Live Long And Prosper, my old friend.....
Posted 10 years ago*sighs* Idk if you guys heard the news, but Leonard Nimoy passed away this morning, due to complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Leonard Nimoy is one of my favorite actors, and his death greatly saddens me. You see, like most of you, I grew up watching Star Trek. The adventures they went on fascinated me, and Spock just seemed to be the rock that the crew clung too. He was the touch of logic in an illogical situation, and would always give an outsider's opinion on things. Cause that's what he was: An outsider. He was the lone Vulcan on a bridge full of humans. And I think that's why we all loved him.
He took that spark of being a loner, and twisted it in such a way that we all came to love him. And then the cold, yet often humorous, way he interacted with the crew, it made him all that much more lovable.
Idk exactly where I was going with all this, but I know I'm going to have trouble typing here in a minute. Just thinking about how Nimoy has touched my life in such an strong way, and how it seems I've gone on hundreds of adventures with him, just has me ready to break down in tears. *sniffs*

I guess it's safe to say, Leonard Nimoy fulfilled his own prophecy: He did indeed "Live Long And Prosper". He lived to be a ripe old age of 83, and has fueled the hearts and minds of countless generations.

Posted 10 years agoWell, if you haven't recognized the quote in the title of the journal, then you don't know what movie I finally bought/watched. I finally watched Big Hero 6 for the first time today, and I just have to say, the movie was awesome! I don't want to give away any spoilers (in case you guys haven't seen it yet), but I do want to say a few things about it. First off, the animation was amazing. Secondly, I was very surprised by the story. It made me feel a bunch of different emotions throughout the whole film, and kept me on the edge of my seat. And thirdly, the previews do NOT do the movie justice. The movie is WAY better then what the previews show (which that right there is a feat in itself!).
OH! AND ONE MORE THING: After you guys watch it, watch through the end credits. There's a secret ending at the end of the movie, and it is totally worth the wait to see it!
And now, onto the update: As you know, I recently just broke my rib this last weekend (journal here if you don't know). Well, it's been a week, and it feels like it's healing nicely. I have hardly had to use my pain meds at all, and I am just getting twangs of pain here and there (mostly when I belch, cough, or move in a certain way). I have been taking it easy, and doing just light projects around the house to keep me occupied.
Also, I've been working diligently on getting Dead Bite Studios set up at my new place, and I now have it all set up and ready to go. I'll post pics of the new set up as soon as I can, and, as soon as I get one bit of fabric I'm missing, I'll be working on my first project already! I can't wait to show you guys, I've got big plans for the little guy I'm making. And I know a few of you will be dying to get one of your own. lol
That was a fun trip to the hospital. At least it was quick.
Posted 10 years agoI've been having pain in my side for a few days now, and I didn't think it was a big deal. I just figured it was a pulled muscle from moving some furniture the other day. Well, today the pain got so unbearable that I had to go to Urgent Care at the hospital. So I called my dad (while I was in tears >.<), and he came rushing over to my house to pick me up, and then he took me to the hospital. We went through all the check in, and I got a few x-rays, and finally the doctor came back in with the verdict.
I wound up breaking my 9th rib. I still don't know how I did that, but the doc and I think it was from me coughing so much (I have a chronic cough caused by acid reflux). So now I'm forced to take it easy. I can't lift over 30 lbs, I can't reach over my head, and I can't reach below my belt. And it'll take at least 6-8 weeks for my ribs to heal. Which means that I'm out of commission for two months. Good thing I'm currently unemployed. xD
So yeah, I'm a sore wolfy atm, but I'm doing well. I had a shot at the hospital that's working wonders right now, and I got a prescription for pain killers, so I might just be able to survive this. The doc did give me fair warning though: He said that the first two weeks of recovery are excruciatingly painful. Yay me, huh? xD
Well, I'm currently unemployed, but it's not a bad thing....
Posted 10 years agoYeah, that's right. Atm, I am currently unemployed. And it is by my own choice too. I had a little incident with my former boss a few weeks ago, and it led to me putting in my two weeks notice.
I did leave on good terms, even extending my two weeks notice by four days while my former boss was in the hospital (he had congestive heart failure, but is doing fine now though). So both my former boss and HIS boss said they will give me really good recommendations at my next job I apply at, which is always a good thing.
For now though, I'm enjoying being unemployed. While I was working, I couldn't get jack shit done around the house. Well, since I left work on Sunday, I have gotten more work done in the last four days then I have in the last three months! lol I even got Dead Bite Studios moved to my new place, and am currently working on setting it up (needed a breather, hence why I'm on here. lol). I also got my entertainment room fully set up, and also cleaned/rearranged my bedroom a bit, freeing up some extra room.
Now, before you ask, I didn't just quit for the hell of it. Yes, I needed to get out of that job really badly, but I also quit because I plan on moving out to California in a year or two. If I stayed at my old job, I would have had to take several years to save up before I moved (I was at $8.60 an hour). However, if I get a factory job, I'll be able to make $9.00-$11.00 an hour starting wage. Plus it'll full time, 40 hours a week. I did also sign up with a temp agency, so atm, I'm waiting for them to call me back.
Well, I do believe that's all of my major updates for the moment. OH! And now that I'm off, I'll be making some things in Dead Bite Studios as well! I'll let you guys know when I have it done. ^^
Alright, NOW that's it. Wish me luck at getting a new job! ^^

Hmm, should I make a new account?
Posted 11 years agoI've been thinking about this for a long time, and Idk what to do. You see, I really have no attachment to the name rawnblade23. It's just a username that I've been using for years, and so I used it here. However, the name I mostly identify with in the furry fandom is Raythe. I was thinking about making a new account with my username along the lines of Raythe, Raythe23, RaytheDarkfur, etc etc, to reflect my name better. Frankly, I'm getting sick of being called "Rawnblade" or "Rawn" or "Rawny" (I have heard more, but that's all I can think of off hand).
So I'd like to know what you guys think. Should I switch to an account name that would better reflect who I am? Or should I just stick with Rawnblade23, since I'm already established under that name? Also, how many of you would continue to watch me on that account? (This is why I wish FA would take a page from DA's book, and allow you to switch your username)

Hey, can anyone help me find a winged artist?

I'm looking to commission an artist to do a pic of Raythe with his new wings. I'm willing to spend between $10-$40 on this, but that's the extreme I can do atm (this will be my last commission for awhile, as I'll be between jobs soon). Also, I'd like the pic fairly quickly if it's at all possible.
So if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! I'd love to see who my watchers would recommend, and who knows, I might just find a few new artists to watch! ^^

Posted 11 years agoI'M ALIVE! I FINALLY AM BACK TO THE LAND OF THE LIVING! xD
I'm sorry I've been so quiet the last few days, but, right after FC, I came down with a nasty flu, and have been bedridden for most of it. And it was bad too. I was actually hallucinating for most of it, until my fever broke! That was messed up! xD
Anyways, I'm feeling much better now, but I fear I have fallen behind on my promise of pics from FC! I am really sorry for that, and I'll be posting those on my next day off from work, I promise! Oh, and I hate to admit this, but I'm also behind on my christmas cards. xD I still plan on sending them off, but I have to finish the surprise that goes inside them first. So I apologize for the long ass delay, but it's worth it, I promise!
Some of the bad news aside, time for some good news! I went to FC a single wolf, and came back with a mate! That's right, 
and I are now dating! I asked her out and she said yes! I'm so happy! ^^ The only regret I have about asking her out is that, atm, I'm in Wisconsin and she's in California. But hopefully we'll fix that within the next year or so. ^^
And because of her being my new gf, I decided to change Raythe up a bit to reflect that. Raythe will now have a set of big black wings on his back, with a hint of red along the bottom. I'll be updating his ref sheet as soon as I'm able to reflect that. ^^
*sighs* And now onto some bad news. Due to an incident at work (I don't want to give details, just know that it was stupid and petty on the company's end), I might be facing termination. Well, thanks to this incident, I realized that the company doesn't value me as much as I thought, and so, I decided to get the jump on them. I'll be putting in my two weeks notice at work today, and then I'll be getting factory work in the meantime, as a way to save up to move to California. I figure that if I can save up $10,000 in two years, that should be plenty to get me out to Livermore, CA, and settled in. Wish me luck on that guys! *crosses fingers*
I do believe that is everything atm, and now you know. And knowing is half the battle! (I think red and blue lazers are the other half of the battle, I'm not sure) xD

Posted 11 years agoI'm finally home! I had a blast out there, and got to hang with my pack in person finally! It was SO much fun!
I did miss out on quite a few panels, but I bought a shit-ton of stuff at the Dealer's Den, and did manage to catch two panels, so I think that made up for it. xD Otherwise, the con went amazingly, and I just felt at home there (even though the whole thing passed in a blur).
I want to send a shout-out to my pets,
misheru-san and star11, as they made this first con experience one of my best ever!
OH! And I also got to meet one of my idols there as well! I happened to run into
beastcub in the hallways (she was in suit), and so I got to compliment her in person (which I think made both of us smile). xD
Ok, besides that........OH! I got LOTS of pictures, and I mean A LOT! I, alone, got about 300 pics, and Rue and Selene got even more. So I might just pick my top three favorites, post those here, and then link back to the rest. If you know anyone who's in the pics, just let me know, and I'll try to tag them the best I can. ^^
OH! ONE MORE THING! I got one of my dreams to come true! I've always wanted to try a fursuit, just to see what it's like. Well, Rue had made a suit just for FC, and so she let me try it on in her room. I then proceeded to joke around and make her laugh, and I had such a good time with it.
And that leads me to my other announcement! Thanks to that experience, I will be getting a partial suit of Raythe from Rue! I'll be paying her within the next few days, and, hopefully, in a few months, Raythe will be running around, terrorizing a con near you! And then, hopefully within a year, I'll have a second suit! I talked to
ritz_bitz about getting a fullsuit from her when she reopens, and she was super excited about the idea. So I'll be trying to commission her asap as well! ^^

Posted 11 years agoWell, I made it safe and sound, and I'm currently chilling in my room at the San Jose Marriott. I'm also fully registered for FC, and it went SUPER smoothly. It only took about half an hour to get through the line, which I thought was pretty damn impressive!
My flight went well on the way here, and I only got slightly nauseous while we were landing. Other than that, it went smooth as a bell.
And then I got greeted by an awesome sight when I got off the plane! My pet was there to greet me as I stepped off the plane! I got a big hug from her, and have been nigh on inseparable ever since.
Right now I'm just relaxing in my room, since all the festivities don't start till tomorrow. If any of you guys are here as well, shoot me a note here! Let's try to hook up, as I want to meet as many furry friends as I can! I'M OFF TO FC!!!

Missing cat update: he's back!
Posted 11 years ago Midnight is back! I just brought him home! ^^
I had set out a live trap last night with some wet food in it, and I went to check it this morning, and there was Midnight! I'm so happy!
He's a bit skinnier, a bit bushier, but all in all, is very healthy with no scratches or cuts of any kind. I brought him in and he was rubbing my legs and purring, and would meow every time I said his name. I think he was as happy to see me as I was to see him! ^^
Missing Cat Update!

Well, I have a bit of good news! We have not caught him yet, however, he is snooping around the house, so he's still in the neighborhood and safe at least! I saw him once by the corner of the house early on New Year's Eve, and then my friend saw him a few hours later by our garage. Both times he ran away as soon as humans approached him, so we think he's really scared atm.
I borrowed a live trap from my step-dad, and I put wet cat food in it tonight, so hopefully that will draw him in. HOPEFULLY, there should be something in the trap tomorrow (as the food can be smelled by humans from across the yard, so a cat should smell it even farther away). I hope that something is Midnight! *crosses fingers*
I also gave out flyers with his picture, description, and my contact info on it, to all of the neighbors, so hopefully that helps too! I have eyes and ears on almost every block for a three block radius.
I just hope I can get Midnight back before I leave for FC. I really don't want him still missing by then. *sighs*

Posted 11 years agoI'm super worried. We can't find my cat Midnight anywhere. We searched the whole house top to bottom five times trying to find him, and we can't. We figure he snuck out some time after noon yesterday, but we just don't know. I am going to be typing up flyers to go around the neighborhood with, to see if I can't find him that way.
*sighs* I know he'll be fine, because he's an extremely smart and resourceful cat, but this is his first time being out on his own (he's been a housecat his whole life), and I'm just worried and missing him.

Posted 11 years agoI was leery about doing this this year, only because my budget is EXTREMELY tight, and so I may not be able to get anything for anyone else. v_v
But, I do know a few of my friends are wondering what I'd like for Christmas, so I'll do this, and, if I can, I'll try to fulfill other people's wishes as well.
CHRISTMAS WISHLIST:
Rules:

Just make sure the wishes are what you really honest-to-god want.
If you wish for real life things, put contact info somewhere in yo shit.

As a few of you already know, I just moved recently. My sister bought a new house, and she invited me to live with her, which I took her up on. I've been in transition for awhile lately (mainly waiting on supplies for repairs before I moved in), but these last few days I kicked it up a notch, and am now living at my sister's place.
Well, today, I unpacked all of my pictures and dreamcatchers. I was super worried that I couldn't get my room the way I wanted to, and that I'd be forced to choose between what pics I wanted to hang up. Well, not only was I able to get all of my pics up that I wanted to, but I also have extra room to hang more pictures up as well! AND! I was able to get all of my dreamcatchers hung up in all the right places! I am super happy about this, since it's now making this room feel like "mine", if that makes sense. xD It made me so happy that I was actually tearing up from happiness. ^^
And now, a head's up about the cards and art: Due to problems outside of my control (AKA, being broke. xD), I can't send my christmas cards until after christmas. I apologize for that, but, eh, life sucks. SO, I'm going to wait until my next paycheck, and then send off all of my cards right after christmas. That also includes all the art that I owe as well! I'm going to work on that art all day Monday, and I should (hopefully) be noting people for mailing info!
I think that's it for now, and thanks again everyone who asked for a card and participated in the raffle! ^^
