So, Valkyria Chronicles 2 is coming out at the end of this month.

This excites me! (Even if I can't afford to buy it right away!)

Problematically, it is for a system that I do not own-namely, the PSP.

Now, I *DO* have a PS3 (from a while back). To those who know: If VC2 is one of those 'downloadable' PSP games, can I play it on my PS3?

So, good news: The reason I was gone for a few days from the internet was because I was celebrating my 1 year anniversery with my girlfriend in a small mountain cabin. No internet, but it was fine- We had fun hiking and playing in the river.

And an amazing river it was-The ENTIRE bottom of it was rock, so the water was crystal clear!

I also discovered, when I slipped, that the rocks are very sharp in some places, and that sandals do not offer any protection when they go to one side of the rock and your foot goes to the other-

Thankfully, while deep enough to necessitate an ER visit (which was nearby, yay!), the cut wasn't THAT deep-I didn't need stitches. I just have to keep it cleaned, some antibiotics on it, and keep an eye out for infection.

So, next time, aqua shoes.

-And a week of having a 9 year old cousin talk to me about pokemon. Constantly.

(This is not an exaggeration. My girlfriend and I managed to get him to change the topic.. mmm... once. For five minutes. =) )

In other news, I uploaded my quarterfinal piece-about a week ago. Man. I still can't believe I've come this far! In the week between now and the results, I'm going to try to work on the next part of my Field Research series, and finish proofreading a story I wrote (and sent to) a friend a bit back.

Holy crap, I've made it to the quarterfinals of  LapSeph's VOCT2. I'd expected to have fun, but.. I didn't plan on getting this far! Time to start actually explaining WTF is going on in Lillan's plot, and build up to the climax!

Though I've already exceeded my hopes, I'm going to try hard to get all the way to the finals. We shall see.. wish me luck!

Phew, barely made it. Stupid writers block, striking right in the middle. =(. I tried to go through line by line and proofread, but I'm sure I missed some things. Ah well, 'tis a skill I must practice! =)

Jag looks like he put up a pretty solid entry, too. At least I've got a small break (or a *long* one, if I lose =P), but I also really want to know who won. XD. Ah well, I shall survive.

I think my story-writing is getting better, though. Perhaps one day I'll be good enough to feel I can take commissions, but I think I want to get a larger body of work done, and perhaps get better-known, before I even attempt that. =) I've certainly had one or two people tell me I could and should do that, though...

Wheee! I made it to round 3 of the VOCT2, AND finally wrote the first story for a series I've been plotting in my head (Field Research). I've got a few more, different series further down the line, and a few self-contained (or very SHORT series) stories planned as well. The next entry in this series may be a little bit: I've got my Round 3 entry for the VOCT2 to do (Likely to contain some macro-micro play), and a story for a friend that's been stewing away in my head for a while.

It's actually really exciting, writing like this. I admit, I think one of my reasons for joining the VOCT2 was not only to motivate myself to write, but to try and get more exposure.. if I make it to even the semifinals or quarterfinals, I think that might help me make a name for myself. =) So far, so good!

My second entry into the VOCT 2 is up! And finals are FINALLY over, which means I have time to focus on a few other story ideas that have been brewing in my head, along with a story for a friend.

Well, in addition to, you know, continuing to do research as a grad student and stuff!

Currently, I'm just writing for tournaments.

For instance, my mousegirl Lillan is enrolled in the VOCT 2!

And, due to the fact that two matches had no victors whatsoever (due to people dropping out!), the two highest-scoring losers of round 1 were brought back.. of which I was one! So, I get a chance to continue onwards.. and hopefully get a rematch. >=) My next opponent is  Whitefiretyger 's Jax Belle. We'll see if I can pull out a win!


Once these tournaments (or, at least, *school*) is over, I do plan to start writing other stories. I've actually got about.. um.. 5 or 6 different ideas in my head at the moment. A lot of them are ideas that would work better as a *series* of stories, so I won't be able to churn them all out at once, but.. still! I hope you all enjoy what I write. =)
