Tool sucks
Posted 11 years agoI was at work today and my crew-leader was listening to some Tool and it was miserable. Their music is simultaneously boring and depressing, which made me angry. If I wanted to be bored and depressed, I would watch c-span. If I wanted to hear a bunch of passive-agressive whining, I would get involved in furry drama. It is ear-punishment on par with using nails as q-tips. Rant over.
412 Restaurant Reviews #1 Smoke bbq.
Posted 11 years agoHiya! I wanted to do a series of restaurant reviews for the Pittsburgh area and here is my first one!
Smoke BBQ Taqueria or Smoke for short is located on 8th ave in the Homestead area. They specialize in smoked meat tacos and mexican cuisine. If you go, be prepared to wait: their small dining room is inviting and personal but simply cannot handle the demands. Calling ahead might help you get a table faster but they don't officially take reservations.
I have personally visited Smoke several times and was impressed with the food every time. All of the ingredients are fresh and you can definitely tell. Their signature smoked meats are of the highest quality. I personally recommend the Wagyu beef brisket taco. I never thought I could bring myself to spend 6.75$ on a taco but now I do with every visit. They always have new and interesting specials so try some!
Although they specialize in smoked meat they have a decent vegetarian menu. The veggie taco, apple slaw, and chips w/queso are favs. They have different Agua Fresca all of the time but for a 1.75$ fee you can "BYOBooze". The staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere inviting. I would absolutely recommend Smoke if you are willing to wait for amazing food.
Smoke BBQ Taqueria
Pro: Amazing food
Con: Long wait
Fav dish: Wagyu beef brisket taco
Price : 10-20$/person

Posted 12 years ago I went to my parents house yesterday for the first time in a while and ot was very nice. I had a real eye-opener though when they said they just can't count on me as much and it's just not the same as it was liek a year ago. I realized that on making so many new friends and taking on so many projects, I may be alienating the people I care about most. I have to work on the balance therein and be the good friend/ boyfriend / brother/ son that I have aleays strived to be. So, if you are an old friend who hasn't heard from me in a while, don't be suprised if I get in touch with you.
Things that are mandatory, I command you.

The Legend Will Live On
Posted 12 years ago Tomorrow, I am going to sell my Wii system and the only games I have for it which are: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and tLoZ: Skyward Sword. While listening to the 25th anniversary soundtrack CD that came with Skyward Sword, I began reflecting on how much the Legend of Zelda means to me.
Since I was old enough to hold a NES controller I have been playing The Legend of Zelda. Throughout my life these games have taken me on so many adventures. I have become emotionally attached to a video game, and it just now seemed strange to me for the first time. I have always tried to be more Link-like, to be courageous and to face all challenges thrown at me with a smile and a nod. I have a freaking Triforce tattooed on my back for crying out loud (on the hand was not allowed as I was in the military at the time).
Despite this I'm saying goodbye to the new Zelda games, having never played Skyward Sword. A goodbye to Zelda games is a goodbye to console gaming for me as this has been a life-long adventure thus-far. However, the Legend shall not cease in my heart. I plan to re-live some of the older adventures and maybe someday I can carry on with the new ones.
Wisdom, courage, and power. :'(

Posted 12 years ago Furaffinity has been a wonderful place for me to express myself artisticly as well as expose myself to other creative works. Although I am repelled by certain subject matter found here, that comes with the territory of the free expression found here. I was at first hesitant to join this website due to my appreciation for art. My art is definitely not produced for the unappreciative masses, but here there is more of a community feel with like-minded individuals (rather than other sites say, like DA). For all of this I am grateful, and I am going to post art more frequently, including some of my older works. To my fine community of furry friends: keep on creating and fill the void this world has for creativity.
images
Posted 13 years agowhen I lay down to goto sleep, images flash before my mind's eye. Faces, some comforting, some disturbing. Cryptic writing that I have never seen before. Flashes of light like a hundred tiny explosions. I ride the thin line between megalomania and self-loathing, a stroke of genius and decent into madness. This is the only time I pray, I ask God for peace in my mind, but it always goes unanswered. There I am amongst the unknowable architecture, laughing with demons and then suddenly I am under water. I should never be left alone with my thoughts.
low fidelity
Posted 13 years agoWhat the crap is going on? I come on to furaffinity to look at some high quality art for inspiration, but all I have been seeing lately is a bunch of art that's somehow even worse than mine. If you want to do art, first do research, learn about fundamentald of design and aesthetics before putting any artistic medium down. Learn to picture in your mind what you want to create. Put some time and effort into it, your art should pour from your soul. Now go create some art that will inspire me and be pleasing to my eyes and my right-brain.
The real Conflict
Posted 13 years agoI apologize that most of my journals are political/ economical/ current events.
It's a hobby of mine.
Anyways, I originally wrote this as a comment to a Yahoo! news article, the article isn't important, but I think this is, so read it!

We are all falling into their trap.
They are all the same thing.
Hasn't anyone noticed how divisive the "powers that be" and the media have been lately?
Republican vs Democrat.
Rich vs Poor.
Gay vs Straight.
White vs Black.
Women vs Men.
It is becoming more and more clear that their strategy is divide and conquer.
Everything else is a distraction, the only true conflict is free people vs an oppressive government!
Eat mor chikin
Posted 13 years ago All the news hype about Chik-Fil-A reminded me of something. I love their food! Their grub is amazing! I went to eat there yesterday and justified spending the money I don't have as protesting the boycott. I don't care about the opinions of the companies that I buy from. They sell a product that I think is great at a price that is normal and they have great service, so guess what? I'm buying their product!
I think that it is ludicrous for these politicians to get involved. People certainly don't need politicians telling them where to spend their money! Also, for a bunch of bureaucrats to say that anyone is wrong for anything is hypocrisy. Especially that jack-wagon up in Boston. For a politician to prevent someone from expanding their business in the worst economic times since the great depression just because of their beliefs is not only wrong, it is tyranny.
I don't agree with S. Truett Cathy's stance on gay marriage, but I'm still going to dine at his restaurants. I believe that if a church wants to wed gay couples they should be allowed to. To me, that's part of the separation of church and state. However, boycotting someone for believing something different that you and putting their hard earned money towards furthering that belief is ridiculous. Boycotting is ridiculous in general. So, Eat Mor Chikin!

Waiting for results
Posted 13 years ago In a world of instant gratification, I'm trying something different. I am waiting for the fruits of my efforts to grow and ripen before I pick them. For example, I work based solely on commission, not doing all that great. However, I know that in less than 1 year, I will start to get residual income! Also, I know that every time I fail, I hone my craft more and more. I know that I could quit working here and get a job that pays just as much for less work, however, I see the potential for growth and am willing to wait for it.
Another thing is my art. 6 days a week; I wake up, goto work for 10-12 hours, get home, eat something, and then make time for art before I goto bed. My art is not that great, I make very little to no money on it, and I could be doing something else with my time. However, I know that if I continue to dedicate myself to it, my work will become better and better. I will be able to create true beauty and perhaps even make some money off of it.
I guess the point I'm getting at is: anything worth having is worth waiting for and working for. Instant gratification has no lesson attached, no experience, no feeling of accomplishment. It only creates the desire for more and lowers your standards.

What I'm not
Posted 13 years ago Just because I'm a furry and an artist and young, people assume that I'm a politically progressive bleeding heart crybaby socialist brainwashed liberal. They obviously couldn't be more wrong. Yes, I believe in fair, low, flat tax rate regardless of income. I believe in a drastic decrease in the size and scope of government. I believe that abortion is killing someone and that murder should be illegal. I believe that people should have to at least make a honest effort to provide for themselves before we allow them to receive government benefits.
Just because I believe in these things, doesn't mean I'm a republican (I'm actually Libertarian). Just because I am a proud gun owner, doesn't mean I'm a hick (I live in the city, am reasonably well-adjusted, and am educated). Don't assume things about me, get to know me; once most people get to know me, they actually like me. Sorry for the heated ranting.

Bubbles
Posted 13 years agoLast night, I invited my sister to the local post-con depression party. We instantly turned her into a furry. So allow me to introduce, Bubbles, the giraffe! :P
