Posted 16 years agooi, this week's been a busy one! full-time hours at work, school on monday and wednesday, lots of awesome games being released...
Recently the games i've been playing have been in the 2D movement kind of vein, which is quite an awesome throwback. 'k, so this game isn't very new, but it was a favourite of mine from back in the PS1 days. Valkyrie Profile was one of those RPGs that i never finished due to my brother moving and taking the games with him, but my otter got me a copy for my birthday and i finally finished it the other night. So wonderful, that game...
Shadow Complex is way too much fun. Got completely immersed in it while waiting for the cubs to wake up on tuesday morning for their flight. And Muramasa? Oh my gawd, it's absolutely beautiful. The art, the controls, the story... everything about that game is top-notch, at least for all the things i like about videogames. This one covers practically all the bases (AND the Japanese dubbing is the default!). Too many good games comin' out now, but i guess it's not necessarily a bad thing. X3

our living room is cho-badass. super-awesome tv, two couches, the recliner, tall DVD shelves, art desk, giant 70's style speakers and a hand-carved coffee table (glass top to come soon). plus, the living room looks much wider than it did before. gotta give props to my neighbour for the second opinion on how to re-arrange all of our shit. X3
hung up the Goldie poster and a few more pieces of art to finally take up some of that blank space on the walls. definitely feels like our apartment now. :D

for once!
Posted 16 years agoan overcast day in SoCal, holy shit! just in time too since the box fan in the living room decided to self-destruct. at least it'll be around for spare parts, though.
so far job's been awesome, getting back into a line of strenuous work (with PT benefits) again is keeping me an active otter. at least now that i don't have to worry about finding a job, i can focus back on art projects 'n the like. got all the materials to make a new fursuit head, so maybe i'll be able to actually get started on putting him together today.
supposed to get a new TV today, but i haven't heard anything from zotter about the guy we're getting it from. i hope it's still available!

Posted 16 years agodunno what's come over me this last week, but i've been feeling 88% more ottery than usual... not that i'm complaining or anything, but i guess things have been going rather well when i'm in a more otter state of mind (i think reading Waterways the past week definitely contributed to said state though) :D :D :D
spent a good chunk yesterday with some new bookshelves and the re-arrangement of media, had a real nice chat with my lil' sis last night, got NoNaMe con this weekend, and also some great prospects looming in the horizon next week. content otter is content. :3

Feeling yourself disintegrate
Posted 16 years agoYeah, haven't been around too much lately. Securing this apartment (again), changes in arrangements in regards to living situation, waiting on a number of things... i don't think Buddha had to wait as long!
i thought i had a little bit of that drive to draw back earlier, but it seems to have fizzled out again. Who knows, maybe this coming weekend at Califur will be a catalyst for something creative. Hell, i'm not even too sure if i want to spend an extended period of time at the con; while i do think it'll be much much better than last year's Hyatt fiasco, i don't even know if i have to social capacity to hang out with anyone. Then again, that's just how i'm feeling today. Hopefully said circumstances won't be the case come this weekend.
Just suck it up, have some fun, and try not to smoke as many cigarettes this time.

made with real shepherds!
Posted 16 years agofuuuuuuck yeah that shepherd's pie is going to be BEAWESOME.
who wouldn't want a meat pie with roasted garlic mashed potato on top? also, yorkshire puddings for a nice roast. i've been craving British (and Commonwealth) food something fierce lately. which is very strange since i haven't even been to any Commonwealth countries, save for Canada though i haven't been there since i was but a wee pup at 8. more cooking projects GO!

man, i probably don't even know what i'm doing!
Posted 16 years agoso here's a rhetorical question for ya: what is art?
apparently i've been found out: i'm not making art at all! all the only thing i'm doing is scraping together a bunch of perceived lines and blotches of colour into some kind of form that tricks the viewer into thinking that whatever is shown is actually what it is!
but then there's the tricky part... what one calls art is purely subjective. looking up the entry in a dictionary, it is "the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance." i guess whatever i submit to this site is devoid of any of the above, and all i am is a robot tricking all of you.
it's not like i'm jaded or overly cynical about what i deem to be called "art", or what others believe what is art and what is not. it's kind of interesting to boil down one's views on the subject matter. hell, if you wanted to get into the most literal aspect, i'm just submitting a set of hexadecimal values placed in a certain order in a constrained size set by a series of ones and zeros. forget the human behind the scenes manipulating the tools necessary to create such works of "art". forget how much time said human commits into an "art" project, no matter how big or how small. forget the creative process said human goes through in that grey matter of a brain they have before any physical semblance of a piece of "art" exists.
whoops, i think i'm droning a little long here. perhaps that brain that i have does work, albeit in all the wrong ways. i'll still make these things (which are not art) because it's fun, and some people out there are able to enjoy it on a level all their own, no matter what kind of emotive response they may take from it.

sprite animation is FUNRYAAAAAA
Posted 16 years agoa small sampling of a project i'm working on is this current icon here.
any of y'guys remember the SWATKats game for SNES and how crappy it was? well, i'm starting work on an overhauling that'll hopefully be MUCH FUCKIN' BETTAR. Four types of gameplay, new storylines, improved graphics, the whole sh-bang. this project is going to take a hell of a while and i'll only get to work on little bits and pieces of it at a time, but one has to start somewhere!

Posted 16 years agoWell well well, another thousand mile trip come and gone! San Jose was awesome, even only being there for a full day. Worth it? Yes.
Still have to make a more dedicated trip up to the bay, at least a week or so of visit tiems. Good to see y'guys again :D

Posted 16 years agoCon was made of win with a side of awesome sauce. couldn't run into everyone i wanted to, but 'tis the nature of the convention! Thanks to everyone that made it so (now that i actually remembered shit from this year) :D
Good times were had indeed.
p.s.: anyone else having trouble uploading stuff? like getting directed to a blank page after trying to upload a piece of sorts? ne'ermind!

oh yeah, it's '09
Posted 16 years agowell shit, it's well past halfway into january and i haven't really been all that active online. finishing up three fursuits and a smattering of badges tends to eat up one's time, y'know.
and speaking of things that happen in january, FC is just right around the corner. yes, i be attending this year. hopefully i'll be able to remember a little more of this year's con experiences than last year's. i also expect to be fursuiting for a good portion of the con this time, so the dispensing of snugs 'n such shall commence!
also, the badge thing i'll be doing as usual.
$13 for inks and colours (all badges are 3"x4", if you want a larger size, we'll negotiate ;3)
$4 for the "Minute-Rice" badge. a 'convention only' tradition of sorts.
of course it's perfectly alright to waltz on up and say hi or the equivalent of a salutation to me, i won't bite (much). see y'guys there for those going!

Posted 17 years agoremember a fun little game on the PS called Ape Escape?
remember how badass of a soundtrack it has?
the quirky drum'n'bass is still good as ever. :3
check it: gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/1013
Snowy Mammoth, Frosty Retreat, Cave Area and GALAXY MONKEY are my favourites, but each track is awesome in its own way. take a listen, damnit! X3

resurgence
Posted 17 years agoapparently there's been a fire since about this morning in Brea and Yorba Linda. Parts of it hopscotched into Anaheim Hills... and it's already crossed 91 east of where i worked. i hope it doesn't blow anymore southbound 'cause last i heard there's another small fire where 55 intersects with 91, and that's just a mile away damnit!
hohhhhhkay
Posted 17 years agothat wind is really blowin' tonight! Tis the season for high winds, dry-ass weather and raging wild fires! WOO-HOO.
*wipes some sarcasm off of the woo-hoo*

Man,
Posted 17 years agoi don't even know where to start...
it's nothing bad, just been pretty damn occupied the past couple months. some developments here an' there, new job's been put on the back burner for now, new living arrangements is becoming a possibility (but at a sketch phase presently), and school is coming up pretty damn soon. gots to get that together so i can actually return into classes this coming september.
yeah, i can't wait. bring it, biznatches!

brush tips are made of win. seriously.
Posted 17 years agoi have found meself something new to lust over, and those are COPIC markers. yeah yeah, i was breaking in
zotter's gigantor set of them he just acquired recently and was instantly hooked. <3 <3 <3
like they say, the first hit is free!
oh yeah, and there was a convention last weekend, huh? nice to see y'guys out there. would've been 3164x better if the hotel wasn't one pandering to millionaires, debutantes and bored meth-addled rich housewives. a con of this ilk just doesn't feel right at all in such a setting, especially with the bang-up partition job they did of the con space and the rest of the hotel. bastids. fortunately the party was quite a hit on saturday night! another one come and gone in a blink of an eye. and i was even more conscious this time around, damnit!

crunching of teh datas
Posted 17 years agowell, i got meself a new job crunching data! pays a lot better than the 'port and i even get fulltime! don't even have to request time off for Califur since it's on a weekend and i get weekends off! it'll feel so strange actually having saturdays and sundays again. the only downside is that it's mornings again, and the schedule makes it opposite from zotter's. SAD FACE. we'll manage, though.
yeesh, i needs to be producing more with the arts! methinks returning to dutiful employment makes the mind a bit more stable, yes. gotta keep on truckin'!

aw shit, i think i used 'hoogah' twice!
Posted 17 years agoso i come to find out that page three of the badger comic is currently featured on Pure Filth's web site. FUCK YEAH.
speaking of the comic, i kinna ran into a snag the past couple weeks, involving Hot Shots Golf 5 (damn them for making a golf game FUN!) and technically being laid off from the airport because of Aloha Airlines going out of business. however, i do have an interview lined up tomorrow at a data entry job which pays assloads better than the 'port, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one.
page six is in the works as i type this and it's already inked. i'll go ahead and post the next couple of pages in quick succession to make up for my slacking on that end. thanks for being patient, and also reading the silly little comics that mah zombified one and i whip up. :D
in other news, my ol' buddy from up north (known that fucker for 20 years now, he's essentially a brother to me) is moving down here for school later this year. much much rawkage!

shedding
Posted 17 years agoyeah, bits of fur everywhere. i STILL gotta hit up the fabric district in L.A. soon. those otterpaws are just beggin' to be furred! :3 sure, the deadline for this new suit isn't until Califur... but then again, two months can zip on by like the unusual speed of a fanboy upon hearing about the latest piece on sale from his favourite incredibly talented (yet over-zealously assholish) artist he's putting on the pedestal this week!
