Four Days to a Decade
Posted 5 years agoYup, been on this site for almost ten solid years.
Anyway, you can still find me on InkBunny, itch.io, Slime Salad, and YouTube for the time being. Will I be banned for speaking truth to power, or will it be decided that "looking the other way" and thus pretending I'm paranoid is more convenient for the time being?
Whatever the case, I refuse to bend the knee to those who demand my respect and do nothing to earn it. The more you push, the harder I resist.

100% Valid Election
Posted 5 years agoNo voter fraud here
Nope, Michigan just narrowly chose Biden over Trump
I mean, it's not like having a dictator of a governor telling us how far we have to sit from each other at restaurants, expecting us to eat through masks that restrict breathing, and throws a tantrum when she's not allowed to cut in line to throw a party would make people in some way resent her party, nope, blue landslide here
And how convenient that at 4 AM we got this huge batch of mail-in votes, over 13,000 of them, and not a single one for a Green, Libertarian, or write-in throwaway joke like Mickey Mouse or Lisa Simpson
Yup, Biden got all 138,000 of those mail-in votes legitimately with absolutely no cheating
Oh, and we can't forget: Pets and the deceased need their voices heard too! How convenient that from beyond the grave everyone decides Democrats were right all along regardless of their voting history in life.
Those Republicans though? I'm absolutely certain they're up to something...they must be really sneaky since we haven't caught them red handed since 1960. It can't possibly be that a movement founded on the idea that the ends justify the means if the ends are towards seizing the means will produce people innately more willing to behave in an underhanded manner than a movement founded on maximizing personal responsibility at the cost of increasing personal risk.
I mean, we spent three years trying to prove Trump had colluded with Russian hackers to steal the 2016 election and impeached him over it. The fact that no concrete evidence was ever found only further proves how crafty and clever he is at hiding his tracks!
Oh and by the way guys, did you know that black lives matter? I mean, it's current year and all, I'm sure some of you have forgotten. Black lives matter, but black people are only ever allowed to vote Democrat; not only are you a race traitor if you vote for Lincoln's party, you aren't even black anymore! Thus your life doesn't matter anymore and it's okay for the mob to beat you to death and torch your place of business. Actually who cares how you vote or if you support Black Lives Matter and AntiFa; let's just beat you to death, loot your store, and set your building on fire anyway. I mean c'mon man, it's only common sense!

I'm considering Patreon
Posted 5 years agoEver since I left the fast food kitchen I've been feeling better and throwing myself into my real passion for making games.
The last few have been pretty well-received so I've been leaning more and more towards taking my girlfriend's advice and opening up a Patreon for those interested in the furtherance of my art to support me financially.
The only paid patron rewards I can think of would be to let people of certain pay tiers request me to draw specific types of sprites (a certain quota of monster/attack animation/weapon/map graphic/hero battle animation sets per month) and weigh the advice/requests of all paying customers a little more than suggestions from anyone else (like keeping up a database of item/spell/monster names, appearances, and gimmicks suggested by patrons and putting the names of anyone whose ideas I used in the credits).
One big problem with Patreon, though, is how vulnerable it makes creators to mass flagging attacks based on "wrong" things they say or believe outside the site itself and I as it happens believe many things the political establishment doesn't want people to believe, and I would not compromise or apologize even if that worked (it never does; look at literally anyone who "apologized" after getting "canceled" and harassed by the Twitterati; they remained canceled afterward because evil doesn't care about people, only about power with which to further its own agenda).

2020 interface update
Posted 6 years agoAnd despite the site suddenly looking like other modern furry sites instead of something out of 2003, I still can't rearrange my folders in a comprehensive way. This stands out the most in my art-by-year folder category: I barely managed to get the 2010 and old art one to the top, 2020 is at the bottom, everything in between is...difficult.
Also there's no clear and easy way to say "I want to look at more of this person's gallery" on a submission anymore.
And no easy "previous submission" and "next submission" buttons either, or at least none I can find.
You know what? I didn't really like the last major interface overhaul either; I remember when it was a beta, and then suddenly forced onto me. And just like YouTube, by the time I get used to this change the rug is going to get pulled out from under me _again_ . That is, of course, if I don't get myself banned for wrongthink first.

OHRodents: A Micro RPG
Posted 6 years agohttps://www.slimesalad.com/forum/vi.....e.php?p=135094
I spent all of March working on this game, and a little of February planning it out and drawing graphics.
On March 31 the initial release came out, then on April 1st I released a minor balance patch.
Game's features:
* 10 playable mice, 3 rats, and 2 hamsters for a total of 15 heroes. These characters are taken from the history of the Official Hamster Republic Role-Playing Game Construction engine, in which this game, ARFENHOUSE!!!, Megaman Sprite Game, and
fenrir-lunaris's games Vikings of Midgard, Lustyrinth, War on Xmas, Spooks and Summons, Final Fantasy H, and Timestream Saga were made.
* 9 edible food items, 5 of which also buff a stat when eaten in battle. These buffs stack, so stockpiling and using them up in the big boss fights is highly effective.
* 6 spellbooks to teach your rodent heroes spells they won't learn from leveling up.
* 15 weapons to equip. I was going to also have armor but I had to scrap that feature for the sake of time.
* 3 attack items used from the Items menu in battle: Consumable matches and toothpicks and the reusable lighter.
Changelog as of April 1, 2019:
* Shifted some elemental weaknesses and resistances for both heroes and monsters.
* Added three consumable save points because asking the player to survive all the way to the basement without any chance at an inn or save point with a missable hero along the way was a bit too harsh.
* Doubled the accuracy bonus from eating carrots.
* Dropped the price of pickles to 1 cent from the original 5, since there's literally only a single fight where they can be useful.
* Added some text to explicitly point out that Grape has the skill to deal with mousetraps.
* Instead of being a total crapshoot fight, getting Dr. Mouse is a lot easier as he's immune to the Lab Rats' special attacks and his Blaz spell will kill them all in one hit rather than two now.
* Reduced MP cost for several spells, particularly Storm and several of Nathan's attack spells.

VENT: Awful Day at Work 7-6-18
Posted 7 years agoTonight's been absolutely miserable.
I work in a fast food kitchen. I'm the best cook in the store (and yes, this includes the managers - one or two of them can match me in fry cookery, but none are better than I am at that part of the job). This week I've been extremely sick - diarrhea starting on Tuesday evening, sore throat starting last night, probably a fever though I can't exactly check reliably, and to top it all off today that clear runny liquid kind of snot was pouring out my nose (always onto the floor, luckily, so I never had to throw out any of the food I was making).
Today our second-best cook (not counting the few managers that can cook - more like fourth or fifth best if you count managers) had to quit on us for "family issues" that required him to suddenly move out of town without notice. So the store manager didn't send me home right away. Not long after I received this news, I accidentally cut my left thumb with the box knife and there were no bandages in the office for some reason.
Three of the four managers were working on this shift; one was supposed to be in the kitchen but he'd been instructed to "bounce back" and help up front sometimes. This meant, to the assistant manager in particular, that he should never help in the kitchen and always be up front helping with drinks and desserts. Said assistant manager is the most unpleasant person I have ever had to deal with in my life, and I had to work a closing shift with her twice already this week and twice last week as well.
I was doing a very valiant job, in my physically broken state of health, to keep cooking the food at a good clip compared to the four people in the front of the house who were taking orders. Most of them were not bothering to call out any of the items we drop to order, but I'm more or less used to that form of incompetence. Since I can't wash anything with my thumb cut open and bleeding, I was having the kitchen trainee in back washing dishes so we wouldn't have to be in there doing that until 2 AM tonight.
Eventually, after I had a screen with six or seven orders on it, the assistant manager started bitching at me about not having the bacon warm enough. She's an absolute control freak and a micro-manager who constantly makes everyone miserable, oftentimes acting like her own personal preferences are actual rules. I explained to her that the smaller pan we usually move bacon into to warm it up was already sent back to be cleaned, as it usually is at this time of night, and she just reiterated that the bacon had to be warmer.
I decided that I'd had enough and just got off the clock and went home. I said I didn't even care if I get a write-up, which I kinda do since I'm a near-flawless employee, but this bitchy badger (sorry for insulting two beautiful animals by comparison) has always strained my nerves and tonight it was just a step too far. Had I not been both miserably ill and physically injured, I'd just have put up with her for the sake of everyone else I work with.
I hate to think that I might lose this job, a job which I love, but most likely I'm just going to get a stern talking to. However, while I might apologize to the store manager for acting out I will never apologize to this assistant manager.

A month without the Internet
Posted 8 years agoIt was a rough time. I'm actually using the old PC that I had when I lived with my parents - all the newer tech I've bought in the past six years has died on me. This one's on its way out, acting a bit strange (and let's face it, it was always Vista) but it's still running.
Getting my modem in the first place was insanely difficult - East Beltline Avenue is a very long street with a 0 point and addresses with the same numbers on both sides of it, and nobody could give me competent directions to the place I was trying to get. Three or four buses touch edges of the street at some point, but only one is marked as doing so on the map at Central Station. So I got to one bus stop and walked eight miles...to find another bus actually stops about a quarter of a mile from the place I needed to get.
Then once I had my modem, I had three days of trouble getting the Internet to run even still...because none of the jacks in my bedroom actually work, but the first one I tried out in the livingroom does. This significantly changes how I'm going to have everything set up, but I guess the livingroom serves a purpose now instead of just being wasted space..
And now that I've been away for so long, I can't login to Gmail or Hotmail because I don't have the passwords, and they are mutually each others' password recovery emails. I may need to go get a third free email just to open up my two existing email accounts! This is part of why I hate the instructions to give different sites different passwords and mix up the cases and numbers. Heck, there are some websites where I just go to my email and copy/paste the jumble of characters it gave me from my last password reset...can't get on any of those sites again yet!

Posted 8 years agoThe last three fortune cookies I've gotten, in order:
º YOU WILL RECEIVE A GREAT HONOR WITHIN THE COMING YEAR
º NOW IS TIME FOR THE FUN PART OF THE RELATIONSHIP TO BEGIN
º YOU WILL RECEIVE AN UNEXPECTED GIFT FROM AN ACQUAINTANCE
Now, I'm not one to actually take vague predictions hidden in my desserts seriously (it makes even less sense than finding the jokes on Laffy Taffy wrappers funny) but as fate would have it, the third one came true within hours.
I was at the laundromat wearing my pink mouse ears, then an older woman complimented me on them, introduced herself as Tammy, and gave me a can of Mountain Dew. The fact that I'd already disregarded the idea of the cookie predicting the future made this gift quite unexpected!
So that first fortune has all of 2018 to come true, and the second if it ever does come true will be the culmination of all I desire out of life...
...That is, if these things actually did predict the future through anything other than vagueness and coincidence.

Posted 8 years agoWhile I was waiting for the bus to take me to work, some dickweed drove onto the sidewalk in order to pass the two cars in front of him on the right-hand side instead of waiting one minute for the light to change. I moved out of his way because I don't have a deathwish, and even so I simewhat regret not standing up to him and his reckless, selfish antics. How do people like this even get licenses?

Over the past few years, I've been making a mistake
Posted 9 years agoI used to be extremely discriminating in terms of whether or not I'd watch an artist, but throughout 2014-2016 I picked up the habit of clicking +Watch on all sorts of galleries I wasn't really all that deeply interested in, or was strongly interested in for the wrong reasons.
See one or two vore or macro pics I liked? I'd watch the gallery even if those were unusual commissions out of the hundreds the person drew.
See a nice tasteful picture of a lady furry I thought looked nice? Watch the gallery even when the artist continues uploading hundreds of samey ones of the same expression and pose time and again. Same deal with cute chibis when I was in the mood for cutesy.
Find an effectively dead account from five years ago that belongs to someone who used to make a lot of content I like? Watch in the hopes that he comes back and uploads more again.
See someone with an OC waifu or fursona similar to my girlfriend of the time? Watch, and imagine her by proxy on all the art of that character to come out.
Someone draws one of my favorite species, like a rat or a mink? Watch. Even if it's only once.
Someone I know/watch already commissions high-quality art of his character? I watch the artist, even if nobody else is commissioning him on a similar theme.
I kept coming back to FurAffinity after days or weeks away, buried in an inbox of thousands of drawings or dozens of identical-looking journals. I can only respond to so many raffles, so many streams, so many Happy New Years or Merry Christmases, so many "NEED HELP, SEND MONEY"s, et cetera.
Nuking the art was simply never an option for me. That completely undoes the whole point of watching artists in the first place! I needed to make sure I at least saw the thumbnails, and at a certain point it started being a chore to look through my art inbox rather than a pleasure. To delete dozens or hundreds of pictures I had no interest in, no more than one page at a time. I stopped or at least slowed down on my old style of going to the Browse tab and selecting species or themes I like - of which there are certainly a lot more than just macro/micro and vore!
So today I went and cleared out my subscriptions. I kept the following:
- Anyone I consider a friend.
- Anyone I know from another community, even if we don't interact much here (Pilli10 from YouTube Poop, notveryathletic from Talkhaus, Spazman from Slime Salad), or even much over there for that matter.
- Anyone I can remember having an engaging conversation with.
- Anyone who ever drew anything for me, whether commissioned, as a free raffle prize, as a request, or as a spontaneous gift.
- Anyone I drew anything for and happened to be watching. This is the reason for the strange flood of gift art in the last quarter of 2016, I've been thinking of doing this since early April or so.
- Anyone I was super double ultra sure I wanted to continue watching on this site due to style or content type.
- And one person who recently put out a journal being sad about losing watchers over reposting old art, which I for one loved seeing. It might not always show, but I do care about sparing peoples' feelings.
I went down from around 800 to less than 200, partly by deleting all deactivated or blanked accounts on principle.
I might re-watch some of these people some day, but if I do it's going to be for different reasons - the most likely is if we wind up becoming friends to some degree. Clearing out the cruft will make it easier for me to reach out in conversation.
Pretty soon I'm going to be adding new watches to my watchlist, as well. Going through those who are currently watching me and seeing what they're up to. Going through the artists who gave me stuff and didn't ask for a watch in return and seeing if I like what they've been putting out. Maybe even just checking some of my highly favorited art and seeing if there's anyone out there who likes some of what I do, but not enough to watch my page.
Happy 2017, everyone!

Some Minor Cleanup
Posted 9 years agoI moved most of the stuff featuring my ex-lovers to Scraps, even the high quality stuff. I also shuffled some stuff around and reduced the number of nearly-unused gallery folders:
* consolidated the fursonas group from five to three folders
* consolidated all the minor game fandom folders into one
* consolidated all my game project folders into one
* added a new location-type folder that was sorely missing
* added a new folder for 2017
On the downside, FA won't let me rearrange the order of any of these folders in a way that looks nice.
