Furthemore 16
Posted 9 years agoIt begins, I'll be at ftm 16 and all that so come say hello if you're attending.
Back from FurMore15
Posted 10 years agoBack from my first furcon. It was needless to say, really fun. It was awesome to finally say hello to people I vaguely or more intimately know on twitter or had heard of here and there. In general, it was pretty awesome to be "Around my people" so to speak. So my end thoughts an opinions.
Yeah they looked a bit short staffed.
Certainly it being pg-13 until 9pm was a bit of a downer.
There could have been more panels and better uses of spaces.
Yeah the fire alarms were a pain in the ass.
But it's only a con in it's 3rd year. It's still growing, and coming into it's own.
It had an awesome dealers den and artist alley. A number of the panels were really awesome and had amazing panelist, some of which i don't think I laughed so hard otherwise throughout the convention. Having the overhead twitter feed was hilarious. So generally it was fun, and I'm definitely going to try to return in future years.

Fur The More Meme (Cause why not?)
Posted 10 years agoSaw someone else post this so I decided to co-opt it and do it myself.
Where are you staying?
At home (Because when one lives close enough to commute and doesn't have a suit, sometimes it's much more convenient to ride the metro.)
When will you be arriving and leaving?
Not decided yet, but methinks I'll get up at 7:30 that week and leave by 8:00. The exception being Saturday since I have class and have no idea when I'll be able to get there.
Who will you be rooming/hanging with?
Local friends and whoever I we manage to hang with or meet. Though Cawyeena, sparf, glow mew, and a few other are definitely on my list.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Meandering about and going to panels mostly, and maybe chasing suiters and artist. May wind up at tyson's at the end of the day.
What/where will you be eating?
right bring lunch, might go out to dinner at tysons.
Will you be having a room party?
Not likely, but I might partake a few If the mood strikes me and invitations are provided.
Can I talk to you?
Always. Just come shout out and saw hello. Just don't pounce and gloom me because I'm not keen on hospital visits.
Can I take pictures with you?
Certainly.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Probably. Just don't expect us to pay for your food, unless we offer.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Joe, Raveyote, Coyote, Yote… I answer to those.
Do you do free art/trades?
Not usually, but we'll see. I intend to bring my sketchpad and supplies so perhaps I will.
Do you have a table in the Artist Alley / Dealer's Den or a panel in the Art Show? If so, what are you selling?
Not this year folks.
Do you do commissions?
Yes, but on a limited basis.
Do you plan to volunteer?
Who knows. I might wind up helping random folks. Tends to happen one way or another.
What's your goal for the con this year?
Enjoy it best I can and meet new people. Especially local folks. First con and all that.
And that's all folks.

Note to those wishing to find my skype
Posted 11 years agoI am extremely sorry to those who have attempted to obtain my skype in the past and were unable to. I only recently realized the information I had put in my contact box was incorrect. This has been rectified. Don't be afraid to say hello if you've been meaning to.
So I have an F-list now.
Posted 11 years agoStill populating it with data but the more significant stuff is there for the most part.

Anyhow, Life's been busy, what with college and all, it's been difficult to get any art done amongst the procrastination on twitter, and all the homework I've also got to do.

Please excuse my inactivity.
Posted 11 years agoFor those of you still remotely interested in my account, you've probably already determined that it's usually marked by long periods of inactivity because of school, and life abs other things. This can make things rather droll on my part, and thus I would like to apologise for that. In the meanwhile, however, I will soon be procuring more works to throw in my collections and scraps, as I have had a few sketches here and there, but any noticeable or sizeable works are still as it were "in the works"
Thusly, I thank those of you who do take notice, for your sizeable patience or understandable probability of not reading this journal. Thusly, I bid you all adieu until later this week when I actually do get to posting the curiosities and tidbits of my work.

A change of gear perhaps.
Posted 11 years agoLately I've been feeling rather bothered… rather down. I suppose it'd be attributed to any number of factors and any number of contributing effects (most likely insufficient daylight and stress associated to attempting to keep on top of my grades), however, I've decided to perhaps change things up a bit. Make more art and improve my skills in that area. Quit with my less than unsavory behaviors, and start towards more fulfilling and certainly more rewarding ones to fill their void. Get back at metal working and smithing (p'raps you'll see a steel coyote sooner rather than later). Quit my decadent lifestyle in favor of a more appreciable and certainly more amusing roll as a mad scientist, or inventor, or as the appropriator of my grand underground schemes. Nonetheless I hope to make some changes: both behaviorally and physically and perhaps make good on my old plans.
In the meanwhile, lately I've rather been de-motivated by school, and thusly this snow day appears to be the perfect opportunity to make up the lost time and effort. Additionally these past months have been rather busy… but have yielded result:
This past Saturday, I won an award at the regional level at our schools' chapter's first rally. We won two awards, however, I was responsible for our only first place award, which was concerning the discussion of science and technology issues.
Earlier this year I also won at regional scholastic art and writing awards, I managed to bag two gold keys, a silver, and an honorable mention, bringing me too a total of 4 golds, 1 silver, and 2 H.M.'s which isn't much, but I'm too happy and too grateful to complain.
Lastly, I 'tended Katsucon 20 this year which was a rather pleasant break from the usual. Certainly not on par which a furry convention, but it was a much needed reprieve all the same. It started off rather slow, but got pretty fun after a while. Towards the end I rather regretted not attending more than just the day, as I had met some awesome folks, and finally promotes my status in this wonderful community to: semi/sideline lurker… an improvement. (One I fully intend to get above once I stop being a lazy arse and actually get a life out of the humble and stagnant confines of my work and school routine!) Thusly insofar… though this year has been cold, grueling and rather emotionally unsatisfactory… so far it's been pretty good.

Void previous journal.
Posted 11 years agoSo yeah. Katsucon 20 was pretty awesome! Awesome furry folks I met while there. All that jazz.
Because of all this drama I'm off to weasyl away
Posted 12 years agoNo really though, I'm Making weasyl my mains account because DA doesn't work very well on my machines, and all the nonsense and humbuggery going on creating this drama fest is really not worth my investiture of time here, ergo I you like my art and you use weasyl, then you can find me at https://www.weasyl.com/~raveyote
Not to make a big deal about it or anything. Plus I'm tired of reformatting my user icons.
But if you really need to get in contact with me I'm still on twitter and DA too.

Since this meme has been floating around...
Posted 12 years agoFursona Meme
What made you choose the species of your main fursona?
Well surprisingly or not I was not always a coyote! (Duh Duh Dun!)
No actually I drifted around being different canines for a while until finally settling on coyote. I stuck with it because it was the most analogous to my own personality and behaviorisms (in hindsight maybe too much if you compare me to mythological coyotes of Indigenous American mythology.)
Is your fursona just like you, or how you want to be?
Kinda a little of both actually. He is what I want to be, but also he is the embodiment of my own personality on the internet too. Ergo, I end up becoming more like my idealized character and thusly through my character I end up improving myself. Iteratively in a way.
Does your fursona have the same personality you have?
Pretty much... not too much of a difference there... though perhaps a little more spastic than I am on
average.
Does your fursona have the same dislikes and likes as you do?
Yeah, not much of a difference there either. Though I tend to be a little less focused than my own character when it comes to interest. He's more focused than I am, since I'm all over the place haha.
Does your fursona look like you at all?
Depending wether or I decide to give him hair, yes. He looks more like me when I give him hair, but he still looks kinda like me based on facial features like the goatee, raggedy eyebrows and the like, and of course facial expressions and clothing choice.
Is your fursona the same gender as you, if not why?
Yes., as theres not particularly any reason why I would present myself as an opposite gender of my present gender, as my character is an embodiment of myself to the internet and a degree of a spiritual connection to my spirit animal which by happenstance is also a coyote.
Do you have more then one main fursona?
Not presently, no, however, that is subject to change if I change my mind, though at the moment it's enough just refining the looks and characteristics of one character.
Do you have a back story for your fursona, if so does it have anything to do with your own history?
Kinda yes and no. I do, but only because it's developed over time from when I used to RP through him back in the good old days of two or three years ago.
Is your fursona mated, if so is it to your real life significant other?
I'm going to decline to comment on this one at present.
If not are they looking for a mate, or are they a swinger so to speak?
Uhm, I'm going to say no to this one.
Is there something special about your fursona that you think sets them apart from others?
Well depending on whether or I stick with the moniker Raveyote, and the fact I used to preside over a few projects in Minecraft SMP, by the Title "Lord Undermayor Joe, the Raveyote." I'm not really sure... then again it's good, sometimes, to be a member of a larger group such as your respective species.
Do you have much art of your main fursona/s?
Other than what I myself create, not particularly.
Would you ever consider parting with your main fursona, if so why?
Never... I am him, and he is I... we may change in appearance and personality, but we are one and the same in a sense.
If you suit, do you have a suit of your main fursona?
I hope to suit one day as joe, and have every intent to move forward and have a suit commissioned or made by myself. But as of yet, nothing more than a foam head exist of him heheh.
Have you ever roleplayed with your main fursona, or do you prefer not to?
I actually enjoy role playing as my character, although lately I haven't had the time to enjoy that small luxury, though in the coming years I intent to correct that. Especially once I complete my college course work.
Do you consider your main fursona to be a part of you in any way?
If not obvious in the statements above, then yes, very much so.
And I believe this is the end of this meme... I plan on doing more in the future as they come to me and pique my interest. Until later!

Posted 12 years agoTo those who draw concern
Posted 12 years agoFriends, watchers, fellow artist, and whoever else may be reading, greetings.
As of late I've been rather "disappeared" as it were. I've been gone, disconnected, disengaged from the rest of the world to whom I do owe at least a report of the circumstances. I will not however entail the specifics of why, other than it "did." Though reason enough, you very well will question.
As of 3 months ago (or thereabouts), I was suspended from access to my primary means of communication to the outside world, in other words I have been deprived of my tablet, phone, and other means of wireless access to the internet, and left to be. Up until recently I have maintained my promise of abstinence from the digital world, made by means of verbal contract to stay off my frequented social media venues and so forth. Today I ended my part of the bargain prematurely. Firstly, because it was a rather untidy mess left behind by my sudden and unexpected uprooting from the firmament of the internet culture I associate and identify with. Being rather uncharacteristic of me i decided it must be righted at the first opportune moment. Secondly, because of the gracious good natured concern of my friends and confidantes, at which my general lack of response from the aforementioned avenues of comunique was reason reason to be concerned. Thirdly because I have every intent and desire to return in good terms with those that in my absence I have missed greatly. And lastly because, I have been aching to return back to those places whereupon I could confide my latest and greatest feats and my lowest and darkest mishaps with clarity and brevity to those of whom would lend a listening ear. Alas I am still in this undesired and fitful darkened exile.
Soon enough, I shall return.
Soon enough, I shall recommence.
Soon enough, I shall revel, once and upon again.
But for now, this is a prompt and sadening, adieu.

New supplies in! (And other related news)
Posted 12 years agoSo here's this weeks update!
Been busy lately with IB art year one homework (when am I not?) and a whole dang lotta other things but I've just received in a new shipment! It's beautiful! I've just received a fark ton of screen printing supplies! I mean dayum this stuffs gonna last me at least a few months! In addition to that, spray paint, customary blue art tape to accompany it, Manila folders, fabric mesh for fursuit construction, AN ALUMACOLOR 2 FOOT STRAIGHT EDGE (they don't come cheap.) and tons of other fun stuff… like ink, ink, ink, oh and more ink. (Fun stuff actually, especially in accompaniment with pigment liner pens and comic board.)
Meanwhile progress on the fursuit construction has dropped to a standstill due to my lack of a rather vital component… Green reupholstery foam… it's surprisingly lacking in local retailers… ergo to the dreaded Internet shopping.
That's all that's new I can think off the top of my head for now…
Check out my twitter for other randomness, updates, and Yotie Shennanigans. (@comradejoe2) relatively SFW.
