I'd repost my older art here too but honestly I know I'll very quickly forget what's been posted and what hasn't. I've been at this for almost 20 years now, I can't repost thousands of pieces. Pretty much all of it is on Itch.io I think and if there's something anyone remembers that they just wanna see again I can look for it and repost here.

Hopefully I'll be back on my game more soon. I'm in the process of getting diagnosed with a brain thing that has been hiding under the radar for awhile and I hope naming it and getting it treated will help. I'm also going to be out of the country for a couple weeks in March! :) Thanks to a friend who's been helping, I'm getting to visit the UK and I'm very excited about that. Maybe I can say hi to some of you when I'm out there. :)

I know it's almost xmas but I've got a bill coming due Monday and the money I transferred to pay it won't get to my bank on time. If anyone wants a quick sketch or single character commission tonight/tomorrow and can pay via PayPal or Venmo right away, I'd appreciate it. December is always hard on fixed income but it really snuck up on me this year. o_o

More complex commissions are still closed until I can finish the ones that have been delayed by me being so sick off and on since July.

In case anyone who was there was worried, I deleted my account on that dumpster fire of a site. It's long since become too difficult to use and I'm not okay with the site staff using my or anyone else's art to train an AI that is used to generate money off work that the artists who did the labor aren't getting paid for. DA was fun while it lasted and I met a lot of you guys there, I'm glad you're here. :)

In better news, I'm finally starting to recover from covid enough to do eyeball things like art again,eaa little at a time. :)

Saw my eye doc today and he said not only is it looking good and stable in there but there's been a tiny bit of improvement with my distance vision (which is hilarious because I don't know how to use that kind of vision XD). The best we can guess as of now for the problems I'm having is that covid fatigue is making it so my brain doesn't have the energy to process what I can see. Vision fatigue is a thing in the blind community and it's certainly no fun when something else going wrong in your body shorts out your eyesight.

So the good news is that I will be able to draw again most likely, I'm just going to have to wait for the rest of me to recover. However this whole thing has made me realize that I have to do things differently. There's a hard limit to what I can do with art and my stamina for drawing is no longer reliable.

Ithink the big change moving forward is going to be some hard limits to commissions. Fewer options like backgrounds and I will likely only take single character commissions from now on unless I specifically open up for a multi-character slot. I don't want to make people wait weeks or months while I'm trying to build up enough energy to finish something for them.

Thank you all for your very kind words in the last post and for sticking around. There's still going to be lots of writing coming with some art as I'm able and I'm glad you're all still here for whatever comes next. :)

Edit: Guys I know you mean well but please stop saying I'll get better. That is more demeaning than helpful. I've known how to describe my condition since I was 6 and I know what is happening right now, I've even been through it before. When I say it's not likely to get better, I know what I'm talking about.

Well. This isn't news I wanted to have to share but it's happened anyway. Thanks to covid and a lack of emergency care from my eye care team, I have sustained permanent retina damage and can no longer draw. I can look at things for a short time but cannot maintain the focus needed for art. I More in depth details below.

I hope folks stay around. I may not be doing much art anymore but I plan to do more writing in the future and I may still be able to sketch from time to time. It's been great drawing in this fandom for the past 20 years and I miss it already. You guys made it fun and inspiring and I hope you stick around.

Medical Details:

I have ROP (retinopathy of prematurity), a condition that destroys the light receptor cells (the retina) at the back of the eye when a person is born premature. The blood vessels in my only working eye have always been fragile. Getting hit with a dangerous vascular disease like covid hit them hard. I don't know the full scoop on what happened in there but I do know there has been internal bleeding and visual distortions since about the second day of having covid. That's a sign of retinal tearing. My eye care specialists refused to see me because I was contagious with a known deadly virus, so this emergency has gone untreated for over a week. I'll be going in Wednesday to talk to someone but I am not optimistic that they can do anything. My vision is so precarious that any eye surgery is risky and even the common one I had in 2019 destroyed my ability to read print. They might try to operate and reattach what's tearing in my eye but it's just as likely that it's already too late or that surgery will be too risky. I still have vision but it's essentially worthless with as much damage as has been done. Personally I would rather be blind, it sucks being able to see everything I used to love and can no longer enjoy. I'll keep you guys posted if there's any news but I don't expect anything after this much time and with an eye care team that's been pretty indifferent for so many years.

No, there's no cure, glasses don't fix inside eye problems, and lasik is for a completely different part of the eye. If they invent a working electronic eye I'll let you know but so far there is no help for people with any kind of retinopathy. We just go blind and that's it.

Alas there is yet more delay because you'll never guess who has covid? 8D It meeee. 8) I was not able to get this year's booster in time but I have been vaccinated and boosted prior. It's been rough since Saturday with fever, aches bad enough that I couldn't walk, all kinds of stuff in my sinuses, soul crushing fatigue, and feeling like I've swallowed glass in the middle of the night. Not fun at all. If you get a chance, get your vaccination or booster! This shit does not play around and I have the dead relatives to proove it. Plus it just feels crappy and you guys don't need that! Your awesome bods need that vaccine or booster to stay awesome heh. :)

Anyway... There will be some further delays and hopefully I'll be back in the saddle sooner rather than later. Stay well y'all, the plague rat commands it!

Edit: Been to the doc and I qualified for the antiviral meds that greatly reduce the chance of hospitalization and death, huzzkahuzzah! I'll be spending the next week-ish in quarantine but I like my apartment well enough and am too tired to go anywhere heh. I hate that this keeps happening but there are still delays. Just spent 4 hours in the ER trying to stop a five day migraine from becoming ten or more days. Hopefully, after trying ten different meds over the last two days, the one for traumatic brain injury patients will see me on the road to recovery. Dad update: against all odds, he’s recovering! The guy went from being nearly dead to having a short phone call in two days! Last I heard he’s back home and doing okay. Thank you all for the kind words and patience while this was happening. :)

In other news, I’m trying out having my own Discord server! At the moment it’s Patreon’s only, not because I wanna exclude anyone but because I am a pretty big introvert and get overwhelmed by a lot of people. It’s a really small place right now with the main thing there being that I try to stream (usually between 7pm and 1am US mountain time). Mostly it’s just me doodling with whatever I’m watching in the background and me talking a little (I keep other voices muted for now; I can’t really converse and draw without frying my brains XD). So if you wanna see that and are able, both of my Patreons have server access. If I can figure out a more public streaming platform I may try to do that but I have some limitations; I can read Discord with a screen reader, which is not a given with every streaming chat box (aka most streaming sites just assume blind people don’t use them, which is very untrue). :D

tl,dr: I have a Patrons only (for now) Discord server where you can watch me draw and mute my audio when you can’t handle listening to my fast text to speech anymore. :D

Just a quick little thank you to all of you still hanging around here. :) I don’t talk so much these days but I appreciate you guys. Hopefully more stuff will be showing up soon. I’m in the stage of chronic depression where meds are kind of giving me back some motivation to do anything at all but not enough that I really know what to do with it. In case anyone is interested, I can braille tarot decks. :) This is my Rider-White deck, brailled by hand with a slate and stylus in contracted UEB format. You’ll have to provide your own deck and an additional $15 to cover packaging and my time (it takes about an hour). I’m happy to braille other kinds of cards too. I do my utmost to not make mistakes but there may be one or two in any given deck. I recommend a deck that comes with a bag since these will not fit back in the original card box once brailled. This was a really fun thing to do and I know it’s almost impossible to get braille tarot cards so if anyone wants a deck please get in touch! :)
