Posted 12 years agoSo, Demicoeur has started this book project. I've always been SO impressed with her color work and layout stuff so when I read what was in this book, I couldn't help myself. I had to buy this book. Then I did, and Fever was like, "I need this also" so he got it too! Now that we have our copies, you should all get one too!

#342 - To my New Watches
Posted 13 years agoToday I hit 300 new watchers since September. I don't know what to say except that I am so so grateful for your attention and appreciation. I have to say that the push from Kashmere's journal this morning certainly helped.
I am just so blushy right now and excited to see some names I have followed for years now, returning the watch. It makes me realize how important this website has come to be to me; as a network, as a place to share my workand a place to share my joys. I am so pleased with my growth in my art as well as within this community. It's come such a long way with both.
I probably should say something as to how sleepy tired I am, I'm sure you can all tell from the quality of my writing, but I am just so excited, glee and above all, tired.
So without futher ado, A Silly Poem about me by Foxbrush:

#339 - An explaination...
Posted 13 years ago...For my sudden commission drive.
Let me say first, I really don't like "emergency" commissions. I've always been a proponent of take commissions as they come, never push too hard for them, don't over burden yourself. That's been a huge thing for me in the last 5 years of professionally arting in this here fandom. It's been important for me.
My Car broke. Like big time.
I was driving home from dropping Fever off at the ferry when my car started steaming. I'd noticed it a little bit on the highway, but thought I was just moving fog, cause it was really bad that night. I got off the ramp for my exit when my car bucked and died right there. I am lucky that I decided after my birthday to get a cell phone. I called for help and we managed to limp it home. As it stands now, I'd had a water leak around my oil cooler, blew a head gasket and irreparably damaged my engine. There was water everywhere! In my pistons, in my sparkplug spots, and even water in my oil (it was chocolate colored!)
The repair bill hasn't even made it my way but for parts here is what I'm looking at
$1000 for New-to-Me Engine
$300 for Timing and Water Pump replacement
$300 for my Clutch
And $75/Hr Labour
It's definitely adding up.
That was 2 weeks ago. I still don't have my car back.
I don't know why this journal had to happen, maybe I just needed to tell people in more than 140 characters. I just felt the need though to tell you why all of a sudden you're seeing this huge push from me.

I've done big things when I've needed the money before. And a lot of them, I am still working on. The Chakats commission (which is 4 Characters away from Part 1 being done) Boh's Commission (Almost done...) and Duke Commission (All Sketched out). I hate wrapping myself in these projects but at times, I need to. This, again, is one of those times. I'm not trying to make excuses, but I need to take on new work, and I figured, giving everyone an update at the same time would be appropriate. Hope you all understand that I am still hard at work, just need more of it.

#337 - For the Holidays you can't beat home sweet home...
Posted 13 years agoSo this holiday season is going to be a little bit trickier than those of the past. Why, you might ask? Because I finally have a boyfriend within driving distance! Fever Low and I are doing the oh-my-goodness cutesy thing and attending our various familial events. As such, there will be little to no activity on my FA page this holiday season, and I certainly won't be available to take commissions during this time.

20-22 - Fever Low's House - IKEA! followed by the "We survived the end of the world" Party
22-24 - Rhari's House - Driving a friend to the Bus station, Caroling, Rhari's Family Christmas thing

28 - Brunch with Tony and Wilford
28-31 - Pender Island with Fever's Family

#334 - Recouperating, Rainfurrest and Lake
Posted 13 years agoWow! This week has been crazy busy!

So, I won't tease you all by filling this up with Rainfurrest stuff, but I do need to say, this was a great con. I want to do shout outs, but I don't want to miss anyone because every single attendee made my convention experience that much specialer. Next year I think we're going to splurge and get the in-room wireless because it was just too busy on the Hotel lobby's wifi to connect with e'erybody. Lessons learned.
My panels went great and the few we managed to sneak in were excellent too. Fever low and I went to a couple writing panels and a couple comicing panels, which were wonderfully done. It's done a lot to advance our graphic novel/webcomic project we're going to release in the next year. Next year we'll be a little bit more organized for our action poses class and get a dedicated partner for our model to work with, perhaps too, a little more time. One hour isn't long enough it seems!
I didn't get to have all the dinner with all the people I wanted to, but I really appreciate the quiet times I did have with friends. The breakfasts, the dinners and midnight lunches were fantastic. I can't wait until next year.
Lake
Lake is my pet project. I've been playing with it all summer long and it's only reaching it's culmination now. It's a personal project, to prove to myself that I can actually produce and run a comic from start to finish. With Rainfurrest and the last couple months, money has been a little tight around here and it's kept everything afloat.
I still would love to get donations for the pages ahead, there's a couple more scenes that I think everyone will like. I promise, it'll go beyond oral. I just have a fixation xD I'm presently working at page 19. I would love to share it with you, but I also would like something back for the huge amount of work I've put into this.
After all is said and done I will offer the Hi-Res copy for download for $5, which means that everyone who has contributed so far will be receiving a copy in their inboxes as soon as I'm done!
Scheduling
My schedule looks something like this
Tuesdays are Chakat commission days - I'll be streaming 11am-2pm PST every tuesday Here
Wednesdays and Fridays will be for Lake or the Secret Graphic novel project with Fever Low, these will occasionally be livestreamed.
I'll be taking a few commissions here and there, though I will be taking them on a day by day basis. Illustrations and badges as they come, no ref sheets or illustration series or comics. It's just too much.
Life Update
As far as things in my life go, I have a lot coming my way. Monster is in school and she's doing really well, I am going to be looking for work soon, probably in the new year. Until then I will be working full time on my own artwork and the commissions I have and will be taking on a day to day basis. My health is back and forth. Sometimes I am very sick, somedays I feel as fit as a fiddle. It's
Fever Low and I have made our relationship official. After denying it all summer and through the convention, we had a moment and it was powerful. So, I won't tease you all by filling this up with Rainfurrest stuff, but I do need to say, this was a great con. I want to do shout outs, but I don't want to miss anyone because every single attendee made my convention experience that much specialer. Next year I think we're going to splurge and get the in-room wireless because it was just too busy on the Hotel lobby's wifi to connect with e'erybody. Lessons learned.
My panels went great and the few we managed to sneak in were excellent too. Fever low and I went to a couple writing panels and a couple comicing panels, which were wonderfully done. It's done a lot to advance our graphic novel/webcomic project we're going to release in the next year. Next year we'll be a little bit more organized for our action poses class and get a dedicated partner for our model to work with, perhaps too, a little more time. One hour isn't long enough it seems!
I didn't get to have all the dinner with all the people I wanted to, but I really appreciate the quiet times I did have with friends. The breakfasts, the dinners and midnight lunches were fantastic. I can't wait until next year.
Lake
Lake is my pet project. I've been playing with it all summer long and it's only reaching it's culmination now. It's a personal project, to prove to myself that I can actually produce and run a comic from start to finish. With Rainfurrest and the last couple months, money has been a little tight around here and it's kept everything afloat.
I still would love to get donations for the pages ahead, there's a couple more scenes that I think everyone will like. I promise, it'll go beyond oral. I just have a fixation xD I'm presently working at page 19. I would love to share it with you, but I also would like something back for the huge amount of work I've put into this.
After all is said and done I will offer the Hi-Res copy for download for $5, which means that everyone who has contributed so far will be receiving a copy in their inboxes as soon as I'm done!
Scheduling
My schedule looks something like this
Tuesdays are Chakat commission days - I'll be streaming 11am-2pm PST every tuesday Here
Wednesdays and Fridays will be for Lake or the Secret Graphic novel project with Fever Low, these will occasionally be livestreamed.
I'll be taking a few commissions here and there, though I will be taking them on a day by day basis. Illustrations and badges as they come, no ref sheets or illustration series or comics. It's just too much.
Life Update
As far as things in my life go, I have a lot coming my way. Monster is in school and she's doing really well, I am going to be looking for work soon, probably in the new year. Until then I will be working full time on my own artwork and the commissions I have and will be taking on a day to day basis. My health is back and forth. Sometimes I am very sick, somedays I feel as fit as a fiddle. It's

I've been trying to write this for a while, a state of the artist type thing.
My life over the last two months has been ridiculously trying. With my move in May came the loss of my tablet pen, and following that, came the furmeet I hosted, my Daughter's 5th birthday, Dragonrift and I breaking up, and our trip being cancelled. After that I just escaped for a few weeks. I needed some downtime and time to recollect myself. It was a good break and those who knew how to get a hold of me knew I was safe. July followed with my escape, and then the planning of Sixel's wedding, Xanaria's visit and finished with Fever Low's birthday. All of these while maintaining a presence here and on twitter (however minimal.)
Somewhere in the midst of June, my tablet pen arrived and I came back to art, but with the summation of Rift and I's relationship, I didn't much feel like drawing. Taking on a couple commissions to try and revive my muse seemed almost pointless and it's only now that I find myself seriously in the drawing mood again.
On the homefront, my Monster is finally 5 and with that comes school this year. My little girl is going to Full time Kindergarten this fall. With her disability, we've started her cane training (started July 5th) and she's also received her first pair of glasses. They originally quoted us $700 but we managed to bring it down to a reasonable $170, which was amazing! They have an unlimited warranty for the next year, which I am hoping I won't have to use, but am grateful for anyways! She's excited to go back to school and it looks like she will have at least 5 kids from her preschool in her classroom. She'll also have a full time educational assistant and braille teacher. I am thrilled for her.
As for the state of the art
The chakats commission is coming along more every day. I'm slowly getting characters inked and colored. I can't believe how unmotivated I became over this. It's just been this stagnant mess. I feel so guilty over it, but I don't want to give up. I'd posted to the livejournal page I created for it, asking if anyone wanted refunds, but so far no one has bitten (please note me privately over concerns about this particular commission)
My other big commission is coming along and is almost done, which will be a relief to me when it's finally over.
Aside from that, I have been taking a couple small commissions here and there to feed my muse and keep it active. Without the stimulation I am worried that I won't be able to draw anything. It's so hard to try and find a balance between what is owed and keeping active. I hope there isn't too much resentment. I don't want to breed that amongst my business. If anything, if you have concerns, bring them to me, note me, email me, ask me for my contact details, I like to talk for the most part (I don't like being complained at though... I don't deal well with my problems, forgive me, but I don't want to deal with yours on top of it. )
Anyway, I'm going to be here through most of August, livestreaming and chatting and things. Please feel free, if you want me to livestream at a specific day/time, ask me to, I am almost always here. I really appreciate all the new watches and attention, I will try and update you more as things happen in my life.

This wouldn't be such a terrible thing, but I have deadlines and things I am desperately trying to make, As of right now, commissions are on hold until I can manage to get another shipped out to me, which Dragonrift is ordering as we speak. It'll take a few days to ship to him and then another week (or so) to get it to me.
I'm going to do up a bunch of these sketches then in the real and hopefully transfer them over and go from there. Wish me luck! I kinda just wanted to throw this out there so that you guys understand why you're not going to be seeing art from me for a while.

#329 - All Settled In!
Posted 13 years agoFor those of you who don't know, I've spent the better part of this week moving apartments. It was a last minute thing and I am REALLY SUPER DUPER Excited about it! I can't believe I'm finally ABOVE ground.
I saw the sun set, from my OWN balcony, from my own windows, for the first time in 5 years, and I cried. It's been so long since I've lived where I could see the weather, first thing in the morning. I just can't express how much this means to me to have my own space where the sun shines in. I have WINDOWS. Beautiful Massive, 5' tall windows, and I'm the happiest fox. I got to eat dinner on MY Balcony tonight and talk to my neighbors from it! There's so much glee here, expect some happy outside pictures to come shortly!

Every year Rainfurrest runs two major publications for the event.
There's the Rainfurrest Anthology, a collection of art and stories that are published by Sofawolf Press, in which all the benefits go to support that year's charity. The stories are generally themed to the convention and are an excellent read! The anthology is in need of some black and white illustrations for inside of the book. The theme revolves around the universe of Eureka and Warehouse 13. (or in this care, Warehouse FURteen.)
To get involved with this project please email anthology[at]rainfurrest.com for more details and information!
Our second major publication, and that reaches about 1000 people a year is our convention book, or Conbook! :D Again we're looking for artwork around the Warehouse/Eureka universe and that really brings out that sci-fi/Furry/steam punky crossover. :D There are also room for ads, and I gotta say, reaching out to a market of 1000 furries is great marketing!

I suck at dialogue so, as a thing, I kinda stay away from comics. I really wish I could pull of things like Jailbird's Crush comic or Blotch's various comics but I don't have the dedication. I do have a script I've been working on, for almost a year now, and it's been very hush hush but it was written by the amazing tgreyfox and I want to do it justice. I'm just so hesitant.
What do you guys think?

Would you like it to be generally G-PG or would you like me to go all the way?
What day works better for you? Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday?
The earliest I would be able to start is 5pm PST for a scheduled one. Might be able to swing a couple EARLY afternoon ones on M,W,Fs
Would you like me to put up an image, or journal or both when it starts?
What do you guys like most about livestreaming?
Would it be cool if I talked on my microphone?
Would it be even cooler if I accepted skype calls during?

#320 - Too much f-ing snow.
Posted 14 years agoWe got a dump of over a foot of snow over the last two days.
I thought maybe since my mom had taken the Monster to the ski hill this weekend, maybe she would be okay out in the snow.
Nope.
No. No. no. no. no. Why I ever thought that was a good idea, I don't know. IT WASN'T. we fought all the way around the street until we got to the halfway point and said a quick hi to one of our neighbors (who also gave us a healthy dinner for tonight! yay!) Then we got home and I had to carry her over the little lip of the snow to get from our street to our pathway into the house.
Also: I don't think it was a furry but I'm going to sing this person's praises forever! Thank you to the mysterious stranger who dug out my door so we could get out of the house today. Our stairs and door were completely packed in, now we are free to come in and out!
Anyways, we're home now, and I'm happy, relaxed and nomming.
