So I'm a quarter century old now
Posted 5 years ago:3 ... I feel old.PostyBirb
Posted 6 years agoo3o ... this isn't a proper journal but like, oh my god this utility XD I used it once several months ago when it wasn't as good, but now it's fantastic~ It even re-uploads pics on FA so the quality isn't decreased, meaning you don't have to do a thing manually~! Which is good because I was not about to post all these pics manually owo
Only thing I can say it needs is a spell check and it's golden ^^ fantastic work Postybirb team!

No Page today and an apology
Posted 7 years agoWell owo first week of me trying the 2 pages a week and it's already failed, not because I can't do it, but because I need absolute focus to handle these lengthy sprints from sketch to complete, and tonight my head is all sorts of frazzled. So I will have to post page 21 tomorrow when I'm able to focus better and produce the page.
That said, I am sorry .w. I'll try to avoid this for the remaining 9 pages.

Commissions are open, again :3
Posted 8 years agoWow I write so few journals the last one was an announcement for the prior commissions o3o oh well, they're open again after a hiatus period :3
You can find the sheet here
Opening Commissions~
Posted 8 years agoHello again :3 Commissions are open once more, and this time with purpose (Have some shopper's guilt to work down),
so if you're interested
You can find the sheet here
A petty milestone~!
Posted 8 years agoToday, on the day I hit 22 I reach the 500 watcher mark :3 I can't help but feel it took me way longer to achieve this than it should have, oh well, see you at the 1,000 mark
Doing some maintenance
Posted 8 years agoHai :3 if you're bored enough to take interest in reading this trivial announcement, I will be updating all the links to the higher-res images, because Drop Box will make the public folder private, and all my works are hosted in a public folder. So all links will be unavailable for about an hour or so.
Along with that will come the cleaning up of some submission titles (Removing the "(Sweaty ver. in desc.)") Because at this point everyone should already know there's a 90% chance that the image will have an alternative version o3o and also doing away with some unwanted scrap images, that folder has held enough shame, time to get rid of some of it.
But that's all I have, see ya :3

I've been featured in the Paw Post :3
Posted 9 years agoCould you believe it? ^w^ their standards probably fell so low...
But anyways, you can find the journal here featuring it

Closing commissions until further notice
Posted 9 years agoAlright, so as of recent, time has been getting difficult to manage, now that I have to worry about work and all that. So I'm closing commissions for now.
This doesn't mean that anyone who has a reserved slot won't get one, I just don't want more reservations to come owo along with that, I need to re-think price. Time has gotten a lot more valuable, as has production quality. I won't raise them to ludicrous amounts, just enough so I feel like I'm not selling myself short (Just watch the interest for them drop instantly, wee~)
And don't worry, if you had a reserved slot prior to this journal I'm not going to change up the price on you, that would be scummy of me.
So yeah, that's all I've got,
Bye :3

Made a petty victory
Posted 9 years agoOne of my submissions finally reached over 100 favorites ^w^ by 1 favorite, it's so petty I almost didn't make this journal :3 ...
Sorry for wasting your time o3o I'll go back to my corner now

How a glove changed my view of art
Posted 9 years agoThis glove, I got it on Black Friday with the intention of it helping me draw better, since it's an artist's glove, and it keeps your pinky and ring finger from rubbing up against the tablet and making friction. And up until 2 days ago, I didn't have a chance to use it, but when I did use it, it was almost magical what it did. Within 2 hours of using it, I was unable to draw without it. And just yesterday it made me realize how much of a crutch my thicker outlines were. and because of the lack of friction, I figured that I could use a slimmer brush and have relatively no trouble.
And when I tried using a slimmer brush, I got an epiphany. I didn't need to be perfect.
(And to quickly clear up, it wasn't just the glove and the slimmer brush that caused this, there was a few other things that lead up to this. The glove was just the straw that broke the Camel's back.)
To clarify "perfect", a while back, after the gallery restart and the whole hiatus situation, I thought that because I was unhappy with my work, that all I needed to do was to try and become "perfect" with execution. And that for me translated to a "vector aesthetic", where I would make a picture look like it was done in vectors because of how smooth and crisp all the lines were, and because I saw vectors as a perfect means for art because it's all math, no rasters to be found.
For the longest while, I've been doing that vector aesthetic, polishing it, and perfecting it to the point where I plateaued with its quality. Which isn't really good because as a developing artist, I need to continue improving, and going into this routine with the same thing isn't good for that. But I kept doing that and got into this bubble of comfort where I had no confidence in my decisions, and relied heavily on other people's approval to feel good about it... the problem there, however, was that I surrounded myself with people who thought it looked good and never had a problem with it. So my design choices were never challenged, and as a designer, it's good to have your design choices challenged, it makes you improve on them and have a backbone of support for your choices. I didn't have that for my artwork.
And to top it all off, I never really was happy with the vector aesthetic. It's clean, it's orderly, it's structured, but it's not fun. And that's what I realized when I used this glove yesterday. Drawing these thin lines with a slightly uncomfortable polymer glove was fun if I messed up a line I could just erase the wrong part, and continue from there. Instead of constantly undoing and re-doing the same line. That's not fun, that's being a robot with a faulty arm, and frankly that's not how I want to do this hobby. I say hobby because I never considered taking Art as a full professional career, just something that I enjoy doing.
So, what could this mean for commissions I'm currently doing? Well, the pictures are likely going to come out better than what is intended because now I'm going about them in a better way. But if it isn't desired from the commissioners, then I'll revert to the older way of doing things for those pics.
As for streaming schedule, I'm not going to be doing things on just Friday. I've had to go for almost a week of no streaming because of it and it has been the hardest week in a long time. I need to stream, it's like a stress relief for me owo.
But yeah, that's all I have.
See you :3

Streaming and finals week
Posted 9 years agoWell o3o it's going to be a fun week and a half. On December 9th I finish college, and will be graduating, and in classing college tradition, finals week is going to eat up all of my time.
So what would that mean for streaming and drawing? well, I'll still be drawing when ever I can, but as far as streaming goes, I think it has to be limited to Fridays only, at least for these 2 weeks. The streams will be longer, 5~6 hours, and hopefully involve several images, rather than the standard 2~3.
So yeah, not sure what's going to happen after these 2 weeks, but for now, streams are limited.

Back in college~!
Posted 9 years agoMan this Summer lasted a long time, but I'm back ^w^ Sadly though, for only one semester, because I'm graduating early .3. ... oh well o3o I'll be sure to make the best of it ^^
So I've been in FA for 5+ years
Posted 9 years agoThis is very petty and irrelevant~
But It's only just hit me that I've been on this site for over 5 years (anniversary was July 5th... HA), and wow o3o .. in that time, I've grown quite a bit, now instead of being derpy and friendly, I'm now cynical, blunt, dickish, and a friendly person :3 (Love me ;w;)
And As far as art is involved, it's finally at that point where I find it *cough* acceptable *cough, cough* but yeah, it's been 5 good years :3 *He lied* Cheers to another 5!

Being locked out, and now joining FN
Posted 9 years agoThat was a rather, bothersome past couple of days o3o it's not nice being locked out, it feels very despairing XD but anyways, I'm back~
And as the title suggests, I am also on FN now, because I'm taking a liking to the site, and frankly I don't know when another one of FA's calamities will cause something this major again to happen, so if you're in the community, let's have a chat ^^
