New Journal! A friend is taking commissions!
General | Posted 13 years agoHey guys! I know I don't post much, but hey. So, I've started college. Been playing a metric crap-ton of TF2, tried out League of Legends, playing lots of magic and the like. It's a lot better than High school, I'll tell ya that. Today I decided to borrow a friends' bike and take a little adventure to some nearby game shops. The closest one is tiny and doesn't run Friday Night Magic, but it's a nice little place. I was on my way to one about six or seven miles off of campus, when something crazy happened! About a mile and a half away, the chain on the bike broke. Bummer. Thankfully we have an emergency ride home service that picks you up and brings you home for no charge. And I'm pretty sure the campus has a biking service where my friend can get her bike's chain fixed at no charge (crossing fingers!). So, I think that's a sign for me to not try to bike across town anymore and that I should just spend my Friday's playing TF2 until I have a person with a car to drive me to FNM.
On another note, one of my friends is taking commissions! This awesome guy is doing both musical and artistic commissions!
Check him out!

To DIGIMON Fans and Cosplayers!
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, I've been rewatching the original seasons of Digimon, and I've decided that I really want to do a Cosplay of Matt Ishida, and there's really just one part of the look I need to track down.
And would be a Digivice.
Waaaaay back when, there used to be clear, plastic belt-clip Digivices that were packaged with little 3-inch Figurines, but I can't find any on the internet or the orange Agumon one I used to have. Well, I found one online, but I don't really want to drop $20 for one if I really don't have two.
There were also the Tamagachi-like electronic ones that retail on the internet for about $200 used. No way I'm paying for that.
So, if any of my watchers or friends on here have either one of these, new, used, working or not, and would be willing to donate, lend or sell it really cheaply, please give me a message! Thanks!

Pokemon: Grand Adventure! (Playthrough Idea)
General | Posted 14 years agoAlright, so I came up with this idea while trying to play through games with alternate starters. Basically, it's playing through all five generations as if you were the same trainer, and watching the series grow.
SO! Here are the rules!
-Must Use Emulators. Goes without saying, but you need to be able to edit the games inititally.
-Must start with a Generation 1 Game. Any is fine. Rival must be named "Blue", though, for Continuity between Generations 1 and 2
-After various criterea are fulfilled, you move on to a game in the next generation. For simplicity, I recommend going with Gen 1 > NOT Cyrstal > Emerald > Platinum > B/W. Will explain later. In this move, you will keep most items, all money and some pokemon from the previous game.
Keeping Pokemon Across Generations:
-All pokemon must be Nicknamed. No exceptions. If you keep a pokemon across generations, the nickname must remain the same.
-You can take up to 6 pokemon from the previous game to the next, and one may be swapped for one of the new game's starters. If you do not swap for a new starter, the Rival's pokemon should be decided by a Random Number Generator (alternatively, the one you WOULD have chosen, so the rival's pokemon choice isn't geared towards your team in some way).
-All pokemon you keep are reverted to Level 5, Erasing all Evolution, EVs, Level-up and HM Moves. A move taught from a TM may be kept ONLY if the next game has a TM that teaches that same move. IVs should be calculated whenever possible to try and maintain them from game to game. You may not be exact, but you can usually get pretty close. Just don't 31 everything when you hit Gen 3.
-When you transition from Gen 2 to Gen 3, the Nature of each Kept pokemon should be decided by a Random Number Generator to avoid Bias towards the pokemon's good stats.
-Pokemon that evolve only through Trade can evolve at double the level they evolve initially (assuming they are in a 3-stage line). Example: Abra evolves in to Kadabra at level 16. When Kadabra hits level 32, you can use a game editor to cause "Evolution" for it. If the pokemon is only in a 2-stage line, it can evolve at level 30.
Other things:
-All Money and Play Time is kept between Generations. If you ended generation 1 with P12000 and 20:00 Play Time, you start Generation 2 with P12000 + The Initial Start money and 20:00 Play Time. The play time isn't totally necessary, it would just be interesting to see how long it takes to play through all of the games.
-Most items can be kept across Generations, assuming they have counterparts. Items that CANNOT be kept include: All Key Items, All HMs, EXP All/Share, the Masterball. Comment if you think anything else should be added.
-TMs can only be kept if there is a TM in the next Generation that teaches the same move. TM Number is irrelevent, only the move that it teaches. If a move was an HM, but became a TM, you can start with a single TM of that move. Opposite that, if a move was a TM and became an HM, you cannot start with it.
Finally, some fun stuff:
-Other than completing the main story (Entering the Hall of Fame), you must hunt down and KO all readily accessible Legendary Pokemon in a given game before moving on (Yes, this includes Roamers). Because of this, you shouldn't use Crystal Version, because it requires Suince, Entei and Raikou to gain access to Ho-Oh. Emerald and Platinum are advised, as they give easy access to all of the Legendaries in their respective regions.
If you want to try this, go ahead. I know I will. I'll also start some sort of thing for people to see what my Progress is. And feel free to Nuzlocke it if you really want to. Might be fun.

General | Posted 14 years ago“No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” -Steve Jobs

Musical Projects
General | Posted 14 years agoAlright, so, here's the outline of three musical ideas that I want to flesh out in the near future. Each with varying degrees of urgency. And all of them very, very different.
Project 1: "PTildobliT"
Weird name, I know. But it's (for the most part) a reflective palindrome. If you take "Tildo" and put it with a mirror, it spells "TildobliT", hence the name. The P is there because I also want to put a Prelude before the Palindrome, and some what I've seen, just putting "Prelude and [Main Part]" works wonders.
So, I've been inspired by the Flecktones (what a surprise), to write a Musical Palindrome. The one that they've released is called "UFO-TOFU", which each letter corresponding to a different section. So, the U (Intro) section, is played first and last in the piece, the F section is played after the first U and before the second U, and so on. It's a great piece and I highly recommend listening to it. I geek out about it. a lot.
Anyways, my idea is slightly different. My idea is that somewhere in the "O" section (of TildobilT), it would flip back on itself. Halfway through said section, everything would be started to be played again.... but backwards. Possibly in a Minor Key. So, if a Bb-Major scale is played ascending, the corresponding measure would be a Descending G-Minor scale. Something like that. Mathematically sound, just will be ridiculous to write and pull off in concert.
Also, it'd be funny to say "The P is silent" and have the "Prelude" just be a fermata over a rest.
Project 2: "The Sinister Minister" (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones) Pep Tune.
This is an idea I had. Arrange this song as a Pep tune, sans the solos. The melodies in the chorus would sound so cool. That, and the Tubas can already play the bass line (The senior loves the song and plays it a lot, both on Tuba and Bass).
PROJECT COMPLETED: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6433696/
Project 3: "Equus" (Eric Whitacre) for Percussion Ensemble
A ridiculously ridiculous piece for Symphonic Wind Band by choral superstar Eric Whitacre. Another piece I'd recommend highly. Arranging it for Percussion Ensemble could be amazing. Just have to do this before I leave for College so I can borrow the score from school.

And I think the flying enemies in Xen (What the rayquaza IS Zen, anyways?) are going to give me nightmares. And I swore myself to finish HL 1 before starting on 2. And I hope to finish it tomorrow!

Coming from Stephen King, you know it's true...
General | Posted 14 years ago...though I don't think any of us needed to be reminded of this:
"Harry Potter is about confronting fears, finding inner strength and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend." — Stephen King
EDIT: Though I have just been informed that Stephen King did NOT speak this quote, but that doesn't change the fact that it's true.

GIANT Pokemon Collab!
General | Posted 14 years agoNew Project.
General | Posted 14 years agoI know what I'm going to do with my Musical Life between now and December. So, Marching Band is kicking up, and I'm starting to think about what sorts of Private Lessons I want to take this year... And the choice, to me, is obvious: Banjo.
Yes, Banjo.
Now, this is assuming the Banjo teacher I found in my City takes on students during the school year. Because he's also a Middle School Math Teacher. But the plan here is to try and get really good, really fast, for the next part of my grand plan.
So, I'm going to write a Concerto for Banjo and Concert Band. Yes. You read that correctly. Going to write at least a one-movement piece for Banjo accompanied by a High School Concert/Symphonic Band. So the hope his I can write it and be good enough to play it in time to give to our Band director to play at our Spring Concert. My original idea was to write something to conduct, but now I feel like I want to do this and have another Senior (a particular Clarinet who is an amazing concert conductor) conduct said concerto.
As for the content of the Concerto, I realize the obvious thing: Build themes based on the (rather) iconic music known as "Duelin' Banjos". Also, the one thing that I think would be funny is the band to play an opening section, pause, and then the Banjo Player walks in and starts to play a Cadenza, seemingly out of place. The problem with this is I'd have to find a name that doesn't actually state it's a Banjo concerto. But all of that in due time. Right now, I need to finish up my last week of Composing camp, start learning Banjo and make it through Marching Season.
Remi - Out.

Yay, faulty vending technology!
General | Posted 14 years agoThe dorms here have vending machines in the lobby. I put in a dollar and punch in the Code for a Crunch Bar, which is 90 cents. It dispenses one bar and still says I have 10 cents left on the screen. I hit the coin return to get my dime out, and this happens: Another Crunch Bar is dispensed. Then I hear a clink. It gave me a $1 coin.
That is all.
That is all.
Mission Accomplished.
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, my 5th Grade Teacher (from 7 years ago), Geoff, has become a house/pet-sitter for my family during the summers. He's pretty young, late twenties/early thirties, and a pretty cool guy. The pets like him and he likes hanging out with them for days on end.
Anyways, he came back a few days early, since I don't leave until Monday and the rest of the family left for the beach today.
creulevulpes and I decided to have another Sleepover tonight since it was probably the last chance we'd have before school starts. Turns in to a Pony Party pretty quickly.
Around 10, we convinced Geoff to stay up and watch a few episodes. He finally goes to bed around midnight.
He's Hooked.
Mission Accomplished.

General | Posted 14 years agoNew Journal?
General | Posted 14 years agoWell, maybe I should change this up. Anyways, starting Monday, I'll be out of the house for almost a month and a half straight, so here's the rundown on what I'm doing!
Starting Monday, June 27th, I'm driving up to Lynchburg, Virginia with my friend and co-Drum Major Christine for a week at teh DRUM MAJOR ACADEMY, which was started by George Parks many years ago. Sadly, Mr. Parks passed away last year and I will not be privileged enough to study under him directly, though I'm hoping the camp will be just as awesome as I've heard it is.
Then, RIGHT after that, I'm driving over to Williamsburg for a Family Reunion. Meaning a week pass to Busch Gardens and not spending much time with the family (I don't really like my Dad's dad too much, and some of the cousins are a little crazy), except for the Dinners that we're required to be at. Aside from forced time with relatives, it's going to be an awesome weekend + a few days.
After that week and a half, I'll be back home for about a week (maybe 2, I forget), then my Family heads to the beach for a week! And I'm NOT GOING! Because I'm flying up to Minneapolis for a two-week Composerizing camp! I'll be sure to keep you guys posted on things I write for the camp, and I'll have a brand new piece ready to post by the end, and hopefully a live recording to follow.
Then a few days following my return from Minnesota, I leave for Band Camp! And then, well... School starts up shortly after.
WHERE HAS THE SUMMER GONE?!

FEAR Fun (Pokemon Related)
General | Posted 14 years agou. Here is the FEAR strategy, but adapted to Aron. With the way Sturdy and Shell Bell work, using Endeavor to get an opponent down to 1 HP will actually heal you back the amount the Shell Bell normally would. In this case, back to full at Level 1 against level 100 pokemon.
The party I ran consisted of the following: General Entry Hazard Forretress (Toxic Spikes is the priority here), Dragon Dance Tyranitar, FEAR Ratttata, FEAR Aron, Coverage Sweeper Krookadile and a Coverage Rampardos. I can post the run-down later if people want it. Basically, set up Toxic Spikes, get Sandstorm up, then FEAR them to death with Aron. If they bring out a Ground-type, Toxic will get them. A Flying-type will be taken down by Sandtstorm. In the case of Skarmory, switching to a Sweeper after using an Endeavor works well.
Opponent's team: Skarmory, Lucario, Milotic, Zapdos, Rapidash, Braviary

This weekend is... AWESOME!
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, it all started after school today. We all went in to see who was going to be Drum Major. He told us to leave the room for 90 seconds and he'd post it. We left the room, but he never came to get us. We assumed that he was going to come tell us when to come back in to the room, but he was actually utilizing the "Post and Run" technique commonly used for posting theatre parts. We waited for 10 minutes before he actually came back and let us in.
I'm the Head Drum Major for next year!
I have an assistant, and next year is just going to be amazing! Talked to him later on (when I accidentally deleted my photo of the paper), he told me that my conducting was perfect and that I'm incredibly talented [insert generic praise here], etc. Anyways, that just made my day right there.
But then I also got to hang out with
Wolfeh and
creulevulpes, Matt's (Cerule's) girlfriend, Wolfeh's friend and that friend's boyfriend. Had a great time with minigolf, food and ice cream... And now I'm mated to the awesomely wonderful
Wolfeh <3
And if that wasn't enough (though it could be!) Triangle Furs is heading over to CCI tomorrow to see a bunch of big kitties and stuff. SHould be fun! And Animazment is a week from today! SO MUCH EXCITEMENT, IT'S MAKING MY HEAD EXPLOOOOODE!

Drum Major Auditions
General | Posted 14 years agoWent so amazingly awesome well! Not nearly as nerve-wracking has I feared it would be, so that was good. 8 people auditioned, 6 rising Seniors, myself included, and 2 rising Juniors. All we had to do was conduct through a Marching Band movement entitled "Reflections of Sound", a somewhat slow piece in 5/4 and 4/4 with a ridiculously broad dynamic range... Ranging from pianissimo to quadruple-Forte. Everyone was supportive of everyone else (except one guy who is kind of a douche anyways, went first and then left because he "had stuff to do), and only one person had a problem with letting everyone else watch them conduct, albeit from the back of the room.
I went second and the first response I got was from one of the soon-to-be-juniors "DUDE! That was AWESOME!". While a good chunk of the hopefuls practiced together, I was one of the guys who went off and learned it by myself and such, and that may have helped a lot. Feed back included: Great intensity, yet a good understanding of the sensitive parts of the score. I guess if I had to sum up my conducting style in 3 words: "Intense, yet Sensitive." Also, I was told that my actual technique is pretty solid. This is awesome because I'm pretty much completely self-taught.
So, I think that if he decides to have just one Drum Major next year, I have a ridiculously awesome shot of getting the position. If he decides to go with two, he might choose a pair from the people who practiced together just because their styles are so similar.
No matter what happens, this was awesome to go through. Let's hope I get the spot! We'll find out tomorrow after school. So, if I get it, it makes this weekend just that much more amazing.
If I don't, I can drown my disappoint in a fun evening at a fun park with
wolfeh and
creulevulpes and various friends.
Here's to hoping!

AZ Karaoke Box
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, I wanna have some sort of huge hurrah at the Karaoke Box, which they just announced IS BACK this year! There's maybe only 5 songs on the song list that I actually know, and they're all things that every one would know and it wouldn't be much fun to sing... They have a lot of L`Arc~En~Ciel, but not the one song of theirs that I know. So, I'm thinking... I'm gonna take Flow's COLORS and learn it on Melodica. Mix it up a bit and have some fun. So, I think I'll take a few requests for things to learn... As long as I can find a MIDI/Sheets easily and I can learn it within a week, I can see what I can do.
