Went and did it
Posted 6 years agoI fully expect that I won't get a whole lot of interest in this, but I've added a new tier to my Patreon page. For $5 a month, in addition to the special Discord role and access to exclusive Patreon-only content (not that I have much of that right now, but anyway), you'll also get to request a free sketch of up to two characters each month. Subject to my usual rules, of course, mainly meaning no sexual content, but nobody's yet asked me for something I didn't want to do so I'm sure it'll be fine. If in doubt, just ask.
If this sounds interesting to you, here's where to sign up: https://www.patreon.com/Reyquiem
If you have any other comments – especially if one of those comments is "$5 is too much/too little/whatever," please leave them below; I'd love to hear them.
Hopefully this will give people a chance to get something for themselves, and also give me some practice drawing characters I don't normally draw, because I could sure use the practice.

Future plans, again
Posted 6 years agoI know I've done at least one of these before, but I don't know how many, so that's why I haven't numbered this even though I probably should.
Well, here's the first and most important thing. I thought about it a bit, and I'm going to be shifting into just doing serious, SFW stories for a while. Just because I want to do some serious, SFW stuff. I know everyone likes the lewder stories, but I really feel like my best work comes out when I get really into it and focus on how my characters interact with one another, beyond simply being captured together or helping each other escape or any of that. I want to really explore what makes them, you know, proper characters.
And I have a bit of a plan for how to go about doing that. I have most of an outline for my next big story – it won't be as big as some of my other ones, though – and I actually have something I've been building towards. Sort of a big, important event, possibly a two- or even three-parter, that should fill out several gaps I've left in some of the oldest of my Argent-centric stories as well as carry the whole ensemble further forward. I've actually been leaving some increasingly obvious hints, and I'm admittedly more than a little sad that nobody has picked up on them. I can't just give you all the answers – where's the fun in that? But I am definitely going to give you most of the answers within the next few stories.
I do apologize, sincerely, for leaving you for so long without a properly long story, though. I just have been having so much trouble finding the motivation to start actually writing the next one out.
Moving on: Those of you who are just here for the lewds should be happy (or at least less disappointed) to hear that I still intend to do NSFW artwork. I know that's what people really want. And that's okay. Sometimes that's what I really want too. I'll try to mix some SFW pictures in as well, but there should be enough NSFW to keep everyone happy, myself included. Haven't done a statue pic in a while, so I'm thinking that'll be next.
Also on my list is to do some actual, serious worldbuilding. I'm talking maps, charts, planetary data, scenic views of Slate Ridge, titles and summaries of every single Legend of Liora game, stuff like that. I've been neglecting my setting, and I want to change that. I'll be working with others on that, I hope, because Argent's planet isn't wholly my own. The Madria/Klaversstead/Slate Ridge area certainly is, though; that's probably where I should start.
Part of the above is also going to be redesigning Argent's shirt. I like it a lot still, but I think it's come time for me to break away from those last few direct ties between Argent's world and ours. It made sense way back at the start, when my setting amounted to "the real world but with furries and magic and real-life roguelike dungeons," but it doesn't make sense now that that's not what it's turned into. (Those who have been around since the very start of Argent's escapades might remember a few more references to real-life things that seem to have been forgotten. Rest assured that I haven't forgotten them at all. You'll see.) It's not hard to make this change in attire make sense in-universe: a sequel to Breath of the Wild has recently been announced in our world, right? So why not add a new Liora game to the list in Argent's world? And we all know how much Argent loved the last one, I hope. The new design will keep the same colors and general style, but it will be wholly my own.
An outfit redesign does mean I have to make a choice: edit Argent's current reference sheet just enough to change her shirt, or do an entirely new reference sheet from scratch for her. Considering how long it's been since I did the current one and how differently I've been drawing her in my most recent pictures (compare https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26412613 to, for example, https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29575388 and https://www.furaffinity.net/view/30524446), I'm leaning toward the latter. But that's lower on my list of priorities.
Just a few more art-related things to mention, and that should be it for now. First (actually, what is this now, eighth? never mind), I'm making it my goal to do at least one sketch per week from here on out. This won't always be possible, but it's my goal, and I'm going to do my best to stick to it. I need to get in some more practice on a lot of things, and I want to try to get faster and less... neurotic with my sketches. I often run into a bit of a block because I don't like to leave work unfinished, but I am going to intend, ahead of time, not to have to finish all of these. All of them will end up on my Patreon page, and the ones that don't also end up here will be exclusive to patrons.
Which leads into my last item: How would people feel if I created a second Patreon tier? I'm thinking a $5 pledge could get you a free sketch request each month. Would anyone be interested in something like that? Would anyone be against it? (Side note, to my one and only patron at the time of this writing: thanks for wanting to support me even though you aren't getting much out of it. Seriously, it's not much at all, but it gives me some confidence.)
And I think that should be it. If you made it to the end of this journal and actually read all of it, I thank you sincerely. I hope I wasn't too long-winded, and I hope I haven't scared anyone away or anything. If you have any comments, I would love to hear them.

A dumb thing I thought of after Nintendo's E3 presentation
Posted 6 years agoSome in-universe video game company I haven't thought of a name for yet: "Hey, so, we're working on a Breath of Nature sequel–"
Argent: "TAKE MY FUCKING MONEY."
(Personally, I think I'll be too busy with that godsend of a new Animal Crossing game, but hey.)

I will not be enabling the new "shinies" thing.
Posted 6 years agoNot out of security concerns or anything like that; I've checked, and PayPal itself handles the actual payment process, so it's as secure as PayPal is. No, I have two other concerns.
Most importantly, I don't really trust them when they say that they've worked this out with PayPal and PayPal said it would be fine. PayPal is notoriously unkind to NSFW content, and FurAffinity is pretty NSFW all around. I don't want someone sending me a payment, adding a bunch of falsely incriminating comments along with that payment, and getting my account banned. (Note that I did not test whether you are given an option to leave a comment, so this point may be moot. Let me know if it is.)
The other thing is that nobody is going to give me $5 for no reason. I've got a Patreon page with, at the time of this writing, exactly one subscriber who has pledged $1 per month. And I'm not even wholly convinced that was a good investment, considering the fairly average quality of my work and the scarcity of actual content I make. So there's no point in setting up a $5 tip jar. If anyone really, REALLY wants to toss me some money, they can do it on Patreon and maybe actually get something for it occasionally. (https://patreon.com/reyquiem for those too lazy to read the section of my main page where all the links to other websites are.)
I apologize for the obviously grumpy tone I'm striking, but for this whole week I've been dead tired and obviously grumpy because of it. I would take a nap if I could, but I hear every little noise that goes on around me and it keeps me from falling asleep.
That is all.

Went and made a Patreon page

Right now it's just a place for people to donate money if they feel like it. Currently the only tier is a minimum donation of $1 per month, and all it gets you is a special role on my Discord server. I'm not completely sure where to take it right now, but I'll probably use it to show off some sketches and works in progress and stuff like that. If enough people are actually interested, I might expand it to have higher tiers that come with free picture requests and such as rewards.

Raffle results
Posted 6 years agoThe latest raffle has ended. The winner is:
Gabthenostalgic
I will send a note to the owner of the character he requested shortly.
As a final note, I have to say, I'm not all that surprised that I only got five entrants. Apparently it's very difficult for people to think of characters to request besides mine or their own, and I suppose that does make sense to me. But at the same time I was hoping I could get more people to come up with something new. Ah, well. All that matters is that a few people were interested. :)

Raffle for no reason
Posted 6 years agoJust felt like doing another raffle, that's all. Nothing special going on, just wanted to.
This will work pretty much the same as my previous raffles. The raffle will run until 11:00 PM MDT on Wednesday, April 3. The winner will get a single-character colored and shaded picture. You enter by replying to this journal with what you want to see and a link to a visual reference of your desired character. I'll reply saying your entry is accepted or, if not, why not. Characters can be male or female, but must be anthropomorphic (or at least mostly anthropomorphic) and must be 18 or older if you request anything NSFW. My old commission rules – https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8625664/ – have a list of things I'll absolutely not do; for everything else, if you aren't sure, you can leave a comment or send me a note to ask or you can just go for it and I'll tell you if it's not okay.
The catch is that you aren't allowed to request your own OCs or any of mine. You may request someone else's OC, or a non-OC character. The purpose of this is to get people, myself included, to branch out a bit. Now, I'm fine with you and a friend agreeing to request each other's characters, or other stuff like that, because that means more people are getting involved. If you request someone else's OC and win, I'll contact them to make sure you got their permission; if you didn't, I'll pick someone else and repeat.
(Yes, multiple people can request the same OC. I'd encourage you not to, but it's not against the rules.)
This journal will also be posted on DA. Don't bother trying to enter both, because I'll only count your first entry.
That should be everything. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Elaborating
Posted 6 years agoSome more stuff that goes with this morning's journal. Just thoughts, really.
Was talking with another friend who mentioned something that I absolutely agree with. The problem is that still I'm not very good, compared to all the other artists out there that people can buy art from. This is a completely objective matter – I am much slower, as well as lower in quality. So why would anyone pay me $15 for something when they can pay someone else $15 and get something a lot better?
It's not like I don't understand why this is. I'm lower in quality because I'm still learning, still very new to art in the grand scheme of things, and because I don't typically have the time or the motivation to practice. I still consider myself a writer first and foremost. And I'm slower because I'm using my pictures as a means of practicing new things, trying out new poses and new techniques. I don't have a fully developed foundation to work from yet. I have to figure a lot out as I go. Once I figure something out, I remember it, and I get faster at it. But it's that first time figuring it out that takes so much time. And even then, when I have something figured out, I only have it figured out at a very low level. I'm not fast, because I'm not good enough to be fast. Not yet.
But that's where the problem comes in. Even a detailed sketch, before I even start doing proper line work, takes me the better part of an evening most times. And even though I'm not doing this as an actual job (I'm definitely not interested in making it an actual job anyway) I just don't feel like it's fair for me to work on something for someone else for two bucks an hour. Sure, two bucks an hour is probably exactly what my art is worth. If even that. But it still feels unfair to me, and it makes me think, "why bother?"
And that's why I decided to pull what I consider an absolute dick move and only open commissions for my close friends, the people who care about more than just how my art looks and how much it costs. It makes me feel like shit, but I decided it was better than either alternative. Opening them to everyone would mean lowering my prices drastically, which I wouldn't feel is fair to me, and closing them completely would mean nobody gets anything, which wouldn't be fair to all the people I know who want something.
I'm fine with art trades – you offer what you can, I offer what I can, we both understand the values of our pieces won't be equal, but everyone is happy anyway because we each tried and we each got something for it. It's just when money gets involved that it gets harder. (I sound like a goddamn communist now, but you know what, fine.) But trades aren't an option for everyone.
Maybe I'll come up with something that I can do for the general public sometime in the future. Perhaps I'll draw up some various kinky sketches and such and offer them as cheap YCHs. That could be a pretty good idea, come to think of it, because figuring out the sketch ahead of time means half my work is already done. Yeah. Maybe that's what I'll do. Not now. But maybe sometime soon.
Assuming anyone wants one, of course.

Commissions opening for friends only
Posted 6 years agoBecause, according to that poll I made, most people aren't willing to pay very much at all. So, obviously, my work isn't worth as much to other people as it is to me. One person even used the "additional comments" field to make a request – and I mean, come on, really?
So I'm going to be a dick and only let my friends commission me. Prices will be negotiated with them rather than being set ahead of time, but will probably be the same as, or a bit lower than, what they used to be. I'm still taking art trade offers from friends (though nobody's ever taken me up on that either) so this essentially means they can just pay with money instead of art/writing/whatever.
I should be sorry I'm doing this. But I'm really not. I don't know why I'm not.
Edit: Elaborating.

Questions about commissions
Posted 6 years agoI wanted to ask people some stuff about pricing and such for when/if I reopen commissions. So I set up a form with a few questions. Should take maybe five minutes to answer, if that. And don't worry, it's anonymous. (Or at least it should be, assuming I didn't mess something up.)
https://goo.gl/forms/wD4zgxApysXJ4quj1
If you're interested in getting a commission from me – regardless of whether you have ideas or money right this moment – I would appreciate it if you gave me your input.

Possible art remake project
Posted 7 years agoI'm thinking of going back through some of my old pictures and remaking the ones that are really far off-model.
Current candidates:
Captive Audience (oh my god, everything about this is wrong)
Ceiling Cat (redo the entire thing, it's okay but it's using the old proportions and I know I can do better)
This Outfit Is Stupid (redo the entire thing, it's just ugly)
Margay in the Mirror (update Ba'al to newest design, fix Argent's proportions a bit, might be lazy and not bother with a background at all)
The Stoneshape Gauntlet (update Ba'al to newest design, make the actual gauntlet look a lot nicer, fix Argent's proportions a bit)
It's the first three that are most in need of a revisit. The other two, I'm pretty much fine with; it's just that Ba'al looks a lot... spikier than he does now.
Which of these would you want to see redone first? Any others you'd want to see redone that aren't on the list? Or anything I said I'd do but never actually did? I'd love to hear from you.

Answers to the old OC Q/A
Posted 7 years agoHey, remember how I did an "ask the OCs" thing forever ago but never finished answering everyone's questions? Well, I never forgot about it, but it's really about time that I admitted that I'm probably not going to finish them any time soon. If at all. So I thought I would go through the list and answer all the questions I didn't get to draw anything for. That way people at least get something.
CFreezerBurnC – So Argent, what do you think are the best points of entry for ruins and for occupied structures? I’m interested to know your thought process.
Argent: "Um... the front door? There's pretty much no thought process whatsoever. I just use the nearest door that isn't trapped. I'm a good adventurer, but I'd make a shitty thief."
paul – This one is for Ba'al. What's your problem?
Ba'al: "Unless you too began seeing what you were convinced was a comprehensive readout of every major event that was destined to occur to you and to exactly one other person whom you happened across by accident, chose without hesitation or forethought to settle into your new role as the villain in that one other person's life story, realized almost too late that you were throwing away your own free will and your own worth as a person in order to pursue a life of what can only be described as criminal insanity, and strove to turn your admittedly still quite nefarious talents toward good rather than evil in order to rectify your past mistakes, and did all of this over the course of a mere nine months, you are not permitted to ask me that question."
Telokey-the-bat – To Ba'al: So what was your childhood like?
Ba'al: "It was... remarkably quiet. My parents and I all got along wonderfully; our arguments were calm, civil discussions almost from the moment I could speak, and we never had reason to raise our voices at one another. I had few friends and was homeschooled by my mother – she did not trust anyone else to educate me properly – so it took me many years to realize that not every child was so fortunate. We lived comfortably but prudently, and I remember I would scoff at the extravagant estates and lavish parties I saw associated with the rich and famous on television. My parents, wealthy as they were, considered such things a waste of money, and I am glad they made sure I felt the same."
sam-gwosdz – To Argent: What was the most interesting treasure-housing dungeon or temple you've ever explored?
Argent: "Hmm, that's tough, because I've been to so many interesting places it's hard to pick just one. But if we're just narrowing it down to dungeons and temples with treasure, then I have to pick the Shrine of Alarel. Gods, it was like something straight out of a Legend of Liora game. You go explore one section of it and find a key or some other item, and that lets you get deeper into another section, where you find another item that gets you deeper into yet another section, and there you find something that opens a secret door back in the first section, and so on until you can finally reach the boss. It was so much fun. The boss kicked my ass, of course, but I did get some awesome magic earrings out of it."
Additional note from Rey: Yes, Legend of Liora (credit to Telokey for the name) is an in-universe counterpart to Legend of Zelda. However, it's not a direct copy of Zelda; rather, it's much closer to a fantasy Metroidvania series. In fact, Argent's universe probably doesn't have the term "Metroidvania" – they have "Liora-like." So far I've only thought up four of the games in the series. Legend of Liora: Breath of Nature, the latest entry, is basically Metroidvania Breath of the Wild except even better than that sounds on paper. The original Legend of Liora is a top-down 2D dungeon-crawler very similar to Zelda 1 that didn't have the Metroidvania elements yet and, unlike Zelda 1, doesn't hold up very well. Legend of Liora 2: Equinox has a top-down overworld hub area connecting to various points in a vast side-scrolling game world, not unlike Zelda 2 crossed with Super Metroid, and essentially codified the "Liora-like" genre. And Legend of Liora: Mourning Tide, which was inspired mainly by Majora's Mask and a bit of Metroid Prime, is the series's first 3D entry; it is set on a pair of islands cursed to steadily sink into the ocean over the course of an in-game week, and revolves around creatively manipulating time using artifacts hidden throughout the game world to reach new areas and eventually find a way to break the curse. Breath of Nature may be Argent's favorite, but Mourning Tide would definitely be mine.
SnowLeandre – Hello there Argent! I have a time-machine! So if we went on an adventure together, and past, present and future are open to us, where (and when) would you have us go?
Argent: "Easy. I'd go back in time to the moment my dad left my mom, and I would kick his fucking ass clear into the next millennium. I realize you were hoping for an actual adventure, though, so I'd love to go back to ancient history and see what life was like back then. There are so many questions with answers that have been lost to time. But first there's an ass I have to kick."
Strife3025 – [to Ba'al] Do you believe that morality is a construct intrinsic to the condition of being a sentient, or universal constant?
Ba'al: "Ah, that is a very old dilemma, isn't it? I, personally, do not believe in universal morality. I believe that what is 'good' and what is 'evil' are defined solely by a person or, in the case of society as a whole, the general consensus of many people. What one person considers good, another may consider evil. The one may revel in what the other finds abhorrent, and vice versa. Neither person is truly right, and neither person is truly wrong. In my eyes, sentience is a strict requirement for morality; non-sentient beings have no understanding of good and evil, only instinct and behavioral conditioning. And, in fact, I would argue that sentience and morality are wholly inseparable. It is our ability to choose our actions on the basis of our individual perceptions of right and wrong that defines who we are at our cores – a notion that I once abandoned but am glad to have regained. However, I am concerned I may have misinterpreted your question, so if that is the case then please feel free to correct me."

I'm back
Posted 7 years agoI had the incredible misfortune to get seriously sick on the weekend of my birthday. I spent yesterday doing two things: playing D&D with friends, because I wasn't going to miss that, and lying in bed with a fever alternating between napping and watching YouTube videos about the plot of Kingdom Hearts. (KH still makes next to no sense to me, even after all that.) It's only today that I'm feeling okay enough to log back on here, clear out my backlog, and thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday. I think I got everyone, but if I missed you, thanks!
I'm still not feeling my best, so I'm staying home from work today. I've still got a story to write – it's been forever since I started it, but I haven't forgotten about it for an instant – but that's probably not going to be happening today. Maybe I can work on it later this week. I say that every week, but you never know. XD

23rd birthday
Posted 7 years agoIs today.
Please don't feel like you have to get me anything special. I won't feel bad if you don't. For me, today is really just another day. It just has a name.

New Year's stream event thing tomorrow!
Posted 7 years agoAll right, so here's the plan.
On New Year's Eve – that's tomorrow – I'm going to do a kind of marathon stream event. I'm going to spend as much of the day as possible streaming art and games, flipping back and forth as I feel like it, allowing the occasional break for food and stuff. No schedule whatsoever, just messing around. Basically, I'm going to do exactly what I was already going to do the whole day, but I'm going to let people watch and participate.
This means I'll be taking free sketch requests during the art segments. That's kind of important, which is why it's in bold. The way it will work is, you show up and give me an idea and a character reference or two, and if it's something I can do then I add you to a list. Then, when I get to your idea, if (and only if) you're still present, I do it. Basically, you can't just pop in for five minutes and expect something for free. Also keep in mind that I'm still not a very fast artist; sketches will take some time. If I don't get to your idea during one art segment, I'll keep you on the list for the next segment, so you might want to follow me on Picarto and enable notifications so you know when I've started drawing again.
It might also be smart to follow me on Twitter for updates too; I'll send out a tweet whenever I switch to doing something else.
Art segments will be on Picarto: https://picarto.tv/Reyquiem
Game segments will be on Twitch: https://twitch.tv/reysilverskin
Updates and such on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ReySilverskin
I am expecting to get maybe half a dozen viewers at most, but you never know, right?
Update: If I don't manage to get to your sketch request, and if you at least stuck around for a decent length of time, I'll try my best to have your sketch done before the end of the week. I have the whole week off; that's part of why I'm doing this marathon thing in the first place.
Update 2 because I forgot to mention it: Two characters maximum per request, please. See my commission rules (https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8625664/) for a general idea of what I will and won't do, but if you aren't sure, please feel free to ask.

Everyone, give me holiday picture ideas
Posted 7 years agoSeriously. I want to do some kind of holiday-themed picture, but I'm a little short on ideas at the moment. So I'm very open to suggestions right now. Please leave a comment here if you have one. SFW, NSFW, anything. I'd prefer not to pull the cliché use-Christmas-lights-and-tinsel-as-bondage-materials thing that everyone tends towards, but I'd certainly consider it anyway if that's what people like to see.
Tumblr is dead.
Posted 7 years agoLong live Discord and Twitter.
I haven't actually been posting anything on Tumblr. I just used it to follow some artists who couldn't put all their stuff on DA and FA. Emphasis on "used" – it's really the principle of the thing that's finally turning me completely away from Tumblr. Already wasn't using it much, and now there's no point to using it at all. So I went and followed a bunch of people on Twitter if I wasn't following them already.
I suppose I can take the time to plug my Discord server a bit, even though I'm not a part of the Tumblr exodus. It's usually pretty quiet there, and I have to admit I'm kind of okay with that, but we've got space for art and writing and just general chatting and plenty of room for similarly-interested people.

Serious hypothetical question
Posted 7 years agoIf I were to open commissions again, how many people would want one?
I'm just asking so I can get a good idea of how much demand there actually is. The way it usually goes seems to be that (1) I announce I've opened commissions, (2) I get two or three immediately, (3) I stress myself out getting all of them done, and then (4) people stop caring. And I'd kinda prefer it didn't go that way next time.

Am now home
Posted 7 years agoWon't be doing much today. Tomorrow, I'll see what I can manage. That is all.
Gone next week
Posted 7 years agoJust a minor update. I'll be gone next week, visiting family. Probably won't be online much, if at all.
I may be able to find time to work on the next story, though. It'll be a bit different from my usual style, but that seems to be how it usually is when Ba'al takes center stage.
See you all whenever.

Character suggestions, reprise
Posted 7 years agoI'm putting a stop on the one from yesterday because it's already turning into a place for people to request their own OCs. Which is not what I wanted it to be at all. Sorry for being an ass.
So here's how this is going to work.
1. You may suggest a character that doesn't belong to you. Could be someone else's OC. Could be an official character from something else entirely.
2. I need a decent visual reference for the character.
3. I need you to tell me if you do not want to see this character in something NSFW. If you don't say one way or the other, I'll assume you're fine with the kind of kinky stuff I usually do.
4. Character suggestions are only that. These are not requests. These are ideas. Suggesting someone doesn't guarantee I'll do anything with them.
5. I was mainly looking for characters, but I suppose it's fine if you had a specific scene or situation in mind. I can take that into account, but I might mix and match scenes and characters.
Leave a comment if you have someone (or something) you would like to see me draw.
(Yes, you can technically suggest one of my OCs, because they don't belong to you. But I'd kind of prefer you didn't.)

Character suggestions
Posted 7 years agoUPDATE: I changed my mind, because I'm an ass. This has already become a way for people to request their own OCs. Which is not what I wanted this to be. Better to start this over earlier rather than later.
Go here: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8934276/
I've been thinking of doing some art of other characters besides my own. I thought I would maybe let people suggest some. Why not? So if anyone has someone they want to see me draw, go right ahead and leave a comment here.
A few things to keep in mind though:
1. You may suggest any number of characters, including official characters and OCs, but only one of the characters you suggest can belong to you. I don't want people swarming in with "you should draw my OC, and my other OC, and my other other OC, and..."
1.5. While it's totally fine for you and someone else to suggest each other's OCs to get around the above, if you go overboard I will probably just start ignoring your suggestions.
2. Suggesting a character does not guarantee I'll do anything with them. This is not asking for requests. This is asking for ideas.
3. I'm asking for characters, not situations. Don't tell me what you want me to do with whoever you suggest. I'll pick. But do tell me if it's not okay to do any of my usual kinky stuff with them. If you don't tell me one way or the other, I'll assume you're okay with it.
4. It'll be much easier on me if you provide a link to a visual reference. That way I won't have to go searching for one if it's a character I'm not already familiar with, which is likely.
That's about it. Go right ahead and comment if you have someone in mind. There's no limit or expiry on this, but if the past is any indication then interest will likely die out fairly quickly. But hey.

Commissions closing
Posted 7 years agoI will be closing commissions for some time. Starting right now.
I have one commission in my queue, and I will be finishing it, but I will not be accepting any new commissions. I also have one moderately large project I promised a friend, and I will be finishing that too, but after that I'll be sticking to much smaller-scale things for friends if I do them at all.
It's not that there's anything bad going on. It's just that owing other people things really stresses me out. Almost constantly, in fact; it doesn't leave my head, ever. And I feel like those people are becoming gradually more upset and disappointed in me with every passing second I spend doing anything else. Even though they repeatedly tell me not to worry, I still worry. It's just the person I am.
I will still finish the things I owe. Because if there's one thing I hate more than not doing what I promised to do, it's going back on a promise entirely. But, after these, no more for a while.
If you were planning on commissioning me – which, past experience suggests, is extremely unlikely, but let me make this clear anyway – please don't tell me. It'll make me feel worse if I know I'm letting someone else down. Please just hold on to your ideas until I'm ready again.

Fundraising auction
Posted 7 years agoSo, a good friend of mine,
drpossibly, is going through some financial trouble. And another very good friend,
Telokey-the-bat, is holding an auction to raise money for her. Nothing terribly fancy, but still something worth bidding on: the winner gets a picture of their character spending a night with Telokey's character Ruby, doing pretty much whatever they want. For several reasons, I'll be bidding on this quite a bit, but you all should get in there too.
