Posted 5 years agoHello, I'm sorry things have slowed down, I have been working at a temp job and only have limited time in the afternoons to work on commissions, but I will still continue working on them and getting what I can done, trying to at least get some progress each day.
Also, I'm not panicky about the virus, and keeping a cool head. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anxious about it though, I wanted 2020 to be a year I improved several aspects of my life, I even was about to start a new job that would've gotten be out of the ouse, but they're in a hiring freeze right now. I was loosing weight and planning on meeting people, and now meeting people has been put on hold.
And, as I just realized, even being still relatively young and healthy I can still catch this thing and, I'm simply not guaranteed to wake up the next day am I, none of us are really. Don't worry, I'll stay strong and practice a lot of the good hygiene that I practice anyways before this virus was a thing. Especially the washing my hands part, I cook so I do that anyways! I want to get through this, I want to continue what I started and maybe one day live forever if I could, because I'm the kind of person that would probably occupy all that extra time with something to do. However, if the worst happened I can probably inform someone to let the site know but I am not sure I'll have the time to write what I am about to next... but:
If you happen to be reading this and I'm no longer here, I wanted to thank everybody, all of you for all your love, business and just simply being there for me. I have enjoyed reading your stories, listening to your music, and taking in all the creative art you have made. You were my friends when I didn't have friends. Some of you were my lover when I didn't have a lover. Some of you were my support when I didn't have support. Thanks to the FurAffinity staff, I know I've ragged on them a few times, I know I've said dumb things to Dragoneer before because I was young and dumb, but I feel like I do have to thank them for setting all this up, all the effort they do keeping the site up, and allowing us artists a place to make some money off of what we do. To all furries don't ever let someone tell you, that you are wrong for being what you are because you are all beautiful, beautiful people and I am grateful to have known you and have spent my time with you. My only regret is not having met most of you in person.
Blessed be,
- Rimpala

Need Feedback: Game Ideas
Posted 12 years agoI have to propose a casual game idea for a class, and I have two so I was wondering which one sounded better. One thing that is going to be a major factor is time, a group of people are going to have to create a game in just a few short months. I don't if either would be really feasible in that regard to be honest.
Idea 1: "myKeep"
Premise: The screen of your cellphone is presented as a castle. You can customize your castle with decorations, protections and units and either visit or invade other "castles".
Idea 2: "Exilir"
Premise: You are an alchemist that travels between three different stages collecting ingredients and solving problems with potions brewed from those ingredients.
"Merc": 25% 0% 0% 0% Sketches completed
"Deer": 10% Sketch complete awaiting further detail on character
"Sacrifice": 65% Flat color about a third way done.
"Spike": 25% Sketch completer
"Cantina": 75% 0% 0% Flat color complete
"Zebra": 75% Flat Color complete

Florida Zebras?
Posted 12 years agoWhat you expect to find between Orlando and Daytona, FL: Some pastures with cattle, horses, and maybe the odd goat or donkey.
What you don't expect to find: "Hey that donkey has stripes, wait... O_o"
So yeah one of the local horse farms has zebras o.O

Rotten Tomatoes and I Like Bad Movies
Posted 12 years agoI used to trust RottenTomatoes.com as a movie review site but the past couple of months I've seen them become a tad... elitist? I don't know, maybe I'm too much of a humble peasant to see it or something... To be honest I'm one of those people that would be in the mood for all the Citizen Kanes out there, then on other days be in the mood for Brain Dead. I can proudly say that my Itunes library has both punk and prog rock living together, and even... The Black Eyed Peas! I can proudly say that while I have immense respect for the classical masters, I can obviously enjoy furry art too. And you know what? I was born before there was hipsters. I've seen the elitist thing affect subcultures that I can now confirm are able to laugh at themselves these days. So I really don't give a damn if it's cool or not lol
And don't get me wrong I don't want to be that guy that disrespects someone for not liking the things I like and vice versa, but it's hard not to in some of the reviews where I've started seeing complaints about how mindless the sheeple out there are... actually spending their money to see movies because they... as horrible as it sounds... enjoy movies! In the age of the internet it seems like it's very easy to fall into the trap of being snarky for snark's sake. I love AVGN and The Nostalgia Critic because first of all they're actors behind personas and they both clearly love games and movies respectively and are able to have fun with the real stinkers out there. They both seem to share a respect for filming that I do too. When you've done stupid little student films on a zero budget you appreciate the craft that goes into it. There's the film maker the knows how to earn Oscars, the one that knows how to make money, and there's probably a great number in both categories that like to make movies.
So where am I going with this... um...
but when a movie earns a crowded theater and the audience is enjoying the movie, it's not a bad movie.
And if it is so what, Hey, I enjoy bad movies.
So much for empty journal, I'm obviously healthier now and will resume art soon.

Fear and Saddness
Posted 13 years agoI fear someone I've known pretty much since discovering furries and all, is probably dead. I have no idea what to do in these kind of situations, ever since the recession it seems like everyone I know is going through hard times, including myself. There is nothing I can do I'm completely helpless here, maybe I just need to keep distant from everyone because eventually they're all going to die. Everyone I know is going to kill themselves eventually and there is absolutely nothing i can do about it. I hate it.

Crazy, crazy idea: Tour de Florida
Posted 13 years ago Some weird idea I had after visiting some friends in Miami. Over the past couple years I've been cycling a lot to try and get back in shape, and basically wondered if anyone ever thought of or done a long-distance trek down A1A - which for anyone living outside of Florida would basically involve biking down the entire Florida coast from Amelia Island near the Georgia border all the way down to Key West. The length would probably be one-third that of the Appalachian Trail, but like it there are plenty of stops at along the way.
The route would be quite scenic and would have plenty of photo opportunities - most of the stretch is along the coast, sometimes right on the beach and passes through protected shores as well, also it passes through Florida's largest and oldest cities.
I don't know if I'd ever do it but it's a though, maybe one day with I'm feeling particularly manic lol. One challenge would be to see if this is even possible. The stretch along the Cape Canaveral area actually goes through he launch pads and near an air force base - so I'll have to see if that has civilian access. Also, there are stretches without sidewalks - including some rather narrow bridges, going across the Florida Keys, over open ocean. (!)

Old School Gamer Rant (Warning I Sound OLD Here)
Posted 13 years agoMe and a friend were talking last night about how the videogame industry has gotten too expensive for it's worth. One time giants in the industry are tanking now because the multi-million dollar productions are not selling as much as the once were, and meanwhile it seems like the mobile games and some of the indie games out there are slowly taking their place.
One of the things that's annoyed me about the current Gen consoles is that they strive to be an all-in-one multimedia system on top of just being a game console. Once upon a time, a game console did one thing: play videogrames. So what was so wrong with that? Sure, you could play blue ray disks, download music, browse the internet, and do this and that on our current generation of consoles... but I can't be the only one that's bought an Xbox 360 because I wanted to play games on it right? And now there's word that the next generation of consoles requires you to be online to play the games. That's going to suck because it takes away one of the best things about an NES or Sega Genesis - if you happen to be somewhere where there's no internet, or if your internet is down (because it DOES HAPPEN SOMETIMES) - you and friends you're with can always just plug one of these into a tv and play videogames for entertainment. And you can play with your real friends, the ones on the couch sitting next to you. Consoles today think that we rather play (and thus force us to play) with that whiny 12-year-old brat spouting curses and racial slurs over Xbox live. Am I missing something here?
TL;DR: Gaming has gotten way to complicated.

Why I like gay allies
Posted 13 years agoHeh this is a rant posted on LiveJournal to address some of the over-PC, first world problem, internet crusader bullshit I see on there:
Sorry there's something I don't get around [LiveJournal]. I don't see the appeal in being endlessly cynical about everyone. This is all because of that one article I've seen on that one LiveJounal group that would go unnamed about Oreo Cookies putting out an ad supporting gay rights and the Facebook-originated outrage and boycotts that followed.
It was quickly brought up that it's so freaking terrible that corporations and business out there are showing support for LBGTQ rights because they're probably just doing it to make money.
And to that I say, of course, businesses are always in it to make money! I do not expect anyone from the smallest mom-n-pop store to the largest international, intergalactic corporation out there to do anything that isn't for their own benefit. So rather then fuming at this idea that corporations want to make money, I am happy that at the very least the LBGTQ community is being supported instead of being shunned like they once were. It does not bother me that supporting gay rights is popular now, because if you're only supporting gay rights because of its obscurity then it is clear that you are doing it to make yourself look hip and therefore doing it for the wrong reasons.
And to that end, it doesn't bother me what reasons any gay ally has to be a gay ally. If they do it because it makes them feel good, I don't care, it does not bother me.
Here's a list of what bothers me:
People that tell me and people like me that God finds me abhorrent or an abomination, it's just some fancier way of saying "God Hates Fags". If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all, that goes for your god too.
People that pass their hatred as family values, people that act like they're being a saint whenever they insist on treating us like second class citizens.
People that put "protecting marriage" above protecting our own pursuit of happiness.
Movies that make being gay into some kind of joke.
People that express how disgusting it is when two gays kiss, then turn around and objectify two lesbians kissing, here's a hint: we don't do it for you!
That it is still very possible and legal to be discriminated again in the workforce if you were outted.
That it is still illegal to be gay and often punished by death in other countries that have a much, much more dire situation then we do on human rights.
But straight people that want to support gays? That does not bother me, I like to see it and would like to see more of it. And I support straight people, I think they have as much a right to their own pursuit of happiness as we do. In the end it's just a sexuality anyways. It's something that we enjoy, to me the label doesn't matter so much. If you enjoy what you enjoy so what? And I don't make that sound petty, enjoying life is important and is a much better thing to do with it then the alternative.

On Comic Commissions Again
Posted 13 years agoActually I just thought over it, and along with animations comics will start out with a story board before any preliminary sketches take place. Maybe that'll make it easier for both me and the client.
On Comic Commissions
Posted 13 years agoJust letting everyone know that until I come up with an efficient way making them, I'm probably not going to be taking commissions for anymore comics. They're proving a little too difficult and time consuming.
2 Commissions Open
Posted 13 years agoGood news everyone, I've learned to spell commission :p
Also, while I'll be finishing up the last current commission next week I have two slots open.
And I'm going to try something a little different this time.
One slot will be just a regular commission, anything you want within the guidelines.
But the second slot will strictly be clean art, I just would like to try doing one clean drawing as one of the commissions.

How Commissions Will Work:
First thing I will need is your character's description, the more detailed and clear the character description (That is, I probably won't have the time and patience to read through a story, bullet points work best) the more accurate my depiction will look. Reference and character sheets are welcome of course. Keep in mind however, that if you forget a detail about your character after my first draft, it would be too late by then.
I will start out with a preliminary sketch first and sent it to you, if there is anything I need to add I can add it to the sketch and send it again until you're satisfied with it. After that I'll need half the commission price then I can get to work on finishing the piece. Then I'll present a lower res example, the rest of the commission money can be paid, and the final high res image or hard copy can be mailed to you. The piece is free for you to use, including commercial use, though please let me know if you are going to do so, as I may continue to use the commission as a portfolio piece.
Only one commission per client please, after the commission has been fulfilled I need to move on to the next client. I will not accept additional payment to do another piece without accepting the original payment.
Gift Art and Trades
I reserve the right to draw free artwork for friends, or refuse requests. I normally do this as a surprise on my own vs being requested to do so. Number one thing to keep in mind is that the more you ask for free artwork, the more likely I'll keep refusing. However if you ask nice enough and seem like a nice enough person I might offer to do a trade, but not nearly as often as commissions.

Sci Fi and Acceptable Breaks from Reality Survey/Meme
Posted 13 years agoBeen recently thinking up a new story for my planned sci fi furry comic Elysium Gate
In my reboot there will probably be a space battle right at the start, and this has brought up the question of reality in sci-fi, specially in space physics.
I've decided to sum my questions up in a meme/survey thing if anyone wants to answer any of them:
What would be acceptable breaks from reality in, say, a space battle?:
Explosions: Firey ones like here on earth or more realistic non-firey ones? Like debris flying apart in an even radius (maybe?) and following the momentum of whatever's being hit?
Sound: Basically sound, or no sound? (Outside in the vacuum, the inside of a ship of course can be noisy)
Weaponry: Which would you like to see most?:
Laser: Focused beam of light, most likely in a steady beam like the Star Trek phasers. And if so would it be acceptable for the lasers to be visible? (Although I'm thinking as an explanation the beam could be combined with a shot of particles that can play the role of tracers)
Plasma or particle beam: firing extremely hot or high energy particles, could be focused but might suggest to spread over distance traveled? Could have an effect similar to buckshot maybe? (I can only guess at most of this!)
Missiles and bullets: Conventional style of weapons and ammunition would be easy to make and could be very deadly in space due to lack of friction. The projectiles could either explode on impact or simply punch holes using blunt force, a ship protected against space junk and micrometeroids might be reasonably protected against bullets though.
Coil guns or rail guns: Again using missiles but propelling them at presumably higher velocities, if that's even possible or relevant. Could be used as a way to launch unconventional ammunition, such as space debris, or if space pirates were to be alluded to historical ones, it could be a throw back to the cannonball.
Shielding:
Should ships rely only on armor? (Not only from attacks but from the occasional particle floating in space traveling at high speeds, or to protect the ship from heat when entering an atmosphere), or should there be some kind of "deflector shields" or force field covering the craft?
Gravity
Should a ship have constant artificial gravity?

On SOPA and PIPA again
Posted 14 years agoAnyone else in the know of this issue feel like Congress is just going to pass these laws despite what the people think about it? What do they have to loose, they already know the public opinion of them is dismal, I really get the sense that my own government doesn't care any more. They might as well pass a law eliminating the right to vote, there is nothing anyone can do about it right? -_-
Hope You All Had A Good Christmas
