Is the furry fandom becoming like Car culture?
General | Posted 3 months agoIts funny how people say the furry fandom is turning toxic, I had one student artist, tell me she was looking at getting out of the fandom and give up being an artist, luckily I talked her out of it
I disagree with the idea the furry fandom is becoming toxic, i believe we just have a major troll problem
Now if you really wanna see toxicity, you should see Car culture in the US...now that's the textbook definition of toxic environment, where fights, bullying and shooting are the norm. at nearly every car meet
And when have you ever heard of a shooting at a furry convention?
Ya know SEMA in Las Vegas used to be open to the public but after 4 shooting, its now only open to automotive press and some invited auto youtubers, the public can't attend.
Man, it would've really suck if furry conventions became invitation only.
I think people in the fandom need to be a bit more scrutinizing ( I guess ) of new people in order to weed the trolls out.

General | Posted 8 months agoThis has come up on FA from time to time and I've had students ask me about this today, personally has someone who been going to Midwest Fur Fest for over 18 years, I feel that MFF is at the right place and it hasn't outgrown Rosemont.
So I'll like to ask the community, should MFF move? If so then where? Has the closest options would be Downtown Chicago, Milwaukee,WI St.Louis MO or Detroit, MI

MFF was the highlight of the year!
General | Posted 12 months agoMidwest FurFest was an absolute blast! I had the time of my life meeting some incredible cool people.
The band Rebel and Cleric was outstanding! Has was all the DJ Thursday and Friday Night
It was also my first opportunity to visit Chicago new Gangnam Market ( https://gangnammarketusa.com/ ) and hello tokyo in Niles ( https://www.hellotky.com/ ) along with King Spa ( https://kingspa.com/chicago/ )
I didn't know about these places till MFF
Plus I can't thank that staff at the Hampton Inn- Schiller Park for a great stay, the hotel suite was top notch!
I can't wait to go back next year!

General | Posted a year agoI want to offer this up to any of my Democrat friends out there who are living in Red states. Peoria, Illinois is a BLUE CITY within a BLUE STATE. Governor Pritzker is AMAZING. We have Super majorities in the legislature., and The housing costs are VERY LOW. Only 2 and half hour drive from Chicago or St. Louis and it's 1 hour drive from the State Capitol in Springfield .

General | Posted a year agoAnother ACEN in the books! Incredible artists, fun panels, even did a little bit of voice acting. a great time nonetheless!
By far the highlight of my acen was meeting Jia-Shen Liao from epilinet
Getting to meet him and see his puppetry in person was awesome and made the con so special! My favorite character is Lǐn Xuě Yā/Rin, if you haven't seen thunderbolt fantasy, I highly recommend checking it out.
on the music side, The Win Morisaki concert was outstanding, best of the con,
Dealers hall and artist alley were good, prices for merch, was more reasonable this year than last year, & I picked up a few goodies
Has for the hotel we strayed at, well...im a life lone Hilton Honors member, but this year, we stayed at the Marrott, Room was spacious, and the bathroom was very clean and comfortable. The Murphy bed was comfier than it looked, and it was like sleeping on a cloud. The extra bedding was also a great way to help with temperature control in the room. the food & drinks from the on-site restaurant were very good, everything was clean, and housekeeping did a great job
I guess my biggest pet pev with the hotel was the parking at $35 dollars a night. i'm sorry BUT PARKING SHOULD BE FREE!
otherwise, it was a great con!

Cautionary Tale: Convention-Room Parties
General | Posted 2 years agoSo, due to some family issues, I didn't get to make it to MFF this last weekend.
but from friends I've heard there were no major issues, and everyone had a great time, HOWEVER. reading on twitter there were 2 major incidents regarding room parties.
now I'm the type of person who's very hesitant to go to or host a room party with people I don't know.
And sadly, thanks to social media there are people out there who go to conventions ( furry,anime,star trek/wars ) to start shit, then make video post about it, in this case drugging people drinks. and from what I've heard a few people ended up going to the hospital.
so, my advice would be, if you're going to do an open room party at a convention, with people you don't know, keep it alcohol-free.

Moved into a new apartment, only to get sick with fucken covid
got promoted at work, only to now be on medical leave cause i was hit by a drunk driver, im ok but my nismo sentra took major damaged to the rear end, repairable but the body shops going to have to keep her for a few months, parts needed from Japan, bloody hell!
I can't get a break, it's always something 😒
This means I gotta put some furry projects on hold for a while, so updates will be very, very slow until I can get back upright.
But I thought I owe it to all my followers to let them know I'll be back!
