where oh where is my popcorn...?
Posted 2 years agoHOLY SHIT.
so last night, the Orange Fuckwad went on Faux News and allowed himself to be interviewed - and it was like watching a car crash into a train and then the train went over a cliff in flames............
Jack Smith had to be sitting by the TV taking a LOT of notes for the trial. and probably eating popcorn the whole time.
Sooooo im gonna be a little bit a liberal dick for a moment and excuse me my politics. :D but this is kinda important and while its fresh in my mind i wanna share my thoughts/opinions.
okay so trump got asked a number of questions and i want to bring up the iran war plans document supposedly in trumps possession in Maralago in 2021 after the election. he is on audiotape talking about war plans with Iraq that had been discussed that would help get him re-elected because no one usually takes out a president during wartime. trump last night went through the same shpeel hes done since the investigation began. Basically he says the docs are rightfully his, he declassified them, and etc. etc. okay, sure....but on that audiotape he clearly says he WANTED to declassify this doc but now he cant because hes not president anymore.
so then he answers, well he never had that specific document.
so....................... just so im understanding here, the document hes caught on audiotape referring to doesnt exist and besides it was going to be declassified but he couldnt do so, so he had his aides hide them for almost a year after receiving a subpoena demanding them back.
so...................... just speculating here. A federal judge recently demanded that trumps lawyers receive permission to view the docs trump took from the white house. now.................. if the docs were already all declassified as he says...................... why would lawyers need clearance? and why didnt trump argue that.............?
Stick with me.............. it gets even more crazy. So last night trump is asked by Faux News why he really had all these boxes and why was he keeping them.... so trump argues that he didnt know what was in these boxes. he just simply started grabbing boxes up and shipping them off, there was no time to go through them at the time, because they were in such a rush to leave. so this is trump now admitting............. yes ADMITTING that he DID take classified docs outta the white house, including military secrets, nuclear info, etc. He admitted it. But then........... he turns around and says that he declassified everything. id like to know what right he has to declassify sensitive documents like that. im pretty sure military secrets, nuclear capabilities, army strengths, etc. should NOT be publicly shared to the world.
so we have a man who last night incriminated himself. he was ordered by his lawyers not to discuss the case and thats exactly what he did. He pretty much acted as his own attorney last night and is preparing for the insanity plea, i kid you not. Hes in high dementia by this point and his MAGA morons are shouting about "civil war" at the drop of a MAGA hat. let me tell you, im not at all worried about trumps outcome, hes doomed. thats not even gonna be a question. what i worry about is his base because they are fucking CRAZY... theyre in a cult now and as one MAGA asshole said the other day, hes just waiting on trumps orders............................
thats insanity.
and we're not done yet, sports fans, there's still investigations into the incitement and insurrection, the Georgia election attempt at extortion and racketeering which will obviously spill over into other states, and that old chestnut, the "election fraud" and all that lovely "stop the steal" money that poured in unaccounted.
GET A LOT OF POPCORN.

DOJ Indicts t-Rump on 7 charges
Posted 2 years agoGuess they didnt need Steve "Homeless Guy" Bannon's testimony after all.
I'm happy but this is just the tip of the iceberg. We got Georgia to iron out and more violations in NYC to answer for.
in a way im NOT happy... this was the former leader of our nation, and he never changed. He kept being the same fuckwad, vengeful, petulant maniac he's been his whole life. I DONT understand why. to become president means you serve this country and try not to do anything to horribly divide us....
unless of course he was indeed bought and paid for by Russia like the Steele dossier claimed years ago. it would certainly make a lotta sense because last I remember, t-Rump was a libertarian... and ran as one in his last political try.
and he would never......... NEVER associate or even count himself among these MAGA pinheads with no brains or class...
something STINKS. Now the big question: who is t-Rump gonna roll over on to save his orange ass.................
STAY TUNED

DOJ ready to indict tRump on Espionage and Obstruction
Posted 2 years agoMark Meadows will plead guilty to several federal crimes in exchange for immunity.
Arrest could come as early as tomorrow...
Violation of the Espionage Act.................
Um, yeah, didnt see that one coming.
Oh wait, yes I fucking did, i did say Day One of this Orange Meat's presidency that hes been bought and paid for by Putin with the one goal to destabilize the country.....................
Unless you wonder what espionage is folks, they must have evidence tRump did a lot more than HIDE docs................
I think he gave some to other people..........
This is what the violation means: "To convey information with the intent to interfere with the operation or success of the armed forces of the United States or to promote its enemies' success."
Remember when they used to execute your fucking ass for that shit.................?

The movies that made me.......... #4 - OVER THE EDGE
Posted 2 years agoWhen I was in my sophomore year of high school we had a pretty interesting homeroom session now and then. For those not in the know, homeroom was where everyone met to get counted as present or absent, and you could goof off for about half hour or so and chat with friends or get that last bit of homework you neglected last night, or cram hard for a test or quiz.
Be honest, you all did it. :D
Anyway, one May morning the homeroom was packed a bit more than usual and there was a projector set up and we inwardly groaned because that usually meant we were gonna see an “educational” film of some sort, like how to be clean, or the life of a bumblebee, or something like that. So the teacher there says we need to see this movie and he got it from a friend he knew and he had managed to get us out of regular classes that morning to show it…
Okay, that’s interesting. We sat down and hushed and watched the movie.
That movie was “Over the Edge” and its an overlooked gem of a late 70s film about a group of inner city kids forced to live in a gated community away from the city, and the trouble they bring to the table. See, this movie was based on an actual event written up in a 1973 San Francisco Examiner issue called “Mousepacks: Kids on a Crime Spree” in which uprooted kids brought vandalism, drugs and violence to Foster City, California…which at the time was about to sprout Silicon Valley as we know it today. But the kids, being pulled away from what they loved in the big city, didn’t fare too well so they exploded in rage and took out frustrations on the small town. And this is the crux of “Over the Edge”.
A large group of families have moved from the big city of Denver to a planned community away from it all and unfortunately they didn’t take into account the children – because no one ever thinks of the children………… as drugs, fights, vandalism, extortion and attempted murder start blossoming outwards, its up to parents, the police, and teachers to try and bring about order outta chaos.
And it doesn’t work. Not even a little bit.
I don’t wanna give away too much but the movie really impressed me. I watched these kids on screen trashing a library, taking acid and having trips, having unprotected sex, and sadly being killed and im all of 15 years old. But it DID something to me. When the movie was over, a lot of kids just chuckled and got up and left but I sat there watching the blank screen, thinking of what I’d seen and heard and………… I guess it didn’t make sense to me. Why kids do that. Why they vandalize, take drugs, get themselves killed…. Was life so bad for them that they felt they needed to try to rebel, to revolt, with such destructive, deadly consequences?
I thought about my own life… uprooted from a big city, Nashville, and stuck in a small town in Ohio, Elyria… I missed some of that big city life, you bet…………. But I never once EVER thought about tearing something up or hitting something with a baseball bat, or punching someone in the face, or ANY of that shit… and this movie explained why very nicely. Even today…as outdated as it is, I would say this film should be REQUIRED VIEWING in any high school in the world…
yeah, kids get BORED, we get it… when we didn’t have the internet, or video games, trust me, there wasn’t a LOT we could do… so I read books, and I went to summer camp, and I joined the boy Scouts, so I was always busy. :D I didn’t have time to think of drugs, vandalism, fights, or anything like that…
Im sad when I think of all the kids who didn’t make it like me. When I was in my early 20s…it COULD have been me… I was hanging out with the wrong crowd, and they did a lotta acid and got into fights and sometimes we would all hang out in the parking lot of Hills Dept. store along with a multitude of muscle cars and women. That got to be my Friday thing for a while. But then I got a job and that all changed…I was a responsible adult again and I dropped those kids like bad habits.
But it was “Over the Edge” that convinced me that, hey, I gotta be a grown up. So what if im uprooted and feeling lost, or I don’t know what to do, or where to go…. It doesn’t mean I needed to be a rotten child or get a police record. If only a LOT more kids had seen this movie, I just wonder where theyd be today. Even now, thinking about my old gang, I looked up one of them just as an afterthought and he’s dead.
Of a drug overdose at 28.
Hell…… that coulda been ME.
So…thank god I saw this movie when I did… seeing it again on HBO a few years was literally a wake up call for me. :D it made me realize…. Slow down…life is precious. How we spend it is all to us. :D
(Quick note: this is actor Matt Dillon’s first film appearance before “Tex”, “Little Darlings”, and “the Outsiders” and he was AWESOME. Also I think one of Vincent Spano’s first performances… these kids were great. :D PLUS: a KICK-ASS soundtrack featuring Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Jimi Hendrix, The Cars and the Ramones. the late GREAT Kurt Cobain of Nirvana said of this movie, "Over the Edge pretty much defined my whole personality. It was really cool. Total anarchy." I'd say it did the same for me too. seeing anarchy in a bunch of kids was the shot in the arm i needed NOT to wage anarchy.)
Definitely give this film a watch. Sadly the film's release was bad timing. "the Warriors" and "the Wanderers" had just come out and producers were worried about showing something like this around the same time... so it only got limited viewings and in not many movie houses.
Which is a damned shame because i think this would have saved a LOT of lives...........

yeah, kids get BORED, we get it… when we didn’t have the internet, or video games, trust me, there wasn’t a LOT we could do… so I read books, and I went to summer camp, and I joined the boy Scouts, so I was always busy.

Tech Tip: Is your WP site mobile ready?
Posted 2 years agoWordpress people, im talking to you. :D
Got a quick tip i wanna share on this because its been something I really count on. if you own a website on Wordpress, and you trust yourself in editing a few bits without breaking the site, (im not responsible, BTW :D) then do this if you want the site mobile friendly:
Go to your Dashboard (be in wp-admin mode for this, so its https://your full domain/wp-admin and then select "Appearance".
From there you want "Theme file editor" and then you want to scroll through the file list on your right to look for "header.php". This is your main template for the website, how its gonna look and feel. this is different from the style.css section that lets you set allllll the fun fiddly bits like text, links, image projection, etc. so dont mess with THAT unless you iz a guru. :D
you'll get a warning from WP saying stuff like "dont mess with this shit, n00b!" :D ignore it and just say that yes, you want to mess with it. :D
Now open "header.php" in your -- you know what, before you do ANYTHING, BACK UP your site. :D The Updraft plugin is great for this, and it should be free. (if not, there's manual ways to do it too through FTP, you can do eet!)
So you open header.php and you want to look for lines that start and end with <head> and </head> it doesnt matter if theres already stuff in it, its fine. Many themes add all kinds of stuff. :D select any place within these <head> and </head> lines and add the following line by creating a new line with enter:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
What this is essentially gonna do is when a user comes to your site, automatically the site will check to see the user's viewport, be it a PC screen, tablet screen, mobile, etc. Based on the viewport type, the meta tag will then display the correct "content" automatically, using the "device-width" (meaning based on the viewport, for example a mobile phone, now the content will be displayed as it should for a mobile phone.
The "initial scale" tag indicates basically that the pixels according to what your device is capable of vs. what the pixel settings are in the CSS (stylesheet; that style.css file i told you not to touch) no matter what the device orientation is. so in this instance, we're telling people "your phone is capable of 3.2 megapixels so this is how you'll see content" - which also takes full advantage of landscape views automatically.
Run your site through a mobile-friendly checker like this one:
https://search.google.com/test/mobile-friendly
and you can test to see how things went. (Im getting SEO certified for all kinds of stuff too, so i can help folks get their sites working well, and ranked higher on Google search pages, so feel free to note me about that too. i'm very cheap.) :D
incidentally, you DONT need Wordpress to rank high, i just use it so much, its like second nature to me. :D

that one quote from a friend is eerie:

to the prominent artist here who tried to make me think Russia was going after Nazism in Ukraine last year...
dude, have you changed your mind yet...?

The movies that made me.......... #3 - THE DOUBLE MCGUFFI...
Posted 2 years agoGod bless Joe Camp.
Hes always going to be known for the family gem "Benji" film series and a lot of people still give him credit as one of the first directors to use a stage animal throughout an ENTIRE movie, we're talking from sun up to sun down, his antics, his places to go, the people he meets, everything. "Benji" (1974) is probably one of the most perfect animal adventure films youll ever see. :D (definitely see it if you haven’t yet)
But of course you say, ‘okay but WTF is the Double McGuffin???’ :D
It’s a 1979 Joe Camp film about a group of high school football players who discover an assassination plot. And that should be all you need to know to think ‘huh. Okay, I should check this puppy out!’
That’s basically what the TV Guide read when I checked it out and HBO was just getting its roots. These were the days of the “early cable”, you know, those shiny plastic boxes with the Chicklet keys. :D You could rig a small cardboard piece, some aluminum foil, hell, just about anything to unscramble a signal and “port” it to any room in the house. My fortune was that we could port it downstairs in the basement where my bedroom was, and let me tell you guys, the Cinemax “skinamax” movies were quite arousing to go to bed to. :D
So its 1981. I’m 14, brisk March day, and “The Double McGuffin” is on HBO. I take a look at it….. THIS WAS A DAMNED GOOD MOVIE! :D I hadn’t ever heard of it before and it didn’t get any run in theaters that I was aware of, so it must have gone right from Camp Productions to video.
The movie stars Dion Pride, (yes, country singer Charley Pride’s son) as the quarterback at this prestigious academy and his friends (including one guy you MIGHT know, Vinnie Spano) who have a penchant for rigging the system, shall we say. Underage drinking, loud music, phone phreaking, computer hacking, these are a bunch of little scamps. But then a briefcase full of money changes everything, and these kids need to use a lot of cunning and smarts to unwind the puzzles and guess whats going on.
Its just so cool. When I watched it, I swear I immediately thought I should get a computer. So I managed to get a commodore Vic-20 the very next month (after much begging and pleading and chore-doing) and sat down and……………………. Didn’t play games. :D
Nope…I started writing.
The Vic 20 had a powerful word processing program I got from Compute! Magazine (yeah, memories!) and I was excited. I wrote about a kid growing up on the wrong side of the tracks with a street gang and thrust into a murder plot and it became “RiffRaff”. To date, I haven’t found that document. But there’s a whole bunch of floppy disks in my possession that MAYBE its on, so who knows, maybe I’ll figure out how to read them somehow and publish that novel.
I credit “the Double McGuffin” for truly creating my writing career…I was still in Boy Scouts at the time, so I was still going through the merit badge BULLSHIT that was supposed to show you where your talents are. Was there ever a merit badge for writing and creative arts?! Don’t think so! Back in those days, you were in basic ARMY training, dawgs. :D
“the Double McGuffin” also had some pretty potent movie stars attached. Oscar Winner Ernest Borgnine, famed actress/model Elke Summer, football giants Ed “Too Tall” Jones and Lyle Alzado, and the king of the mountain, Oscar star George Kennedy as the beleaguered police chief of the small Washington DC town. :D (filmed in Georgia)
So yeah, I wish this movie had gotten more attention. It might drag a bit in spots, and the child actors surrounding Pride weren’t so hot (Vinnie was okay though, Vinnie is ALWAYS okay) :D I would have loved to see a group of British kids doing the roles and maybe there’s a remake on the horizon, who knows, since Camp is still alive and well. :D
JOE! You reading this?!
REMAKE! :D
It’ll be a smash hit. Guaranteed. ♥♥♥

Forgot how CREEPY "Pulse" is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JFC! OMFG!!
Posted 2 years agoI'm mad at Maxine.
This was Max's idea to show this and i hadnt seen it in a long time.
and watching it last night, I REMEMBER WHY.
it is FUCKING CREEPY. Its an overlooked J-horror gem from 2001, about a group of people starting to suspect that the spirit world is overcrowded and ghosts are starting to infiltrate the human world via the internet.
theyre correct, of course.
but the brilliance in "Pulse" is pretty much why i love "IT FOLLOWS" as much as i do. A terrific use of camera, lighting, shadows, and pacing.............. its BEAUTIFUL. The movie also glorifies suicide however so those who get depressed easily or have a hard time dealing with death and afterlife ideals stay the fuck away. This is not for you.
"Pulse" single-handedly not only makes you afraid of ghosts but of death itself.... and its that finality, the reality that we all truly die someday, that pumps this film up into a mega-hit. I sometimes find it terrifying to just one day not exist anymore...and what keeps me from going crazy is embracing life and not worrying about death. And folks, i'll be honest, you are NOT going to like the ending. Instead of leaving any kind of hope, any shred of peace or promise.... "Pulse" goes right to the jugular, bites down hard and doesnt stop til youre drained dry.
it is a VERY scary, bone-jarring, emotional power ride. I cant believe it didnt get more attention when it was out, but I guess a lot of films lost their edges after 9/11 happened... and since Pulse was released in January of that fateful year, well maybe they saw something coming..........................
"Pulse" is rated R for some random acts of violence but overall, probably safe for teens..... oh who am i kidding, keep teens AWAY from this....
lets not give them ideas! =P

The movies that made me.......... #2 - AKIRA
Posted 2 years agoPicture it. A hot July summer night in 1988. Instead of going out to the lake to try to hook a girlfriend on the beach (or a sex partner as the prostitutes loved to troll out there at Marblehead and near East 55th pier), a friend of mine calls me up and tells me about this new animation show theyre doing out at Case Western Reserve and wanted to know if I would be interested. I said, sure, too hot out that night anyway. I asked what was playing this time (they used to do short cartoons and innovative CGI and CAD graphics) and he said he didn’t know, they were gonna surprise us.
My interest being piqued, we decided to check it out. So we get to the auditorium on campus and the announcer walks out on stage first and welcomes us and that we’re about to say something amazing straight from Japan. (I mean, straight from it, because someone must have been able to get a copy or something of the reel and internationally ship it overnight.)
So the announcer says, “And now…Akira.”
Lights fade. A hush falls over all of us……………………..
And OMFG!
It was beautiful. It was like my love for anime had just increased from 10 to 11.
327 glorious color pallettes, the likes that had never been seen before on film.
The animation so smooth and flawless it felt like we were watching a real-time movie.
The dystopian, post-apoc setting, the characters, the unbelievable attention to details…
this had gone light years above anything id been watching since the early 70s, with Battle of the Planets, Kimba the White Lion, or Speed Racer (which im sorry to say makes me think hes having an orgasm every time he turns the wheel. Id kill to watch a subtitled Speed Racer sometime. I bet its MUCH better)
Light years, like I said. Anime to me was never the same after this. And yeah I know there were some awesome anime films before this one, like Harmageddon, Grave of Fireflies, and a few early hits from the amazing Ghibli, etc. etc.
But THIS…. This was ground-breaking to me. For a time I had kinda given up on anime and felt it was really never going to get the attention it deserved and I sure as hell wasn’t intrigued by much of what I had seen to this point.
But…….my eyes were opened. And my heart swelled with love for anime once again. I had seen the GREATEST anime movie of all time. When we left the auditorium and drove home, we couldn’t stop talking about it, every scene, every detail… from the thunderous motorcycle chases to the climactic ending of Akira becoming his final form….. that ewwy, gooey…. Fleshy….. ugh, hard to describe it. :D
When I got home, I called my friends and the minute the English version came out, you KNOW we were right back in the theater and watching it again.
Akira didn’t just open my eyes again to anime – but to animation itself.
The very next year “The Little Mermaid” hit theaters and since I had applied for Cal Arts the year before (a lot of the animators were CalArts students, you know) I felt I should watch it just to be supportive, even though I didn’t get in.
And like before I was mesmerized. :D But had it not been for “Akira”……. I really don’t think I would have had such a love for animation that I do today. “Akira” stroked my anime love but it also gave me a fresh look at animation in general. For its NOT really just an anime gem, its true animation at its finest.
My love for animation was reborn and I thank god I was around that hot July night to experience probably one of the greatest moments in animation history. :D
