Rhode Island Furbowl 146 - December 13, 6 p.m.
Posted 3 hours agoDue to bowling tournaments taking place at the alley, the next Rhode Island Furbowl will be held on Saturday, December 13, at 6 p.m. at East Providence Lanes at 80 Newport Avenue, East Providence. (MAP IS HERE)
The furbowl that would have been scheduled in January will take place earlier on December 27, again, due to events already scheduled at the alley.
This furbowl will feature our yearly collection of donations for Toys for Tots. If you can, please bring any new stuffed animals or unwrapped and unopened toys and games appropriate for ages up to 12. If you can't afford to buy gifts at major retailers, check your local dollar store or Five Below. Dressing up in holiday costumes is encouraged.
Anyone under the age of 16 who is attending any RI Furs meet must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must stay in attendance at the meet at all times. Preferably, that person should have a familial relationship with the attendee and be at least 18.
The cost is $2 to attend. If you are bowling, it is $18. This includes use of the lanes and shoe rentals.
Do NOT enter the building while wearing your fursuit head.
Do NOT enter the building through the emergency exit next to Lane 1. Come in through the main entrance, pass the front desk and head to the left towards Lane 1.
When you arrive, check in with Cirrus in order to sign in. On the sign-in form, please put down your real/legal first and last name. Do not use initials like "John S.".
All attendees will receive a wristband after they have properly signed in and paid. NO ONE is allowed past the registration desk until you have received your wristband.
If you are planning to pay with a debit card, you must wait until bowling is done. We are aware that some people may have to leave early, but unfortunately, we cannot pay earlier.
NOTICE: Please share the bowling lanes with other people. We suggest to have four to six people on a lane during the night.[/u]
If you see something, say something. If anyone is making you uncomfortable, please bring it to our attention or the manager's attention immediately. Don't wait until after the event.
Any attendee wearing something that can be viewed as objectionable by general public standards, at Cirrus’s discretion, will be asked to either change up, cover up or leave if they cannot comply.
Please be in your fursuit and ready for the group photos when the time comes.

CirrusSkyDragonZootopia 2 movie meet UPDATES (11/29, 6:30 p.m.)
Posted 2 days agoThis is a good problem to have.
There are two major updates in regards to the Zootopia 2 movie meet on November 29:
UPDATE 1: As I type this, there are 37 people signed up and interested in coming with ten days left until the event. The theater has offered to give us a 50-seat theater with the ability to maybe add five more chairs. The price still works out to $18 per person. However, there are no more theaters available if we exceed that. Therefore, attendance in our theater will be in-person first-come, first-served and any extra people will need to attend a public theater for a 7:15 showing that same night. Either way, you're still seeing the same movie.
UPDATE 2: The theater has suggested to NOT use debit cards for payment due to them wanting to have the rental payment done in as few transactions as possible. There also would be a delay in needing to run several debit cards back-to-back. There are about a dozen people on the sign-in sheet who marked that they were interested in using a debit card. Unfortunately, we will need to cancel the debit option and request that those people either use cash or PayPal. Speaking of PayPal, those payments will still not be accepted until Monday, November 24, and there will be an announcement for that.
All other details remain the same:
SIGN-IN FORM: https://forms.gle/h5rYQRz2GbgFCWPr9
FURsvp: https://fursvp.org/event/69/
LOCATION: All South County Luxury Cinemas at 30 Village Square Drive, South Kingstown inside The Village at South County Commons shopping plaza.
DATE & TIME: Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend, November 29. The event starts at 6:30 p.m., the theater will open for us at 7:00 and the movie will start at 7:30. Please be on time.
FURSUITS: Fursuits are not required, but it is suggested that if you are wearing a fursuit, wear it as a partial. There is not a lot of space there for changing into a full fursuit. Please do not wear your heads until you enter the building and check in with Cirrus.

CirrusSkyDragonZootopia 2 movie meet (w/ fursuits) - November 29, 6:30 p.m.
Posted a month agoAnyone under the age of 16 who is attending any RI Furs meet must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must stay in attendance at the meet at all times. Preferably, that person should have a familial relationship with the attendee and be at least 18.
Anyone is who is currently actively banned from the Rhode Island Furs group and its events is not allowed to attend or participate in this event.
UPDATE (11/19) TL;DR:
* We are moving to a 50-seat theater but can't go bigger. Our theater is now in-person first-come, first-served. If we have extra people, then those attendees should go to a 7:15 public showing on that same night.
* Per the theater's suggestion, debit cards will NOT be used that night. Please use either cash or PayPal to Cirrus.
* All other details are still the same.
The RI Furs will be holding a private, fursuit-friendly movie meet for the upcoming release of Disney's Zootopia 2. Please read this post for the important details.
SIGN-IN FORM: https://forms.gle/h5rYQRz2GbgFCWPr9 Please fill out this short Google Form to mark your potential attendance. Cirrus will use this as a check-in list.
The meet will be held at All South County Luxury Cinemas at 30 Village Square Drive, South Kingstown inside The Village at South County Commons shopping plaza. It is easy to get to as it is located right on U.S. Route 1.
The date is the Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend, November 29. The event starts at 6:30 p.m., the theater will open for us at 7:00 and the movie will start at 7:30. Please be on time.
NOTE: We are renting a very small theater that holds only40 50 people. If we get an attendance slightly over 40 50, then the theater will make arrangements to add a few more seats. If even more people show up, then those extra people should go to a public 7:15 screening that same night.
Since this is a theater rental, the price per person will be $18. There will bethree two ways to pay: cash, debit card or PayPal. Cash and debit cards will be handled on that night. For PayPal users, Cirrus will accept payments as early as Monday, November 24, until the day of the showing. There will be a reminder in the future. The $18 cost does NOT include concessions, so you'll be responsible to buy your own food while you're there.
As far as fursuiting in the theater and lobby, it is suggested that you wear your fursuit parts as a partial because there is no party room there, the bathrooms are small to change up in and the only available space to hold fursuit totes and bags is in the front row of the theater. So wearing heads, ears, tails and paws are fine. If you choose to try to wear a full fursuit, you'd probably find yourself changing up in the front of the theater itself. Please do not wear your heads until you enter the building and check in.
If you plan to eat before the event, restaurants in the plaza include Applebee's and Pokémoto as well as two Italian restaurants, a Thai restaurant and a coffee house.
If for some reason you are travelling from a longer distance, there happens to be a Hampton Inn hotel next door to the theater.

CirrusSkyDragonPre-RI Furbowl park meet - October 25, 3 p.m.
Posted a month agoNOTE: This is likely the last pre-furbowl park meet this year due to the weather.
Weather permitting, there will be a furmeet at Slater Memorial Park at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, before the furbowl. This is a quiet place to socialize and meet people instead of the noisy bowling alley. You may walk around the park rather than stay in one place. THIS MEET IS OPTIONAL. You do not have to attend this meet. The main event for the day is the furbowl.
The location to meet up will be in the parking lot of Daggett Farm in Slater Memorial Park. The address is 401 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. (MAP IS HERE) It is less than ten minutes away from East Providence Lanes. We shall stay there until about 5:45 so we can then drive to the alley.
Fursuits are allowed at the park. You would have to change up by your car. Remember that there is a furbowl taking place that night, so don't overexert yourself.

Posted 2 months agoAnyone under the age of 16 who is attending any RI Furs meet must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must stay in attendance at the meet at all times. Preferably, that person should have a familial relationship with the attendee and be at least 18.
We are planning to have corn maze meet with fursuiters next month. The location is Escobar Farm at 255 Middle Road in Portsmouth. This will take place on Saturday, October 18, at 11 a.m. There is no rain date.
Admission is $10 per person and if there are 20 or more people in our group, the price will be reduced to $9.
There are other events at the farm including hay rides ($6) and a pumpkin patch.
Fursuits are allowed here! It's preferred that you wear a partial fursuit due to it being an outdoor event. We will NOT have a designated space for breaks and changing up, so we'll have to use our cars. Be aware of your limits while fursuiting and take breaks if needed. Anyone who is not fursuiting will be a handler. We shall do one half of the maze, take a break and then do the other half. You do not have to wear your fursuit into the maze.
Remember that this is a public event with families and children present. Be on your best behavior at all times. You are representing the Furry Fandom while you are there.
There are potential plans for the group to go out for lunch in Middletown after the event, so plan accordingly.

CirrusSkyDragon"Walk ALS Rhode Island" charity walk - August 24, 9:30 a.m.
Posted 4 months agoWe shall once again continue our annual participation in ALS United Rhode Island's "Walk ALS Rhode Island" event to raise money for ALS research in memory of Tony "Dogbomb" Barrett. For those who do not know, Dogbomb was a furry from California who passed away in April 2019 after a year-long well-publicized battle with ALS. Since his diagnosis in March 2018, furries worldwide have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for ALS research and continue to do so today.
This event will take place on the morning of Sunday, August 24, at Bryant University in Smithfield (1150 Douglas Pike). The walk will be on the running track next to Beirne Stadium. There will be plenty of parking.
Registration check-ins will begin at 9:30 a.m., but we should arrive earlier, probably closer to 9:00. The walk itself starts at 11:00.
We are currently working with the organizers to see if a locker room will be available for us as a changing and storage space. Stay tuned for details and any developments.
A team donation page has been set up for "Team Tony (Dogbomb)." If you intend to be there participating in the walk, you must register as a member of the team. There is a $10 registration fee which is a donation. After that, you can hit up your friends and family to raise money under your name. If you are NOT going to be there, there are links to donate either directly to the team or to a team member. We are looking to get furries from all over to participate, so please spread the word on social media. Our current fundraising goal is $2,000.

CirrusSkyDragonRhode Island Furbowl - June 7, 6 p.m.
Posted 6 months agoThe next Rhode Island Furbowl will be held on Saturday, June 7, at 6 p.m. at East Providence Lanes at 80 Newport Avenue, East Providence. (MAP IS HERE)
The cost is $2 to attend. If you are bowling, it will be $16. This includes use of the lanes and shoe rentals.
Anyone under the age of 16 who is attending any RI Furs meet must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must stay in attendance at the meet at all times. Preferably, that person should have a familial relationship with the attendee and be at least 18.
NOTICE: Please share the bowling lanes with other people. I have noticed in the last couple of Furbowls, I have had to open up an extra lane because people are either coming in late or not sharing lanes. At the last Furbowl, there was one lane that had two people on it all night and one lane with three people on it all night and one person was found bowling on both of those lanes. The price for bowling was determined by considering an average of five people on one lane for 90 minutes. If we don't share lanes and more lanes have to be opened that night, then I won't break even and I have to personally pay for the extra lane(s). My suggestion is to have four to six people on a lane during the night.
Do NOT enter the building while wearing your fursuit head.
Do NOT enter the building through the emergency exit next to Lane 1. Come in through the main entrance, pass the front desk and head to the left towards Lane 1.

CirrusSkyDragonPre-RI Furbowl park meet - June 7, 3 p.m.
Posted 6 months agoWeather permitting, there will be a furmeet at Slater Memorial Park at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, before the furbowl.
The address is RR 1A (Newport Avenue), Pawtucket.
