Need help with a website
Posted 11 years agoHey so I know a lot of furries and stuff are html savvy and such and I was wondering if anyone could help out with this website I'm trying to design. I have no idea what I'm doing.
Basically, I need a site for my real estate photography. Real estate agents who need a photographer for their newly listed properties will be able to log on to check out some examples of the work I've done, select what dates/times they want a photographer, what kind of photo package they want, etc. They pay for it and everything on the site and then I'll get an e-mail with all the information including where I have to be and when.
I've looked at a few, like, diy webstores but they all seem to be oriented towards selling products and not services, nor do they do the e-mail me the photoshoot info/dates thing.
SO yeah if anyone with some website experience can offer me some wisdom or if I can just throw questions at you that would be awesome. Thanks!

Opinions on dance competitions cuz everyone else was.
Posted 12 years agoIf I was going to run a dance comp here's how it would go:
Points don't mean anything.
Judges are there to entertain the crowd.
It would be very much like Who's Line is it Anyway in which the whole point of the show is fun just for fun. Dancing is for fun, judges are there to make funny comments and keep the crowd laughing, points can be awarded for anything and the winners don't really matter. People in the competition are doing it because they want to dance and it has nothing to do with beating anyone, which, I think reflects the state of the dancing community and dancers who enter the competitions currently. They enter for fun. Judging doesn't matter.
On that note, I think the way the comps are run currently is fine for a competition. The judging seems fair most of the time, they operate smoothly and do a good job of doing what their doing. Nowhere in this journal do I want the reader to get the impression that I think they are run anything but professionally, it's just that I'm just not a fan of unnecessary competition in general. I don't see the point of putting people up against each other especially when there's nothing to win, really. Like. That first place award could go to anyone and it would have just as much meaning as it going to the one who "deserved" it. It's not like there's anything at stake if someone less skilled gets the prize so why does it matter to have one at all? Maybe that's just cuz I'm generally non-competitive, but I dunno it just seems indulgent to me.
Lastly, Everyone who enters that I know personally would do it whether it was a competition or a exhibition. They just love to perform. So if we're going to have judges and make it a competition for some reason, I feel like the judging should be the smallest part of the show itself. Having the judges make comments that last as long or longer than the dance itself is just dragging out time. FWA did it great. They had usually 1 judge make a one-sentance comment, and moved on to the next performer. It was about the dancers, which is why people come, and why the dance comps have grown to be such a huge, huge event at cons. People want to see talented dancers do their thing. That's what the competitions should be about, that's what the focus and time should be dedicated to. In my opinion.
LAST LASTLY, how fucked up is it that at ⅔ of the biggest convention dance competitions this year the judges were placed on the stage. There's just something wrong with that lol.
I dunno I don't know anything about dance competitions or how they should be run. I like to dance, and like to think I'm pretty good at it, and I've participated in both floor wars and fursuit dance comps so I think my opinion should count for something, but I'm just a dude. And it's not really worth going out of my way for and starting some big campaign to change, but as long as everyone else was sharing, I thought I would too.
And if you're complaining about being intimidated or feeling like the "dancerfur" community is too "cliquey" for you, fuck. that. Dance because YOU want to not because you want to make friends. That's all I gotta say about that.
Sorry for jumping into this drama boat but fuck idk sometimes sharing your opinion can help things move forward in a good way. Maybe this will help future dancers in some way. I dunno. I figure it can't hurt to share.

Posted 12 years agoPeople are leaving shouts/tweeting/etc as if the contest is won. The way it works is everyone in the top ten is judged, 1 gets a grand prize, 3 get runner-up prizes. Having 9k+ votes DEFINITELY WON'T HURT, but, don't celebrate just yet folks!!
Although, if you ask me, knowing that we can accomplish something like that is winning already. No matter what the results, I am humbled to know we can come together like we did, :)

Posted 12 years agoFirst off, I want to say thank you. Each and every one of you have done something incredible and moved our ranking from zero to number fucking one in less than a week. This is more than I ever imagined or could hope for. As far as I'm concerned, we've already won because I have people like you backing me up. All of you have played an important part in this, whether you've voted once-a-day, or even once at all. It all means something and in the end will contribute to staying in the top 10 until the judging starts. We've got a long while to go before judging begins, but if we can keep up what we've started, by the time May 13th comes around and voting closes, we should be far, far ahead of the other entries. If you want to help even more here's some things you can do:
1. You can vote ONCE A DAY, meaning you can help me out by voting every day from now until the contest closes, on May 13th. Put a reminder in your calendar or something to make sure you don't forget!
2. Repost this/share it/tweet it/etc. Sharing seriously helps!!! The more people hear about it, the more they can share it, etc. Who knows who your friends know?!
3. See the first thing in this list!! It's seriously the BEST way to help me out. One vote a day from the date this is posted till May 13th would mean 76 votes.
