I've fallen out of love with this account a bit. I dont update here often.

I want to have my actual username rather than RikDik. When i made this, Rik was a cool nickname, but now I've named my comic that, it feels weird to be called Rikdik on here.

I want to start posting my comic on here but its weird that its got the same name as my username...

Its weird having a confused identity and if I made a new one I would have a set sona and no-one would get confused. Plus I just want the same username throughout all my accounts tbh.

Would you guys be okay with me switching to a new account? Seems a shame to leave this one and I know its a sort of minor problem but its been bugging me a lot.

I want a new wallpaper for my laptop. Been using the same crappy anime screenshot for like 6 months and I want something shiny and new.

Anyone open for a full colour wallpaper shaped comm? Prolly something summery with my OCs, not sure which ones yet ehh. Monkey and Hyena or maybe my deer characters.

Theres too much to say about my wrist in one go but basically its been weeks since i've drawn and im finally trying some again

It will be very short, couple of hours tops, and i may have to switch between my left and right hand at times to make things easier on my injury

Something I'm curious about. What site colours and template are you using? I always used the classic dark theme myself, but I keep forgetting not everyone does that.

Have you adapted to the new beta layout? I feel more comfortable in the classic layout but if it was a forced switchover I wouldnt mind using the new one.

Personally I never liked the 'light' classic theme. I'm not sure why but I think the dark colours just work a lot better. I like the open space of the classic layout ^^

Sometimes when I make stuff for FA, I make it to work with the dark layout (like my current avatar) but I wonder if that effect is lost on some of my followers who are using a different layout.

Anyway I am just curious which you prefer to use and why ^^

Oh man, my wrist issue isnt getting any better. I went back to the doctors today and i've been referred to hospital to do some physio. Needless to say its still making me really upset and I pretty much had a breakdown yesterday when trying to do some animation.

I actually got a job offer come through and people keep asking me about commissions and trades and i'm just here like -glares at wrist furiously- huurrrgghghghghg

Meanwhile comic is gathering dust in a corner.

I'm playing a lot of pokemon and otherwise wallowing in self pity. I'm watching a lot of feel good anime to distract myself.

Well this is something that always interests me. I'm very curious

I dont really post up my gender because I find it fun to see what people assume based on my art style. It seems that generally people think I'm male?

This surprises me because I always thought I had a really girly style xD Well its not exactly shoujo but you know, it can be plenty sparkly and colourful.

I would say its because my sonas are male? But even when i had a girl sona, people assumed I was a boy xD So it must be based on art style I dunno

Anyway I dont mind what people think but i'm curious to hear what you'd assume. If you search my other accounts its not hard to find cosplay photos or evidence of my actual gender, but purely based on my account here, what gender do you think I am?

In an ideal world i'd prefer to be completely genderless tbh. Probably why I dont go to great lengths to make it known or correct people when they get it wrong. I'm fine with whatever people decide

I got like really bad tendonitis in my wrist eehhhhhhh

it's a longterm problem i've had for years but right now its super bad. I cant draw anything without pain. My body is so buggered can I trade it in for a new one already.

Got like a bazillion drugs to take and gel for it but seems like just not drawing is all I can do and man thats hard. The struggle is real.

Not that I really update this account very often but you know. I feel like having a public tantrum

Euugh I've been very ill lately. Its made me pretty unproductive this week and being unproductive makes me sad Q.Q Also I get tendonitis in my drawing hand which doesnt help and puts a limit on my drawing time. Such is life.

I know I've promised a couple of people some commissions but I'm up to my neck in work, jobhunting and con prep for may expo, as well as cosplay and my own personal projects like the comic. Sorry for being so slow and thanks for being patient.

My life right now is anime, coffee, illness and doodling. I appreciate all the continued support despite me not updating my gallery often enough. (I am part furry part anime nut and I tend to keep the anime stuff on my dA only).

I'M SORRYY, i've been drawing icky weird stuff on the 18+ account and I keep neglecting to update this one with clean decent artwork. When i'm drawing Rik stuff it's normally new comic pages and when I aint doing new comic pages i'm doing stupid doodles for tumblr or stuff over on dA.

Apparently there is talk of seperating hiccup and toothless forever come the end of the third film. I can see why this would be a good go-to ending but I still think it would be a sad decision.

Comment in this journal with a reference to the character. NOT FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. I personally dislike this system so the idea is you show me your ref and I pick the 3 that I am most willing to draw (designs that fit my style, personal interest, etc etc).

I will note you if your commission request gets accepted. Then you send monies and I get to work. No base sketch. I am going to be doing these right away on stream.

I'm not really any closer to saving for a replacement tablet. Life troubles = spending money -.- unexpected bills uuurgh

I was thinking of maybe starting a patreon for people to donate to the comic once it starts up properly. Does that sound like something people would care about? It would definitely inspire me to work on the comic regularly. Right now I am torn between comic or commissions. I want comic but I also want a new tablet -.- even if people donated $1 per page update it'd really help out

Anyway

I started a new Animation Internship as a junior animator for a local studio. Been doing free work for them but they offered me a paid position for 3 months D: Really enjoying it so far. I do illustration so much I forget that I trained to be an animator primarily. Quit the till job to do this instead and it was a good decision~

The reprint of prologue books arrived yesterday and I've packed them up today. Will be sending them all out at the weekend~ thanks for the support and patience while i get everything together. I dont think I'm making anything in terms of a profit (I sort of spent the money i would have made on more books in the reprint so i dont have to reprint for future events) but I'm still really happy about the amount of pre-order sales I made x33

The book itself is a 48-page mini art book with some concepts and a 4-page comic preview. I WON'T be reprinting these for a long time and may scrap them entirely when I make the first proper volume, so if you want to have this sort of 'beta' book then grab it now.

IMPORTANT --

I'm just going to mention here that before I send the books off to print, I am going to make a couple of small adjustments. While currently it is named 'book 1' I am going to change this to save some confusion when the first proper volume is ready for print in a few months. I first intended this to be the first volume but due to tight deadlines and compromises, it is not a complete volume in itself and more of a concept/art book so thats my reasoning for adjusting the title. All content inside will remain the same. For now, I will refer to it as the 'Prologue Book'
