I got a big surprise this week: I'm moving to the big city! I've been trying to do this for years and I finally got approved for low income housing in a place with much better public transit, a big blind community, and so much I've been missing here in my rural city.

As of now, I need to raise enough money to cover the deposit, first month's rent, rent on my current place, and a UHaul, and I need the bulk of it by December 1 when I have to sign the lease papers. In just a couple days people have met more than half that goal! But I completely forgot to post here. This might put a dent in my plans to get more commission backlog work done since I've got about three weeks to pack everything I own. o_o Then unpack it, move all my medical stuff, get oriented to my new city (though I thankfully spent time there last year while I was at a training center), and soooo much more. Although I have hopes that living somewhere that allows me to participate in community will help rejuvenate my creative drive.

Huge thanks to everyone who is helping out with this! On Monday I was in tears, feeling like it was impossible because I just don't have the money. Now I'm getting to move somewhere that will allow me to be a part of my family again and connect with the kind of community I haven't had in over a decade. Hopefully that will mean some local furries. I miss getting to go to little furry meet-ups.

Just to set myself a firm timeline and also give myself a break, I am closing commissions until mid-January 2026. You've seen my work list, it is crushing me. I really want to get that done. If something shows up in my sketches that might make a fun YCH I will post that, but otherwise, it's just personal art and way overdue commissions for the next couple months.

Sorry for the silence lately everyone! I am leaving in a few hours to catch my flight out to the guide dog school. :) I will be back around the second week of August. When giving me references of your characters, use your favorites that you've commissioned in the past or draw me an MS Paint stick figure or take a pic of something you drew on paper with your own hands. Just don't do it. You will grow so much more if you take the time to draw something for yourself. I love refs from beginning artists or people who think they can't draw, because you actually can draw! I'm here to translate your ideas in cooperation with YOU, not the shitty plagiarism machine that's burning the world and hoarding our drinking water so it can shit out uncanny kiddie porn (which, yeah, a lot of the stuff it uses to "make" "art" is child abuse material).

I'll have to do a new commissions sheet for this (I've needed to update it anyway), but I'm officially removing the option for me to do full color commissions. They triple the amount of time it takes me to finish art and I really don't enjoy doing that much color. I will still finish the full color pieces on my to-do list (if those commissioners want them finished that way) but I'm not taking on any more like that. Flat colors are fine, spending eight hours carefully shaving down color layers I don't understand visually is miserable. XD

For the first time in over 20 years, as far as I can recall, I am closing commissions. I might reopen them at a later date but for now I am exhausted and the pile of art I have to do for others just makes me sad. I want to get it done and then have time for myself for awhile. I'm working another job that's tedious but pays most of my bills now and I just really miss making things for me. Drawing is getting hard between the brain damage, the vision stuff, and the stress of being in the crosshairs of the shittiest people running my country. When things get bad, and they're going to, I will be one of the first hit, that's just how it is. So I would like to spend the time I have left doing things that make me happy.

A lot of folks who want art from me start off with small talk and I am here to say: it is okay to just open the conversation asking for art! :)

I am very bad at small talk and nuance. When people come in my notes or dms in kind of just a chatty way, asking how I've been or talking about work, I have no way to know if this is an opening to talk business or if we're just chatting and I will not direct the convo toward commissions because that would be rude and presumptuous of me. So if you're wanting some art it is fine to say so dirctly to me. :) I know that's not true of everyone but I am a very direct person.

This is not to say you can't just chit chat with me. I'm a well trained visitor and can happily talk about nothing with anyone for hours if I'm not too socially overwhelmed at the time. :D And I love a good chat about fandoms and things we may have in common.
