GG-1 Locomotive Documentary

This documentary features a GG-1 restored by NJ Transit operating on their lines shortly before all GG-1s were retired.

The Okami Ending Song
General | Posted 11 years agohttp://www.animelyrics.com/game/okami/reset.htm
http://okami.wikia.com/wiki/Reset
I have listened to this song a fair number of times over the years, but I seem to understand why it was placed at the end of the game better now.
Over the years, I have witnessed loss of a fair number of things in my life. Some of these things were rather difficult to lose and it made me sad for a while.
However, I can see now that this song is right. A loss will always be a loss, end will always be an end, and that will never change. But one has to move on, to recover, and to be ok with it. Yet, keep the good memories, as those will always stay with you.
In Okami, this is the song that tells one that you have reached the end of the game, and even though you want to continue playing your current game and are sad to see it end, you need to watch the credit roll, enjoy your favorite moments from the game, and enjoy starting a new game.

Some Arctic Wolf Books and Videos that I Recommend
General | Posted 11 years agoI thought I would share a list of books and videos that I found interesting on this subject so others who are interested might be able to enjoy them.
1. White Falcon, White Wolf. - PBS Nature DVD. 2007
If you have ever wondered what life is like for Arctic Animals in Northern Canada, this video shows what many of them go through during the Summer months. This program was filmed in a way that makes it feel kind of like an IMAX film, even if played on a small player, and the music they picked also helps create this feeling.
If you like Arctic Wolves, Arctic Foxes, Snowshoe Hares, or Snowy Owls, this program is certainly worth checking out if you can find it for a good price.
2. National Geographic: White Wolf. - VHS and DVD 1986
This film is dedicated to Arctic Wolves. If you find them interesting, this video is well worth watching.
3. White Wolf: Living With An Arctic Legend. -Book by Brandenburg, 1988.
If you have a day to spend reading and looking through a book, this book will give you a good idea of what the lives of Arctic Wolves are like.

5 Weird Things About Me
General | Posted 11 years agoI saw where several fox friends of mine had filled this out, so I decided to name some of mine. :)
1. I have a bad fear of stinging insects. I am getting better with dealing with it, but they still scare me pretty bad sometimes.
2. I don't drink, but some days, I wish I could. :) (medically unable to.)
3. I like watching youtube videos of Emergency vehicles responding.
4. I am an Arctic Wolf/Ookami. I think that qualifies as a unique quality. :)
5. I prefer high end point and shoot cameras over DSLRs, but both have their advantages and disadvantages.
Feel free to fill this one out if you would like. :)

Not doing very well.
General | Posted 11 years agoI do not like writing journals like this, but I feel that it is best that those who watch me know what is going on.
Though I have been trying to get a few things done, the last two weeks have been tiring for me.
I seem to be somewhat ill, which has left me feeling exhausted even after doing things that don't take much energy.
I have also been not been getting the greatest rest, as I keep having bad dreams, likely due to not feeling well.
As a result, things have really slowed down here, and it has been difficult for me to be creative.
So though I do continue to work on things, it is a slow process at best.
Things have also been difficult on Skype lately.
Though I have tried to be around more on there, it is starting to feel like most don't have much interest in talking to me when I am there.
It is ok, many are busy, and there is plenty of other stuff for me to do as well, but it makes me feel kind of sad that few even take time to say hello anymore.
Hopefully things will get sorted out here eventually.

Status of Projects part 2.
General | Posted 11 years agoHey there, my friends.
Since it has been a long time since I last talked about my projects here, I felt this might be a good time to talk about what happened to them.
The stories are still being worked on, but my mind has been rather occupied with other things lately, which has kind of caused them to stall out again.
Linearts have ended up the same way. Have ideas, just haven't put the ideas on paper yet.
I do have some new photos from the zoo I will try to add soon though.
With Fall arriving here, I can say that its a good time to be outside.

Its getting rare to see DC-9 aircraft
General | Posted 11 years agoOn January 7th, 2014, Delta Airlines retired their last DC-9-50, ending the last normally scheduled DC-9 flight in the US.
While charters and cargo airlines will continue to operate these aircraft for years to come, this marks an end of an era for me.
As someone who saw and heard these planes daily from 2000-2011 and saw them in 2 different variants, for 3 different airlines, in 5 different paint schemes, it feels a bit odd to know that they are now a rarity.
Here are some photos of Northwest Airlines DC-9-31s that I remember well from 2008.

Status of Projects
General | Posted 11 years agoHey there, my friends.
I just wanted to post this so those who follow my journals know whats been going on.
I am still working on all of the projects here I had mentioned about a month ago, but things have slowed a bit due to me having to focus more on my physical health.
Overall, I'm not too bad, but I still feel tired most days, and still don't weigh as much as I would like.
The stories look a bit like this so far.
Main Ookami Story: Me and a couple of friends have the basic structure figured out and ready to go, I just need to add more to it. :)
Ookami-Kitsune Story: I have started it and have plenty of ideas, but its going to have a lot in it, so I need to organize it a bit more.
Aquatic Okamisune Story: This one has been coming along nicely, and I seem to work on it a bit every other day.
I have also been tempted to start working on linearts again, as I seem to have a couple ideas for them, but they take a fair amount of energy to create, so its kind of hard to get motivated. :)
Hopefully I'll have more stuff to post soon, but since all of my work here is purely for my enjoyment and the enjoyment of others, it will be finished when I feel it is good to go.

Writing About Wolves
General | Posted 11 years agoThis might be a bit of an odd post, so I am going to warn those who read my journals ahead of time.
Over the past 2 weeks, I have been finding out many interesting things about the lives of wolves.
There are many things I like about the Okami video game... one thing that really interested me about it however, was that it was fun to just play as a wolf. :)
Though I enjoy very much writing Ookami stories, RPing as one when possible, and feel that my character overall works very well in furry and old Japanese settings... I seem to be looking for ways that I could be creative in ways where things are a bit more realistic to the way that real wolves live.
In my 5+ years in furry and being interested in wolves, I never really was able to play/exist as a regular feral Arctic Wolf or Tundra Wolf.
Things tend to be easier and might be happier in RPs and writing where one doesn't have to struggle to survive, but that is not how real wolves live, and to me it would be interesting to sometime explore more wild settings.
The difficulty I am having, is how to express this interest.
I could probably write stories as a lone wolf, but by doing so, I have found that lone wolves often live difficult and shortened lives, and due to the lack of a pack, are unable to do many things.
I would write about a pack, but doing so would be difficult as I would have to try to write for every other wolf in the pack, probably resulting in a pack where all the wolves are like me. :)
I have noticed that there are many Wolf RPG forum sites out there that seem to focus on detailed realism, but I don't really know what to make of them.
There is also the possibility of writing poetry, but my skills in it are limited at best.
If anyone has ideas for me on what I can do, it would be appreciated.

Feeling worn out.
General | Posted 11 years agoWell, my friends, my body continues to give me problems, which is slowing just about everything down.
I am ok overall, and able to function... but many things are painful, and I seem tired and weak.
I don't know what is going on, but if it gets much worse, I will likely have to see a doctor.
Things overall are ok here, though I feel as though its going to be a while before things improve much.
The downtime has not all been bad though.
It has been interesting to learn more than I already knew about wolves and their struggles, especially those of arctic wolves.
The amount of written works out there on wolves is interesting to me as well.
Its starting to me think that I have been missing out on some things over the years by being focused more on other interests.
I don't feel bad for pursuing those other interests, but perhaps now it is time for me to focus more on wolves, as doing so seems to be helping me get through life's difficulties, and has left me feeling like perhaps I need more of the natural world in my life.

Why I am in Furry.
General | Posted 11 years agoEveryone has their own reason for why they are in Furry.
I thought some might be interested to hear why I am here.
For me, its my love of animals, and fursuits, and the friends I have made while being here.
Mine interest started when I discovered fursuit photos while searching for photos of red pandas.
I liked that by wearing a fursuit, one could not only have a good time, but it was also the closest one could get to being an actual animal.
Coming up with a fursona was another matter though.
At first I liked red pandas because they are cute and playful.
But, after finding out about the game Okami, and learning much about Arctic Wolves in the process, I found that being an Arctic Wolf/Okami was much more fitting to who I am. This remains the case, with me feeling it even more strongly now.
Throughout the years, I also made some good friends here, which I care deeply about.
It is rare that I have had friends that would pray for me when I'm sick, or show that they care in such big ways.
It feels nice to help others as well, something I wasn't sure if I was doing a good job of until I came here.
In furry, there are also things one can't really do elsewhere. I have yet to see many places where one can RP as an Ookami, Kitsune, or a combination of both. There are also few places where an Arctic Wolf can drive a truck, train, or direct traffic, without it seeming out of place. Its also a place where one can collect plushies and wolf stuff.
With furry, its as they say... the only limit is ones imagination. :)
My interests and reasons for being here might be different than what most furries are into, but I would never give up furry. It would hurt far too much.

Watch and listen to NS trains live
General | Posted 11 years agoThe town of Cresson, PA has a nice setup for NS railfans.
A bed and breakfest there known as the Station Inn, has a live, sound-enabled webcam which provides a nice view of action on the NS Pittsburgh line.
http://www.railstream.biz/live-came.....resson-pa-free
In addition, there is also a live radio feed in the same town, which can be fun to listen to along with the video feed.

There are about 75-80 movements in the area per day, so there is a fair amount of action.

How things have been.
General | Posted 11 years agoThings have changed a bit here lately, so I feel its best to let others know whats going on.
Its been one of those months...
July is typically a hot and boring month here, though this one has at least had a few redeeming qualities.
There have been a few cool days where I have been able to go to the zoo and get some nice photos, which is always good.
There has also been just enough rain to keep things balanced, which is a pleasant change from the years of drought that I had been used to seeing.
I also have gotten back into writing here which has been nice.
It is a bit of a slow process, as it is just me working on it currently, but I at least do seem to have a bit of interest from a couple of my friends.
As far as making friends goes... Its been mixed.
I lost two in one months time, including one that had been a good friend of mine for almost 2 years.
But I at least seemed to have gained one new one.
One thing that I have been finding lately, is that Japan has some interesting trains.
There seems to be a bit of everything there, from very old to very modern, and quite a few things that are somewhere in between.
My favorites lately have been their steam engines, as they operate on scenic narrow gauge lines.
This youtube video shows quite a few of them in different settings.
http://youtu.be/WbEp4Mun0uk
But other than that not much to report here.
Most days continue to involve working with limited funds, health, and energy.

Scanning Difficulties
General | Posted 11 years agoIn the past few months, the printer-scanner I have here has been creating some nasty problems with just about everything I use it for.
I am creating this journal to see if any here have encountered the same issue, and to see what they did to fix the problem.
Both the scanner and the printer do the basic tasks without much difficulty, but both have been leaving unsightly lines on everything.
For scanning. It seems like its either a paper problem, or the scanner adding lines where they are not wanted.
I have tried multiple times to get rid of these lines, but have yet to figure out how to successfully do it.
If you have noticed a decline in the quality of the colors or have noticed lines on my submissions, this is why.
For printing, there is a similar problem.
Unless I print using high quality, the printer puts bright lines through anything I print except linearts.
Using high quality uses a lot of ink, so I try to avoid using it, but in some cases, its the only way to avoid problems.
If anyone has suggestions of what I could do, it would be much appreciated.

A week of severe weather.
General | Posted 11 years agoIts been a while since I have seen a week where my location is in the slight risk area every day.
I like watching severe weather, but some of that fun goes away when it happens every day, and when its difficult to photograph anything.
Things are ok here, but in the areas around me there have been tornadoes, 80-100 mph winds, lightning caused fires, fairly serious flooding, and crop damage from the large hail.
We'll see what the next few days bring.
If I can safely photograph anything, I will try, but these high precipitation storms and night storms typically do not create the best results.

Storm Report for 6/14/2014
General | Posted 11 years agoDidn't really get a chance to see much here yesterday, as the storms here were mainly high precipitation cells, obscuring most of the interesting stuff from my location.
I did get a little marble size hail here, and heard about a few funnel clouds in the counties around me, but the big story yesterday was the flooding.
Some areas around here got 6 inches of rain, creating some rather nasty problems in some locations.
Luckily, I live on a hill, so no problems here, but other parts of the county weren't as lucky.
No photos this time though, there just wasn't really that much to see here.

Possible severe weather on Saturday.
General | Posted 11 years agoLooking at the convective outlook for Saturday, it looks like things could get interesting here.
They are mainly thinking this will be a hail and wind event, but there is a small possibility of a tornado.
If I see anything, I'll be sure to post a report and photos when I'm able to.

Spin Tires is coming out soon
General | Posted 11 years agohttp://store.steampowered.com/app/263280/
If you like truck driving games, I recommend this one.
I spent hours playing the demo last year, so it is nice to see this game be released.
The free tech demo is still around if anyone wants to try that before considering the full game.

Severe Weather 6/5/2014
General | Posted 11 years agoThings got a little crazy here with the weather today.
Things started getting interesting after a thunderstorm with a bunch of rain moved through at around 10:00am this morning.
It was not very hot here today, but the humidity was very thick after the heavy rain, and with the heating of the afternoon sun, conditions looked favorable for severe weather of some sort.
At around 2:00pm, a small cell developed to the northwest of the city, and rapidly intensified, creating a funnel cloud at about 2:15pm, prompting a tornado warning for the county.
At around 3:00pm, the tornado sirens started sounding here, as EMA was reporting funnel clouds and significant rotation west of town and by the airport.
Hail began to fall at about 3:15pm, and lasted about about 4:00pm. Hail ranged from pea size to slightly larger than quarter size at my location, with hail up to the size of golf ball in other areas.
No tornadoes were reported in the city or county, but there was one reported by firefighters in the county to the south of me.
I was watching from about 20-30 miles away, but could not see the tornado due it being obscured by heavy rain.
No damage or injuries at my location, but some vehicles in the area did have hail damage, and some roads had a little flooding due to the rain.
I took a bunch of photos this afternoon, and will likely being posting a few soon. (sorry, no funnels.)
Overall, an exciting day for weather.
