Announcement for Patreon changes (2025)
General | Posted a year agoHello everyone, I’m Risen! It’s been a while, and today I’d like to chat with you all. (This journal is directly moved from my Patreon! I also put a brief tl;dr version in the comment.)
First, thank you to all my patrons for supporting me so far. I hope everyone has enjoyed The White Stone Inn 1 and the comics I’ve released up to now. As a freelance creator, I’ve always tried to find a balance between sharing my work and generating income. In addition, I’m currently working on a life plan for 2025, which involves moving and significant changes in my career. As a result, there will be some adjustments to my comic production.
Let me outline the adjustments I’ll be making:
In the past, whenever I finished a piece of work, I couldn’t wait to share it with everyone and gain more creative motivation from your feedback and support. Sharing my thoughts and things I love with all of you has always been very important to me. However, I also hope that my Patreon subscription will grow steadily with each update, which naturally requires excellent content, good exposure, and, of course, your enthusiasm and support! During the release of White Stone Inn, I noticed that sometimes the number of patrons decreased rather than increased. Perhaps this is because White Stone Inn, being an original piece, is a bit niche at times, but I’ll continue to improve. Based on my recent observations, I feel that the one- to two-week exclusivity period on Patreon might be too short, which has caused the exclusivity to lose some appeal. So, in the future, I plan to extend the time my work stays on Patreon to at least a month before making it publicly available. I’ll also work on releasing content more consistently on Patreon to improve the attractiveness and value of the comic tier. This adjustment should have minimal impact on current Patrons, but I apologize in advance if it causes any inconvenience.
I really enjoy telling stories, but I know most people support me because they want to see “sexy” art. Stories, however, help readers immerse themselves in the characters’ interactions and understand their emotions. A good story usually requires a longer format to be told effectively. For example, White Stone Inn has 33 pages, and The Full Moon 2 exceeds 60 pages. These full-color comics require a lot of effort to produce, and most of the time, I’m responsible for the art all by myself. The pressure of producing one page a week has significantly diminished my enthusiasm for creating, and even impacted my mental and physical health. So, in the future, I will focus on creating 2–4 pages of short comics, which are easier and quicker to produce. I might open up voting or use a YCH approach to decide the content for the short comics each month, which should be fun. As for long-form comics, I’ll work on them slowly behind the scenes and release them on Patreon when they’re ready. So, for those who enjoy my long-form stories, I kindly ask for your patience.

I hope these adjustments will have minimal impact on my current patrons. Being a freelance creator is never easy, as so many things have to be conceptualized and handled by me alone. This is also what attracts me to this career. But I really need your feedback, so if you have more ideas or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment and discuss with me!

Life Update and Open for Commission!!
General | Posted 4 years agoLong story short, I quit my day job and have decided to become a freelance artist.
I’ve been thinking about this for a year, and the only thing holding me back was my financial security, as it was simply too risky to start from zero without any savings.
So after almost two years of working during the day and making art at night, I have finally saved up enough to start my own adventure! I want to thank my friends and family who support me 100%, even though they aren’t quite sure what I am doing. And of course, my fans and Patreon supporters, as you are one of the biggest reasons that this life-changing plan could happen.
Soooo, now that I need to work as a full time artist, I am going to open for commission.
I expect to open for at least 3 slots each month if I want to keep creating comics. But instead of making an announcement and doing a raffle every month, I want to try out using Google survey as the tool to apply for slots.
It’s simple! You just go to the survey link and fill out the form, and I will reply to you if you got the slot. But I need to state clearly that I am going to pick ones that suit my schedule and skill better if the demand is more than what I can offer.

The 1$ tier can access art feeds and wip now. The 5$ tier stays the same, if you want comic early access, this is the one for you. The new 15$ tier gets three new benefits! UPDATE NOTES:
So, I made an update to my patreon plan. The 1$ and 5$ tiers are mainly the same, and I’m adding more benefits to the 15$ tier. Now the 1$ tiers can access my artworks feeds, including personal arts, commission arts, concept arts…etc. But cannot access to new comic posts. On the other hand, the 5$ tier can still early access comic pages and stays pretty much the same. So if you are here because of my comics, this is the best choice for you.
During 2020, the 15$ tier didn’t seem to perform well. It’s mainly because it’s not really worthier than 5$ tier, and I always treat it as a choice for those who really really love my works and want to support me as much as they can. Right now, three new benefits are added to 15$ tier, one is getting behind the scenes, and time-lapse video on discord server, secondly, a custom emote of your character on discord server.
Finally, about the future sticker rewards of the 15$ tier. Patreon offers a merch make-and-deliver service for creators and I think it’s pretty cool! But since it’s a new feature to me, I don’t want to rush it. The reward I’m going to make is a sticker sent to you. According to Patreon, merch for membership requires a patron pledging for 3 consecutive successful payments to the tier, and includes,
• Access to high-quality products, customized by the creator
• Automatic fulfillment
• Tracked shipping
• Customer support, lost and damaged item replacement
So I am going to make some design sketches and let my patrons vote for one, then I will start the merch service. It will happen during the middle of 2021 I think.

As the title says, I am feeling blue lately whenever I thought that the Full Moon was ended.
Ofc, I am super happy about the result, and also the feedback I got from you guys are amazing. It's just a feeling of losing something that cheers me up every week. Don't know if you feel the same.
That's actually all I wanna say but since I started this journal, I may as well keep you guys updated. ^^;
Well, The comic of my fairy dragon, Riller, is half-way done. The comic is called "Out of Control", and the full colored version will be on Patreon. I hope I can finish it by the end of 2020 and start posting it next year asap! So stay tuned!

My thoughts and some updates for early 2020
General | Posted 6 years agoHello, everyone! This is Risen. I am here to give you some updates for my art life and maybe share some of my true thoughts.
I am currently working on a Doujin comic, called Full Moon, it's about 32 pages long and I plan to finish it in 2~3 months. It's now written in Chinese, but I will eventually translate it into English so don't worry. It will also be printed out so if you are those who like to collect doujin comic book irl, it's good news I guess. It's my first time making this kind of stuff and lots of things are still new to me. To pull this off, I need all your support and patience. big hugs! <3
We now have 8 pages of it in total. It's just getting started and I thought I can take it easy and draw it page by page like what I did with Chapter 1, but after planing on the Doujin comic I realized that it's not gonna work because Chapter 2 has a longer storyline and the emotion needs to be consistent. I prefer to pause it while making the Doujin comic. I don't wanna give you something that's roughly done.
I always ask myself, "Are people getting tired of my stuff?", "Am I not active enough?", or "Is this shit not worth sharing?"
Sure, we always say that it's not about the views, but as creators, Those views, likes, and comments are still an important way for us to know how we performed. Sadly, I personally don't think I reached my standard in the past year and I don't know what I need to do with it, yet. The reason must be on me, maybe I didn't make something you guys want or I just didn't put enough effort into my works... again, I still don't know. I am now putting all my hope in this comic and I hope it can be a hit or some kind of milestone.
After a year of trying, I realized that publishing rewards tiers are pretty dumb idea because I am not a full-time artist. I don't really have time to do the rewards and my other stuff at the same time, it's that simple. Rewards tier sure can bring more people, but usually, those people consider it as a trade, "I give you money every year, I should have something back, right?" I am not saying that it's wrong, it's just not what I need. If I don't have time to do rewards, they will certainly leave. Even if I really need extra money, I could just do the commission, it's much fairer. By closing the reward tiers, It prevents me from planing something big earlier than I should be. So at this point, I will just let Patreon grow passively. I want to let my own stuff convince you to pledge and become a funder.
I know this journal sounds a bit down, some people who know me might get surprised since I am usually much more positive and cheerful. If you are still reading, thank you with all my heart. It means a lot to me. <3

Manga Style Commission is now open!!! (Closed)

Speaking of the comic, Typhiebui, there are 8 cute wonderful pages done in total, and I am thinking about releasing it to the public. It's far from being done, but it's not good to keep you guys waiting for too long. Especially that I am pausing Typhiebui for now.

So I am back, with some news!

Due to a very important exam of my life held on early July, I had to stop my activity on the internet and drawing during the whole of June so I can have enough time to prepare it.
When I was studying for the exam, I found that both my page and Twitter reached 2000 followers!! I really really want to say thanks or maybe draw a picture for it to celebrate but the rational part of me told me not to. It was a really dark time and depressing time for me. But everything passes, now the exam's over and I can get back to life here again!
And I want to say a big massive thank you to all you guys, 2K is incredible!!
So, about the news.
I changed my Patreon tier, The Icon Tier, to YCH icon Tier. and I will release 8 slots for each month.
The rule is pretty simple and I bet you guys are more familiar to the YCH than I am.
Basically, I will post a YCH icon design template (mostly for Discord), if you want one for your character, just click this link, it will bring you to my Patreon page.

Patreon Update!! New tier with Icon rewards and Commissions!
General | Posted 7 years agoIt has been 2 years since I started my art life and it's amazing. We almost hit the 2,000 watchers mark, omg!
I can't ever thank all of supporters enough, no matter if they're watchers that love my art, or artists that help me a lot. I couldn't have done it without all of you!
I want to do a special thanks to all the people who pledged on my Patreon, those who believe in me and stick with me even when I was in the military and producing low quantity and quality production. You guys are the best!
So, it's a new era for me now, military life just ended, which means I shall start to find a job. But no matter what I do, I will not give up my art dream, that's not gonna change. Right now, I am starting a new life that brings me more time to focus on my arts and learn something different, do something different!
An update is needed for my Patreon page. I always feel that it's not a good set up for me and for my Patrons, though there are still people who keep supporting me there (again, big thanks to you!). But now, I need to make it healthier for me and the supporters!
Here are the things that changed:
Reward tier for Discord icons / emotes, and a Commission Ticket tier for getting a guaranteed commission slot on the month your pledge goes through! These are all the tier that have a limit of pledgers each month, be sure to check it out if you are interested!
Now only the comic page will have early access, you can view my newest artworks immediately once I post them on the various community sites, but, if you're a patron, you will get full resolution versions of them. And for the higher tiers, you get early access to new comic pages, as well as access to my WIP files that I post on an irregular basis.
We've got a discord server with lovable people in it but I figured that having only my patrons in it is kinda stupid. So...yeah, this server is now open to everyone who loves my arts and wants a place to maybe talk about it or just hang out. It still has channels only for my patrons so you won't be bothered by all the Patreon stuff going on. :3
On the other hand, patrons don't have to worry about losing their rights as supporters.

Back from China, and plans for the future.

I can finally do one thing that I want.

okay, just kidding, the point is, I now have plenty of time to draw. So at this very moment, I am here to tell you what comes next with Risenpaw. ;3
First, Comic! there would be a 5-page short NSFW comic coming out.
I planned for it with the commissioner for months and I am very excited about it.
Secondly, Commissions! Commission slots would be open soon I hope as long as we hit 1000 watchers.
but I probably won't open too many slots since I got a comic to make.
Last but not least, personal arts.
As you may probably remember, I got a comic series called "TyphieBui" going on. It's a short comic series about two cute pokemon's life. And at first I just want to do it for fun, but I found it's getting some really good reviews and also I had a lot of fun making this comic. So I think when I got time for personal arts, I will try to extend the story of Typhiebui on a deeper and broader level. But it will still remain a short comic with cute, sweet story in it.

As you may know, China has some strict policy of internet.
So I am not sure if I can be active on FA or Discord during then.
and even if I can, I still want to devote myself entirely to my internship and explore the country.
Therefore, I don't think I' ll have much time for drawing, either.
But don't worry, it's only for a short period of time, I will be Back. ^w^

I know it's been a while since I posted my last work, well, that's because now I am focusing on my comic and also, some of my finished works are not supposed to be posted by now.
But hey, my schedule for this semester is finally set and I should get more time to draw, so I think why not change some plan and get closer to my watchers or peeps in here? So here's my plan:
Upcoming arts:
1. Comic project.
2. Risen's ref page.
3. make a dragon character.
4. Collabs with artists or writer.
5. more clean and lewd stuff.
Commission things:
Commission will be open in next month if everything goes well.
Also, the price list will be changed, to make it more fit for the work, in other words, currently, I feel some of my commissions aren't worth that much and some of them should worth more.
But don't worry, I think I will still make it affordable, and maybe reopen the ref page tier, and add some new options like short comic.
Streaming:
I found myself not so suited for streaming, but I keep hearing some people asked for it.
So I am thinking I will stream at least once a month, and I will start a poll of some theme or characters I want to draw when streaming and let you decide.
Feedbacks:
It’s a small issue, well, I believe every artist needs feedback on what they provide, so please spend some time and give me a reply or simply just favorite it when you like it. It will help me understand what is your preference, and I’d be very appreciated.

So, I decided to close my commission for a while to do a project, and what in my mind are:
1. R-18 comic of my characters, Temper the Typh and Blade the Dewott.(8 pages)
2. R-18 doujin manga of Buizel x Archen from PSMD(12 pages)
3. A lewd magazine of Risen. (just lewd pics of Risen with some texts in it. X3)
(it's not going to be really like a magazine because some people are asking. just 6-8 pages of Risen lewding solo or with someone.)
