I Can't Catch a Break, Part III
Posted 10 years agoSo, just an update- my laptop fried itself. It's going to cost way too much money to fix, but I gotta get it fixed anyways. I was smart enough to move my most important story projects over to Google docs, but I still lost a few previews for commissions I was getting ready to send out. I'm now sharing my Dad's laptop, so I need to re-write what I lost, and things will be a little slow for a couple weeks. Emphasis on little; I still want to get shit done.

She's Gone.
Posted 10 years agoWe put my dog down early. She was in pain.
Dead Dog
Posted 10 years agoI'm not going to beat around the bush. It is a very likely possibility I will be putting my dog down on Saturday. She's 15 years old, now, and she's... sick. She's dying.
It's not that I don't love her. I do. But I've also been watching her slowly decay for about two years, now. I want to see her at peace.
Needless to say, I'm going to need some time to recoup. Just a few days. If she has to go, I'll need the weekend, but by Tuesday, I'll be back to work. I've had a long time to prepare for this one, and I've had scares over her before.
If this is goodbye, Lemon, I'll miss you. You were fat, lazy, and sometimes temperamental, but you were there for me for 15 years. You never met anyone you didn't like, and I love you.
God bless,
-Renard

Streaming?
Posted 10 years agoSo, a question for everyone, what would you think about me hosting streams?
Now, I don't draw, I don't play video games, but, as you all know, I DO write, and I can set up a writing Stream on Google Docs. Ya'll can chat, make comments, see how I make up a commission- what do you think? Would anyone be interested?

Breakdown
Posted 10 years agoHey.
I know it's been a while. I'm sorry. The truth is, I've... not had the best week. Month.
My new job was eating away at me. The hours were long and what I was actually doing, while not physically demanding, was something I was ill-suited for. It was essentially a call center job, trying to sell without actually selling anything. If that confuses you, or you think that sounds awfully duplicitous, congratulations, I'm right there with you. -.- I stuck with it, though, because it was good pay and the company was good to me.
Then I had my breakdown. I just left work one day, went to the gym, and started crying without really knowing why. I just shut down. It was a bout of depression with the worst sense of timing.
Then I was fired.
Yeah. True, I didn't even like my job anymore, and flirted with the idea of quitting, but being out right fired, thrown out, is... well, it doesn't do anything for the ego.
And that's where I am now. My schedule has freed up considerably, so I'll be able to get things done much more quickly, but I still just need a day or two to recover and pick up the pieces of my shattered self-esteem. Thank you all, especially my commissioners, for your patience.
Thanks and God bless,

Palamanidominion777 and Shouts
Posted 10 years agoHey all.
So, I've got some new watchers, which is nice, but I see you may have come across my page because of
palamanidominion777. While I'm glad to have you here, I'm sorry for the trouble- this person took my story setting's name without my permission or knowledge. I don't really care about that, so much, but when I found out that he was leaving shouts on lots of people's pages linking back to my page, I asked him to stop.
So, that's pretty much it! It's not me, I didn't ask him to do it, and I'm sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused.
God bless,

It's Another Update! Also: Palamani Commissions
Posted 10 years agoHey, everyone.
So... yeah. I kind of dropped the ball on commissions. I've been getting some pokes about them, three in one day, so, I think I better let everyone know what's going on:
First of all, my new job. Actually... the job's pretty much it. I'm in training, now. Several weeks, six days each, 12 hour shifts- 8 am to 8 pm. I have just enough energy to crawl into bed each night and clack a few words out on my keyboard before I pass out. The job looks very promising, they just don't fuck around with training.
Now.
I really wanted this to be a surprise, but, since people have been asking, I figured I'd better let people know- a lot of my commissions have been taking place in the Palamani Dominion, the setting of the muscle growth story series I've been working on that you can start here and I am just tickled that you all have let me flesh out (get it?) the story world by filling in parts of the lore and history. To show my appreciation, at the end of the series, I'm going to celebrate by featuring every Palamanized (Palamanian?) character in a great, big collage picture by
eda So! If you want your character Palamanized, come up with a plot and throw it at me as a commission, and I'll add you to the picture.
Thank you so much you guys- if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Working Out, Working, and Commission Work
Posted 10 years agoHey everyone!
I want to apologize for the delay in commissions- Sunday was my birthday, thank you all for the well wishes, by the by; and this past week, I've been campaigning for a new job at a software company called Softrock, which I was officially hired for yesterday, so, go me! It's a pretty nice gig, but the hours are a touch long. I'll be able to finish all the commissions, (all 12 stories, thank you all!) All but one of you have received your first few pages, and all but one of you has given me details on what you want, so please, if you have any concerns, let me know. I have a few free days left, so I'll be doing as much work as I can for the stories I've gotten payment for.
And secondly, I've been hitting the gym a lot. Those that know me know that I really want to get beefy, just like practically all the characters I come up with. :B I'm starting to see some results, and I'm a little curious if anyone would like to see progress pics. It'd be a nice motivator for me, and a good way to keep on track. Let me know!

Birthday Lolf
Posted 10 years agoJust a quick update that my birthday's next week, June 14th. It'll be the first birthday I haven't worked on in... Christ, five years?
Anyways, I'll be out of town that day, but hopefully I should be staying on track with commissions. I'm writing them as fast as I can!
And I mean, if anyone wanted to do anything off-the-cuff like for my birthday, then you can be my best friend??
You know. Just saying.

To All Commissioners
Posted 10 years agoHonest question: I've been rethinking my payment model. I notice that charging by the page can become problematic- if the story is dialogue heavy, it might result in eating up pages, and thus, costing you more. Contrawise, if there's not a lot of dialogue, then a lot more words fit on one page, and then I'm getting less.
So I'm thinking of charging by word count. By my best estimate, I average about 500 words a page. So, say, $3 for every 500 words, which would cost the same as my $3 a page price. What do you think? Stick with page count, or switch to word count?
Also, I'm still open if anyone else is interested- thank y'all for your patronage, those who have commissioned me. I'm still getting them out quick as I can!

Commission Updates
Posted 10 years agoJust for the people that have commissioned me- a little update.
There's been a bit of a delay- I had to run out to St. Augustine to a museum I interned at, so that took up a whole day, and I also had a small accident at work; I passed out from heat exhaustion (I work at Didney Worl for those not in the know) and hit my head. There's no major or permanent damage, but I still have some headaches, so I'm going to try and recover from that before I try to tackle the story commissions. Sorry, again, but I hope to have more out soon once my head doesn't feel like there's an axe lodged in it.
God bless,
-Renard

Patreon?
Posted 10 years agoSo, serious, honest question- I want to see if anyone would be interested in supporting a patreon for my stories. It's basically to see if I can make a living off the stories I write for this site. What I would offer is-
-Early looks at Rough Drafts
-Cameos in Stories
-Raffles for gift stories
Please, be honest! You're not going to hurt my feelings if you honestly don't want to subscribe to something like that- or if you have other ideas about what I could offer. But please please please give me some feedback.
Thanks and God bless,

Back In Business
Posted 10 years agoNow that I've got time to kill before work at Disney starts ramping up and I'm all settled in after graduating, I will be working on story commissions! The list, if I'm not mistaken, follows thusly-
1.
nocturne (with an extremely overdue commission)
2.
genialgroucho
3.
bear1
4.
aether718
5.
exatron
And I should have the first few pages for all of 'em out by this week. As for Strength of a Thousand Men, it has not been forgotten, but will be on hold for a while yet, because the illustrator, the illustrious
eda is travelling. But hopefully, we can bring you something soon!
Finally, to all those that wished me well during my burn out phase and graduation, thank you very, very much.

I'm Graduating
Posted 10 years agoYes, you read that right.
I'll be walking tomorrow for my Bachelor's Degree. Majored in History, Minor in Art History and English. No Cum Laude, which was my ultimate goal, but I am graduating with honors- as a member of Phi Alpha Theta, an Honor Society for Historians, and a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the Honor Society with the unfortunate abbreviation for Writers.
I'm not entirely sure how I feel right now.
Wish me luck!
God bless,

Burn Out
Posted 10 years agoHey, everyone.
I make no secret that I'm a christian. I'm just not a very good one, sometimes. Or at least, I don't think I am. I keep meaning to pray, but how can I when part of me actively resents what God supposedly has ordained for my life right now? Bah.
I've been very quiet- and when I do talk, I'm sporadic. I'm sorry about that, truly, I am. I haven't forgotten my commissions, (because I really do need the money) but I've just... hit burn out.
Part of that not being a very good christian thing stems from the fact that I have been doing something I know isn't morally right- but it was helping a friend out of a jam, AND he was going to pay me for it; quite handsomely I might add. Don't fret, it's nothing illegal, I'm not stealing anything, no one's dying or in any way harmed. I promised I wouldn't expand on it, but let's just say it involves writing. We all have our prices, no? Mine was one born out of desperation because with no job (while I'm at school, at least. I still go back to work for Disney in summer) I had no other way to make money. My burn out comes from a lot of stuff. I'm just... so tired, all of the time. I'm graduating in two weeks time and I should be happy- but I'm not. Make of that what you will. Might have something to do with the $53k I owe in student loans becaaaaaause private schools are expensive and most of my grants were taken away from me when I was fired from my job at school for not showing up to meetings I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT and was never GIVEN ANY WARNING about- seriously, without having one conversation, or write-up, or ANY disciplinary action taken against me, they straight up fired me, and they didn't even tell me about THAT until I got back to school from Winter break. Because life's a bitch.
Not to mention I was "removed" from my position as an RA last year NOT because my work was unsatisfactory, but because they "wanted to give someone else a chance"- someone, presumably, that isn't drowning in their own debt before they get their fucking diploma- because, again, fuck me.
And finally, my best friend, my dearest, most reliable friend, the person I loved as a brother, stabbed me in the fucking back, treated me like shit, and then kicked me to the curb- but NOT before he fleeced money from me like a fucking loan shark by pretending everything was happiness and sunshine and then LITERALLY THE DAY after he got his FUCKING money, he told me to fuck off. Some of you know who I'm talking about, don't say anything- I want to vent, not ruin someone's precious reputation, no matter how satisfying it would be.
I should've vented about all of this a LONG fucking time ago, because most of this happened months back- but I've been bottling it all up, because that's what you do, right? It's what you're expected to do, keep calm and carry on, but now I'm staring down the barrel of the rest of my life, and right now, it doesn't look so hot. I'm lonely, and feel twice my age.
If it weren't for the company of the friends I have left, like
nocturne and
lunostophiles I would've gone mad a long-ass time ago.
And I started cutting myself. I've only done it a couple of times- but I've done it. So. Yeah. There's that.
I'm... just so tired.
God bless,
-Renard

Emergency Commissions Update
Posted 10 years agoHey everyone- thank you so far for all those that showed interest in commissions; so far my list is as such:
1-
genialgroucho (Paid in advance)
2-
bear1 (Pre-writing)
3-
aether718 (Pre-writing)
4-
exatron (Waiting on further details)
Now, the only thing holding me up so far is school. It's my very -last- semester, so I gotta tie a few more projects up. I have raised enough money to pay off my car accident, (again, thank you all very much) but I'm willing to take on one or two more commissions if anyone's interested!
Thanks, and God bless,
-William

luprand tag, bitches!Car Crash Emergency Commissions
Posted 10 years agoSo. Yeah.
I crashed my car :D
First off, I'm fine, the car's mostly fine, everyone else is fine (I hit a construction barrier, not another car) but the -actual- fine- that's not fine.
So, I've got... $53k in student loans because fuck me, so a ticket that'll jack up the insurance.... that's not good.
For all intents and purposes, there are people far worse off than me right now- even the crash itself, I got -really- lucky, because it could've been astronomically worse. But that doesn't negate the fact that I need to pay the state money I don't have.
So, I'm re-opening for story commissions, $3 a page. Ya'll have seen my work, and you know I do good stuff. Any amount is going straight to paying off the ticket, and it'll be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, everyone!
God bless,
-Renard

IMVU Deal
Posted 10 years agoQuick, who's jumping ship? I want to start my betting pool on who comes back first.
Seriously though, I understand this is a big deal, but I think the drama is very pre-emptive. Nothing's happened yet, so far as I know. Right now, it just looks like the people who bitch and moan about the elections and claim that if a person they don't like gets elected, they're moving to Canada.
That's all folks, God bless and such,
-Renard

Poll Results: Was it a Surprise? Incoming Beef!
Posted 11 years agoSo, yeah. If anyone saw the poll comments, it was kind of a slaughter. Muscle, all the way.
With that in mind, I am going to combine my deep abiding love for fantasy to give you a rolling, Conan-esque epic chock full of beef and musclefurs. It's going to be a lot like Academic Growth, cut up into chapters, audience participation, all that jazz. Instead of sticking with one artist, though, a few have shown interest for this project, so while I already have one main artist, the ever-awesome
eda, expect a few other artists to tackle a chapter or two.
I'm very excited about this, and if anyone has any questions, I'll be glad to field them- and, if there are any more artists out there that would like to be a part of this, please, let me know! You will be paid- I'm not looking for requests. XD
Thanks for the interest, everyone! Hope to give ya'll a show.
