Oh hey
Posted 4 years agoSo I'm still alive, just not very active on here. I'll try to be more soon, tho! Thank you for watching anyway!
Back from MFM 2018
Posted 7 years agoHey! First, I know I don't use this account so much anymore. I'm trying to get back into posting here. Also I haven't made a journal in two years...
The convention was amazing! Donovan and I really missed getting to go to it for the last 2 years. We had seen a lot of familiar faces. Everyone else there seemed to be having a blast, and most people knew to keep their paws to themselves. We stayed three days, and really made the most of it. I debuted my new Sadie opossum full suit, as well as my new Pitbull character, Naomi. Donovan was sporting a new opossum partial, too! We both seemed to be a big hit! My opossum man got the best photos of the convention, go check out his gallery to see:
ancientloveletters
Much like family reunions, we really felt like this con embodied the phrase "welcome home".
Next up, we are shooting for the new convention, Anthro Southeast, in Chattanooga this October. And we definitely plan to go back to Mephit Furmeet again next year!

Please excuse me while I celebrate this fact for the next six months until the student loan bills come in.

Mephit Fur Meet, yeah

Posted 10 years ago I know I try to keep things like this in mind:
How easy it to pronounce?
Can a person hear you saying the name through your suit head? "Spot" probably sounds a lot like "Scott" under 3 inches of foam and fur!
Will it be easily misspelled?
"Now is that Schroder with an "sch-" or just "sh-"? wait, is there a "u" in Schroder?"
Of course a badge may help with this end of it. However, not everyone is the best with spelling, so mistakes will happen!
Does the name have the potential for unwanted innuendo?
I wanted to name a character "Rucksack", but thought better of it when I realized the "sack" part of the name would make it an easy target for sexual jokes ]:C
What things do you guys consider?

So when you watch fursuiters . . .
Posted 10 years agodo you ever just envision the sweating, slack-jawed, heavy breathing suit wearer beneath it on the verge of passing out in there? I'm pretty sure I don't look too stunning under there after a couple of hours of romping around in one.
Really, though, just do that next time you watch a con video. It'll change the way you see suiters!

And now to Mephit Furmeet again!
Posted 11 years agoDonovan and I will be at the con again this year. We probably won't be there the whole time, but we'll spend a good few hours there. Feel free to say "hi" while we're bopping around. Same suits as last year, but Donovan's head got a bit of a face lift C:
See you guys there!

Back from Mephit Furmeet! New Suit Debute!
Posted 12 years ago'Twas a fantastic experience. I and my opossum love ran a muck, debuting his first suit, Donovan Opossum and the revamped Sadie Opossum. I think the pair went over well.
We even got featured in a fursuit games video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKdn_DJ2puc
I also rocked my Teal Deer costume here and there.
I didn't get many photos, though hopefully I can find some floating around. I'll post what I can.
Everyone there was awesome to see and spend the weekend with. I hope to see everyone at future cons!
This was my second time in Memphis and only my second fur convention. I'm really looking forward to what more lies ahead!

WATCH THIS GIF. JUST FUCKING WATCH IT
Posted 12 years agoMiddle Tennessee Anime Convention Report
Posted 12 years agoThe convention was great! Stayed two nights at a hotel with my closest crew of six. The hotel was luxurious.
Half the time I fursuited as my opossum character, Sadie. The other half of the time I was a giant, floating Haunter ghost. I also helped to construct a giant boo costume and a marionette puppet of the dog character, Repede, from Tales of Vesperia for a friend. I'll be posting pictures soon.
The risque cosplay contest was outright hilarious! It was hosted by Eric Stuart(voice of Brock and James on the original Pokemon) and featured a fantastic cosplay of the Doctor, who eventually stripped to nothing but a pair of shiny black hot pants. It was wonderful!
Cons: too many Homestuck characters, too many Hetalia, too many PONIES. It's hard to stand out at a convention if you have the same costume as everyone else. Some managed to be pretty creative, though.
Also, there was an unpleasant 10-year-old Ash who insisted on demanding and snatching candy I was giving out, calling my opossum character a mongoose after he had already verbally clarified that I was a opossum, and following and staring at me, then swatting my hand. Reminded me why I don't want kids.
Pros: Got lots of love for both my costumes; many photos were taken and I got ten dozen hugs. Apparently Haunter was many people's favourite pokemon.
I also got to see many really awesome costumes. I'll post those, too.
As we were on our way out, I floated by Eric Stuart in my Haunter cosplay unknowingly, He apparently first did a double-take then gave my costume an approving nod. I felt very proud.
Next year, I'll be sure to start work sooner on the costumes so I'm not in such a rush. Overall, though, it was amazing! I definitely hope to do it all again next year!
Which fursuit maker would you choose for your suit?
Posted 12 years agoIf you could pick any fursuit builder, regardless of cost, no matter how well-known or lesser-known the designer is, to make a fursuit for you, who would you choose?
Personally, I'd pick Lobitaworks or Designosaur.
