short update.
General | Posted 13 years agoThings kind of suck right now. Going to see if I can fix my car today, It needs a new starter, which I have, I just need it installed. I'd do it myself if I could safely get the car off of the ground, but I can't here, and as the car has no parking brake to keep it steady, it's best to let someone else do it who can do so safely. I got a local mechanic here who is way cheap, so hopefully, I can bump start the car to get it to him. Been feeling kinda bad lately. Been stressing over money issues, which I thought were getting resolved but then.... not really. Having nightmares every goddamn night doesn't help either. I feel fatigued all of the time. Anywho, I'm hoping this will turn out to be a semi productive day. Thanks for reading.

Music for 2012?
General | Posted 14 years agoWell, it's officially been a year that ii have disappeared (aside from a few sit-ins) from the local music scene. That's going to change. Maybe I can get an oldies/classic rock band or duo together. I need, NEED to get back to playing.

General | Posted 14 years agoUgh.. Fighting off a sinus infection. No fun! :(
Bad weather. Fooey.
General | Posted 14 years agoUgh, the recent storms here in Illinois have all but RUINED my garden. :(
About half of my cucumbers and green beans have broken stems, and are dying fast. Gonna do some damage control today, and some re-planting. It's a good thing I had some more seedlings started. Maybe I'll post a pic when I get it all straightened out.
For those of you keeping score at home, my garden this year will consist of Peas, Green beans, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Banana peppers, and Zucchini. If all goes well, that is. I may try to work in a couple of Jalapeno pepper plants too, those came in very good last year!
Anyone else planting a garden this year? I'd love to hear about it!
Ok, time to get my paws dirty... *goofy grins*

General | Posted 14 years agoWell, the new job is going well. I'm getting used to the time change, and I don't mind that the work is busy and exhausting. The nights go by quickly, and when I'm done there's only dirt on me. No blood or other nasty stuff, just dirt.
Can't wait to get my first full paycheck!
Planted my seedlings in the garden this weekend. Hopefully this year will be better than last, I started a bit late last year, and didn't get many veggies.
Not a whole lot else going on. Peaches and I went fishing this morning. It was fun! Well, I'm off to bed, work in a few hours. G'night, all.

I really should update more!
General | Posted 14 years agoI started a new job this week. I really like it too, even though it's a midnight shift. I now work for a local trucking company, on a loading dock. I run a forklift for most of my day, loading and unloading trucks. It's a bit more money, although the medical coverage here is nearly ten times what I was paying, so I'll be bringing home about the same, but not driving to and from St. Louis every day anymore. Now only for Baseball, supplies for the shop, and to meet with friends for coffee. (note to self: join the ARF list!) We are still in the basement apartment at Peaches' parents house but we are doing ok, and the future is looking brighter. No kids for me this summer, though...I just can't afford it after another bout in Florida's family court. No justice for Dads. Hopefully I can save up enough for some plane tickets for Christmas break.
Here's more... After a year and a half steady gigging, I am on a temporary break from performing. I've been tossed out of my band because I kept butting heads with the giant fucking ego primadonna douchebag guitarist, so they decided to find another bass player. I was initially upset, but am really not anymore. Gigging had become tense and things were NOT fun, even though the money was good. So now, I'm focused on making my new job work, with my new sleep schedule. I mean, I found this band in TEN MINUTES of posting a craigslist ad... When I'm ready, I'll find another. A better one, too!
Wow, since last post, last year some time...
I posted that my Saturn had 174,000 on it. A year ago! Wow! Now it has 208,000!
What else.... OH! I saw a couple of movies! First, a scary movie. Insidious. Scary? nah. I laughed the whole way through! It tried WAY too hard to be "Poltergiest" in my opinion.
Next, "Hop". This one I liked, even though it seemed to get kind of cheezy near the end. Hoff was hilarious! Some really funny moments throughout.
OK...That's enough for now. I'll try to post more this year. LOL!
Hmmm.... I wonder if anyone is still watching me anyways... *crickets chirp*

Wow...it's been forever!
General | Posted 15 years agoWell, looking at my last entry, so much stuff has happened. Here's some quick details.
First, I found a job. It's in st. louis, though, which means a 1-1 1/2 hour commute each way. The job is...less than glamorous, but it's a steady income, with some overtime, and I am happy to be working.
My ad on craigslist looking for a band got hit in TEN MINUTES! I am currently very actively gigging with TWO bands, and trying to get a THIRD going. I would have never DREAMED that the music scene here in the big cornfield would be so good! I am really becoming known here, and have been invited to sit in with a number of great bands as well, which is one of the biggest compliments a musician can get.
Peaches and I have been getting along great these days, and even though we still snap at eachother and get cranky sometimes, we seem to really be on the same page these days, and our future together seems brighter than ever. She's been working so hard at getting her shop opened, and I am helping out in any way I can. Family life living in her parents basement has been ok too... Peaches mom has been helping set up rooms for the arrival of the kids for the summer. We can't wait to get them here!
I bought tickets to see "Weird Al" in St. Charles, Mo. to surprise my daughter with. Her first concert! She's even a bigger "Al" fan than I am, if that's possible!
After some much-needed work on the saturn, it is finally behaving itself. And thank God because driving to work everyday is REALLY racking up the miles! Gas prices suck SO hard, too and they're just going to get worse for the summer. I've been keeping the car fine-tuned and driving at or a couple below the speed limit to conserve gas, too - my last tankful got me 40.8 MPG's! Pretty impressive i think, for a 12 year old car with 174,000 on it.
I've been feeling ok lately too. I am really trying to stay positive. Good things are happening, and me and the missus are working hard on keeping the good stuff going.
So there you go.
NOW. You. where have YOU been and what have YOU been up to lately?

Still job hunting.
General | Posted 16 years agoWell after weeks of job hunting in ohio, here I am in Illinois, doing the same damn thing. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of jobs here either, and most of the life around here is about a half hours drive away. I put in a bunch of apps yesterday, and on the drive home, my dash lights went out, which means...you guessed it...no TAILLIGHTS either. Goddamn piece of shit car. so I'm up early, to try and track down a short in my electrical system. Fun stuff.
This area is pretty much devoid of any musicians, too. I pposted an ad on craigslist though, on the off-chance someone may read it.

anyways, it's light outside now. Gonna go tear into the car.

New moon?
General | Posted 16 years agoWent to see it over the weekend. I know it's the second of a series, and I didn't see the first one, but it didn't take me long to figure out the whats and wheres of what was going on. To be honest, after seeing "New Moon" I have absolutely NO INTEREST in seeing the other movies in the series. Aside from about 12 seconds of cool special effects, which I've already seen in the movie trailers, this film was a complete yawnfest. I was totally bored. other than that, I'll hold my toungue so I don't spoil it for those of you who still want to see it.
What is it with movies these days anyway? The last few I have seen:
"Paranormal Activity": Again, 12 seconds of coolness, already seen in the commercials, wrapped up in a film that went fucking NOWHERE. The kept billing this as the scariest movie EVER--- Um, not even close. I was more frightened using the restroom after the show. Great gimmick with the whole"YOU demanded it!" thing.... I wish I could demand a refund.
"Jennifer's Body": Ugh... this movie was SO BAD that I had more fun watching the trains go past at the drive in than watching the screen. I kept praying for the credits after every scene ended. Just a rediculous, bad, bad movie. The gory scenes were awfully executed, the story was totally weak, and I'd really like to know who RATES these movies, because aside from some swearing no worse than youd hear walking through the mall from the local teenie-boppers, there wasn't any reason at all for an "r" rating. There's more nudity on the daytime soaps. I mean, if the movie sucks THAT BAD, at least give me more than a few glances at side-boob for my 8 bucks!
"Zombieland!" Ok, this was a fun movie. Good to see Woody Harrelson really enjoying his role, he can be very entertaining when he's in his element, and he was in this role. The plot wasn't anything too deep, but it didn't need to be. Part of the movies charm was it's "B movie" feel. it worked well, and had me laughing the whole way through. Money well spent on this one.
"The Fourth Kind" Woah...THIS is what I had expected from Paranormal activity and didn't get. Creepy, scary at times, with some surprises that scared you not from shock value, like a loud noise to surprise you, but stuff that made your skin crawl it was so freaky. I won't go into it to spoil it for you, but this was probably the best one I've seen in a long time. Go see it if you can.
well, I'm rambling.
Love to all, RK.
