+20 minutes after the final meeting - team decides to join me in a dream - gets it started with a chat group, one fleet team member puts in his 2 weeks
+2 days after the final meeting - manager resigns on the spot
+3 days after the final meeting - 90% of the DOT drivers, 3 rookies, and a few handful of veteran drivers decide it's time to leave and come with us.
I started working with my 3rd party Amazon company Aug 3, 2019, my manager (who became like a brother to me) was hired 3 days later. As time moved on, we both moved up the ranks. He eventually became the Operations Manager, and I became the Operations Supervisor. Sometime late 2020, my now fiance was hired on by the same manager who hired me on, we get to know each other during work, my Manager and 2 fleet guys kept pushing me to date her.
November 25th, 2021 - took the leap and asked her out on a date, to join me for Thanksgiving, she said yes!
Early February 2022 - big scandal pops up in the company - me and our 2 fleet guys got falsely accused of sexual harassment. I was cleared as there was no evidence against me, along with one of the fleet guys. The other one got pinned with it because the company needed a scape goat.
February 20th, 2022 - HR published a new version of our employee handbook - no change log/update log provided - they asked everyone to just sign and acknowledge. They got wind of me dating my co-worker and introduced a new rule prohibiting any romantic relationship within the company, and required that everyone report if they were partaking in one so they could review it and say if it can continue or not.
-Didn't read it fully/accept it until April 21st, 2022.
April 24, 2022 - my girlfriend at the time got asked to talk to HR to verify if we were dating. That night, received a message from my boss to meet with him and HR the following morning. Called my girlfriend that night on the way home to let her know that my time has come, that they called me in and wanted to talk to her. I told her, "No matter the outcome, if they say that it's either I break up with you to keep my job, or that I have to resign/get fired.... would you take me to be your husband....?"
Without missing a beat....
She said YES
April 25th, 2022 - I got fired at 11:30am for being in a romantic relationship with my now fiance, and for being in violation of company policy that took effect after we were seeing each other. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
After I turned in my laptop and badge, went to say my goodbyes to my co-workers. They all were shocked, upset, and furious, however. I told them the same story as above, and they all wanted to quit right there on the spot, especially my manager who became my best friend.
Long story short, we couldn't be happier! Even though everyone says we should file a wrongful termination lawsuit, but we more than likely won't just due to the sheer support that we've been getting from all our friends and (former) co-workers! I still can't believe that I got fired for loving a woman who loved me for who I am, nor that they want to help me realize my dream of reviving the family trucking business ♥

Level 30
Posted 4 years agoWell the day is finally here...!
30 years old and.... nothing really feels different! But having an amazing time with my folks in Vegas!
Went to a shooting range near the strip, and even after now shooting a rifle for 5-7 years, my groupings are still on point (even with a m60E6 and M2 .50cal)!
Today (sunday) got to go on a plane ride to and from the strip to the Grand Canyon, and took my mom on her first ever helicopter ride! Totally worth our boat's engine conking out no more than 45 seconds from the dock on the Colorado River down at the bottom!
Another year, another level. Can't wait to see what comes next!

Still Kicking!
Posted 5 years agoAs 2020 comes to a close, alot of us have lost loved ones or people that we've known, or friends of friends etc. I wish to extend my condolences to all who have lost someone in their lives, or know of people who've lost someone in these troubling times.
Quick rundown of what's been going on with me: So August of 2019 I started my job working for a 3rd party distributor for Amazon, finished my degree in May of 2020 (finally got my diploma today in the mail!) and got promoted to lead of DOT operations and compliance for my company (Amazon has started using stepvans like UPS/FedEx to do deliveries). Then come around Thanksgiving time, mom started to feel ill (she's an RN and was working the COVID unit at her hospital) and we got the news on Thanksgiving day that the inevitable had happened, she tested positive for Covid-19. Long story short there, our (mine and dad's) worst fear has come to realization, mom's sick with covid. So we both took off of work and started to take care of her as best we could for about a week and a half... then things started to go down hill... So idk what made mom decide to get one, but she ordered this O2 monitor (like the ones in the hospitals) that you put on your finger to check her O2 levels. Once we saw that her oxygen levels were well into the 80% range, dad made the call to take her to the hospital, and good thing we did! Once there, we also found out that she acquired pneumonia as well...
3 weeks into hospitalization: This is where some good news comes into play! So 3 weeks into mom being hospitalized, and after she's moved into the DOU (DUO? The place before ICU) her O2 levels go from 70% up to the high 80% range even to 90%! BUT... they're still keeping her in the hospital for the holidays as a precaution.
More interesting news: So I was actually invited by Amazon to attend a chime meeting between my warehouse, and the 11 other companies in our warehouse to talk about DOT compliance (especially since I took over the DOT operations for my company, we were the only ones to achieve and maintain 100% since the first vans were delivered!). So about 30-45 minutes into the meeting, I got to shine! I was able not only teach the other companies on how to get as good as us, but I also taught our station's DOT manager some tricks to keep up with the curve as well, and because of this, my warehouse is the first in the NATION to be 100% DOT compliant! (go me!) But all I got as a thanks was a hat and an Echo Dot... don't get me wrong the gesture was nice though!
So all in all, not all bad but not 100% good, there's a balance! Though leaning more to the good side....!
