Roger Williams Park meet - May 24, 1 p.m.
General | Posted 7 months agoThere will be a furmeet on Saturday, May 24, at 1 p.m. at Roger Williams Park. The address is 1000 Elmwood Ave, Providence. The meeting spot will be at the entrance of the carousel next to the parking lot, NOT THE ZOO! The park is free; the zoo is not.
Because this is the weekend of Memorial Day, there may be more people there than usual. Be aware that this event will be out in public with families and children present. Please be on your best behavior and use common sense. You are representing the Furry Fandom while you are there.
Fursuits are welcome and have been worn here in the past. Just be aware that this is an outdoor event in public and there will be no changing spaces or break areas except for your cars. Bring your own water bottles. If anyone asks, we are not panhandling, promoting something, protesting anything, nor soliciting for money. We are just there to hang out.
There is no set time for when we will be done. Plans for what to do after the furmeet are up to the attendees. If you want to go out to eat together or hang out at some other place, it's up to you to decide and it should be organized sooner rather than later.

CirrusSkyDragonRocky Point & Oakland Beach/Iggy's meet - May 18, 11 a.m.
General | Posted 7 months agoThere will be a two-part furmeet gathering on Sunday, May 18. You are NOT required to attend both events. There is no rain date.
We shall go to Rocky Point State Park (1 Rocky Point Ave, Warwick) at 11 a.m. The meeting spot will be in the big parking lot inside the park, not the small lot at the corner of Palmer Avenue and Rocky Point Avenue. The park is mostly walking trails and fields and there are barely any facilities, so be prepared. Fursuiting is allowed there and you would have to change up by your car. Be sure to bring water. Because it is a State park, you must remove your own trash when you leave. We shall stay until we decide to leave.
The second part of the day's events will be to head to Oakland Beach and Iggy's restaurant (885 Oakland Beach Avenue, Warwick). It is about a 10-minute drive from Rocky Point. This area is usually very crowded and parking may be limited. You may pick up food at Iggy's front window or we may go inside if there is space. Expect there to be a wait for food. There are also tables around the buildings and in the park by the beach nearby.

CirrusSkyDragonRhode Island Furbowl - May 3, 6 p.m.
General | Posted 7 months agoThe next Rhode Island Furbowl will be held on Saturday, May 3, at 6 p.m. at East Providence Lanes at 80 Newport Avenue, East Providence, RI. (MAP IS HERE)
The cost is $2 to attend plus $14 if you are bowling ($16 total).
Anyone under the age of 16 who is attending any RI Furs meet must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must stay in attendance at the meet at all times. Preferably, that person should have a familial relationship with the attendee and be at least 18.
Do NOT enter the building while wearing your fursuit head. We and the alley staff need to see who is arriving. You should not be wearing your fursuit head or anything that covers your entire face while checking in. Do NOT enter the building through the emergency exit next to Lane 1. You should come in through the main entrance, pass the front desk and head to the left towards Lane 1.
When you arrive, please find Cirrus sitting at a table in order to sign in. He will be wearing a blue hat with white horns. Don't just walk on by past everybody. For liability reasons, we must know who was there in case something happens and if we have to look up who was in attendance that night. On the sign-in form, please put down your real/legal first and last name. Do not use initials like "John S.".
All attendees will receive a wristband after they have properly signed in and paid. NO ONE is allowed past the registration desk until you have received your wristband. This includes those who are carrying totes and boxes for their fursuits. You will have to hold your stuff while waiting in line to register. Anyone found without a wristband will be asked to register immediately. If you refuse, then you will be asked to leave.
Many people use debit cards to pay their admission. Unfortunately, the alley will not allow us to pay until the timer for the lanes has finished. Therefore, if you are planning to pay with a card, you must wait until bowling is done. We are aware that some people may have to leave early, but unfortunately, we cannot pay earlier.
If you see something, say something. If anyone is making you uncomfortable, please bring it to our attention or the manager's attention immediately. Don't wait until after the event.
Any attendee wearing something that can be viewed as objectionable by general public standards, at Cirrus’s discretion, will be asked to either change up, cover up or leave if they cannot comply.
Masks are optional. If you would feel more comfortable by wearing a mask, you may do so. The situation with the coronavirus is still ongoing.
The group photos will be taken at about 7:15. Please be in your fursuit and ready when the time comes.

This includes those who are carrying totes, bags and boxes for their fursuits. You will have to hold your stuff while waiting in line to register. Anyone found without a wristband will be asked to register immediately. If you refuse, then you will be asked to leave.
COST: The cost is $2 to attend plus $14 if you are bowling ($16 total). When you arrive and sign in, you will note how you are paying: either with cash, a card or Paypal. Please do not forget to pay.
BOWLING: $14 TO BOWL. There are likely going to be four or five lanes of ten-pin bowling (not duckpin). Rental shoes are picked up at the front desk and included in the $14 price. You may go to the front desk at any time you get your shoes. If you have a fursuit, you can walk on the lanes with footpaws. The lockers on site are NOT for our use. They are assigned for the alley's league bowlers and are charged yearly rates. You would not be able to use them. If you have valuables, then either lock them in your car or keep them with you at all times.
PARTY ROOM: It is an open space with tables and chairs, however, it is not secure and you should keep an eye on your valuables (personal electronics, fursuit parts, etc.). Since the room is being used for fursuiters, please bring any fans, extension cords or power strips.
FOOD:
* Outside food is allowed. There is a concession stand on the opposite end of the alley and you are free to purchase things there. There is also a bar and all standard Rhode Island alcohol consumption laws are in effect. Underage drinking is not allowed and do not buy drinks for those who are underage. If you do drink, please do so in moderation.
* We usually have post-bowl dinners at local restaurants in either East Providence or Seekonk. Please make arrangements with others while the furbowl is going on to decide on where you are going. Please try to limit your group to less than ten people to a table or split the entire group into separate tables so that you don't have a significant delay while at the restaurant that late at night. It is also recommended to call ahead and see if the place takes reservations or if they can arrange tables for you.
DRESS CODE AND FURSUITS: Ears, tails, collars and fursuits are welcome. Please do not wear any clothing that is overly revealing or features offensive words or images. The party room can be used as changing space and a break area for fursuiters. There are also bathrooms where you can change up instead. As mentioned before, the party room is not secure, so you should keep an eye on your valuables. If there are too many fursuiters using the party room that day, it may be converted to a fursuit lounge and non-fursuiters would be asked to stay outside the room.
PHOTOS/VIDEOS: If you are taking pictures or video, please ask for consent from your subjects. Some people may not be comfortable being filmed. A group photo is usually taken during the event. This event's group photos will be taken at about 7:15. It is always announced early to give people plenty of time to be prepared, yet some people change up at the last minute. Please be ready for the group photo on time, especially if you are going to be in fursuit. There are an X/Twitter account (@RIFurbowl) and a Bluesky account (@rifurbowl.bsky.social) for the event. Use these usernames and/or @RIFurs/@rifurs.bsky.social in your posts with pictures and videos of the event.
If you see something, say something. If anyone is making you uncomfortable, please bring it to our attention or the alley manager's attention immediately. Don't wait until after the event.
Please clean up after yourselves when you leave. Be courteous to the bowling alley and place the bowling balls back onto the racks when you are done.

CirrusSkyDragonToys for Tots collection & Restaurant meet - Dec. 14, 2 p...
General | Posted a year agoNormally, we would be doing our annual Toys for Tots collection at the December Furbowl, however, there is no Furbowl this month. Instead, we are going to drop off our items directly to a location and make an event out of it with a restaurant meet as well.
The date and time will be Saturday, December 14 at 2 p.m. (The rain date will be the next day, Sunday, December 15 at the same 2 p.m. time.)
The drop-off location is the Cardi's Furniture store at 1681 Quaker Lane, West Warwick (near I-95). We suggest to drive to the store from the south to avoid the holiday traffic on Bald Hill Road (Route 2). Please use Exit 24A on I-95 South and then take a left when you get off the exit. The store will be right there on your left.
The plan is to arrive at 2 p.m., wait in the parking lot for about a half hour for any latecomers, and then go inside to drop off our toys. We don't expect to stay in the store for more than five minutes, so please do NOT bring your fursuits.
After this, we will head down the street to a nearby Panera Bread at 1000 Division St, East Greenwich, for a restaurant meet. This is NOT the Panera Bread located on Bald Hill Road. You are free to sit where you want or with other people.
As far as toys: Please bring any new stuffed animals or unwrapped and unopened toys and games appropriate for ages up to 12. If you can't afford to buy gifts at major retailers, check your local dollar stores or Five Below stores.
If you are not able to attend at all, then you will have to find a Toys for Tots drop-off location near you on your own time.

CirrusSkyDragonMonster Mini-Golf meet - October 13, 3 p.m.
General | Posted a year agoAnyone under the age of 16 who is attending any RI Furs meet must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must stay in attendance at the event at all times.
A fursuiting mini-golf meet will be held at Monster Mini-Golf in Seekonk on Sunday, October 13, at 3 p.m. They feature 18 holes of indoor miniature golf under blacklights with a ghoulish monster theme and some arcade machines. The address is 140 Taunton Avenue, Seekonk, MA. It is behind the Price-Rite supermarket.
We will have a party room! Please arrive early so that we can take advantage of it. It will be used as a storage and changing space for fursuiters. There are no plans for bringing food there for our event.
Admission costs $13 per person for one round of 18 holes. Please pay Cirrus when you're there.
There should be a maximum of four people playing on a hole at the same time. To keep things moving, you should have a maximum of six strokes on a hole. If you can't score after that, move on to the next hole.
We are only going to be there for a few hours and then it is likely we'll head out for dinner afterwards. The place to eat has not yet been decided.

CirrusSkyDragon"Paws in the Park" charity dog walk - Sept. 14, 9:30 a.m.
General | Posted a year agoAlong with the ALS Walk in August, we are looking for people to attend and donate to the RISPCA's 22nd annual "Paws in the Park" charity dog walk next month. The date is Saturday, September 14. Events start at 10 a.m., but we would suggest to try to arrive earlier. The location is Goddard Memorial State Park, 1095 Ives Road, Warwick.
This event will feature a dog walk through the park, vendors, food trucks, a canine costume contest and activities for families.
Fursuiting is allowed at this event. We are in the early planning stages. We currently do not have any type of tent or private changing space, so if anyone has a tent or a tarp to use, please let us know. Please bring your own bottled water. Anyone who is not a fursuiter should act as a handler or take photos and videos.
Because this is a charity event, you are encouraged to make donations. You may donate on-site or if you want to donate now, you may go to the following fundraising page under our team name (Rhode Island Furs): https://givebutter.com/pitp24/rhode-island-furs-1
Because this is an event for the general public, all attendees are expected to behave in a responsible manner and dress appropriately. You are representing the Furry Fandom when you are there. If you are fursuiting, please be sure to clean, wash and brush your suit before the event. If you have a partial fursuit, please cover up any bare skin.

Do NOT enter the building while wearing your fursuit head. We and the alley staff need to see who is arriving. You should not be wearing your fursuit head or anything that covers your entire face while checking in. Do NOT enter the building through the emergency exit next to Lane 1. You should be coming in through the main entrance and you must still see Cirrus to sign in.
When you arrive, please find Cirrus sitting at a table in order to sign in. He will be wearing a blue hat with white horns. Don't just walk on by past everybody. For liability reasons, we must know who was there in case something happens and we have to look up who was in attendance that night. On the sign-in form, please put down your real first and last name. Don't put in initials like "John S.".
All attendees will receive a wristband after they have properly signed in and paid. NO ONE is allowed past the registration desk until you have received your wristband. This includes those who are carrying totes and boxes for their fursuits. Unfortunately, for now, you will have to hold your stuff while waiting in line to register. Anyone found without a wristband will be asked to register immediately. If you refuse, then you will be asked to leave.
If you see something, say something. If anyone is making you uncomfortable, please bring it to our attention or the manager's attention immediately. Don't wait until after the event. If a person who has been banned from the RI Furs group arrives at the bowling alley, DO NOT ENGAGE THEM. Please contact an admin immediately and let the admins talk with them. Do not try to do anything yourself and definitely do not get into a confrontation with them. If for some reason you have to talk to a banned individual, it should be done outside of the venue and away from the event space.
Any attendee wearing something that can be viewed as objectionable by general public standards, at Cirrus’s discretion, will be asked to either change up, cover up or leave if they cannot comply.
Masks are optional when attending. If you would feel more comfortable by wearing a mask, you may do so. The situation with the coronavirus is still ongoing.
The group photos will be taken at about 8:15. Please be in your fursuit and ready when the time comes.

General | Posted a year agoWe are continuing our annual participation in ALS United Rhode Island's "Walk ALS Rhode Island" event to raise money in memory of Tony "Dogbomb" Barrett. Dogbomb was a furry from California who passed away in April 2019 after a year-long well-publicized battle with ALS. Since his diagnosis in March 2018, furries worldwide have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for ALS research and continue to do so today.
This event will take place on the morning of Sunday, August 25, at at Slater Park, 401 Newport Avenue in Pawtucket. (MAP IS HERE) This is the same location of the pre-Furbowl park meet. Check-ins will begin at 9:30 a.m., but we should arrive earlier, probably closer to 9:00. The walk itself starts at 11:00.
A team donation page has been set up. If you intend to participate in the walk, you must register as a member of the team. After that, you can hit up your friends and family to raise money under your name. We are looking to get furries from all over to participate, so please spread the word on social media.
