General | Posted 13 years agoSo, I discovered that trying to stream itty bitty windows doesn't work so well, so I won't be continuing my king's quest for now, though I may if the later ones have higher resolutions to them. For now though I'll be popping up Star Wars Republic Commando, 'cause I have fond memories of that game though it was rather short if I recall.

To my friends in New York!
General | Posted 13 years agoI hope you all are doing okay, I'm figuring most of you are out of power right now, or still with family outside of the city, but I hope you all are doing okay! I'm a bit worried about my friend MikaKyubi, who lives in an area that was hit both by the hurricane and by fires during it. If anyone's heard from them and knows that they're okay, please let me know!

[Update!]
Got in touch with Mika, she's doing well, just without power and net for the next couple of days, so I'm glad they're fine. Her friend FoxChess is a bit more unlucky, they got flooded out and are staying with family.

One of those Livestream thingies! Skyrim!
General | Posted 13 years agoHey folks, decided I'd give one of these Livestream doodads a try for once, I seem to have gotten things going, though without a second screen chatting is a bit difficult. If I can get a proper push to talk function going on as well I can at least begin to use voice with it, mhmm. For anyone interested in checking stuff out and offering advice, the stream can be found here

For now I'm just playing Skyrim as a high elf mage and certified powerhungry douchebag, so things should be interesting, and on fire.

Black Mesa Source
General | Posted 13 years agoI haven't beaten it yet, and am just before the Forget About Freeman chapter, but so far this mod has done an absolutely fantastic job at recreating the Half-Life 1 experience without purely relying on copying the game. The team has changed a bit and done really professional work with modeling, level design, scripted sequences and voice acting. For anyone who enjoyed Half-Life 1, or anyone who never got the chance to, but owns Half-Life 2, download the SDK, then download Black Mesa, it's pretty awesome.

Cali & FC Report
General | Posted 14 years agoFinally got back in from Cali, and doing a bit better with my cold, so I can finally punch this up, mhmm.
The first part of my trip involved visiting my sister and her boyfriend around the Hollywood area, so I got to be all touristy and stuff, but it was mostly about spending some time with my sister, who I rarely get to see these days. We got to do some spiffy touristy things here and there, like walking along Hollywood Boulevard and checking out the hand prints and signatures of famous actors at Gaumen's Chinese theater. That was pretty cool, though I'm a little peeved that smack dab in the center are panels for both Twilight and Harry Potter, both sets having nobody with a strong, illustrious career with any real significance to film. We took an evening trip to Universal's mall thingy, where I got to once again discover that I am -completely- oblivious to folks showing an interest or flirting with me. Lastly we swung by and checked out the LA Zoo, which is a pretty nice area surprisingly, it's still got a lot of natural vegetation and a good layout, though a little sad that some of the animals did not have company of others of their species. I did learn about Maned Wolves, which was interesting, I never realized there were foxes that big out there, heh!
A big focus on the trip with my sister happened to be food, and drink. We ate, and drank, a loooot. First and foremost, if you like Sushi and are out in the LA area, try and locate a Midori's for dinner. All you can eat Sushi for $25, made fresh by the roll... Best Sushi I have ever had, and I hurt soooo much after from eating too much, heheh. It's good, it's fresh, do it. I also fiiinally got exposure to In and Out, which I wish soooo much was here on the east coast. If you like fast food, you'd love In and Out, it's amazing the difference that made-to-order, with quality, can make. If I had my way, I would've been eating there almost every meal. Now, one last thing that gets me some is the liquor laws out there. I live in a dry state, you can ONLY buy liquor and beer and stuff at a liquor store, and not at the supermarket or anything. The quality and availability in Cali was a LOT better than here in Maryland, heck, there's even BevMo, which is pretty awesome in it's own right.
Onto FC!
I've been to FC once before, back when it was at the double tree. I didn't enjoy myself then, mind you, I was making a buttload of con mistakes. Those have mostly been fixed on my end, and the con has improved as well, though it's suffering from growing pains at the new location. For starters, as AC Reg staff, I can assuredly say "We're faster." As is, the convention center/hotel situation seems a bit awkward, there was a lack of a central Zoo area, or an easily located headless lounge, so it made things difficult for just chilling out at times. Organization was alright, and I got to actually check out the panels I wanted to check out for once (It's WEIRD not being staff).
I got to bump into a buncha folks and get to know them better, hung out a lot with some new folks, and got to enjoy the WHEREYOUFUUUCK of the Communist party on Saturday. I think my highlight of the con had to have been the club scene though. A club in San Francisco has a furry night, but during the con they basically partnered with a local club to have their furry night, Frolic, down in San Jose, a block away from the hotel, fursuiter cover was free. The place was -packed-. If you've been to the dances at cons, they're kinda lackluster (In my opinion) 'cause there's too much room, and you feel like you're being judged or whatecer. The club was small, and brimming with energy, you could not go half a foot without bumping into someone, which was good, and spurred on a LOT of motion and dancing (My ankles are still stiff!) It was pretty damn fun, plus the six or seven drinks I'd had helped a bit, heheh. Not too much to talk about really, though I did get to watch Sixpaws begin their epic journey of devouring the five pound Godzilla burrito from Iguana Burrito. Let's just say that it's a surprisingly lewd sight for someone with their mind in the gutter, heheh.
I don't know if I'll be doing the con again unless get a strong influx of money, and a better airline, but for what it was, it was a good con and a good trip as a whole. It was good meetin' the folks I bumped into, and I hope everyone else had fun too, mhmm!
