And then last night IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT they reissue the charge for the original room. So now we're overdrawn by like $150. >\ That was out fecking AC budget, you jackasses. Give it the fuck back, NOW. WE LEAVE TOMORROW. This is NOT COOL, Priceline. NOT COOL AT ALL.

Feather Paintings, ACEOs, Sculptures and Jewelry

I will paint feathers, very gladly! Only thing is - I have to buy the feathers as-needed.
Because of this, these will take time.
Basically, you tell me what kind of feather you'd like me to use (LEGAL feathers only! No hawks, eagles, or owls, or any non-game, non-farm, non-pet bird!), and what you'd like painted on it. Right now, I request only simple paintings.
These will be priced depending on what you want. The feather price is the base price here. Whatever I have to pay to get the feather to me, that price is passed on to you. Adding to the base price is the time for me to paint what you want on it. I'd request $8/active hour. The simple print I have on my page is a little over an hours' worth of work. Chicken feathers come cheap, so I'd probably charge $10 plus shipping. Something that needs more of a large broad turkey feather, I could probably a single large feather for $8-$15 shipped (depending on size), so that's your base price for that.
Obviously, if you can provide the feather (again, I must stress, LEGAL feathers ONLY! If you have paperwork for the feather and it's a raptor or other illegal bird, stating that you can have it legally, ship. it. with. the. feather.)

These, I would like to charge for active time spent on the card. $8/active hour, then add shipping. The Kitsune in my gallery (WHO IS FOR SALE! $25, FREE SHIPPING!) took me around four hours of active working. Something like the Kitsune that takes me around four hours, would cost you $32 + shipping.
Remember - when looking at these prices, this accounts for my time and effort, as well as you getting the original image, and there never being any copies of this other than my posting as an example of my work. No one else will ever own this! Also, this is PAINT. Not crayon, not colored pencil, not even marker, but PAINT.
Sculptures:
I rarely do sculptures. Like, seriously. They take too long to make, and are a pain to paint and take forever to bake. They require a lot of effort.
Sculptures will only be open at a one-at-a-time basis. They are currently not open, but the base price for a sculpture would be $20. Depending on character complexity and pose, the price will go up. Shipping is extra on this as well.
Jewelry:
I'll happily make jewelry for you guys! I currently make bracelets and necklaces. These come with a hand-sculpted and painted charm. I can mostly do tails, but I can do paws and ears and other such nonsense. :P These will also be adorned with beads, mostly glass and hand-made sculpted beads.
Base price for a custom necklace is $15. If you have an intricate design you want, such as say a long snake charm with a specific pattern, that will obviously cost more. A basic husky, fox, wolf, or cat (big cat or small cat species) tail will start at just the base price. If you want say a bajillion beads and a two foot diameter necklace... well, that's going to cost more as well.
Extras will be priced upon request. :P
Bracelets are a different beast altogether. Base price of $10, add $1 per inch of wrist the beads will cover. Again, with hand sculpted charm, hand painted, and adorned with glass beads.

Posted 14 years agoWell, to top off all the cruddy news today, I forgot to put on my paypal that I live in a specific apartment. >8C So now all my packages that I've ordered are HOPEFULLY at the office, and I'll be able to pick them up. They might let me just pick them up at the office by myself, but they'll probably be butts about it and demand I have a registered tenant with me.
Any advice about ex-employers not sending final checks/W2s?

I left my work in November of last year because I had moved. All seemed good, right? Well, around January, I called to make sure they had my new address, so they could send my W2s and my final check.
They claimed they no longer had my W2 from 2009-2010.. which I find suspicious, since they are legally required to keep records of those for, I think, three to five years. They claimed that they don't keep them past the tax season they're for...
So, whatever, I only worked like two months that year anyway.
So, I eventually get my W2 from last year, so no problem, right? Until the roommate in the apartment moves away, and we clean up what's left, and my W2 is gone.
No problem, no problem. I call my employer up, because I still hadn't gotten my check, and request the replacement W2 and find out about the check.
They claim they mailed the check and it had been cashed. I told them that I hadn't gotten it, so it wasn't me.
So, they threaten to take off fees for cancelling that check, fees for printing a new one, fees for mailing, etc.
So I think, whatever. I explain that I need my replacement W2, and they start going on about how busy they are and how they "don't know when they can get it to me". What-evs, I'll wait. This is all in February.
March flies through, I'm calling every couple weeks to check up. I request they mail this check registered mail, and they -agree- to do so, at my expense. I'm like, sure. You're already taking money out for this other ridiculous shit anyway.
April comes, and around April 1st, I realize it probably won't be there by the time taxes come around, so I file for an extension. Fucking lucky choice, that was. It never came.
Now here I am, mid-MAY, after calling every other week to check, and I finally got off the phone with the owner of the place I worked.
He claims to have mailed my check and W2, again.
I haven't seen hide nor hair of it.
I ask if he mailed it Registered mail, like I'd requested....
No. No, he hadn't. Because it was "too expensive" and he "wasn't going to pay it."
FUCK. FUCK FUCK FUCKITTY FUCKFUCKFUCK.
I'm not even sure he sent anything in the first place now. >:/
What do I do from here? I just tried calling the Department of Labor, but they're not answering.

Posted 14 years agoSo, starting off, I have put in an application to get a banner ad for FA. It's not the greatest ad ever, and it's been pointed out that I forgot to include my name in it, but I figure this can be a trial run for it. If it gets more people paying attention, then so be it :P
$20 for one month. This means I only have to do 10 quick sketches at the $2 each prices to repay that, and the rest goes towards my convention savings.
Speaking of conventions, I'm planning on going to AnthroCon. Well. Not just planning, I'm sure I'm going because of the sheer convenience of being able to just drive there if I can't afford the hotel. So, if you're gonna be there, keep an eye out for me! I'm going to be trying to get into the Artists' Alley! :3 If I can't, then I'll be hanging out in the Zoo working on some other stuff, so you can just stop by and say 'Hi!' if you see the girl with the fox on her head.
Speaking of heads, this whole banner thing is (hopefully) going to have me swamped with commissions. I'm going to edit my profile to list the prices I currently have, so if you're interested, or know someone who might be, check it out!

Commissions opening!
Posted 15 years agoSo... having to get rid of my old car and move on to something smaller is going to be taking up most of my paycheck, whereas the rest is going to be going towards keeping that car running. Then there's a little extra surprise - I'm planning on going overseas for a trip to visit my dear 
Jacel and the lovely Terrana. The plane ticket's already taken care of, but I've still got to get my passport, which means - I have to whore myself out for the money for that!
I've got this one more commission to finish, and then I'll be free to take up more commissions.
However, this will be a bit more... constructed than it has been before.
Five slots open at any one time. Once one slot is finished, another will open. The first five commissioners will also get a bonus sketch from the lovely Jacel!

So I lost all my work on a very large piece.

Posted 15 years agoI have three pieces I'm working on right now. Or, at least, I WOULD be working on if I could even do so.
See, after a lot of trouble with internet access, I moved the laptop to a slightly different location. This was over two weeks ago, and ever since, I've been completely unable to find my tablet pen.
I only have ONE of them. I've ordered another one and also ordered a new sheet to go over my tablet's surface because the one I have is two years old and severely scratched, which majorly messes with the quality of the work by giving little jagged lines.
Another thing I'd like to note is that I now have a RL job, and therefore less time to actually work on the commissions without ending up way too tired to actually DO said job.
If you would like a refund, please message me on here, and we can work something out. I have a list of what you all paid, so don't try and dupe me :P (not that I think you will!)
Due to said job only paying every two weeks, and due to my car being a POS and needing to be entirely replaced, it may take a few weeks to get you your refund, but I'm willing to give the refund in full and still get you your artwork.

All those sketches I uploaded? They were taken and are now being plastered all over various petsites, for sale for even real life money, with either the excuse that they drew it (for sites that don't allow reselling) or claims that I GAVE THEM PERMISSION TO SELL THEM.
I laugh.
And start to submit reports.
Yay for idiots who actually tell my FRIENDS that I said it was OK.
Background: I sold ONE sketch to this person, and linked them to the sketch. They then took all of the sketches I had done and started selling them on other sites. When I sold the sketch, I had no problem with them reselling as long as they adapted the artwork by adding lineart, coloring etc. and gave me credit...
I DO have all this documented. So it's just a matter of finding all the artwork.

Posted 16 years agoI learned a lesson today. The Sunday-Afternoon church crowd doesn't tip.. ever.. And leaves one hell of a mess for me to clean up.
There should be an automatic gratuity charge for parties of over 10 people. Especially if six to eight are kids, who don't know how to clean up after themselves and the adults won't do it either.
Oh, and little kid, screaming "THERES NO ICE IN THE MACHINE THERE IS NO ICE THERE IS NO ICE! ICE ICE ICE ICE ICE!!!" while I'm in the middle of taking an order from someone is NOT going to get you your ice any faster. If you hadn't pressed the damned lever down and let it all come out of the machine, there would BE ice and I wouldn't have to clean it up.
ARGH.
That being said... I still like my job.
