I'll have our tablet with me, but there's gonna be a limit on how much degenerate filth I can draw for obvious reasons, so expect a downturn in my output for a week or two :P

After a change in our financial situation, and a talk with my husband, we decided it was safe for me to come back to full-time artwork! :D

Husband and I are taking a long-overdue trip to another state in the middle of next month February (rescheduled after husband went and broke a toe D8) bc we haven't seen his family in actually almost half a decade, and bc we might conceivably have to flee the US to escape the rise of modern fascism and that'd make visiting *after* fleeing kinda tricky at best :F. We were able to get credit for the tickets, so paying them off over time rather than in one lump, but that said it would help to have some extra buffering in the ol' bank account while we're out there! 8D;

Since FA added the feature (Cogwheel > Account Information > Global Site Settings > Allow Minors dropdown box, for those unaware), I've gone ahead and blocked minors from accessing either this account or  cavesandcritters.

While I recognize it's only as useful as the user's set birthday is accurate (we all know kids lie about their age online to look at titties or butts or whatever, we all did it too and anyone who claims otherwise is either lying or didn't have sufficiently private internet access to begin with lol), it's at least the responsibility of accounts like mine - ergo, those that post gratuitous amounts of filthy, degenerate smut - to take the steps available to us to at least make it harder for minors to find our stuff when they're not meant to be finding it yet.

Regular art posting will likely resume somewhat soon-ish. The reality of what happened last week hasn't changed, but the bills still need paid and as mentioned before, I do like drawing. So... yeah.

Got the news this morning via the family chat group that we set up way back when she had her fall a few years ago. Seems the same thing happened again. My middle brother noticed she hadn't been Online on WA in some time, and her neighbor called and told him all of a half hour later (while we were trying to get through to her or people nearby) that Mum's milk and juice delivery was still sitting outside.

We (well, my brothers) were in the final stages of closing on a house sale + purchase to move her closer to them expressly so that they could pop in and see her regularly and be close to hand if anything like this happened.

I don't know much more than that right now and, honestly, I don't know if I want to. Ruminating over what-ifs and maybes won't change anything - I've always believed that, and this situation's no different. Part of me is a little mad at her for digging her heels in so much on letting us get the ball rolling to move her closer to one of my brothers, but again, it's not like I can go back and change that, so I'm not really focusing on it either.

I don't honestly know how much this will impact my productivity, because while I obviously have things to attend to and will equally obviously be flying home for the funeral and such, I do find drawing very soothing. That said, if you've commissioned me recently I can't promise any specific turnaround. If that's going to be a problem for you then let me know, but rest assured I will still be finishing your commission. I just don't know exactly when, right now.

We should be okay financially, at least - my husband's income is guaranteed, and while I (probably) won't be pumping out comic pages or random smut any time soon, the support many of you are already giving me over there will help too. My oldest brother has already offered to cover the costs of us flying over there and to stay with them when we do, which I expected but it's still nice to have confirmed.

I realize I'm just kind of rambling now. I can't really think of anything else to add, so... yeah.

Rest in peace, Mum. Dad and our Labradors - Brandy, Mackison, Rusty, Bournville and any he had before I was even born - should be up there waiting for you, with that nice cottage by the sea you both always dreamed of moving to one day.

Edit: Just occurred to me that I did mean to add one more thing. If any who read this are, as folk are like to do in these situations, feeling helpless or wishing they could do something more than is within their power... do me a favor? Call your parents, call your siblings or cousins, call whoever you have in your life that you care about and keep meaning to call but forgetting to. Even if it's just to tell them you care and hope they're doing okay.

First off - loving the recent degenerate trend for making porn of the Nerds mascots. It's so goofy that it's fun in it's own way lol.

That said, I can't eat Nerds any more after I accidentally had a 400mg Nerds Rope edible in one sitting (because I, fool that I am, thought the '40mg' printed on it was the whole thing, not 'per serving'), proceeded to dissociate from reality over the course of the next few hours, and then violently upchucked everything I'd eaten in the last few days as my body desperately attempted a factory reset to end the experience.

Which it did! But it wasn't fun lol.

Well it was at first, then the reality of what I had done was revealed to me and began to kick in, and then it really wasn't...

So every time I see those candies at the store now I'm just like 'oh god no pls' DX

We're coming to the realization our mattress may either be shite, or just not up to task for our increasingly decrepit old bodies any more, which leaves us in the difficult position of needing to go mattress shopping, an inherently troublesome activity.

Like, I can't gauge if it's good enough from a quick lay down in the store, because a quick lay down on my couch is delightful but if I sleep a whole night on it I'll have cramps and cricks all over in the morning. It's also not helped by the fact that every mattress store may just be a cover for money laundering, as often evidenced by the fact that the staff in said stores always seem legitimately surprised to see a customer actually come in and ask them questions about their stock.

If it does turn out to not be any good, we have to arrange returning it which, even when they have those 'return without worry blah blah' policies, still involves a lot of hefting and shifting that our - as previously mentioned - decrepit selves aren't really up to.

We also have to find somewhere to put the current one until we gauge if the new one is better, just in case the new one is actively *worse* and we need to swap back just to get to sleep that night.

Then we have to contend with the alternative of doing it online, where it's any guess as to how many - if ANY - of the reviews are actually legitimate, how many were fished for by a 'please rate us 5 stars and we'll send you a gift card' bullshit, and how much are just out-and-out fake to try and shift shitty product.

Then there's the price tag...

Eegh......

Following some recent medical issues that I won't go into the full details of for... well, personal reasons it's become apparent that it's better for me to be at home than out working 40-ish hours a week. As of this coming Sunday, I'll be back to working from home full time.

This means that I shall be more available and able to work on Caves and Critters, Gracie's Fantasy and a return to Commission work!

I won't be re-opening commissions immediately as I still have an overdue queue to finish off - however, it would mean the world to my husband and myself in our efforts to make our lives less stressful if you'd like to consider subscribing to either the Caves and Critters or Kinky Kobold Cave Subscribestars! (Commissions are great and fun and I absolutely will be opening them up again in due time, but even then, the semi-reliable regular income from the subscribestars is much easier to plan expenses and such around.)

And of course, if financial support is something you can't or don't want to offer, then even just throwing links to my content around would be greatly appreciated. I really am looking forward to getting back to regular art-ing, and I'd love to see my creations reaching more eyes and making more people smile. <3

Both will be receiving a more frequent flow of content starting within the next week or so, including a return of the regular bonus content like the monthly character polls, free copies of finished Kinky Kobold Cave content when it is finished, and just general regular updates of my tomfoolery and deviancy.

After getting this new job, I continued to accept commission inquiries on the promise that there wouldn't be my usual quick turnaround time. As time has shown, however, I am generally acquiring them at a much higher rate than I can get rid of them.

As such, if I have accepted a commission from you but have yet to start work on it, I am hereby cancelling it. This is nothing to do with you, your idea, or my opinion of either - I just find the looming mass of 'unfinished work' (even if, as ever, it's not been paid for yet) is becoming an intimidating monolith on it's own that's holding me back from relaxing properly and focusing my attention on the pieces I *have* started.

I'll contact you directly with this information as well if you fall into that category, but I just have to do this for my own sanity lol, sorry. If and when I re-open to commission inquiries, I will endeavor to keep those of you who already inquired in mind as priority contacts to see if you're still interested at that time.

I'm closing up further commissions for the time being, as I *still* have comms from before I got this new job to finish and the inquiries keep coming in lol - if I keep accepting them then I'm gonna get overwhelmed XD

Also - those following the Kinky Kobold Cave substar may have noticed it's on "Vacation Mode". This doesn't mean I've stopped working on Gracie's Fantasy! I still have every intention of finishing it, and everybody who's subscribed so far will still get their requisite rewards for it when it's done - but with the job,  cavesandcritters and just wanting to have some free time left I can't promise a turnaround for it that feels remotely okay to be taking money from people for - even those of you who I know would reply with something like 'I support you because I want to, not because I expect stuff right now', because I know some of you would, because you have in the past when a commission had to be delayed or something. ;P

It will still be finished, and I will keep posting pages there as and when I get them done - all Vacation Mode does is mean you won't be getting charged for remaining subscribed for the foreseeable future. (I've set it to a year for now, on the grounds that if I've not finished it in a year then something's gone badly wrong somewhere lol)

Apologies that the comic page is missing for today, but I will also endeavor to get that out soon. I start on the 11th, so I've got time to finish off the commissions I have waiting and make sure that this week and next's comic pages are done too.

After that, commissions will probably be very sparsely opened as I want to focus the free time I have for art on keeping the comic running apace. <3

So, pending background checks and references, I have almost certainly got myself a job! Pretty decent paying one too, and conveniently close to the public transport network. Bosses both seem like good people with good attitudes, so hopefully it'll be gud shit.

I do not expect this to affect the comic's update schedule, as I intend to make it my focus in my free time. It does mean I will be scaling back commission work, as I don't want people to be waiting forever to get their art from me and I don't yet know how much this will affect my available time/energy/etc. I do also intend to continue working on Gracie's Fantasy until it's finished, and I'd rather give what time I have outside of working on CnC over to that, since people are paying to see it finished lol.

Once I have a better idea of how it's going to affect my energy and time, I'll see how things are for opening commissions again.

I really like how it looks, and I think it adds a level of depth my cel-shaded style lacks whilst also not being too hard on me as an artist in regards to time spent. That said, aside from my husband, I don't think I've actually seen anyone comment on the change so I'm curious to know what people think!

There's a trend I've noticed throughout my many many many years in the fandom - one which I was sadly, as a much younger person, a part of for a while before I learned better - and it's the inexplicable need for some people to go out of their way to comment on content they dislike, like a conservative posting a 1-star review of the Barbie movie.

Fans of that body type: 'Hot! Faved :D'

People who are not fans of that body type: 'Maaaan this would be so much hotter if they weren't so [overweight/skinny/old/hairy/etc] :(' 'I wish I knew why stuff like this does so well bc I just don't get the appeal >.>' and the rare but still prevalent 'Eww, [slur for body type] D:'

Like... even a site as mechanically archaic as FurAffinity allows you to just block accounts, thereby preventing you from seeing their content. It's really easy to just not comment on things you don't like, if setting up whatever filters exist is too much work for you.

If the art doesn't appeal to you, that just means you're not the target audience for it - and the people who actually *are* those body types IRL will take comments like that as comments on them as well, and that shit's just not fun.

NB: This obviously does not apply to legitimate criticisms, but I think it's apparent that none of the examples I provided are legitimate criticisms of any piece of art lol
