Had a really fantastic time. I actually was a little disappointed in the convention itself - there were no panels at all that interested me except the panel about fursuiting outside the fandom that  kijanilion co-hosted, since I'm a big part of his fursuiting group. There was again no pet auction - which I really wanted to be in - and no fursuit dance competition. The only really major event that interested me was the Variety Show, which ended completely lacking in actual skits and way too full of fursuits pantomiming to pre-recorded music. There was also a couple good live music performances, especially  drewfustehfox and  mooglepower's. But there were also some really, really bad ones - and it was still, all music.

THAT SAID, I had an absolute blast. I finally got my paws on a copy of  rukis's "Cruelty" and many prints from her, got two sketch comissions from  shiuk (LOVE IT BY THE WAY, can't wait to get the second). I bought an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL otter figurine at the art show. Check it out here:

Aside from buying things, I had a very fun time hanging out with old friends, making new friends, and meeting people I've only really known online.

The last really awesome thing that happened was that  klickitat sold me her special gigantic plushie salmon, Beakey. By gigantic, I mean REALLY REALLY HUGE, like 4 or 5 feet long. I carried him around proudly for the rest of the con, and will bring him everywhere now!

Also, I had a major scare at the con - someone stepped on my fursuit head on Friday night when it was on my bed and completely flattened it. Amazingly, there was no damage and the foam just bounced right back. The eyes or teeth could have easily been broken, but all was well.

Only for children. They can see a fursuit and see an actual animal, while non-furry adults often just see some guy wearing a weird costume. This is why I will usually speak when spoken to by non-furry adults, and when I don't have a handler answering questions for me. Since there's no "magic" to ruin for them, I think it helps their opinion of us if we don't persist in staying in character. Show them that we're just normal people having fun, not some creep.

At Bothell Riverfest, we found this salmon mascot called Bert the Salmon. I was in my suit, and we were chatting a little about how hot it was outside to be wearing costumes like that. Eventually he found out what species my costume was, and he (magnificently) stayed in character, leaped backwards, flailed his fins around and shouted "GET OUTTA HERE!!!". For a while after I was following him around, rubbing my belly and looking like I wanted to eat him xD Later, he was really nice and let us use his own break area for us to take our heads off for a while. He told me "Now I did you a favor, so don't eat me, OK?"

Lately I've made a habit of regularly going to the Bellfurs meet every month...it was fun to see people I don't see often (especially some of the Canadian furs who make it down here for it), and I enjoyed the chance to get in fursuit and goof around. But this last time I went, it wasn't a furry party anymore - it was just a drug party.

I don't do any drugs, I don't like to be around drugs, I don't like to be around people who are on drugs. I was really uneasy knowing mild use was going on before, but this last time, it seemed like almost everyone was high or stoned on something, and me and my guest were the only people in fursuit. Nothing fun was happening at all, just drinking and drugs, it seemed.

Something I noticed with both FA and DA, is that in the space where you're supposed to select what "Artist type" you are, the people who have no artistic talent whatsoever ALWAYS pic "Photographer". This kind of pisses me off!

Photography has become synonymous with "I can't art worth shit". People with no talent whatsoever will take random snapshots with their cell phones, upload them as 'art' and call themselves photographers.

I glanced at FA's recent submissions, and saw random little photo of a folded dollar bill that someone uploaded. When I clicked it out of curiosity, I found that the picture was so unforgivably blurry, that in full view you can barely even tell it's a dollar bill. This wasn't uploaded to Scraps or anything, this was their full on "art submission". I looked at this person's gallery, and it is 100% random cheap camera/cell phone snapshots, and sure enough the guy has himself listed as "photographer".

These sites need an item in the list of "Artist types" for "Not an artist".

I'm looking for ANY photos or video footage of me in my fursuit at FC2010 :3 Let me know if you have any!

Yesterday marked the end of my second time at Further Confusion, and my fifth convention in all. The experience was extremely different from FC2009. It's amazing how much being a fursuiter changes things. Last year, I was just a wide-eyed bystander enthusiastically enjoying the wonderful fursuits. I attending panels, went to all the fursuiting events, and had a wonderful time. This year, I was a part of the show. I was one of the things the wide-eyed bystanders were there to see. Everything gets flipped around! Panels held no real interest anymore - all I wanted to do was go around being playful and cute in my fursuit.

This of course isn't my first convention in suit, but it's by far the biggest, and I was totally happy to finally get to strut my stuff with the best suits in the fandom, and the second largest audience possible at a furcon.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that a lot of people I'd never met/seen/heard of already knew who I was and already loved my suit. I largely have Kijani the Lion to thank for this, as I frequently go out public fursuiting in Seattle areas with him, and his videos of our adventures are apparently pretty popular in the fandom.

Big shout out to everyone I met at the convention. I didn't get many people's contact information, so if you happen to stumble on this page and we met at the con, hit me up! And thanks to EVERYONE for making it an incredibly memorable weekend.
