does the FA banner look like a cross between jabberjaw and scooby doo?

TMI Tuesday
Posted 13 years agoWhat the hey... I haven't been on enough... So, I figured I'd open up for some questions. Anything goes. ANYTHING (unless is incriminates
bounce in any way... I love him too much.)
Edit: BTW, I haven't posted anything because I've been on the ocean for 3 months, and I've been writing to get published... SO, I'm going to write something short and sweet to post here soon since I feel like I owe my few fans something to prove I've improved my writing skill.
Anyway... ask away! This doesn't have to end today. I'll keep this open for a long while.

sorry
Posted 13 years agoHey, I know I haven't posted in a while. I've been incredibly busy and I'm about to go out on the water. I have a few qualifications to take care of before i can find the time to write anymore, but i have some ideas for an ongoing story about some ... Villainous beasts who revel in death and blood and still manage to be lovable characters. You'll see *wink*

Hilton Reservation for Rainfurrest
Posted 13 years agoSo, I've reserved a room for all 4 nights (26SEP12 - 01OCT12) of rainfurrest, and I believe I'll have room for at least 2 more people, though it's rather expensive. (total is $1062 )
Roomies wanted. Helping pay for the room is requested. ^^;

Commissioned stories
Posted 13 years agoSo, since I won't be posting any more books on here, I figure I'll start taking some free commissions since I'll be ON A BOAT, MOTHAFUCKA!
They're free because nobody pays to have their character written into a story, and I don't know howl ong it will take.
I do have a few rules. It has to be in a setting in my own world (no modern stuff), and it can't be with Rick. Sorry. Rick is off limits for ... personal reasons. Any of my other characters are open, though. It can be anything really. I need to practice romance, sex, and thought processes anyway.
Send me a description of your character and a general idea of what you had in mind. (I would prefer non-hybrid species, but there's always a way).
And yes, ladies, I can make room for you too if you wish, though be prepared for someone who doesn't know female anatomy as well as I should. ^^;

WTF is this? This is illegal! (Edit)
Posted 14 years agoI found a site called faleaks.malicelabs.com that has leaks of notes I've sent to artists on FA that ANYONE has access to. FA must have been leaking information for a damn long time for those notes to get out. That was YEARS ago. I don't know if I want to use FA anymore. That site better disappear soon. Thats just fucked up. This is illegal!
Check it out, folks. look it up, type in your username on FA and see what pops up.
Edit: I overreacted. My bad. Uh... read the first page. It's more of a reminder of what happened a while back. I just didn't know about it until now. *puts foot in mouth* ... Needs honey.

microsoft word problems
Posted 14 years agoSo, i can't seem to post anything I write on microsoft word, and it's driving me nuts. No matter what format I save it to, it either won't show up at all or it'll show up with hundreds of little question marks everywhere. I've copied and pasted to notepad, but that gets all the little question marks too.
Does anybody have any ideas how to fix this issue?
I use Microsoft Word Starter

Popped my furcon cherry
Posted 14 years agoSo, I went to my first furcon ever this weekend. It was FAR better than I could have imagined. I expected to be surrounded by creepy perverts. I was completely dumbfounded at how professional and clean it was! There were adult materials there, but it was handled professionally, instead of some creepy guy grinning across a grimy table saying "wanna buy some porn?" That's more or less an exaggeration of what I had in my mind.
But, even better were the panels! Holy crap, they had panels all day that were specifically tailored for writers! Kyell Gold was there, as well as Jean Johnson... and a few others, I can't remember their names, but one of them was the writer of Otters in Space.
I learned SO much there. I was exhilarated that a lot of the hints and tips and ways to write were things I had discovered by practicing, writing, and reading novels. I was shocked to know how far I had come just by writing a few pages every day!
I also learned some fantastic tips to change my writing forever, such as: NEVER WRITE IN ALL CAPS EVER. There are a few select instances which it's okay, but those are very specific circumstances.
Never use adverbs. Walking quickly = running. Running quickly = sprinting. Adverbs are just annoying to a reader, and a reader will fill in the gaps with their own imagination.
cum = come, unless that's how the character describes the NOUN personally.
I learned how to use dialogue properly! Well... somewhat. I have a basic grasp of how a personality will use dialogue, not exactly what words sound realistic, but I think I'll do MUCH better now.
I learned that I can use the word "said" and SHOULD use it at LEAST 50% of the time. To me it sounded annoying and repetitive, but turns it eventually just becomes invisible in the reader's mind and it's perfectly fine.... huh...
Anyway, Kyell Gold was awesome. Truly a nice guy and very helpful. I wish I could remember the name of the guy I spoke to Saturday morning who wore the purple coat... I'll find out soon enough and edit the journal. He showed up as I wrote my page a day and helped me out on dialogue specifically before the panel even started. Unbelievably awesome. Everyone was so nice. There were no upturned noses. No snubbing. I wanted to cry it was so damn cool. Unfortunately, I didn't have the resolve to give Kyell Gold a hug. I DID however, shake his hand many times, and I purchased his first book I read called "Bridges" so I could get his signature. I highly recommend "Bridges," but please be prepared for some heart wrenching drama. ^^;
This was an amazing time, nonetheless. I entered skeptically and left with a sense of awe and wonderment. I was truly baffled by the kindness, professionalism, and helpfulness of everyone there. If I ever looked confused, someone was there to give support and guide me to where I needed to be or whomever else could help me. I feel so much more enlivened and desire to write more! I will start writing some short stories and submitting them for furry magazines and such. If nothing else, I want to get my name out there for the furry fandom. Maybe I'll even put some things out in Heat some day. :p
