Hey guys!

Ohhh man what a year. I've just finished my first year of university here in Melbourne at RMIT and I have to say it has been bloody amazing to be working, and a more active human (rather than just working at the cafe.. blergh)
I'm studying games design and have had the opportunity to dip my paws into animation, maya modelling, digital painting, essays on Mario Kart 64 (my choice) as well as making video games with, luckily, a very good team of artists and programmers from the sister course.

However! Now that this is all wrapped up for the year I have a lot of relatively free time at my feet and so I have decided that it would be fun to do some trades!

drop a comment if you're interested in trading with me, and post some ref art, as well as some examples of your art so I can decide what I want.

If I get too many requests (No idea if I'll even get any at this point, seeing as I'm not much of a regular user these days!) I'll have to pick n choose my partners. But I'm keen to get as much exp in as I can so don't be shy!

Need some more inspiration for my uni course :D

Show me some character designs that have made you go 'ooh' 'wow' or maybe they made you laugh or perhaps you just generally enjoyed them for whatever reason. Unique is good but it could be anything from an interesting colour set to a crazy hybrid of species. Doesn't matter!

I got my laptop back, might do some furry stuff!
I'm a student now! Doing a bachelor of design for video games which is pretty intense but Im getting my hands on 3D stuff and lotsa character and environment work so it's lots of fun.

Anyway in a few weeks I need to do a talk on an art style or form or whatever I want really and I though I would show my classmates some examples of GOOD furry art

I'm either buying myself an XBOX 360 or a PS3 in the next few weeks and just want to hear some of your valid opinions on either or both of the consoles.
Specifically I wanna know a bit more about the online components of both systems.

Big plus sides in my opinion for the PS3 are the blu-ray player and the self updates (can someone explain a lil more about the self updating thing, what kinds of things it updates etc)

and for the XBOX it's that most of my friends have them and it'd be groovy to play with them online... Plus I'm hoping that the guys at Rareware are up to something cool (though looking at their website it appears not)

Anyway, I'm a total n00b. Last console I got was a GCN in 2003 or so. I love nintendo but I'm pretty sure if I wanna play better quality games I'm gonna need that upgrade :D

Kay so,
I don't usually like to put really personal shit out there, but my Dad's about to die and there are a few things I have been stressing out about.

I owe a few people trade halves, and Dad's slow and extremely distracting illness, on top of a useless computer and a missing tablet pen has made is near impossible to complete anything. I know you don't want me to, but I feel guilty about them most days. There isn't really an option for me other than to say sorry, and that they will be done beautifully one day when I can get a breath in somewhere.

Secondly to all of my friends and my beautiful beau I appologize for not being around to chat. I miss and love all of you.

This could, and probably will keep going on for months but he was sent to hospital again tonight so for the next week or two everything will be even more uncertain than it usually is.

No other news, no other thoughts apart from 'this sucks and Im sorry but I really havent got a lot of space to move'. If anyone's curious, it's end stage emphysaema.

I've been thinking about setting a paypal up this week and taking some $10 commissions but I obviously can't do anything until I find my bloody pen.

To anyone who uses paypal for part-time commission work, I have a few questions too:
-What account should I get?
-Does paypal have fees if you're only recieving small amounts of money?
-Does the customer need a paypal account? Is it easy for them to pay you?

any other tips or advice or things you've learned etc would be really great :3

A few tings just because I won't be around too much for a while-

My laptop got some kind of nasty worm virus that I can't conquer because I need my old school's admin pass to boot it in safe mode. I'm pretty certain that it came from a furry site so make sure you've got more defense than I did if you browse image boards from time to time, it's a real bitch.

I'll hop on using the clunkiest, noisiest, slowest desktop computer that lives in my hallway to say "G'day" and check out the art, although I haven't really been drawing any furry stuff for the past few weeks so I wouldn't be uploading much stuff myself anyway.

On a less update-y note, I think I had a mini epiphany the other week, which is a pleasant result after months of quiet and gentle self exploration.

Apart from a few loved friends I have on my msn and aim contacts, I won’t be keeping up with the whole social furry thing. I absolutely adore some of you guys and I'm sure you know who you are, but I'm just getting over the whole 'I have a rampant social life on the internet' thing. There's more than enough ass kissing and behavioral trend following that bugs me in the real world for me to give a fuck about keeping people happy with petty conversations using only the trendiest lexis. I’ve been a slave to that way of thinking for years and it was only the other week that I realized that my high school style priorities were so harmful to myself and to my relationships with my friends- even some of my oldest cornerstones. I realized that I needed, and wanted, to stop caring so strongly about who liked me and who didn’t. I can't deny that I secretly, although probably obviously, cared deeply about it, I don’t think I understood that it was really quite soul crushing for me, and pretty narcissistic.

Anyway, hopefully, thankfully (albeit slowly in my case), we learn and grow to just be ourselves.

On an afterthought I’m also not bothered by other people doing it; if it’s who they genuinely are. I understand that I definitely prefer 'quality over quantity'. I also know that changing my behavior around certain people made me uncomfortable and anxious and internally angry. I’m just glad I figured out what was wrong for me, and I hope that everyone else out there figures out some of their own metaphorical puzzle pieces if they’re ever a little bit jumbled up like I was.

It’s a very good feeling.

So my Grandpa is in hospital for another week because of some 'complications' so I'm gonna go and stay at his (mega awesome, but mega creepy) old house for a couple of days to watch his cat, Jessie and make sure nothing goes wrong with anything.

I'm a little nervous because this house used to give me nightmares.. it's pitch black at night and has this super long hallway with high ceilings from the guest bedroom to the bathroom and it's always scared the crap out of me so I'll see how I go, it's been many years since I've slept at my grandparent's house so I might be a little braver at 20.

The garden however is awesome and I look forwards to putting on my gumboots and sunhat and digging up weeds and tending to Grandma's flowers which Grandpa hasn't really been able to look after himself since she died. There are a couple of sheds too filled with awesome old stuff. I'll see what I can find in there, it's a little bit like cave explorers sometimes.

Anyway, no net over there so I should be back on Saturday or Sunday afternoon. I'll be taking my laptop and will have plenty of time to draw whilst I'm away.

Oh man I want some fucking orange juice. My last remaining grandparent has cancer which sucks but I guess he's 92 so it's not like he hasn't had an amazing life (his life was amazing) and my Godmother (pretty much my second mum) was diagnosed with parkinson's the other day which is crap but life can get a bit like that and we all move on, C'est la vie, etc.

Currently sketching out the beginnings of a comic that I will be collaborating on with  meesh in our own time which means it'll take months but that's alright. Working on a few trade pictures for shrl and fulk and a couple of gifts too. Should be uploading a fair bit this week, hopefully.
