fantastic mr fox
General | Posted 16 years agoI`m sure a lot of you already saw this. I caught the Fox a few days ago .I`m glad I did.Its out of the local place by me now.I assume it will be hitting discount theaters now.
If you get the chance,I highly recommend seeing it.It really is fantastic! It has good voice acting and little touches like how they would eat (kind of like cookie monster) .It was full of the querky oddball humor that Wes Anderson is known for in his films (which for some I`m sure is a negative. But I like them) Too bad it sort of bombed in the movie theaters. Thats 2 of my fave movies this year that did poorly :(

Astroboy
General | Posted 16 years agoI just saw it today. I havent seen anyone discuss it.Maybe I just missed it.Its a really REALLY good movie in my opinion!Astroboy is well written and well animated! I`d give it an A+ !
Its a shame though it looks like it will bomb at the box office . It made 6.7 million the first weekend ,meaning a sequel is very unlikely :( Id recommend seeing it in theaters while you can!

A Pennsylvania grandfather was found guilty of groping Minnie Mouse at Walt Disney World.
John William Moyer, 60, was convicted of misdemeanor battery for the June incident, the Orlando Sentinel reported, and is under supervised probation for 180 days, complete 50 hours of community service, pay $1,000 in court costs and submit to a mental evaluation with treatment if necessary.
Moyer also has to write a letter of apology to the victim, Brittney Duncan McGoldrick. McGoldrick testified that Moyer grabbed her private parts while he laughed a "creepy laugh," according to various reports.

musings on a few trips
General | Posted 16 years agoI wont do a detailed report from my 2 trips (AC and San Deigo comic con ) but I will post some thoughts for my own edification if nothing else.
Anthrocon:
ok This con started out messed up.I used a buddy pass from my dad for going to Phoenix to Pittsburgh.I dont recommend ever doing that when you really want to get somewhere at a specific time. Not since the airlines have cut back so much on flights.I landed in Pittsburgh on Friday around 7pm .So needless to say that threw a huge monkey wrench into my plans.I thank Daverab for checking into the room so our other roomies Tecopet and Legionred had a place to stay Thursday night.
I used supershuttle to get to the con after I picked up my luggage and drove with one other person. It turned out pretty funny. The driver started telling us halfway there after I discussed sports and other local issues I was familar with about the weirdo sex fur people in town.He then caught himself after a minute asking "neither of you guys are furs right?" and amusingly enough both of us (sorry forgot the other furs name since then) were headed to the con.I gave him a good description of what the fandom is in my opinion and hopefully he learned a thing or two.Neither of us were mad ,just amused really.
I got to my room at the Courtyard and checked in,Met Legionred who was back in the room briefly and picked up my supersponsor swag and badge and made it in time for the art show dealers recepetion thing.I kind of went crazy bidding which I won a fair share of the pieces and thus didnt get many commissions this con (just a Dingbat,Kitsune, a sketch from GOH Ben Ballisteri,a sketch from tailsrulz, and one still being worked on by dcrabbit,I also set up a future commission this summer by ValK when shes free ) I bought a few comics and art cds and some original art from Drakefenwick but this con I didnt spend as much as previous years.
I had a good time but had some people I didnt get to f=do things I was really hoping to do with some people *emo tear* After the con Mythicfox and his friend and I stopped at a REALLY good burger joint called 5 Guys Burgers. If you live in the northeast area near one I would highly recommend it! I then spent a week with family around western Pittsburgh area suburbs. I spent way too much money that following weekend buying Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penquins stuff since they both won championships this year.
SD Comiccon : I flew out (normally thank god no buddy passes this time) on wed morning of the con.I got my badge from a friend who is a dealer at the con (and owns a local comic book shop) and got me one with his booth so I could go in early and or stay late each day if I so chose. I met old artist friends, bought a con shirt, bought a big thick hardcover book about the 40 years of the con.I bought some hentai at JList.I bought some SonicX stuff like key chains and wallscrolls and coolest of all a Tails hat (like those top half head of their head hats of Sonic and Shadow I had seen before) I attended the masqurade .It had 45 or so groups or solos contestant entries .But it was mediocre compared to last few years. Its still damn hard to get into filling up quick in the giant ballroom upstairs over the dealers room.I bought some neat prints and stuff from Chris Sanders (creator of Lilo and Stitch) I bought some anime figures.A few Steelers figures. I got a giant poster by Doug Tenapel of Evil the cat ( from Earthworm Jim ).And I got commissions from Ben Dunn and Fred Perry.
And also attended many panels such as Mythbusters (fanboy *squeal*) , Human Target tvshow, a Ray Bradbury panel (famous science fiction writer who is 89) , a few cartoon voice actor panels, and quick draw (a whos line is it anyway style panel with a host and 3 artists who drew their responses. as always its Sergio Argnoses, ScottShaw!< and a guest. This year it was previous Anthrocon GOH Flyod Norman. )
I flew back sunday night late and totally broke! (had technically no money in the checking if everything cleared ..which it didnt before I got paid this past weekend) and like a dollar in my wallet.I used several Burger King food prize game pieces this past week I had saved up for just such an emergency. Now comes the catch up with my bills month of August.I had fun though so thats good. Also got away from the gawd awful heat of Phoenix for almost 3 weeks between the trips .It was in the 70s in both San Diego and Pittsburgh!
Oh and one last amusing thing about S.D. airport. They have a cute silly security video they play before you get to the security checkpoints.Maybe its on youtube I havent checked. But it has the San Diego Padres mascot , a Legoland person, a killer whale fursuit (for Seaworld) and a panda girl fursuit (for the zoo obviously) telling you what youre supposed to do and not do going through the checkpoints. Also I found it extra funny about the panda girl. She had a human guy with her and he couldnt get through security because he didnt have a ticket. As she goes through he makes a "call me" motion with his hand to his face.I laughed imaging human on panda relationships implied even if they didnt mean to!

General | Posted 16 years agoWell It caught me by surprise so I imagine some of you might have not noticed it either. Tiny Toons season 1 volume 2 came out Tuesday. Another 4 dvds and 30 episodes including the music video episode. Also Freakazoid season 2 came out. So that completes the Freakazoid on dvd :( *wishes there was a season 3 and 4,etc * )
