FC Status
General | Posted 14 years agoBeen havin' a buncha fun so far, even though my feet are thinking homicidal thoughts for all the dancing last night. If there's anyone else about the place that hasn't bumped into me yet and wants to, just gimme a nudge here, either via note or post and I'll check back in an hour or so here and there. For today, look for green plaid-ish and a black messenger bag with red jump wings on it.
Hope to catch you folks about =3

FC Possibility? Looking for room/couch
General | Posted 14 years agoHey folks, I'm planning on taking a trip to visit my sister out on the west coast, and the timing appears to coincide pretty well with that of Further Confusion, I was wondering if anyone knew anyone looking for another roomie, or lived locally in San Jose willing to host a couch surfer for a few nights for the con. If ya do, leave a message or a note with some info, mhmm =3

AC Room Panic!
General | Posted 14 years agoWell, it's about that time of the year for me to panic about my rooming situation at Anthrocon. The person I was supposed to stay with, the same as last year, has been incommunicado with all the attempts I've made to contact them. If anyone has a spare bit of room, or knows someone who does, someone who can be trusted, then please drop me a line.
Thanks

APB Buddy Keys
General | Posted 15 years agoHey folks, just wondering if there were any folks out there that were interested in trying APB, but not sure whether they'd want to buy it to do so. I'm looking for a couple of friends who're interested in coming to try the game out, and I have four buddy keys left to hand out. They're good for 7 hours of action time and unlimited social district time for 5 days. If you're interested, gimme a hollar.

Edit: Forgot to mention, the game is a resource pig, if your computer isn't the best, download the installer from the website first, and it'll tell you if you meet the benchmark to play it before it downloads.

So I made it to AC after all!
General | Posted 15 years agoYep, as the title says! I basically found out last weekend I had the opportunity to make AC due to price and stuff when I was offered the spare bed in a comped room of one of the AV staff who I shall not disclose publicly. Almost had to cancel it for a job interview (I didn't get the job sadly D=) and went up on Wednesday.
Wednesday: So... It turns out something or other bit me on Monday night, all of Tuesday I had these rashes cropping up around my elbows and shins, minor things that I took some antihistamines and cortisone cream for. Well, come Wednesday they were doing a lot WORSE. By the time I made it to the pit to unload the AC truck I was unbearably itchy, nervous, and had the sweats. My arms weren't too bad, just a bit of a rash with itching, but my legs had been getting irritated all day long, my left shin looked like a dog had gotten hold of it and decided to hang onto it all day long. So off to Allegheny General I went.
FYI: Allegheny General Hospital SUCKS. I spent -four- hours in total getting to see a doctor. The first three in the waiting room as all of my self-medication had worn off, and then an hour in a bed in the hallway of the triage center after being called back, then time between doctors. All that for a prescription for some prednisone, antihistomines, and high end anti-itch cream. Spent the next hour getting checked out, into a cab, and back to the con where I crashed for the night.
Thursday: Feeling ungodly better now that my rash was no longer becoming necrotic(Yes, the skin was beginning to DIE) I was able to get to work at the registration desk! 4328 people this year, there was lots to do! Luckily for me it seems that :showiconDaigo: was the first person in the normal registration line, and so I foisted off a sketchbook on him for some porny stuff of Kefkah (Which I'll be uploading later) and went back to work.
Reg went real smoothly, but for folks that're going that haven't before: BRING A GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID! If you don't, it's -so- much more hassle for everyone involved. Pre-reg and bring in a proper form of ID, and if you're a minor, ID, signed and notarized permission slip!
Most of Thursday was work (Didn't make Opening ceremonies) but got to have a bit of fun hanging out with folks that evening.
Did eat at Big Momma's for lunch (Replacing the Steel City Diner), and while the food was quite tasty, it followed the tradition of the restaurant it replaced: Really shitty service. Good folks mind you, the service was just crappy, but Big Momma is a dear.
Friday: More work, but lots more free time as the lines went down, got to check out the dealers room and hang out with lotsa friends that were there, that was good. Not too much else to note about Friday really! Well, except for the group of middle aged ladies that had arrived at our desk looking for the... 'Furry Burlesque'. After a palm to the forehead we settled to the fact that they were just as confused as we were. It turns out one of the local comedy clubs had posted an ad in the Tribune for a show that was to entice us furries to go check them out for a $10 cover to see a comedy act and band show.
Saturday: Workwork chilling and early reg closing, plenty of hanging out and just enjoying the company of good friends. Uncle Kage's story hour was enjoyable as always, though I had heard most of the material months ago at FCN with Rathbone and Tyren (Rath was sick most of this con D=)
Discovered after the fact that while accounting my ADD meds as a contraindicator for using alcohol, my anti-itch meds were too! So while I can do 1-2 beers and stuff on the first meds, the others helped throw me for a happy loop at the cheetah lawn party. I did get to sit down and chat with Zorin and another man I cannot remember the name of right now, and good times were had.
Sunday: Eaaaaasy day, a few people showed up through the day for reg, a bunch upgrading to attending for the second day, which was cool. Gave a tour and a small explanation of the con to someone who was visiting the town and had seen the noise we were making. It got them interested enough to check out the con after buying a daily membership, which was cool!
The charity show was fun, and suddenly had me interested in trying out shrooms at some point in my life just to see what it's like having to walk thirty miles to go ten feet xD
Staff dinner was tasty, and interrupted by Chiaroscuro and Tyrlin standing up and performing a Gilbert and Sullivan routine in order to thank EACH staffer, by name, for coming to help out, which was quite entertaining, and must be repeated and recorded for the future.
I totally crashed at 10 that night without getting trashed first, woke up in the morning, and came on home.

FCN Report
General | Posted 15 years agoHeyo folks! Went and visited
raththomas and
tyren up in their place on the edge of Detroit for Furry Connection North, turned out to be a fair bit of fun, even for a small con and stuff, mhmm!
There wasn't a whole lot going on at the con, but the theme, 'The 80's' seemed endlessly appropriate for the furry fandom, lots of people happily jumped on the theme and went out of their way to embrace it, from old bricks known as portable computers, to ghetto blasters rigged to cellphones to play classic tunes.
I think my highlight of the con had to be the lego room, yes, LEGO ROOM. Gir, the big guy runnin' the con this year, brought in his massive collection of legos for the myriad of some 800 furries to play with. If that's not nostalgia to most of our childhoods, I don't know what is.
Now, I know most furry cons these days like to have video game competitions and stuff, but FCN made one horrible mistake. Right down the hall was the sponsor lounge. Being a sponsor at FCN entitled you to as much of the local beer you cared to have. Couple this with a rock band tournament, the drunken singing got reeeeally wild.
Food wise the three of us with the occasional
dook
dracoofzeradaith
spiketxtyger checked out a local favorite of Tyren and Rath's they refer to as Mongooooo, mongolian barbeque. You basically heap stuff into a bowl, add spices, and hand it off to a guy with cooking swords, who promptly chops the crap out of it on a hot burner, slathers your sauce and spice all over the stuff, and scoops it onto a plate and hands it off to you. Tasty stuff, that.
Kage's Story Hour was enjoyable as always, and because Kage lost all his information about what he told at Anthrocon this year, he gave us fresh stuff! [Fopishtish I say!] which was rather entertaining. It worked for me 'cause he went into his Germany stories, more than appropriate for what I was doing the whole damned con.
What was I doing you ask? I was being an ass! What sort? One with ZE GERMAN ACCENT! I vast goink through ze whole convension speaking with za German accent, much to ze confushion off many a furree type.
It was nice to relax at a con for once, normally I'm full time staff, but I'm glad I was staying with Tyren and Rath, the dead spots cons sometimes have weren't that bad since we got to go and chill out back at their place and mess around with their frikkin' 108 inch projector screen with attached media computer, TV, and game systems! Darn crazy folks!
My only fuss about going up to Detroit was the roads on the way up. If I'm paying a lovely total of $20.80 for traveling the damned turnpikes just one way, then why should I be stuck in gridlock because of construction every two miles?! Tolls are getting out of hand these days, and it makes this fox grumpy, and tired. Eight hours is a meeeean drive to do alone.
Anyhoo! Overall it was a fun, enjoyable convention! Furries and copious amounts of alcohol can be entertaining, but I think I'll just stick to the Canadian Coca-Cola next year, mhmm.

Sketch Tarp Meme

Wog is a jerk and got me into a trap for a sketch, in turn I need to offer 10 -free- sketches to the first people that comment here. I don't promise anything miraculous, and it may be slow, but I'll try and get them done. I got a few rules though. No pokemans, digimon, cubs, diapers, scat, watersports, snuff, gore, or obscene fat (T&A are fine though =P)
Anyhoo, off to the races!

bobby123Did I mention I hate viruses? And now fridays too?
General | Posted 16 years agoToday's been a shittastic day for me it seems. As is I've been dealing with the flu for a week now, so I've been feeling shitty every day all day non-stop. Now, today, was just playing a bit of WoW and BAM, I get this prompt from the default windows firewall nonsense in XP, I go 'Wtf? It doesn't do that.' at which point it starts trying to install a 'preventative measure' of some sort, which I hastily kill off in my processes. Things are okay, I run a scan, clear off the one virus I have, and reboot. At which point things go to shit, it keeps trying to prompt me with the windows firewall, etc, resulting in much ctrl + alt + Deleting, followed by it just locking anything I try to run.
SO! I go to safemode, or try to (XP is a bitch sometimes), and finally get in there, with the virus still propagating in the background. I pop onto SM with networking, begin looking up some fixes, lo and behold the virus has a friend! IEXPLORER.exe is running with it, so I keep having to kill it to open up pages without being redirected in firefox. Get to my information, begin stabbing out registries, etc. Think I have it semi-quarantined as is, running another deep scan while making a backup (Seems my external got compromised by it yesterday, fucker deleted all my system restore points!)
So, while the scan was running, I went out for food (Been sick all week, no shopping done) Taco bell gets my order wrong, etc. On the way back I get pulled over by a cop, lucky me. See, the MVA hasn't sent me my new tags since I paid for them in October. My temporary tag's expired, oh joy. So as I'm going for my registration, bam, my pepsi falls out of the cupholder and spills all over the bottom of my car. For the next fifteen minutes I'm sitting in my cold unheated car, shivering until the officer returns with my ticket (MVA's system was down, joy!)
So after the ticket I finally got to go home, a block away from where I was pulled over. Now I'm just making backups onto my compromised external, as I am NOT going to lose 2+ years of information and crap to some damn dirty virus. I'm hoping I've quarantined it properly so it won't spread to my new install IF I have to reformat.
Did I mention I also have to miss two raids I was scheduled for tonight because of this? Oh joy!
I hate fridays.
[Update!] VIRUS IS GONE! YAYERS!

Someone psychoanalyze this plz!!1
General | Posted 16 years agoGawd, I have the most weird ass dreams sometimes... A lot can happen in a one hour nap apparently! Weirdness is as follows, first described to Andor via IM's!
Like, apparently I'd been IMing with someone and they'd popped the suggestion of coming to Japan. Lo and behold, I'd recently opened a bank account and they had had an offer of... Going to Japan! So I flew to Japan, just me and some copilot and some fucked up controls that weren't inverted right and were way too sensitive. Oh well! Made it, went to visit the person. We chilled for a bit but then they had to go do some stuff, so I went out to look around. Almost immediately I was spoken to by customs, from the airport, 'cause I'd doofed and not entered with a Visa. Seems it's mostly okay, 'cause I apparently have connections and am a cadet...? That's when General Hammond, T'ealc, and Danial Jackson show up. So we go around looking for something, a Japanese stargate link or something.. In the airport/mall thing...
At which point someone comes up to the General with a message, the question of 'what's closed on friday?' comes up, which doesn't really fit in anywhere, when the news pops up of a nuke going off above the nevada desert, killing 56, Samantha Carter (Don't ask where she came from) goes 'Oh my god, mutants!' POV switch ALLLLLL the way to whoever the fuck is going into the blown up base, sorta Modern Warfare stylized, fighting through STALKER mutants which also have the aid of the local biometric sentries...
Bit of bullet time and being downed, but dropping an enemy second winds like in Borderlands... At which I go 'Fuck this bullshit' and wake up.
I have no clue WHAT my subconscious is trying to tell me... But it's fucked up!

General | Posted 16 years agoBlarg, my video board just bit the dust. Hopefully will be able to get it RMA'd soon enough. Currently running on one of my older boards, so I'll still be online and all that jazz, just don't expect to see me gaming so much though.
Birthday on the 17th!
General | Posted 16 years agoSo like, I'll be turning 22 this Tuesday! Go me!
Losin' touch with myself
General | Posted 16 years agoWell, some of you probably already know that I haven't really been, well, Rhen lately, I've drifted off and mostly been the schnazzily dressed fox I am on SL, but even that's sort of waning. Not sure what it's all been about, but I just ain't really felt like being myself in this last year, if not more than that. Kinda wonderin' how many of you all end up that way, 'cause I don't wanna disappoint all you watchers out there if there ain't much more Rhennessa art passin' through my pages.
Anyhoo, hope yer all doin' well, I ain't dead!
