Broken Mirror: Games for Sale
Posted 11 years agoAGH, sadly I couldn't recover almost any of my games this weekend. Went to my parent's house and they just had my N64 and Xbox games out. Mom said she packed all my PS2 games into "a white box" but doesn't know where she placed it. She says she'll look for it once she's home on Tuesday (she was trying to give me directions/clues over the phone and that didn't work out too well...)
So just a few new games added to the list.
Also, TCGs added if anyone is interested.
If you have questions about anything, please ask!

So... Fall is turning to be a really shitty season for me. I know I used to say September was my bad luck month, but 2014 decided it really wants to kick me in the ass.
Passenger side-mirror broke. My own fault between being really angry and mixing up my pedals and a totally fucked up sense of distance.
Luckily, I have friends that don't charge dealership prices, so I'm looking at paying about $113 vice $400. Thank heavens for living around resourceful people.
I still haven't recovered from the $250 that was stolen from me....
So, on top of being open for commissions, I'm creating a list of games and stuff I'm selling. I also will be offering COPIC pictures for those who prefer traditional art.

Oh NaNoWriMo!
Posted 11 years agoUh...I completely forgot about it. The last comment I made about NaNoWriMo was to my friend :devlegolasofthewood: about how I was late because of Oni-con happening. And that was like November 2nd. I completely forgot about it after that....
And now I'm a week late again. And I have like 100 other things I need and want to do. So... I guess I'm not participating this year. Guh!
Well, those who like following Within Shadows doodles or like my elves from A Deck of Fools, you can follow me on Instagram of Facebook where I upload many sketches. I've been doing more adoptable brainstorming, but I'll jump back on those two stories soon and out of love for you guys.

One Year. One Day.
Posted 11 years agoBeen at my job for one year and one day today! :D
I was going to say something on the year mark, but I came home to a sick Kitties *sister's cat* yesterday that ate up my time and energy. She's been fine today~ I think it was from eating too much wet food. =3=;
;*
For those of you who don't know, I was hired straight out of the Navy to be an IT for for a small/medium business. I ONLY handle clients within the company. That's like 500-ish worldwide, and only 180 or so in the same building as me. So stop thinking I sit behind a help desk for any random grandpa to call into!
Now it might be easier to understand when I say- damn, I love my job! I stay busy enough, I have downtime enough, I've learned a zillion different things and receive guidance to do even better. It's fun. I love computer work. And the people themselves are so pleasant and welcoming. Yeah, I get the occasional.... "Please make this person stop talking.." feeling. But there's very few people I don't feel like dealing with, and absolutely no one
I've actually said to myself "Nope, fuck them."
My department is great. I am bottom of the totem pole, but I always feel appreciated. The IT department is a very small department, and we're also known as "the people in the dark room" since we always have our lights off. "Why?" as we're always asked? Cause we like it that way.
Department Head is a guy who can talk anyone's face off. He can basically call anyone a moron to their face, and have the proof to back up his claim. I love watching him handle people who get uppity with the IT department. It'd gold.
Co-department head reminds me of my dad quite honestly. I feel like I have to make a good impression on him the most. The big difference is that he is more up to date than my dad on everything, and not as frugal *cough$500vacuum*
Next is the guy I call boss. To be honest, I'm not sure what kind of title he should have. He administrates everything, he helps out with everything, he has to put up with me when I have questions, he takes my job if I'm not around, and for someone I call boss, he's the most fun person to talk to in the whole company... when he's not "in the zone" with some kind of script or whatever.
And everyone else is a programmer working on the website, software, or testing it all. All super nice people who are fun to talk to when we get a chance to... IT room is usually very silent though we're all probably blasting music in our headsets...
;*
Well, that's my intro. Let's get into funny stories? Who likes IT humor? Well, it's not entirely that anyway.
I'll share a few before bed, then there will just have to be more journals later if you guys want to hear more.
My very first day I was a nervous wreck. So bad, I didn't even realize my boss' name was John and not Josh. That said, I didn't even know that Josh from HR was not an IT. Ugh, it was such a mess.
When showing me around to introduce me to people on the sales floor...a guys' computer just happened to not turn on. John asked me what did I think it was.
I said the power cord, which resulted in a chuckle. Basically: It's almost never the power cord.
So we take it into the workbench where he tells me it's likely the power supply and he'd like me to switch it with another computer's power supply. I honestly was so nervous thinking this was a setup "field test", I didn't realize that's what he said. I only found out after I had completely taken out the motherboard...
I'm not 100% sure what I was thinking at that time...
We finally did switch the power supply out and the machine still wouldn't turn on. To amuse them, I switched out the power cord.
It was the power cord....
1 month anniversary of working there, I get a phone call from the receptionist.
R: "Hi Marina!" *so full of glee*
Me: "Hi Holly!" *matches her happiness*
R: "So um... we may need your help."
Me: "What can I help with?"
R: "Um... Clyde's computer is on fire."
Me: *awkward pause* "...wha?"
R: "There's smoke everywhere cause Clyde's computer is on fire."
Me: "................ I'm... I'm on my way!" *hangs up and runs out door*
About halfway down the hall I slow my sprint into a walk.
"Wait... something catches fire and their first response was to call IT?"
Yes, his computer caught fire. White smoke everywhere. Smell of burning plastic... but nothing burned down. Fire was too weak to do anything but utterly destroy his HDD.
My boss helping me with life lessons outside of just work:

I screenshot a lot of my favorite conversations that make me laugh. So more if people are interested in reading~
Goodnight.
Next journals will like revolve around my new kitten and Onicon and Saru behind down here in TX. I just wanted to celebrate my 1 year at IIR.

$250 gone for good
Posted 11 years agoJust had a busy weekend.
Garage sale on Saturday followed by garage sale shopping. My one piece of good news to share is that I got a drawing table with 3 drawers for $5.
Sunday I was volunteered to help with a face painting booth at a bazaar. Didn't even know this was going on... But I did what was asked and had some fun. Until about 3pm when a headache kicked in. Everything just spiraled down from there and I needed to go home badly. But everyone just took their sweet damn time.
Finally made it home and fell asleep immediately. Woke up about 10 with a headache still in place. Slept until 2am and was just out of it until it was time to get ready for work.
Nothing good happening at work. Nothing bad either... Just feeling way under the weather and a deep desire to go home and rest more.
Got a call from the investigator on my stolen wallet case. I think we all can join in unison that we all knew nothing would turn up. They had the security people at the store or the Plaza the store belongs to view the cameras and uncovered nothing. "they didn't even see you lose your wallet"
Oh OK. It was just magically gone then magically appeared back at the store five hours later. Fact, my wallet must have taken a $250 trip and that's why it didn't have any money. Of course!
And there's likely nothing I can do to even make the money back in a decent amount of time. So here's a pointless journal and I'll just go back to my shadowy corner of the Internet and dwell in my own thoughts until I make myself feel better.

Wallet Stolen... Why did I leave the house?
Posted 11 years agoAnd 5 hours later it was recovered with only the cash and my government credit card missing.
All cards had been turned off within the first hour. The Government card is only available to use when I'm on Annual Training, so luckily that has been totally useless since August 1st. I'm just really glad they didn't take my company VISA... I didn't know how to get that one turned off... But I would have dug for a way if I hadn't received a call about it being recovered as soon as I did.
Now the cash.... ugh.... my mom had JUST paid me back for paying off a few things for her. She gave me cash so of course it went into my wallet. I felt it was a big slap in the face to both of us that some scum likely fished the wallet out of our basket, took the cash (and 1 card oddly) before turning in my wallet to the fitting room staff like some good Samaritan.
Call this the worse kind of inspiration, but it had my brain thinking scenes to try making the money back through Flat Rate YCHs. I want to make back $250 so I can show mom and be like "Look, I'm fine. I will be feeding myself for the next few weeks."
Overall, my biggest relief is that my IDs are safe and sound and I don't keep my SSN on me. All my online banking has terribly hard passwords, phone banking has 3 levels of protection included a made up code word, and in person requires ID as well as my code word. I really don't know what other steps I need to take, if any. Never wanted to severely hurt a faceless stranger so hard in my life.
Whoever you are, I hope you had a good reason to take that $250. Children, medical...whatever... if not... I only wish terrible things to happen to you; So much of it, stress is what will be the death of you.

Posted 11 years agoI just felt like spreading some love an using a base I had created. <3

http://sta.sh/012gbnqc7k8s
Finished product will be in this style:

-Any Expression
Now the rules o3o

2) *Optional* Simply make a *new* journal or poll advertising this raffle. Link it to me in your comment. If you do this, you'll get a +2 next to your name! More times your name is entered= more chances to win. k? (People on DA will automatically get a +2 since it's required over there)
3) Comment the journal with a link to your advertisement. You don't need to link me anything else. I'll ask for the character later.
And that's it~ I'll pull a lucky number out of a random online generator once my to-do list is finished
I expect to be done mid October. So this raffle will end Oct 15th.

The Big Life Update Journal
Posted 11 years agoKay, who has been wondering where I've been?
*crickets*
So it all started with- I bought a house!
A lot of moving went on~ Lots of back and forth, going to work... yes, I moved myself out. Didn't hire movers. 2 friends came and helped one day and my sister had a friend come over to help 2 other days. Everyone is cool and we all got ice cream. :3
Yanyan passed away September 2nd. That was the first day we were officially moved in. I was devastated for 2 weeks, with very little contact from others. Only my boyfriend continued to talk to me everyday and made me feel not alone. Even my family didn't even talk to me about it, and just continued with life like nothing happened. Well, she's resting in my backyard now. I've yet to buy flowers due to the rainy nasty days we've been having. But lately it's been feeling just right for some autumn floral to be added to the soil.
Work work work... I work mon-fri still. Love it still. I have many stories and screenshots of funny conversations to share that all happened at my workplace. That'll be something for the future.
House is getting settled in. Just a few more boxes to go through. Reall, the rough part is just not having any shelves or anything to put anything on. I have 2 bookshelves, but that's about it... Guess some stuff will just be in boxes until we have places to put them in. Like drawers... >.>;
Last, and hardly work mentioning... I got a TENS unit and I think it's the best thing in my life! *¬* ... Thanks to keldrin who suggested it to me last xmas. I've been so stressed and begging for a massage everywhere I go... this little MP3 looking deal is awesome. And I can keep it going for like 3 hours. Heavenly bliss~
Things to come:
-YCH that was won last will be done first.
-Art trade to get done.
-2 prizes to do.
-Opening up an adopts account with shintai-ab if anyone thinks they'll be interested in the future. Even if you're not buying, support helps. <3
-Trying NaNoWriMo again this year!
-And really need to do more art... make back some of the money I had to spend to get what I have. |D So more YCHs and commissions~
RIP Yanyan
Posted 11 years agoSorry, I didn't post this earlier here. I just kinda posted it on DA and FB and then didn't come online very often all week.
So I know I've been being as optimistic and brave as I could this last month, but I knew what was happening and what was to come. She let me know plenty of times, and that's why I've been up in her business and posting as much as I could about her on FB.
Tuesday morning, Yanyan passed away. Approximately 14 Years and 5 months old. She was just a few feet from where I was sleeping, laying on the carpet. For 30 minutes I held her, though she was already going still and breathing slower and slower. Besides a few twitches, she passed away softly and silently, showing no pain. I then brought her body to the animal hospital who confirmed her death, and wrapped her properly for me to bury.
She was the dearest friend anyone could ask for. I received her from my best human friend Saru whose dad found her abandoned in a field, and luckily they had a new mother cat who took her into her litter. Yan and I bonded very quickly once I took her home. She was my buddy who brought me comfort and a peaceful state of mind. It broke my heart when I had to leave her behind when I went to Japan, but mended when I would come back once a year to her still waiting for me. We were never a mother-baby relationship. We were best friends who were emotionally bonded and had those quirks and habits that no one but us saw or would understand.
I'm honestly very lost right now. It feels like a piece of my mind and heart have just been removed or simply vanished. I'm only finding some composure in knowing I was there for her until the very end, and she didn't suffer and she's not going to have to put up with anymore medications or stressful body functions that just come with old age. It's strange to be moving into a new house, but it's not going to feel like a home for a long time now.
She was immensely loved, and forever will be. And thus she will be immensely missed and forever held precious by my whole being.
Poem For Cats
And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.
Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.
But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.
Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Another Vet Visit
Posted 11 years agoAs the vet instructed, I went back for a follow up on Yan. Well, I have to say in the last few weeks she's been more active in a sense. But she started doing some things that have been frustrating me... namely her relieving herself in places she shouldn't. =_=;
Well, good news is that her heart rate is going down. They don't really hear the murmur anymore, and think it will go away if we can decrease it a bit more. So her medication for her Thyroid has been increased.
On top of that, she's being given some mix-in powder for her food to help her pancreas. Basically her body is confused whether she needs to eat, stop eating, and what to do with food. So she hasn't gained any weight, but maybe now her body will know to fill up and absorb more.
Overall, I've not been given a reason to really worry about her. Just gotta take care of her cause she's old and we all know old bodies need a lot more care. <3
Had a lady come up to me at the vet. Gave me and Yan a blessing cause she said she could see a lot of love between us. We talked about how so many people are so against cats. Just the "I hate cat" fanatics out there who feel that's perfectly okay to say to anyone when they're in the possession of a cat. Lady was pretty religious, so she simply said "God is watching them, and if they hurt a cat, they'll just wind up in hell."
Heh ^^; She amused me, and was really nice to talk to to pass the time.
Other news, I should start moving into my new house either tomorrow or Monday. And this will continue until September 15th at the latest. =3=; Well... least it's not that much stuff honestly. Should only take 1 trip for all the big items (tvs, desk, couch, dresser) and the rest I can slowly bring to the house every other day. Kinda planning...
Pack at Apartment> Go to work> Go to house to unpack and stay the night> Go to work> Go back to the partment to pack more and stay the night> Go to work.... continued...
Hope this works~ I only have 4 boxes right now. ^^;

Apparently a hilarious story
Posted 11 years agoSo a guy came up to me at work today. Stopped me in the hall and everything. Cause he just had this SUDDEN REALIZATION.
"Your name is Marina. And you were in the Navy."
I smiled. Yep... yep, that's quite a thing you thought of there guy. So I told him a story...
"One day I was getting something done in medical. The corpsman asked me for my name of course. I told him 'Marina'. He then asked me how to spell that. To which I replied 'you're in the Navy, and you don't know how to spell Marina?'"
...
This guy CRACKED UP. In fact, he thought the story was so funny, I caught him telling it to more guys in the break room. Whenever I was in the same room as him, he then grabbed someone else's attention going "Hey, did you hear her story about a guy in the Navy not knowing how to spell her name? And her name is MARINA?!"
... well, he's going to keep me amused.
My work environment is so entertaining.
Back from the Vet
Posted 11 years ago...and back from Japan. Yeah. But there's not much to talk about there~ It was fun. Got to see things and visit places I love and missed. Got a Madoka cosplay~ so that's coming up to be worn in October.
But when I got home, I noticed Yanyan wasn't any better. Before I left, she was always kinda sad looking. She didn't want to climb up to high places, hid herself in our pantry and peed right outside of the pantry cause she didn't want to walk all the way to her litter box.
What worried me most was her weight loss. She only weighed 9lbs earlier this year, but she's dropped to 7lbs, which is a lot for a cat her size.
Took her to the vet today and with all those symptoms plus a few others, we discovered she has a heart murmur and hyper thyroids. Murmur is probably caused by the thyroids that have increased her metabolism and is making her heart beat at like 200 per minute (average for a cat is about 150). And it hurts her kidneys and changes her attitude around.
She sure scared me with all the changes in her behavior and body. But the vet says she should get better with some medicine he's given me. So in about 3 weeks we'll hopefully see some changes.

Assumptions Journal
Posted 11 years agoFor the heck of it~
Write down any assumptions about me, about anything, and I'll tell you how correct or absolutely wrong your assumption(s) are!
So far in Japan land
Posted 11 years agoAggghhhblah I can't believe it took me a whole 3 days to eat Japanese food. The very first day we did eat off base, but it was an Indian restaurant. Then the next day I had stuff I needed to buy at the NEX and wound up eating Filipino food.
Finally.
Today.
I ate at Yoshinoya/Beef Bowl... not the best Japanese food but at least it hits the mark. Phew. Once the weekend hits, I plan to head out to Ikebukuro and/or Akihabara for more arcades and cosplay shopping. (I've never been much of a landmark tourist...)
Had 2 great nights of hanging out with old co-workers. Both of them are leaving this Friday so that's likely the last I'll see of them. We had food, alcohol, and karaoke... that's about all you need for a farewell party.
First day in the Arcades again, I won a watch for my boyfriend. It's a replica of the watch from Case Closed, which I thought it would be great to win since he may do a cosplay from that soon. Yay great grab machine skillz~ It even has the flippy target thingy and a laser pointer.
Today I went to another arcade and reclaimed a Konami card to start playing Jubeat again. I'll be prepared next time Bemani comes to Houston!
And then I won a cat. So ends my 3rd day.

Japan land again
Posted 11 years agoI haven't had a chance to make an AX journal cause I was instantly bombarded with stress of getting my orders and tickets together for Japan along with house stuff. X. X;
But yep. In Japan again. Ready to do some shopping and play arcade games! \o3o/
Sorry I've been out of contact with like.... Everyone. But to be fair, only 3 people seem to ever contact me on their own.
AGH I HATE LOS ANGELES...
Posted 11 years ago...ROADS.
How the hell does anyone drive here? I've seen more stupid drivers and stupid curves and stupid hills and stupid misleading signs in 4 days in Los Angeles than I have seen in Houston and Japan IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I've seen a wreck everyday... well hell, I've seen one every time I'm on the road just about.
Like last night... we went to a restaurant that's 25 minutes away from our hotel. It took about 40 to get there cause a wreck happened and we slowed down to a stupid pace, and then we got lost (but that's another matter). We got there and ate, which took maybe an hour and a half... then when we were back on the road, there was another wreck that slowed us to a near halt.
And I got lost about 4 times cause the combination of fucking retarded signs and random forks in the roads that lead to more forks in the road (which are unforgiving if you turn towards one but happened to be in the wrong lane)... and seriously LA.... If a road DIVIDES.... don't name both ways the SAME FUCKING THING. Also stop turning almost every single right lane into an "Exit Only" lane like .3 miles before the exit. I was part of a string of 4 or 5 cars who didn't see that change coming and we were all trying to get into the next damn lane in the middle of busy night traffic only to have THAT lane turn into an "Exit Only" lane a little way down the road.
Seriously. Worse city I've ever driven in to an almost sickening level.
Anime Expo was a lot of fun~ You'll get more on that later. P:

Off to Cali~
Posted 11 years agoTomorrow I leave~ My bf should be picking me up at the airport and on the 3rd we'll be headed to Anime Expo!
Looking so forward to this. I need a vacation like mad or the stress will be the death of me.
Hopefully I'll release lot a tension and get my creativity flowing again. I'll like to get some drawings done over the week. We'll see what colors I get from the Art Contest~
Anime Expo~ in LA July 3rd-6th
Posted 11 years agoI was planning on making this journal on Tuesday cause then just a week to go... but whatever~ 8 days and I'll be in California to attend Anime Expo on the 3-6th~
I'll be dressed as Sailor Mars. If I can't seem to function in heels, expect me to be wearing some red plaid shoes which will really make me stand out. ha ha
So far I just know I plan to be at the AniMystery RPG: Legend of Zelda game. I'm still plotting my schedule with my love~
I'll also be collecting my prize~ Thanks everyone who helped me take 3rd place in the art contest! It's some money and a set of Copic markers as the prize. I'll also have the piece displayed...somewhere at the con. Maybe I'll meet more people here since I "signed" it with my DA name/address here. XD;
Thanks again~
...and I seem to have a list of friends to meet too. x.x; Well, who wants to add themselves to that list??

Happy Friday the 13th!
Posted 11 years agoAnd what a beautiful full moon~
I tell ya what... Monday started and by Tuesday I gave up on my week. Just...wasn't having it. Too many things went wrong so I calmly put all my expectations away and let the week just... be.
And so Wednesday and Thursday just went by without me really trying to push them along.
And now Friday is here and good stuff just kinda showed up on it's own~
> First thing in the morning, I received the email that I won 3rd in Anime Expo's art contest.
> Later I got my orders to Japan done from the Navy Reserve.
> I got the loan for my house hunt.
> Work overall just passed by without me even knowing.
> I got invited to a cosplay party tonight.
> My cosplay wig came in!
But I'm not going to dress up to the party cause it turns out everyone I'm with is a drag. Wondering if I even wanna go.
But everything is good. Looking forward to July~ <3

Freebie Livestream [OFF]
Posted 11 years agoThanks for coming all that did~ looks like I got a lot done! <3
After a very depressing night, but also because I'm happy to draw again, I'll do some free sketches for awhile. Maybe 2 or 3 hours.
Thing is, I'll pick and choose whoever one at a time as I finish a freebie. Just, whoever is active at the time. I'm tired of shouting for people for several minutes cause it's "their turn".
https://www.picarto.tv/live/channel.....?watch=Rinaran
Appreciate it if you actually stick around and talk.
Music: On
Mic: Off

Back in business~
Posted 11 years agoAlready have done some test sketches and that painting. Looks like my arm isn't too agitated now. I still wear an ace bandage around it at home though.
But hey~ I went to boot camp again and was 3rd in most push-ups in 5 one minute rounds! So I feel pretty good again physically.
Mentally I'm still taking on a lot. Just going to count days towards a vacation...
And that's just what's been up...
Posted 11 years agoMy week is flying by. Which is good, cause it's kinda been rough.
No drawing
No boot camp
No comments really...
Why?
Cause my wrist hurts. I don't know the reason, and I'm always scared when it starts feeling like it's twisted up in my forearm. Been doing my usually stretches along with some new ones. But I guess the best thing for it is just rest cause I haven't given it that in... months maybe. Sucks... I hate idle hands. I hate an idle right hand especially.
Next...been house hunting. Just... gah.
Almost every day after work we have a house to walk through. I'll usually send the Realtor 3 to look at...and always always... the 2 I liked more go pending or off the market and the one I liked least is the one we walk through.
Until today.
In which I caught between two houses at the same price. One is a great location but is older. Then a brand new one (read: Not even finished being built until August...perfect time for me) that's in a location that seems... out of the way. But it might be worth it with all the extra warranties provided and such. Hard to say.
My sis is no help, as she plans to play Devil's advocate any time I start leaning towards one or the other. Dad won't really help until Sunday he says.
You know, it would really feel nice to not be so damn alone in all of this. Considering all I give and do for the people around me.
I'm really glad I get a vacation first week of July and then just get away from all of THIS for about 3 more weeks later in July. I don't know how much relaxing that will be. I'm to go active duty for 3 weeks back in Yokosuka. Yay~ Japan again. But... who knows what the Navy is planning to do to me then. :S
So my life has really be up in the air with no certainties and of course... no one really helping me irl. Let's not even talk about bills I pay by myself despite... I probably shouldn't be.

First bad day of boot camp
Posted 11 years agoFinally happened. ^-^;
I don't know what changed today from any other session. If anything it was EASIER than the other days. But while doing warm up stretches, I tweaked something in my groin/thigh region and it just made everything else not worth it.
I did all I could to work up a sweat, but I just wanted to get off my leg. WHY SO MUCH JUMPING AND SQUATTING TODAY?! Ugh... it was more a matter of pride and looking so pathetic compared to the rest of the people. I knew no one knew what was going on with me, so I just looked like I was half assing everything or not fit enough to jump on a tire. :|
Well...time for a long break and another ice pack.
This what I was afraid of!

... well, we did an arm workout on Thursday. Climbing ropes, battle ropes, pull ups, push ups... etc. And if you don't know, it usually takes a day for the stiffness to set in. So today, I woke up, and my arms are like lead in my bed. But I dug out the masochist in me and forced them to move. Hence I'm typing this... and I will make breakfast.
But yeah, this is crazy feeling. My elbows don't want to leave a 90 degree position. eeeep.
Yeah, I'm having fun. XD
