Had to end a relationship with a non-furry.
Posted 3 months agoSo I dated someone for awhile. A non-furry. And it actually went well for a few months. But as time went on and I learned about her and her ideals, it dawned on me that I was extremely incompatible with her mostly because of one thing -- that I was a full-time NSFW furry artist.
She was religious and came from a religious background. And I knew that what I do is extremely taboo to her. No doubt that I would have to give up my art career that I had painstainkingly worked hard on if i were to go forward with this relationship. Leading her on and then revealing it later will only cause more harm than good, due to her commitment to her religion.
I spent a lot of time debating with myself. Wondering how many white lies do I have to tell before she found out eventually. It's been stressing me out a lot, because I knew the answer to this -- I had to break it off. Both for her sake and my sanity.
So I finally did it. The break up was mutual, more than anything. My suspicions were correct -- being a NSFW artist was a huge dealbreaker and her family would never be okay with it either. But at least we parted on good terms...I hope.
It still stung a little, but at the very least I have the peace of mind to continue doing what I do.
Just thought I'd get my thoughts out so I can get some proper sleep tonight.

[Open] for commissions
Posted a year agoWasn't planning on opening, but circumstances have changed recently and felt this needs to be done.
If you're interested in getting art from me, check my carrd site for all the information you need - https://rimentus.carrd.co/
If you're coming here from my NSFW account
, you should also be filling up the same form.
Just some additional notes for this specific round of commissions.
Regarding comics
- While I am open to doing comics sequences, they are often very time consuming and therefore not cheap.
- I may reject comic ideas if it requires too many panels, or if i don't think the idea resonates with me. I kinda need to be into it to do draw it well.
- I dont mind helping to brainstorm or fix up comic ideas to make it more suitable, but i'd have to like the core idea or character design first.
Feel free to ask questions in comments or DMs. If I don't respond to your submission form within a week, then it's likely I've already picked my batch of commissions for this round.

[Open] for commissions
Posted 2 years agoIt has been more than a year since I've opened for proper commissions, so here it is. My forms are now open if you're interested in commissioning me something!
I still have a few more comms I'm working on, so realistically, I will be starting on these new batch of commissions on November (I will keep my Trello updated). So i'd advise to not submit anything Halloween themed, as it's very likely I won't be able to finish any comms by the time the day comes around.
Make sure you read all the relevant info on my Carrd site -- Commission Info & Prices -- before submitting a form.
I'll leave the form open for now. If you don't hear back from me in a week it's likely that I'm unable to work on something for you. Either because of ineligibility or my inability to be confident in working on something for you.
If you have any questions, drop a comment or DM me on FA or my other socials.

EDIT: Changed my mind and decided to just leave my comms open this time around.

Small Update + Posting arts on Bluesky
Posted 2 years agoAs some of you have noticed I started posting comms on this account again, particularly vore content here. A month ago I thought I was gonna retire completely from doing commissions, but changing circumstances means I need to adapt and perhaps be open to start doing them again. So yeah, there'll be plenty of uploads to come on this account. This change won't affect the once every 4 days Patented Pants comic uploads on my alt account
coalt.
Decided I need a twitter alternative and will be posting my art on Bluesky. I will also be posting a bunch of my Coalt stuff on it as well, particularly just vore highlights or amusing moments in the comic. So yeah it'll be a mixed bag of everything, unlike my other socials where there's a separation between my main and alt.

My Bluesky LinkGoing to be dealing at MFMM next month
Posted 2 years agoI managed to snag a spot as a dealer at the upcoming Melbourne Furry Makers Market on August 13th. Will be there selling dragon-themed goodies and some The Mystery of Caketropolis merch. I might even bring rimplush along to hold my business cards if I can figure out the logistics of that.
Actually, I need to figure out the logistics of everything else since I've never done the dealer stuff before. Thankfully I've given myself ample time to prep, and I hope shipping dates for my stock doesn't get delayed.
It's very unlikely I'll take on more commissions at the market, since I've already gotten a queue that i'll start working on after the market is done. Kinda difficult to do when I'm working close to full-time hours atm, and waiting for my annual leave soon before I can get back into doing a lot more art.
Entry into the event is free though requires a ticket.

Commission forms closed.
Posted 2 years agoThanks for submitting your forms. I've already made my selection and it'll be listed in my Trello here - https://trello.com/b/xay9L9Sf/rims-art
There was a fair amount of submissions I sadly could not take on, not because of the characters or ideas that were supplied, but simply because of how limited I am on time, and the people i've taken on in the list is 3 times more than what I had initially planned on accepting.
As for the people in the Trello list, my plan is to at least get one comm done per week or fortnight, and I will only start corresponding with you when I'm a week or two close to starting the comm. It's very likely I will start with requests that are simpler to build up my confidence in my new workflow, and then work my way up to more complex submissions.

[Open] for commissions (EXPERIMENTAL)
Posted 2 years agoOpening for commissions for the first time this year. And likely will be the only time I'll open for commission for the rest of the year.
My plan in the future would hopefully be able to take on tableside commissions at a con. So in preparation for that, I need to practice my traditional art game. This is fairly uncharted territory for me, so the prices for these commissions will be a flat $30, the cheapest I'd ever done for a commission for the past 4 or 5 years (my average illustration prices tend to float around $120). The piece will be finished traditionally, though I may also provide a bonus digital version of the drawing, depending on how horribly I flopped the traditional version of the image.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to take on every single commission request due to my part time job taking a lot of my time, so I will only be picking a handful of comms that I feel I can vibe with and produce the best results. You can view the Do's and Don'ts in my ToS in the link to see how you could increase your chances of getting picked.
For these commissions, I probably won't take on NSFW ideas. Vore is a big maybe, depending on the idea and characters.
If you're interested, please fill in the form below. I won't be taking requests via Notes or DMs. Feel free to comment if you have any further questions.
Commission form will remain open until I feel i have enough people to draw for. You can view my Trello for updates.

Any recommendations for 3d artists for me to commission?
Posted 2 years agoBeen getting into VR a little more lately and been thinking of potentially getting a 3D model of anthro Coalt that I can use for things like VR Chat. Had a look around a few artists so far, though was curious if anyone had good recommendations for good 3D artists I could consider commissioning (that's currently open) for a custom model that would be VR chat ready. Preferably someone well-suited for the style I like which is a little hard to find. You know like all the tough grumpy-looking dragons I tend to draw -- looking for someone who can model a style similar to that. Thanks.
EDIT: Talking to some friends, it'll likely i'll end up getting a base model and probably find someone to edit & retexture the model instead.

Going to MFC this weekend as a volunteer
Posted 2 years agoHey all.
I got accepted to become a volunteer at the Melbourne Furry Convention this weekend, so I'll be there volunteering on Saturday & Sunday. So you can look out for me on those two days with my Siggy/Coalt badge (I'm short, slightly muscular and sometimes wear a beanie). Not volunteering on Friday, but i'll be around there during the second half of the day.
I may also be around during the Sunday Art Jam doing random sketches to pass the time during my break. Feel free to drop by and chat, and I might do a free sketch for you while we're there. Though I'm happy to chat as well even during the hours I'm actively doing volunteer work.

Looking for someone to go Melbourne FurCon with
Posted 3 years agoPosted this on twitter, though I'm just curious if there's anyone local interested in going to the convention in Feburary with me? Mostly just exploring my options, since it's my first time attending a con, and I was highly advised to not go alone.
I'm not very 'furry' in person. Just a regular guy with alot of interest in the creative arts.

Update on life and what I've been up to.
Posted 3 years agoHey everyone.
The first half of 2022 started out a little rough for me. I was dealing with a lot of stress, especially after finishing The Mystery of Caketropolis and trying to figure out the next steps for me as an artist. It's a difficult question for me to answer given how varied my work was. That's the downside of being a jack-of-all trades -- I was never really amazing at one thing that I could capitalize and make a career out of.
I did a lot of job hunting which I started last year around October so I could get a part-time job, to help recoup money I've invested in the TMoC game project. Had no bites at all for several months, and gosh I hate the entire process. Nothing but rejections day in and out. It affected my mood quite severely, feeling hopeless and with no sense of proper direction since I was barely living minimum wage. And yeah some of you who followed my earlier journals a few months back knew I was pretty down mentally and the disconnect I was feeling.
So fast forward to today, I was doing my usual rounds of job hunting as always while working on the Patented Pants comic series. And just last week I did a bunch of interviews and finally got a part-time job offer and will be signing my contract next week. The job is far from glamorous (warehouse/retail) but I am happy. I still have a long way to go before I feel content with my life, but it's a good step forward. Something I can cling on as hope for a better future. It's only a part time gig, so I'm hopeful that I'll still be able to commit to drawing art full-time, with the part time job as a means to provide the additional income to help resolve my financial woes. Maybe one day I can realize some of my future goals of going to a con and setting up my own booth or something.
Aside from acclimatizing myself to a new weekly schedule to accommodate my new job, the only thing that will change in regards to my art is the unlikelihood that I will open for public commissions for the foreseeable future now that I have found a more stable source of income. I will still be working and posting comic pages on my alt account a few times a week, and every now and then I might try to draw something suitable for this account or stream something. Maybe once a while I might work on a commission for friends or as a one-off event.
But my art priority for now will solely be focused on the Patented Pants comic to fulfill my obligations to my backers on Patreon. And also because I genuinely enjoy working on the comic, since I get to experiment with a lot of fun storytelling things that I wouldn't have been able to do on this account with the Rimentus name.
TLDR - I've got a job. No more public commissions until further notice. Most of the art I upload weekly these days is done on my alt account.
coalt is my alt account if you're into vore and more mature themes. 36+ comic pages already uploaded there, with hundreds more to come.
And oh yeah, thank you to everyone who bought my game, left reviews and shared it around. The money I made from it was spent on essentials that allowed me to continue drawing art full-time, so I'm super grateful for the support.

Choose Your Vore Adventure w/ Coalt
Posted 3 years agoHey all. This is gonna be the focus of my efforts in the months to come, and is very different from the type of work I was doing with The Mystery of Caketropolis. It's an idea that I'm experimenting with and I'm slowly trying to piece together a system that'll be worthwhile and engaging for people who pledge in Coalt's Patreon.
This new project will entirely be hosted on
coalt. If vore is your thing (and if you like my storytelling and varied humour), you can check out the main submission here to see what it's all about.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/47042754/
As for my own personal Patreon for Rimentus. That is still active, though there won't be any rewards on it. Only as a means for those who wish to support my work in general.
Cheers.

[Closed] for commissions
Posted 3 years agoOnly taking on a few commissions. Selection will not be based on first come first serve. Like last round, I've added some bonus criterias that you may want to have a read through to increase your chances of getting picked. I'll leave this form open only for 48 hours, and then close again. I'll be making a start on these commissions during mid-late April.
Things I'm not interested in drawing
>Comics (though I'm okay with a short vore sequence that can fit on a single page with a few panels)
>Detailed background work / focus on the background (I prefer character focused ideas this round.)
>Overly complex character design (especially characters that have lots of patterns, lots of extra limbs. i kinda prefer dragons that just look like dragons.)
>Cutesy ideas (I don't like cutesy ideas that sounds forced and unnatural.)
>Your character turned into a dragon
Also, a few things that I might lean towards choosing over other ideas
>Big dragons (quadruped or anthro)
>Ideas with Coalt (which I'd throw in an additional 10% discount of the total price for his inclusion)
>Interesting ideas! Something that expresses the personality of the character. I like working with fresh ideas and I often disregard things I'm iffy about in favor of an idea that excites me. An idea where your character is just 'lying down with a big belly' is kinda uninspiring.
EDIT: Change from 24 to 48 hour window.

Opening for commissions tomorrow
Posted 3 years agoHi everyone.
As the title says, I will be opening up for commissions officially tomorrow, probably around this time at 9 am (GMT+11) and will only be open for 24 before closing again.
Now that the update for TMoC: Live in Stalagshire is nearly finished, I can take on a few commissions, maybe just 2 or 3. Maybe more if the ideas I get really strikes my fancy.
I know there's a fair few of you who showed interest in commissioning me during the time I was closed, however my selection process will not change so that it stays fair for everyone.
Although the Do's and Don'ts in my ToS states what I'm willing to draw, I do want to emphasize a couple of points that would help your chances of getting picked, as my mood for drawing certain things changes every so often.

I do want to thank everyone who's taken the time to give my game a chance. Even if you've just purchased it but never played, or played it for a little bit, or played it through once, or played it through twice, or played it over and over to get all the achievements, or played it and hated it, or played it and left a Steam review, or streamed it, etc etc...
I'm thankful for it all. Especially for a game like this that's absent of any fetish or dating elements, which puts it at a severe disadvantage compared to most games that comes out from the furry community.
I've definitely learned a lot from this experience. And now that I've had a taste of the game development scene, I do want to work on another game. Could be a sequel to TMoC, or a completely different game with different characters and themes. A bigger game than the last. Hopefully better in every way.
I have ideas and story threads, though if I were to work on a new game, I'd have to find people who would want to work with as a team. There are things that I know I can do well, like the music, art, storytelling, though I'm held back by a lot of the core programming which I have little to no experience (and why I used RPG Maker for TMoC). I think once I'm able to find people, then I can go through the process of going all-in on another game project, and this time go through a crowdfunding campaign rather than put all the burden of funding on myself.
In either case through, I'll still be producing art and comics when I can. Either related to TMoC or completely non-canon. Thanks again.

[Closed] for commissions
Posted 4 years agoAs always, selection will not be based on 'first come first serve'. I'll consider all requests that come in during the next few days and pick a handful of commissions to take on for November/December. So if you don't get picked, it may simply be because I don't want to overwork myself with too many commissions and had to be super picky. This is open for both Rimentus/Coalt accounts.
If I decide to upload your commission, it will either be uploaded on this account, or my alt account, depending on the content of the commission.
If you're interested, fill in the form here - https://forms.gle/1XqemsEUV9UH9o5b6
Art queue is viewable and updated through my trello here - https://trello.com/b/xay9L9Sf
If you're unsure about anything or have any questions, leave a comment below. Thanks!

Playing The Mystery of Caketropolis OST live
Posted 4 years agoMusic is mostly a hobby for me unlike art. I do have a fascination and interest in live music, though I'm not really on any professional level to be able to perform live music flawlessly.
But I do want to try mostly for fun. And mostly because it's something I always wanted to do. And since The Mystery of Caketropolis soundtrack is a collection of music that I have half ownership over (my friend Maz Nimra contributed the other half), I want to be able to share some live renditions of them with people. Think less of a huge stage performance, and more like going over to a friend's place and sharing music.
Doodlestreams are fun, but not something I want to do regularly because its still kinda stupid hah. I'll do them from time to time, but I do want to mix it up with more music stuff, since it's something I'm alot more interested in and want to practice more. My ultimate goal would be to play the entire soundtrack live in its entirety...which is quite a long road ahead. But I'm making the first few steps now.
I wont be advertising when I'll be streaming my music practices on FA and only gonna advertise on my twitter about 30mins- 1hour before I stream. Might do the first stream tomorrow. Here's my twitter if you're interested - https://twitter.com/derpmentus
If you're curious what tracks I'll most likely be playing, it'll be stuff from the list below. Over time I'll expand the list, including covers that I can make backing tracks for.
>Stalagshire
>Breakout
>Now You See Me/Now You Don't
>Machinist
>All Puffed Up
>A Deep Breath
>Asphyxiation
>A Different Memory
>Raja Wyvern
>Popcorn (cover)
And here's a handy playlist of the soundtrack if you're curious to hear - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?li.....SP6AObYBFlLR7u

My Discord Server (Looking for active members)
Posted 4 years agoI opened a public discord server a couple of months ago, initially for the purpose of my game. But now that is all done and released, I can finally find some time to be a bit more social and revamp the server and pay more attention to it.
The purpose of the server is not limited to my game anymore but more general purpose, and will be going through changes over the coming weeks to add more channels and stuff, depending on the crowd. Though a server does need an active group to thrive, so here's the link if you want to be part of the revamp. - https://discord.gg/DaU9mmr27D
Make sure to read the rules to bypass the anti-spam system in place. No kids please.

Uploading doodlestream highlights on youtube
Posted 4 years agoIn addition to the regular doodlestreams I've been doing lately, I'll also be posting highlights of the stream onto my youtube channel for those who wanted to see the stream but couldn't make it. Here the link to the video for last week's stream. Video was edited by a good friend
- https://youtu.be/If8Fc2f6pjU
You can subscribe to my youtube channel if you want more updates on future doodlestream highlights in that link above, or my twitch channel if you want to attend the actual streams.
https://www.twitch.tv/rimentus
Will be doing another doodlestream in the coming week. Maybe closer to the weekend this time.

Posted 4 years agoTrying something new here. I'm taking on comms to start filling the gallery on my other account

Same rules and ToS applies as always and I've updated it here. Make sure you read this to better your chances of getting picked since I can be picky - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33948233

My Alt / NSFW account
Posted 4 years agoThis would've been a great reverse April Fools prank, but I didn't want to have to wait that long to make the joke.
As some of you have already discovered, I do have an alt account that I've started running a fews weeks ago. And it is indeed
coalt
Its an alt account geared towards vore and NSFW themes and a way for me to practice more anthro characters and mature ideas. None of my characters on this account will be making an apperence there, and I will be treating that account as if it is a separate entity.
Any future vore art and vore themed commissions might be uploaded under the Coalt name, so I can keep this Rimentus account 100% SFW.
I don't really know what the future of that alt account is gonna be. I may do more YCHs or commissions there, depending on how well received things are there.
Whatever it is, things on this account will still operate as normal. Will still make comics and comms and anything related to TMoC and its characters.
So if you want to follow up on more of my art, give
a watch.

Posted 4 years agoNow that my game is finally released, I can take a step back from all the game related stuff and focus on making up for all the resources and savings I've spent for the game dev stuff during the past year.
So yeah, I'll be taking up on commissions and working on them in July. As always, selection won't be based on 'first come first serve'. I'll consider all requests that come in during the next few days and pick a handful of commissions to take on for July's batch. So if you don't get picked, it may simply be because I don't want to overwork myself with too many commissions and had to be super picky.

Art Trade [Closed]
Posted 4 years agoIt's been awhile, and I've secured some free time to potentially do an art trade or two. Preferably someone of equal skill. Bonus points if they have a style appropriate for Siggy.
Poke me in notes or leave a comment if interested. Do add links to your works as well.

Charr-themed Commissions? [Closed]
Posted 4 years agoJust throwing this out there as a curiosity thing. But I've been in the mood to practice some anthro art, namely art involving the Charr species since I'm moderately comfortable drawing them. So, if there happen to be folks who wants to commission to have their Charr character(s) drawn, I'm currently open for those. Hell, I wouldn't mind if it was vore-themed either (so long as belly sizes are not unrealistically large). To sweeten the deal, I'll be willing to do it at a 25% discount. But of course, I'll only take on commissions if the character/concept/idea works for me.
I'll have this opportunity open for only three days. Will close for commissions again after that. (And may end up drawing some charr personal art instead if this ends up not working out.)
Send me a note or reply to this journal if interested. Will take on a few slots.
Examples of previous work (from recent to old):

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33680920/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31834395/
EDIT: If interested, send me a link to your charracter(s) and a short list of ideas you want to bring forth for consideration. I'll assess all submissions over the next 3 days and select 2-3 people to be included in my commissions queue.
EDIT2: It is much more preferable to have proper refs at hand for me to work with. Unfortunately in-game screenshots only makes the job a little it harder for me.
EDIT3: Turns out there's more people interested in these than I thought. I really wasn't expecting that and had to sadly turn down a number of folks. Thanks for showing your interest.
