Hey guys, been a while! Thought I'd make a general query for all you people that make visual artwork with digital media:

How do you generally start a piece? Get an idea, hear a bit of music, or other forms of inspiration? Or do you just set down with a blank canvas and go? What size canvas do you normally use? Inquiring minds want to know!

For me, I'll usually just set down with a cup of coffee, some music going, and away I go. I don't usually know what I want to draw until I'm just about done with the sketching. canvas size? uuuuusually 3k x 2k, then I'll crop it down to where it looks better composed with what I drew.

I hope you get to go to a con this weekend, too! If you and I are going to the same con, huzzah! We should, ya know, hang out n stuff!

What a coincidence, I am going to the Youmacons, too! I've got 4 roles this year...

Man, last week was anthrocon, and this weekend was Ikasucon for me. Had a lot of fun DJing at both cons, but now I'm all wore out lol. But now, finally back to a normal(ish) work schedule again. Great to see all of my friends again, and I miss everybody already!

Tis that time of year folks, and yeah I'll be there for sure! Gonna be suiting a lot, and stuff! I may even bring both suits... not sure yet though... the ronso is definitely coming!

This year, look for me up on Anthrocon's main stage on Thursday (july 4th) at 10pm local time. I know that's fireworks time... but I have some really great tunes that are gonna be booming out of the main ballroom, don't miss out! In fact, you'll probably want to keep poking your head in that main events room whenever there is a dance going on... I've seen the DJ line up and I don't think there will ever be a sour note coming from in there!

Saturday night will see me over with  oztigah84 helping set the mood for his party with some muuuuuusic. Should be lots of fun over there with lots of furries and good drinks all around! Actually... I think  Draconum is playing there, too?? right? I think so...

This seems to be the year of new things for me, so hang onto your hats! or at least... I will, and ya'll can watch me flail as I try to keep up, hah.

So a few months ago, I was asked to be the DJ Coordinator for Youmacon2013. I was flattered! and accepted the duty! I have a lot of really cool ideas for the show, but it does feel a little overwhelming planning for a show of that size... even if it is quite a few months out. I know I have the tools and skills to make it happen, but I get that nervous/excited feeling!

And theeeeeeen,
sitting in on closing ceremonies for FCN2013 and mr  oddy announces to the whole room that I would be handling the DJ coordinating for FCN2014! I can't remember if we had talked about it in the past, but if not, I had forgotten... but either way, a super happy surprise! Again, butterflies/nervous/excited all at the same time!

So, yay! New things!

It was a crazy weekend at FCN 2013, and I had a ton of fun. This journal was delayed due to utter exhaustion lol, as soon as I got home on Monday... it was right to bed for me. It was good seeing familiar faces, and meeting new people was tons of fun too.

Next con for me is going to be ACEN in about a month... then, I'll see everyone at AC!

This time of year is always so busy, and life really has a way of catching up with you rather quickly. I've been in go mode since about thanksgiving and haven't really stopped until just now. Though, its not really stopped of my own accord... I was supposed to drive home to see my parents today (4 hour drive) after work, but as I drove into work... I got a flat tire. Got to work just fine, and tried a few things while at work to make it all better, but things just were not pulling together to get me up to my parents' house. I've always been able to drive home for my family christmas every year, so this is really foreign for me to not be with them and I was feeling very sad.

Though, after everything was done today, I was really able to sit back and think about everything that's been going on this past month or so and find comfort in everything that I did do. I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my roommates here at the house, had a wonderful holiday celebration with my roommates a few weeks ago, got to do a little bit of travel this season (which I thought was going to be impossible), spent many hours hanging out with close friends, and just generally had a very productive month. Plus, I have a lot to look forward to as well what with more holidays rolling in quickly and more opportunities to be with friends and family both.

So I say to you all, don't let the little things get in the way of really enjoying this holiday season.

Man, sometimes when life hits ya, it hits ya hard.

This week... my brother in law passed away from a motorcycle accident. He was 32, and wearing a helmet. The day I got home from the funeral, the house got broken into... bunch of stuff stolen while we were all asleep. Then the following day, I come down with the flu.

It would seem as though things can only get better from here!

Because at 3am EST (Midnight PDT) I sure as hell will be playing my copy of Diablo 3. SO FUCKING EXCITE.

My finger is indeed broken. Had an x-ray done to confirm. The bad news is that its gonna take prolly a month or so to heal up. The good news is that it doesn't really hurt now... they drilled a lil hole in my nail to relieve pressure. Was initially painful... but it feels sooooooo much better now. plus doc's finger brace was far superior to my own makeshift one.

Typing is still a bitch, but I'm learning how to deal with it.

it hurts, slammed my right index finger in my car door and it latched. Gonna get it checked out either tonight or tomorrow it see if it was damaged like I thin it was. Either way, expect minimal online presence from me for a while... typing is a bitch XD

Even though I really didn't want to. I had one of the best con experiences at FCN that I've had in a very, very long time. Here are a few things that made it awesome:

Is what my managers at work told me today in an attempt to get me to cut it shorter (or their preference, shave it off). Yes, I repeat, a "safety hazard." I work part time at a grocery store as a cashier for those of you who do not know... so now... think of how this might be a safety hazard for me.

There were 3 reasons why my bosses said this.

1) it might catch on fire.

2) it might get caught in the conveyor belt that moves the groceries closer to me so I can scan them.

3) it might get caught in the wheel of a shopping cart.


I... don't... erm...

Actually lemme start over,

If my head is close enough to a random open flame (p.s. I don't smoke), I'm fairly sure that scorching my beard is going to be the last thing on my mind. As for getting my beard stuck in the conveyor belt, I told them that I would let them know the next time I would be nuzzling the belt so that they could monitor me to make sure I'm not putting my beard anywhere where it will get stuck. Also, I had also asked them about other employees with long hair if they would be asked to cut their hair to avoid it getting stuck in the conveyor belt... they could not answer me. And that last topic... I could only laugh. Their worry would be that I was laying on the ground and a cart would run my beard over and get stuck in a wheel. Please, conjure up a mental image of that scenario. Now, is your first thought "His goatee is too long" or "Why on earth is that man laying on the ground?"

Also keep in mind, this is a fairly large company... I've been working there for over 4 years now... and the store director continues to focus on myself and other other coworker of mine about the length of our facial hair. The best part is that she's gone through and highlighted the part in our uniform and dress code book that relates to facial hair, and it only says that it must be trimmed "close to the face." Hurray for vagueness and no definitive answer! Yet I continue to wear cargo khakis every day into work where the same book that she's reading from clearly says "no cargos," and she has never said a word to me about that. Honestly, I'm not even upset at this situation at present. I'm finding it not only humorous, but sad as well that a team of managers looking after a multi-billion dollar company are this focused on the appearance of 2 employees. Way to properly manage resources guys.

Anyway, that seems like a bit of a vent, but this situation was just too good to not share.

I picked up my college degree a few weeks ago... but I just got another one in the mail today. It was addressed to me, so I figured it was a duplicate or something crazy like that.

Well, it wasn't. It's somebody else's.

And that just filled my head with all sorts of dastardly things to do with this expensive little sheet of paper. However, I want your opinion as well... what sorts of evil things can you guys think of to do with it? >:3
