I don't get it.
General | Posted 14 years agoSo the other day I started watching that show, "Fatal Attractions", which features stories of people who were killed by dangerous animals, usually ones they kept as pets. Now, call me an a-hole if you will, but I simply can't make myself feel sorry for the folks involved. After all, the animal was doing what millions of years of developing programmed it to do. Sure, I do feel for the victim's families, but isn't here a reason most people have fluffy little kitties instead of a 300 lb. tiger? I mean, shouldn't the first rule of thumb for having a pet be "Never keep anything that views you as a chew toy"?
Bad news from home....
General | Posted 14 years agoI just heard from home that one of my favorite high school teachers passed away. One of my PE instructors, she was somewhat homely, grumpy, and maybe even a little crazy. I know what you are thinking, why did I like her so much if she was like that? Simple. She shared my love of classic cars, my hatred of people doing stupid things to cars, and was every bit as cynical as I am. Last time I talked to her, she mentioned she was restoring a 50's Chevrolet. Her daughter also served in the military, as an MRAP driver.
Rest in peace, Mrs. K, I'll miss griping about the world with you.
(I know this seems to be a bit negative about her, but if you knew her level of sarcasm, she'd approve.)
pimpin again (sry XD)

Pimpin
General | Posted 14 years agoI just realized...
General | Posted 14 years agoRemember that episode of South Park where everything looks and sounds like s**t to Stan, and the doctor diagnoses him as "Being a cynical prick"? It just got me thinking, I may finally know what's wrong with me! :D
Birthday today
General | Posted 14 years agoYep, I'm officially to the point where birthdays don't mean squat aside from work mates kidnapping you to buy you stuff at the bar. Just thought I'd shout it out.
Happy Fourth
General | Posted 14 years agoI'm not much of a poet, so you won't hear a big, long speech from me, but have a good, safe Fourth.
R.I.P. Clarence Clemons
General | Posted 14 years agoI just heard the news: Clarence Clemons, Bruce Springsteen's saxophone player, passed away last night. I guess all we can do for The Big Man is thank him for his years of great playing with The Boss.
Thanks, Vets!
General | Posted 14 years agoThought I would make a shout out for Memorial Day.
Guy Gets DUI on a Scissors Lift
General | Posted 14 years agoI didn't believe it at first either.
Random Update
General | Posted 14 years agoThings have been pretty quiet around here, but I have had a few things going on. I went to go check out a first-gen Viper that one of the dealers around here got, and it was awesome. I've been shopping around for a classic Plymouth a bit more aggressively than before, but I still can't find anything in my budget. I found a couple awesome Sport Fury convertibles, but I can't afford the work they need at the moment.
I've got a couple train swaps coming up, and I am going to try to make it to a few transportation museums this summer as well.
I'm on the hunt for a job; so far I've applied to a few bureaus in the Department of the Interior and the US Army Corps of Engineers (as a civilian consult). So far the Dept. of the Interior has shown a bit of interest, but it sounds as if the USACOE doesn't have any cash for new hires yet. I've been ranked as one of the top applicants for the Bureau of Land Management as a field technician, so I'm hoping that it will lead to an interview.
As anyone else in college right now, I'm ready for the end of the semester. Hopefully I will only have a couple more semesters before I can graduate.
That's all for now.

Happy....Whatever you celebrate
General | Posted 14 years agoI'll bet for many of you it's Easter, but I'm sure there's a celebration around this time in other faiths as well, so yah.
Free art contest
General | Posted 14 years agoWTF is wrong with people?
General | Posted 14 years agoWell, today started out normal, until I went to a night lecture as a compliment to one of my classes. Along the way, I passed a September 11th memorial on campus, which consists of a concrete slab with an inscription and two limestone pillars with lights. You guessed it, someone decided that it would be cute to smash out sizable chunks from each pillar. People just make me sick.
This is disturbing LOL
General | Posted 14 years agoForget waterboarding, we need to address this...
Ask me anything.
General | Posted 14 years agoGo for it.
Back
General | Posted 14 years agoI had a decent time away, but it's good to be back home. We went from Dallas to Austin, down to San Antonio, spent a bit of time in Freeport, and finally back to Dallas. I got to see BNSF's headquarters, the Alamo, the road on which President Kennedy was assassinated, and a whole lotta miles of nothing in between LOL. I did go to the Salt Lick BBQ by a suggestion and thought it was pretty good. Well, I'm calling it a night, but I'll post pictures soon.
Back in a few days.
General | Posted 14 years agoWell, at the last minute my family invited me to go to Dallas with them, so I figured a free trip is a free trip. I know a couple of my watchers are down in TX, but as much as I'd love to meet you, I probably won't get a chance, so next time I guess.
A bit on Japan
General | Posted 14 years agoI don't know what else to say, so I'll make this brief. I'm not sure on the exact situation, but it sounds as if things are far from being under control. With the body count and the nuclear power plants, it can't be easy over there. Times like these are never easy to hear about, let alone live through. I am keeping them in my thoughts and prayers, which is about all I can do.
Say No to Absinthe.....
General | Posted 15 years agoMy friend offered me some "Green Devil" last night. Being the adventurous idiot I am, I was rewarded by a decent amount of barfing both at night and this morning. On top of that, I woke up feeling like someone was slowly forcing a dull machete into the middle of my skull. Spare yourself the trouble and just say no should you be offered that stuff.
Why not to wear fur coats in trailer parks.
