anthrocon 2025
Posted 4 months agoits been a year I should post a new journal.unfortunately for the 2nd year in a row I wont be attending AC.Come hell or high water I plan on going next year for sure! In the meanwhile I hope everyone has fun, stays safe and practices good hygenie and rest and diet so you dont get sick while at the con.I recomend masking up indoors in crowds but you do you .
antrhocon 2024
Posted a year agoUnfortunately I wont make it this year. It`s a real bummer but I cant financially justify it at all.I hope to maybe go next year. I had gone every year since 2000 ( minus the 2 pandemic years of course when there wasnt a con) I hope everyone who does go has lots of fun and keep safe and doesnt get any illnesses. (remember no matter how many people want to pretend otherwise covid isnt gone .its going to be stuck with us for years probably so try to take precautions when around big crowds please. Asian people have been masking up in crowded indoor areas for decades)
xmas oddness
Posted 2 years agothis isnt a rant .its a more wtf? . the local high school is less then a quarter of a mile from my rental house.I can hear the school bells and intercom when its quiet and im in my living room since the window glass sucks.anyway the bells have been ringing here at 9 and 915 with music. Um.. High school..youre not open on Christmas morning .are you drunk?

Posted 2 years agonothing much exciting going on with me but I will be at Anthrocon again though this years hotel situation was a shit show.I had to go get some nights on hotels.com since the con room block sold out at all hotels in like 2 hours
so some news for 2022
Posted 3 years agoI decided to book a room for anthrocon. Hopefully this years con actually happens.I booked a room at the Omni.So hopefully I shall see some of you there.
its been over a year again?
Posted 4 years agojust posting a short thing to bump off the previous journal. I`ve not experienced any work stoppage from the viral pandemic. I have been fortunate so far not to get it *knocks on wood*I assume wearing masks, not going out in big gatherings, getting a shot (J&J) and a booster (Pfizer ) helped .Regardless,I`m hoping 2022 turns out better soon. I have a big debt ending in March and then I can start making plans about moving (I`d like to buy a house but with the exploding market here I think I`ll have to rent.but no matter what I`m tired of apartments and hope to get out of this one. It`s feet away from a major street so I constantly hear traffic >;p I also want to take a few trips if the virus can stay semi under control eventually here in 2022.I`d like to visit a friend in the midwest for several days,go to anthrocon and visit family in Pittsburgh, and maybe take a 3 week trip to visit a friend in norway (I took a trip to see different ones in Finland in 2018) and see my friends in the uK as well, maybe swing by Germany and see a fox friend for a few days too.
its been a damn year
Posted 5 years agolike literally almost been a year since I posted a journal though 2020 has been a damned year too. so lets share something good. You all know Red Letter Media right? Well if you dont you should..half in the bag, best of the worst..lots of cool movie and tv show reviews and analyisis of them by some comedian dudes from Wisconsin. https://www.youtube.com/user/RedLetterMedia
Anyway this is only tangently about them, but theres a youtube video where Mike and Rich sing a Baby its cold outside parody . check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXh.....ture=emb_title
also check out the animations on that channel with the cats too!

been back from denfur
Posted 6 years agosorry it took all month to update that ;p so I got there and back safely. it was a bit small of a convention but not too small. But it was small enough I never got badge checked until Sunday which I a found amusing. Also another example of it being small was the artshow. One of the most informal ones Ive run into in my years and years of going to fur cons. There was no bidder sheets other then attached to the art pieces so you needed your own pen and paper to keep track of your bids. They just had a 3 ring binder notebook to write down names and info to hand out bidder numbers.I think I was number 49. And finally reg was in the hotel lobby. On the positive side, being a small con meant the lines were never bad.
The dealers room was poorly laid out with only one way to travel through it .It was a long winding corridor. The artist alley room was as big as the dealers room and was ridiculously sparse.that was poor planning on their part. The hotel had a long winding hallway that wrapped around the convention space so it got crowded easily at times. also speaking of crowding... people REALLY need to STOP taking pictures of fursuiters in the middle of hallways and dealer room alleys. Its so damn rude to halt everybodys progress just so you can take a photo. there usually are designated areas for such things.
I got a few good commissions at the con. The voice actors (the main cast of agretsku ) were all fantastic especially Ben Deskin . Though I dont think they ever once used their provided dealers room table which was another dealers room mistake by the young convention. To be fair to the voice actors they had nothing to sell and their autograph sessions were in the hotel lobby so there was no reason for them to be in the con dealer room.
I ate at the blackeye pea restaurant a few times which was nice. Also ate at Fazolis on the way there and the way back .
Stats for the con were attendance 2,735. Charity raised over 14,000.and the theme for 2020 is Renfair. I`m not sure I`ll be back next year though.I might give it another year to grow. I might hit BLFC next year and or maybe the san antonio fur con besides my usual Anthrocon I go to every year.

Well its been a month since I came back from my trip I better write a journal before I forget all of it XD
No real proper full report here.I`ll just put down what I can remember.
I flew out of Seattle via Icelandic air Monday Aug 13th and I wouldnt make them my first choice. They don`t feed you automatically on international flights unlike many other airlines I`ve flown. At least though they offer seat back tablets to watch movies unlike a certain Canadian Airline ( WestJet ) I flew at the end of my trip who rented those to you.
I flew to Reykjavik,Iceland to switch planes. Our flight out of Seattle was delayed well over an hour and despite assurances to the contrary by the airline we landed with a need to dash to the other gate to get connecting flights. AND I had to go through customs first! But to their credit they held the flight long enough even though it was to take off roughly when I landed at Reykjavik. It helped customs was really fast. And like several of my other flights we took buses from the gate to the actual airline.I noticed that a lot and I assume its because airports are getting over crowded and the actual airplane isnt always at the gate to directly board. The flights to Reykjavik and then to Helsinki were uneventful.I wasnt able to sleep on them though so by the time I landed I was fairly tired. But it was Tuesday and I had travel ahead of me so no sleep for me anytime soon.I met a Finish roo friend of mine at the airport and he drove me to Joensuu in a borrowed car of a friend of his.I met her briefly when we returned to Helsinki and she seemed rather nice.
So anyway a 4 plus hour drive to Joensuu with stop for food and gas at a gas station .I tried some finish food at a restaurant they had there.I think it was some fried covered meat with veggies and potatoes. It was tasty enough especially considering where I ate it. Lots of trees in Finland. I mean LOTS! Pine as far as you can see. I put up with a drive to eastern Finland because I wanted to see the countryside. If i go again (which I`d like to ) I want to see northern and western Finland as well. We ended up staying at an old hotel in downtown Joensuu.I was ok if plain and a bit outdated.I had my first experience with something I never saw before even in my trips overseas. A blanket equivalent of a pillow case. I slept on it for this night because I was too tired to figure it out.But I now know that in Finland people put their blankets in large pillowcase things. The reason is to keep the blanket from getting all tangled up .It makes sense I suppose but was very odd to me. Anyway on Wed we looked around the town a bit. IWe ate at a Hesburger a local chain that is pretty good. .Did you know there are kmarts in Finland? well they arent the american chain though its a series of grocery/other goods stores called K-citymarket.I think there was also s-marts which no I saw no Ash working there. Oh and btw, burger King serves beer at Finish locations. That was different.
We drove another hour to Kolifreetime a camping ground near the Koli national park. We spent Wed,Thursday and friday nights there and left for Helsinki on Saturday. While in Koli we looked around and hiked some. All I have to say on hiking is..I`m not in good aerobic shape XD
In Helsinki besides enjoying the pleasant temperatures I experienced the whole trip ( 60-70`s F ) I saw some museums (like the and national monuments.we met
SonicFoxhoundone day and ate at a nice Italian place. That was fun to see another Finish online friend.I hope to run into him again someday. oh also we stayed in a work colleges place of my Roo friends while in Helsinki and I had 2 observations. One is there was a lot of mosquitos around so I dont understand why places dont have screens for their windiws especially if they dont have air conditioning ! ANd also Finish people have cupboards above the sink that drain their wet dishes into it.I ahad never heard of that before. It`s a pretty good idea actually.
I also ate at a TacoBell over there.I have seen lots of American companies on my travels this year (Chile,Argentina,Finland,Iceland,Germany,UK,Canada )but it does strike me as weird sometimes. They marketed it as " if you never try youll never know" in English combined with "live mas" in Spanish and of course all the Finish and Swedish you see everywhere there so it was a jumble of languages which youre not use to eating in the USA.Anyway the Taco Bells there have more of a meal approach then value items. So you pick an entree and the protein (they had beef, pork, chicken and veggie options ) and a side (spicy chips or fries) and a drink which had free refills which is a given in the USA but rare outside of it.
Public transport is great in Helsinki.I bought a multiday pass and took the subway, bus, light rail trolleys , a ferry to Suomenlinna on my last day (wed) and a real train to the airport. I highly recommend using it .So I had donuts twice at a chain called Arnolds that was good. I went to a few Moomin shops while looking around (moomins are like a series of books and comics feature horse/hippo looking like creatures)bought fancy expensive chocolate covered liquorice by Lakrids at a department store. Ate at a pizza buffet place called Rax which was pretty crappy actually and dont recommend it even as an all you can eat place . On Monday or Tuesday we took a bus to Porvoo which is near by and walked around the city proper. It was very nice.I had some local homemade ice cream and bought a print of a fox painting and saw a small old fashioned toy store which was fun to look around in. I highly recommend looking around there if you have the chance.
While looking around a big bookstore in Helsinki I found a hard cover book called Ahistunu pupu which is all about a cute bunny guy who has severe anxiety issues. http://ahistunupupu.tumblr.com/ I think I want to get some art of him sometime. also anyone know if there are translated strips ? the google translate just translates the stuff on the page not in the strips.
Anyway like I said earlier the last day I was there Wed aug 22 I went to the island fortress suomenlinna. It really has no purpose now as a defense but a long time ago it was a place with many canons posted to defend Helsinki. I spent several hours there and you could probably spend a full day there if you wanted to. I flew an Easy Jet discount flight from Helsinki to Berlin for EF around 9pm. I`ll leave off here and do another journal for EF and a final one of UK/Canada.

anthrocon 2018
Posted 7 years agoback from Anthrocon as of friday.I spent the rest of the week visiting family back in Pittsburgh.Too busy still to write up a full report but suffice to say I had fun and Ill be scanning and posting some art soon enough.
thoughts on BLFC
Posted 7 years agoso a week later I suppose I should write down some rambling incoherent thoughts about the con before I forget them all.
First off its a long drive from Phoenix to Reno. 2nd Reno was a lot colder then I expected. It was like low 60s and overcast and windy.I was not prepared for that.I packed shorts and tshirts.I had to buy a pair of long pants Friday.
So I picked up my badge thursday evening. That was really quick.Met up with a fur I and
SamWiding was sharing the room with
Fraddas and got him situated. I wasnt excited about being in a casino on multiple floors at first. It took me a few days to get used to the layout.specially since the first day I was all wasted from 13 hours of driving. On top of thta my guts felt off most of the con as well.Im not sure if it was something I ate on the way to the con or what. Regardless it meant I didnt do too much at all after the dealers room closed each day but either have dinner or hang out in my hotel room.
Speaking of which,I have no idea what the casinos hotel rooms where like.I decided to go a few months before the con and of course the main hotel was long sold out. That seems a common trend these days at fur cons. I stayed at a Quality Inn very close by.It was nothing special but was clean and had decent beds so it was fine.It had one of those crappy free breakfasts though.Id starve if they didnt have the waffle maker at least. That was really the only good part of it other then some bagels I put jelly or honey on.
Anyway to the con itself,I liked the dealers room layout mostly.I liked the concept of the overflow dealers room being first giving them even more exposure then the main room. But since it wasnt free it was always half empty .Proving a small artist alley part would of been nice. The main dealer room had a small adult room connecting into it with photo ID check.I think thats a decent compromise to allow like dildo sellers like bad dragon to be there but not make the whole room seem like a sex expo trade show or some crap. I get the idea they were trying with the open area. But between the tricycles being ridden outside of it (almost running me over twice) and the wasted open space.I think it could of been used better.Even if it wasnt any dealer space added some tables and or tables with chairs would of been nice especially since they were selling food in the dealers room.I walked off to the nevada room to eat food i bought on Sunday when I was feeling too hungry to wait until dinner. That room was good sized and had lots of tables. What was even more impressive was the gaming room. Lots of stand up consoles of obscure japanese vieo games.I was very impressed!
So the food options werent bad.Friday I did run off to Claimjumpers with my roomate. But the other days I ate there at the casino. There as a buffet (of course) a mexican restaurant/bar, a steakhouse,a 24 hour diner, a starbucks, a sub place,a yogurt place, a johnny rockets, a pizza place.I ate at johnny rockets and the mexican place called Catina. It was all decent food.
Ok so on to what I bought, I bought a bottle opener,a mousepad and some books from Brae,I bought a charm of 2B from cheesycrocs,I got stickers and a commission from deadbombart, got some charms from lemoncreme, a cartoon tarrot deck and a judy hopps mini keychain daki from a dealer I cant remember and the website has seemed to have taken down the list of dealers from this years con already for some reason >:P , I bought a daki pillow case of ankha from animal crossing and a mini daki keychain pillow of isabelle from a dealer I cant remember the name of ans again I cant go to the con website and see anymore, bought a gator book by redicnomad, I got a cute animal crossing book and a commission by cinamoncune, stickers and a commisison from pmoss, some stickers from onnanoko , a commisison from portzebie, a commission from kacey,a commission from mango poptart, a commission from cutecumber,a commission suzibean, 2 commisisons from brian reynolds, a commission from tooiebird, a commission from mokusei kaze, a freebie from nanimoose, commission from giddeon, and a commission from hkasof.
Overall I`d say I had a good time. The drive was a bit much on the 2 lane roads in the dark in northern Arizona.Maybe I`d try the longer drive that goes on the bigger roads.

Posted 7 years agoI am here.after 13 hours on the road.I`m tired I`m crashing for a bit
blfc con and south of the border
Posted 7 years agoso yesterday i came back from a week long trip (and a day going to and back) to Chile and Argentina.I hung out with
la-frugele and her boyfriend in Santiago Chile for 3 days. and then I hung out in Buenos Aires Argentina with
helmeetelgato .
I had a great time.It was my first trip ever south of the USA border before. I wish I spoke more Spanish but overall with my friends help I didnt have any difficulty since they both spoke really good English. also I briefly met
Wanny while in Chile as well.
Of course no trip is without setbacks.Among the lowlights was the government not having a record of nattys reservation for us to see the presidential building in Chile, and later that day i set my camera and phone on a counter next to me and when my back was turned for 2 minutes they were stolen. The phone was old but what sucked was the data lost on it and trying to replace my ability to call the usa. prepaid plans with international access suck ass down there. The only main downside of Argentina was it was kind of rainy and snacks like sodapop or chips at stores are mildly expensive. But I had good food and good times with my kitty friend so I`m glad I came. though the 9 hour flight to and 10 hour flight back not to mention the flights to and from houston and the flight to BA from SA all makes me not want to fly for awhile. I did get to see the frog princess, justice league, Coco,Ferdinad, and the greatest show with Hugh Jackman as PTBarnum
Then after working here for 7 straight days I`ll be hitting the road once again to go to BLFC in Reno,Nevada. Maybe I`ll see some of you there?
