yeah, so this week cant get any worse....
Posted 14 years agoIve gone from extremes of anger, depression and jubilation to complete dispaire. Anger over the casey anthony verdict. Depression over killing a fawn. Jubilation over my closing date FINALLY getting here after 2 months of pins and needles.... and today. Im miserable. They called all 200+ employees into a meeting as soon as I got to work today, and told us that they were closing my plant. Effective in about a year. Now Im wondering how the fuck Im supposed to pay off a mortgage and a student loan when Im on unemployment.
Life sucks and then you die, only this time my family has been dealt yet another blow that is crippling and there doesnt seem to be much silver lining here. Im just depressed as shit right now, and I dont do art very well when Im like that. Sooooo there goes my plans for any sort of lesson work on digital painting I was contemplating. Hoping I can find the will to do the commissions I know I will have to start taking to stay afloat.
I really need a hug. Or to win the lottery.

Vehicular Fawnicide...
Posted 14 years agoI feel absolutely rotten. Yesterday on my way to work I was poking my radio buttons, looked up in time to see a fawn about 4 inches away from my bumper, darting out across the road. Bad things can happen in an instant. I hit her, but didnt run over her, I nearly broke the break lines in my car and now my breaks are really in need of replacing after I pounded on them so damn hard. That poor little baby! I pulled over and ran back to check her and she didnt want me near her, a good sign I thought.
On closer inspection I couldnt find anything broken but she had her fur rubbed off in places from the asphalt. I picked her up thinking I could keep her propped up instead of laying down, I didnt know if deer were like horses or not.... how their organs crush each other when they lay flat out..... so Im kneeling in wet grass, in my work clothes, holding up this baby.... and people.... she weighed LESS than my 45lb nephew.... or so it felt like to me.... maybe it was adrenaline.... maybe I just dont remember clearly.
All I really know is she went into heart failure, it raced nearly out of her little chest, then slowed down and she couldnt keep her head up. An older couple stopped to see if I needed help, and so did a younger girl about my age.... but there was NOTHING we could do. She basically died in my arms sitting on my lap.
To make matters even more disturbing, she was the baby that was born just about a month or 6weeks ago ON MY PROPERTY! I watched her momma come down off the hillside and into the woods by our brook... and the next day she was thinner, so we knew she had dropped her fawn in the woods.
It was one of the MOST heartwrenching things I have ever witnessed. I wish I could have done more, I wish I wasnt going 30mph.... I have to hope she didnt suffer too much, as she passed less than 15 minutes after I hit her.
Every time I let my mind wander or stop focusing intently on something I can see her back and legs curled up under her in front of me.... and her tiny hooves with blood on them...
I feel absolutely awful.
My dad is a hunter of whitetail.... he made a comment this morning about how "So I hear you killed bambi" I didnt cry but I did yell at him. I dont care if I DO eat venison and I DO have 8 mounted bucks throughout out house. Accidentally killing that baby was horrible! I had really hoped she was just stunned.....
And to make it worse, my aunt and uncle (who live next door) said when they came home last night, the Momma was standing there by her baby wondering why it wouldnt get up.
Stupid Momma deer! Why do you have to get up and traverse roads at 1pm in the middle of a HOT afternoon? I thought deer liked to bed down in the afternoons and sleep because they foraged at night.

Posted 14 years agoBuying a house. Things are looking like it might be a little hectic around home for the next couple of weeks. I'll draw when i have the time, usually on Sundays. Between the good weather and all this stress and craziness here.... it might be a while until I can update with any personal work. (I had big hopes of getting some of the artwork for my 3-4 ongoing stories worked on)
Im still open for commissions! My prices are $10 and up and I can usually get things done in the order they are given to me in 1-3 weeks. I usually only have a serious block of time to do artwork on Sundays. (I work the rest of the time and have my nephew around on Saturday. I made the mistake of showing him youtube one night so he would cuddle with me and now everytime I turn the computer on I hear "Aunt WayWay? Can we watch dozers and mac twucks on your 'puter?" LOL He just turned 4)

1. I've only been in the fandom for 3 years or so.
2. I joined the fandom because no one was buying my art from Deviantart and I thought maybe I could market myself to furries. What started as a way to pimp my skills turned into an interest and then a serious interest and soon I looked back and realized perhaps I was a this way all along, but subconsciously afraid to admitt it to myself or others. I'm very happy to be part of the fandom now, even though my commissions have dropped off the face of the earth, I'm happy not drawing anime and focusing on anthro or animal and creature related work.
3. Im very shy and self conscious. I never think my art is good enough, tho on rare occasions, some things DO come out well enough for me to wanna brag. Sometimes if it sounds like Im bragging Im really just pumped about my art finally DOING something I wanted it to do.
4. About 5 years ago in college (my 2nd go at it) I actually took to heart a teachers recommendation to use references for poses. Usually stock photos for the main pose or a general idea how to paint things like clouds or water. Because of this (and relying something very heavily on them) I have a VERY hard time drawing from memory or without a reference.
5. Im shy. I dont do drama simply because no one really talks to me much on FA DA or any other website Im on. I have few friends, but those I have I really cherish. I'm always open to new friends.
6. My best friend actually found me through my artwork on DA. At the time I was one of the first people to do fanart for a new-ish book series called Black Dagger Brotherhood. (Vampires). Im not sure why she started talking to me but Im VERY glad she did. Shes my best friend and pseudo sister.
7. I adore a dragon I met the first week I joined FA. His belief in my artwork and me as a person has helped me get over not just heartbreak but multiple depressions because of artblocks.
8. My family had to give our dog to my aunt and uncle 2-3 months ago. He kept nipping my nephew (who moved back in with us 4-5 days a week). Its been hard, some days its like we never had him, though he was the BEST dog anyone in my family has ever owned.... and he was highly trained. The stupidest/cute Shitzu I've ever met. He changed my mind about the breed.... and not having him here makes me feel empty. I need a dog of my own.
9. Im addicted to Paranormal Romance Books. Things with vampires, werewolves... or other beasties. I get into a new series and I've been known to read 5 books a week to finish it. When I say Im addicted to them, I really am. Sometimes I dont eat or sleep til I can put the book down and its done.
10. I have OCD. Most days I dont notice it. When I read, see a new style or art I wanna try, or get an idea like arts and crafts wise or real estate buying (though I cant afford it yet) I really notice it. It makes me kinda manic crazy upbeat lol. If you know me, you'll know the signs lol

Posted 14 years agoTurn around time is 1-3 weeks depending on what you want and the complexity of it. I have a full time job that sometimes asks me to work more than a regular 40 hours in any given week. But I usually get Saturday and Sunday off and Sunday I save to do artwork 6-8hrs!

Art Fever?
Posted 14 years agoFor some reason I got up early today and decided I wanted to practice with pastel.... I sat at the table for about 2.5hrs and just.... drew. I played with pastel on a scrap sheet of pastel paper and realized I had oil pastels, which are harder to blend, so I abandoned the idea of pastel and just DREW for the sake of practicing realism... at least in the sketch form. I ended up averaging 25-30 minutes each sketch. I did a grumpy tiger, a howling wolf, a burmese mountain dog, a golden retreiver mix, and some kind of smaller/medium mix dog that looks beagle/terrier with tricolor like a rottie with a white chest.
It ranged from messy long fur to super short, and overall I can say I really love drawing canines!
Im going to put my foot up this afternoon, propped up outside in the sun for a few hours and relax, but now that i seem to be able to sit at the table for at least 2 hours, maybe once my nephew leaves on sunday I'll be able to work on those steampunk watercolor freebies I promised.

Posted 14 years agoAnybody want commissions? I've got a few on my plate, and two personal things Im working on for myself along with my Ashoani forum (eventually itll get done) but.... yeah. I fell outside and broke my fibula today. Scared the shit outta my 3 and a half year old nephew when I did it. I was pushing him in a sled. There was lots od panting and yelling for help because no one could hear me. Its been a horrible day so far, and tomorrow first thing in the morning Im going to get a cast put on it. Im on vicodin and advil, which isnt fucking me up as bad as I thought it would. So once I get home, Ill be in my bed (which is now in my livingroom thanks to my dad and sister) or in my recliner with my laptop and tablet. This is my first ever broken bone and the doctor said I might have pulled a tendon or muscle when it happened too, so only time and an MRI will tell. Adding this to my recent kidney issues Im ready for the shotgun, but Ill just bury myself in artwork instead. Come chat with me. Im bored as hell.

Posted 15 years agoAnyone have any interest in commissioning me for comic pages? I need to practice and my personal stories are WAY too long to toy with in the comic format. Im talking anywhere up to 5 pages right now.... just to get my paws wet. Any takers? It would be traditionally drawn and then done in black and white in photoshop. Possible colors added based on price negotiated. If you just wanna talk to me about comics in general, how you guys feel about seeing them in your inbox from anyone, or if you know any good web ones, feel free to chat in the comments! Im bored.

Posted 15 years agoI think QUITE a few of them are really good bases for new character designs... or even just random designs I can practice with. Lots of animals Ive never drawn before.... but there are like 17 or 18 that I liked enough to save refs of. WHERE TO BEGIN?!?!?

Posted 15 years agoHi Everyone! Long time no type huh? I've been dealing with a BUNCH of issues at home and at work for the past few months, so I hope y'all haven't forgotten about me! I haven't forgotten about you!
Be prepared for an art dump in a week or two. Gonna finish the last of my commissions, contest prizes & late Christmas presents. Its been a long depressed fall and winter so far, and now that I'm on meds, I feel like things will start returning to normal again and creativity will come back.
I'm in the process of creating and opening a RolePlay Forum based on a series of adoptable creatures I created last year and never did anything with. February promises to be a busy art month for me. (Not to mention my mom and sister's birthdays AND my parents anniversary too!) Once the site is up and running, I'll evaluate the interest in it and the pets. If there isn't much, I'll be opening regular commissions again. (See the list below)

Posted 15 years agoIm sorta back. I've been awol lately well, for afew months now. Good news is HOPEFULLY the stress level Ive been under for RL things is going to start getting better once I make the move from 2nd to 1st shift at my job. I have plans to finish the two icons for prowler and get back into the swing of art by doing the freebie steampunk stuff for my contest winners from Nov. 1st.

Commissions Open Again!
Posted 15 years agoAfter taking my car in to have the alternator belt replaced (for roughly $50) they tell me my tires got a nail in it and the other small belt is fraying too. ($145) YAY I can actually afford that and not sink. Bad news? Some "boot" part of my power steering something-or-other is rusted cracked and leaking.... which I can only assume will get worse as cold weather gets colder. New York Hates all Cars. I have one estimate by the dealer that says $716 for parts and labor PLUS another $80 for a re-alignment. I am getting not only a second opinion, but also price checking the parts if Garvey will tell me what they are, and asking two garage-y type friends of mine to quote me on it too. Im HOPING very hard that its more like $400ish. I just cant afford $800.... I wouldnt have it til Christmas!

Posted 15 years agoFree Steampunk Victorian Painting!Here's the deal. I'm finishing up old commissions and I should be done with the oldest set by Halloween. (I've sent 4 icons off to be okayed by Prowler, then I'll be working on CGing them and uploading this in the next 7 days or so... YAY!!!)
I'm building a victorian steampunk-ish outfit for an area Con in a few weeks. It's got my artistic wheels turning, and since I need practice, the inspiration came and I want to extend a challenge to my watchers. Whoever designs the best "steampunk" inspired outfit, will get their character painted. I'm not 100% sure if it will be more than a monochrome painting, but again, it depends on how much of my old commissions I can get done before the deadline I set for this contest. AND how awesome your design idea is!
You can do anything from sophisticated and stylish, to outlandish crazy fun. It's up to you! If I choose your design, I'll paint your character and cover the cost of shipping myself!
The reason I'm doing this is I need a new reference for watercolor + fur + clothing. If I do my own fursona I'll spend waaaaay too much time fussing over the tiniest details and take forever.
Here are the guidelines:
1. DEADLINE: October 31st 11:59pm (Eastern Standard Time. I live in New York!)
2. Your character species..... doesn't matter if you have an image reference. Or I can google the species for photos (I would prefer an animal that is furred, but mythical is OKAY as long as you have a good reference)
3. You don't need to design the outfit as in draw it yourself! You can post a reply and have up to 12 links. As long as they all work.... I would PREFER you to use an image hosting site like photobucket so I can access the refs for a while.
4. YOU MUST BE A WATCHER TO PARTICIPATE. (So.... watch me if you haven't already! >w<)
***If you wanna be super nice, you can post the link to my contest on your journals to get more interest. The only artist disclaimer I have, is that if I dont have at least 12 designs I'll cancel the contest. You CAN post up to THREE designs per person. I dont need character refs, just outfit designs. So.... fall is here!
Posted 15 years agoSo now, once my room and art setup is cleaned up and ready, Ill be getting back into drawing and painting again. I'll be working on icons for prowler and a few things for Carol, but for the most part, just making sure I draw, draw, DRAW. I wanted to drive around and take photos of the area's foliage, but it seems that ONE DAY last week would have been IT, but I had to work. Now everything is turning brown and so much of what was beautiful has already fallen.... looks like one more fail. Ive been trying to do it for 3 years now... just like carving a pumpkin and I never seem to nail it.
Oh well, hopefully I will get my ass in gear and get a pumpkin done for Halloween and the 3 kids down the street that MIGHT be stopping by... who knows.
I need to paint. I feel the urge but have no time available to me. Gotta make a lunch, pack a dinner, and run to Rite Aide before work lol. YAY for 9 hour days! A 45hr paycheck will seem nice after 2 weeks of 40hrs.
Not that Ill see any of that money, it will all go towards the diet I just started today. Hopefully Ill be done with it by the 1st of the year though... thats what Im aiming for anyways.

Posted 15 years agoEven though I said I usually take the summer off from drawing, I miss it horribly. I dont REALLY have the time or energy to spend on it, much less the ambition to sit on my arting desktop computer when its 80 and perfectly sunny, but I have to do SOMETHING.
Painting is one thing.... its ENTIRELY different from drawing and sketching IMO. While I AM getting better with watercolors, Im NOT getting better drawing scenes, emotion and full figure images. I miss the pain of sketching... the erasing and cursing and triumphs.... *sigh*
I have quite a few characters cruising around in my head. They've been very patient with me so far. Some, or MOST I should say, have been waiting upwards of 4 years to have a visual form. Only half or so of these characters have an animal form. (Feral or anthro or both) So unless you would be interested to see their human incarnations too, I'll plan on only posting the images I do that can relate to the furry community.
Also, just wanted to warn you all that I'll be working on the Azul poster again soon.
Also I have a que of old commissions I owe

I just feel the need to sketch again.... and I would prefer it to be these faceless characters in my head, but I really would draw anyone actually... if you think youre fursona or original character is awesome, just comment and I'll take a look. I need to break the new laptop into photoshop anyway LOL.
Summer 2010 Neonslushie Commish!
Posted 15 years agoEDIT: 7/23- I cant believe Neon picked ME for one of her commissions! I get more Azul art! *dances in crazy happiness and falls down alot* This is SO awesome! I REALLY need to finish up the Azul Anthro form piece I started like... MONTHS ago.... but I dont ever do art on the computer in the summer.... I just cant bring myself to sit in my house while the sun is out and the waves are calling my name lol.
Lately, with the weather snapping to 80+ degrees each day with all the blue sky and SUPER pollen.... I haven't been able to find much time to devote to artwork. I work second shift and I usually only have about 3hrs or less to do whatever I want in the mornings. It's just hard for me to sit down inside and draw when its gorgeous out and the boat is right there and everything.... and the pollen is so thick right now... the water where we usually swim is COVERED in a film of yellow gunk. I've never had allergies before, but thankfully it's not in my sinuses yet, just making me wanna claw my damn eyes out. LOL
Anyway... I have one big illustration (2 characters with a background), 2 fullbodied chibis, and my Azul poster to finish up before I can do anything else. It's probably gonna take me all summer to do them because work is.... annoying. They're having us work 9hr days (mon-fri) AND Saturday overtime 11am-4pm (almost EVERY Saturday)
So for the last like... 2 months all I've been doing is work work WORK. I don't ever find enough time on Saturday night and Sunday during the day to get everything cleaned and laundry done, and one of my friends visited... much less do any artwork.
So.... that's whats been going on and why I haven't been active on here lately. I'm sorry and if you can just stick it out with me, Ill have some awesome pretties to show you in a few weeks.

Posted 15 years agoAnybody have any feasible ideas for raising cash? I mean, Im working on an awesome new CGing style... I might be able to do one painting a month but if its still worth next to nothing then its not worth it to me.... Someone mentioned doing the 100 Sketch Challenge.... Come on! Like I have enough interested watchers for that? LOL
If I promised dynamic sexy pin up poses and nudity would you pay $10? Maybe $15 to have the original on cardstock shipped to you if you live in the US?

Once the last two commissions for Riyuko and Prowler are done, that's all folks! I'll be turning my attentions to working on improving my art in general. Sadly most of the work I'm planing on doing this year will be personal works and digital painting practices for new stories I'm working on. Namely Vampires, Elves, Fae, Demons, Humans and were-animals (wolves, leopards, foxes, lions and tigers).
If you're interested in seeing my Vampires, Elves, Fae, Demons, and Human characters and designs just let me know! If not, I'll keep them posted on my DA instead and just post my were-animals here!
