Posted 13 years agoI am pissed. The Unemployment office is now officially fucking with me. Tried to claim my bi-weekly benefits online and they're denying me the ability to claim because my unemployment benefits run out April 3rd. It's April 1st and I just started on Tier 2 of my unemployment benefits this month with 3 grand left in benefits for this tier. There are also 4 tiers of unemployment and assuming they don't nix it down I should have Tiers 3 & 4 available to me still giving me a total of 6 months of unemployment to look for work when combined with the remaining time on Tier 2. As a backup I tried to phone in my claim in case its a glitch in their online claiming system which they just upgraded recently. The phone system acknowledged that I had 2 weeks to claim and denied my ability to claim them after taking all my information. Now tomorrow I got to call up the office and find out what is going on and I got a feeling they're going to give me the run around and make appointments for me to come in weeks from now.
TL:DR: Unemployment fucked up and I gotta fight with them to fix things. Don't expect to see me at any gatherings for some time till I can manage to find work or get this straightened out.

Weather and daylight permitting we may try to get a field day type station up or work a satellite that day as well. Government Employment..
Posted 14 years agoLooks like I'll be getting a government job soon and by job I mean unemployment. For anyone who doesn't know educators are hurting in the budget department. Recently control over the Virtual Worlds project was shifted over from one VP to another and this other VP has pretty much no budget for his projects to my understanding. Combine that with we were being fought with over purchases and which accounts were to be used for the Rutgers Day event we pretty much have no budget left. Between me and our new hire Matt, I was paid the most so I had to be let go. Tomorrow is my official last day at Rutgers. I will be pretty much just be double checking I have everything, everything else was turned in, make sure all personal files are wiped, and be saying my good byes. It was a great job and I left a pretty big impression on the university with our Virtual Worlds project. Thankfully I've been promised a Letter of Recommendation to help me with my job search.
Right now I have mixed feelings. Am I upset? Yes, I loved my job and felt I was making a difference to the world in my own way. But at the same time I'm not that upset because this might be a sign to move on. I've always said there were two things holding me back from moving out of NJ: 1) my grandmother and 2) my job. My grandmother has always been telling me not to let her hold me back by worrying about her and now I no longer have that dream job. Maybe its time to start looking outside of NJ for work and a place to live. I have one possible prospect, my Uncle Lenny down in Texas has offered to me in the past to move in with him and help me to get a job down there. If I don't find work in a year I might fall back on that offer if its still valid. In the mean time anyone care to share what the job market is like in PA or DE?

To Artists and those who know them...

I'm used to going to cons and having it drawn with the original delivered during the con. I do understand physical originals would probably not exist with most commissions ordered online these days and the closest thing would be the high quality photoshop (or gimp) files the artist was working with. The reason I would want the PSD file is so when I print it up a commission for framing or in this case for distributing to other artists for commission work there wouldn't be any blurriness, pixelation, or other artifacts from sizing the image to fit the print.

World of Warcraft realizations...
Posted 17 years agoI created a Death Knight recycling the name of my first WoW character I haven't played in forever. Felt it was fitting like she (yes she, most male characters in WoW are knuckle draggers and that throws me off) became epic and became a fallen hero or something like that. But anyways Vellata is now a Death Knight and I picked up the new Inscription and herbalism professions so I can make scrolls and stuff. After reading 3 Panel Soul (www.threepanelsoul.com) I realized what I had done and couldn't stop laughing.
Basically you have a Death Knight, the Necromantic Avatar Warrior of Undeath, running around picking daisies and scribbling weird shit into a notebook that to outsiders is probably bad poetry. xD

WTF happened to all my submissions!?
Posted 17 years agoWell apparently Dragoneer removed 75% of my pictures under FA's photograph policy where you must be the one taking the photo. Well guess what? I know there were a few photos I took and turned into posters he removed and all except one I gave CREDIT to the person who took the original! Hell the people I got the pictures from even commented on the picture and thought they were awesome! WTF!!?? Does PARODY LAW not apply to what I do somehow? I think not. This is fucking retarded!
Reference Books of Animals
Posted 17 years agoHey guys, I'm hoping a few artists can help me out. I'm looking for a good animal picture reference book for getting ideas for fur patterns, head/muzzle shapes, etc. Lately I've felt like I needed some more hobbies so I figured a good place to start might be drawing. Computers have gone from hobby to career and I don't want them to take over my life by sitting on them from the crack of dawn till I goto bed. So yeah you'll probably see crappy scans of crappy art over time and probably pictures of my Zoids models I'm gonna get back into building those as well.
Random thought for FAU2008
Posted 18 years agoOk everyone knows I did the PSP Hacking 101 thing for FAU and I started to think about FAU2008 if I wanted to do anything. I could easily do another PSP Hacking Session since the first didn't go quite like I planned, but then I thought as fun as that would be it would be more geek then fun and I would most likely not get a huge turn out like last time since all my past "students" have hacked their PSP's. Well a friend showed me this youtube video of a DS and PSP running a homebrew port of Quake on the same server proving the two could play against each other. Well... I have my own wireless router, a laptop, and I know there are many DS fanboys who attended last year's con some which have hacked DS's. So here's my idea and I'm curious what everyone thinks:
Homebrew Wars: PSP vs DS, Battleground: Quake.
Practice matches will be free for all Deathmatch so players can get a feel for combat on their preferred device an hour before the tournament. Tournament will be best 2 out of 3 rounds in Co-Op Deathmatch PSP players Vs DS Players at 15 minutes per round. The Finale of the event will be a "Battle of the Best" where the two best players from either side (decided by best average kill ratio) will duke it out in a 1 on 1 Deathmatch.
