Flat-Colour Commission Signups!
Posted 2 months agoNew quarter, fresh round of signups! Sorry I didn't get to as many of these as I would have liked to last quarter, some... things happened. You know the story already. Slowed me down a lot. Still slowing me down a bit, but I'm getting back to 'er.
That said, there were so many signups that even if I had done one every single day I would have only gotten to a little more than half of them, so don't think that if I didn't get to your idea it's because I hate it. There's just a lot of ya, and sometimes I like to do things other than just doing flat colour commissions every single day. :P So keep sending those ideas in!
Here's the link if you're interested!

I need entertaining streamer/podcast recommendations!
Posted 3 months agoNot gonna lie, not doing great. I need a distraction. Wanna make a bigass playlist of funny and entertaining stuff and put it on and just take my mind off things as long as possible. Genuinely, the more the merrier. You can not send me too many things. The only treatment for tinnitus is distraction, and it looks like I'm going to need to distract myself for a good long time.
If you've got any videos that never fail to make you laugh, or at least smile, or just feel really good, send 'em my way would ya? Searching "funny video" is only gonna take me so far.
EDIT:
Okay this is my bad. I originally asked for funny videos, but I forgot most funny videos are like 10 seconds long. It will take me longer to make a playlist out of these than it will to watch them, hah. I'll check them out of course, but what I'd really like is any podcasts or twitch/youtube streamers or lets plays or stuff like that, where the vibe is fun/positive/funny but it's good longer form content, stuff I can put on and distract myself with for a few hours.
Also I'd like to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone who reached out to support me in my time of crisis. There were so many responses that I had to make a second post to thank everyone because I simply couldn't respond to so many comments, and you did it again on that post. I simply can't think of enough useful things to say to respond to all those posts, but I've read every word and appreciate them all very much. Y'all are a big part of what's keeping me together right now.
And a preemptive thanks in case it happens again here. :P

Chastity Party YCH is still on!
Posted 4 months agoSorry for the YCH reminder, I don't typically do them but considering everything that's going on here I figured I'd just make sure things are clear. Since comments are now available, the chastity party YCH is still a go at the listed time: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/60689601/
In the event FA goes fully back down again during the time bidding is supposed to end (assuming it's a significant downtime and not like, a few minutes in which case I'll just end as normal), the new end-date will be whatever day it comes back on + one extra day, just to give everyone time to check in.
That's all! Hope you all enjoyed your FA break. :P

WARNING: Discord/Telegram impersonator!
Posted 4 months agoJust got the heads up that someone is attempting to impersonate me on discord. As a reminder, (outside of a local furry discord), I never use discord for socializing and will only contact you for work if you have directly asked me to via the signup form. In that case, absolutely feel free to note me here or on patreon to verify.
The impersonator seems to have the handle '@ruaidriart'. This is not me. Ignore any attempts to communicate from this person.
I've been made aware it's being tried on telegram as well. I also don't add people to telegram randomly- be vigilant folks, and don't be afraid to double-check here.
As a reminder, a few things-
I always use actual invoices when sending payment requests via paypal (I don't 100% know why that's important but apparently it is and so I do, hah)
I also currently only use paypal for payments.
If it's a YCH on FA, I'll always send you a comment on the bid first letting you know that you won, and it will be telling you to note me, so double check that before doing anything and be suspicious of any notes you get around the end of a YCH.
Be careful out there folks, lotta people want to separate you from your money!

Hey blender users, we could use your help!
Posted 5 months agoA lot of folks these days seem to be using my node setup that manipulates the normals of fur for a smoother look, and if you're an eevee user it's been grand- but if you're a Cycles user it just doesn't work due to a blender bug. The bug has been reported, but the devs just ain't moving on it. And even if you don't use cycles, it really should work for cycles anyway, but the devs don't seem to give hair and fur a ton of love lately. There's still no physics for the new hair system, even a few years into it being made, for example. I'M NOT BITTER.
Well,
sentharn is trying to give the devs a gentle push to maybe consider fixing their shit. There's a blender community that's designed to help the devs know what the community is interested in, and Sen has made a post there about the problem- it would be grand if you could go give the post a little updoot, maybe even leave a comment if this has been bothering you. You'll have to make an account if you don't have one, but it only takes a second. Keep it SFW, keep it civil, but letting them know that it's not just one weirdo who wants to see this fixed, but a whole bunch of weirdos, could help finally get their attention.
It's worth a try, I guess!
Their post about it is here, if you want to details: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/60596978/

Important: Other places to find me
Posted a year agoLike him or hate him, the man at the wheel of this site is with us no more, and that leaves the future of FA somewhat in question. As far as I can tell nobody is quite sure what's going to happen yet, some of the potential outcomes aren't good, and things can happen quite suddenly in situations like these. I'm not saying it's time to panic, but this is definitely a "hope for the best, prepare for the worst" situation. To that end...
While I'm not active on any of them at the moment, if you want to stay in touch in the event of FA's collapse, you should follow me in at least one of the following places:
https://www.weasyl.com/~ruaidri
https://furrynetwork.com/ruaidri/
https://inkbunny.net/Ruaidri
Edit: I see Itaku popping up a lot and I've been kinda curious about it anyway, so what the heck, I made one of those too. It's entirely empty for now but you can hop on if you want, just in case.
https://itaku.ee/profile/ruaidri
They won't necessarily be where I ultimately stay, but I can at least use them to organize and point to wherever I'll end up next. Direct messages on e621 also usually make their way to me eventually, so that's also an option if things go tits up.
If you know of any other active furry communities that allow NSFW I should consider I'm all ears. Discord/telegram are maybies, but not while FA is still around because I'm not super keen on either. Twitter just ain't happening.

Rigging Tutorial is up!
Posted a year ago...on patreon WAIT before you go. I fully intend on posting them publicly at some point in the future, so keep an eye out for that, though it may be a lil' while.
But, for a few reasons I want to keep the initial release of it at least a little more contained. The biggest one being that rigging is a very complicated topic, and all it would take is forgetting to mention one single small step for an entire chunk of the rigging to just not work, so I'd like to have some earlier eyes on it to see if it's even possible to follow it, or if some major part of the video is too confusing and needs adjusting. If people are actually able to use it, then I'll see about releasing it more widely.
...also I won't lie this took fukkin' days to make (video editing is awful I hate it) so allowing one little patreon shoutout is hopefully acceptable in exchange. x3
But I do want to be very clear about what this is first! This is not a highly structured, thoroughly planned out tutorial- this is some very low production value stuff. I took the rigging stream I did a while back, sped it up, cut out any useless bits and slapped some text on it explaining what I'm doing, and occasionally even why I'm doing it. If you try to follow this you'll have to put up with my terrible explanations and ADHD workflow where I often start doing something only to get distracted doing something else ten seconds in.
Also, absolute beginners to blender will find this very difficult to use. You'll want to have at least some degree of comfort navigating blender's various modes, and an understanding of how to make drivers beforehand wouldn't hurt either. I do briefly try to explain how to set them up but there are probably better guides, and you'll find it easier to follow if you know how to make a driver already.
This video starts at the point of having a model in need of rigging, and builds the entire rig from the ground up, ending with a rig that's mostly ready to go. The only thing missing is corrective shape keys (and a few shape keys for expressions) but if you can make it to the end of the video, you're more than ready to tackle corrective shape keys on your own and five minutes on youtube will be all you need to set them up yourself. But I will go over them in a future video as well, assuming anybody gives a crap about these.
BUT, I'm hoping that what I made can be used by a dedicated viewer (who doesn't mind a little problem solving if things go wrong...) to put together their own rig. If you want to find out and maybe help me improve the video if it's got any problems, you'll be able to find the link here: https://www.patreon.com/ruaidri

Okay I'm sorry I'm done bye thanks for listening.

A Problem with Model Commissions
Posted 2 years agoAlright, I think I pretty much know what I gotta do. Thanks guys!
We gotta talk!
Some of you may have heard that my plan for this year was to hit model commissions pretty hard, see how many I can do. There's a lot of people who want one from me lately and so I want to be able to do that for them. Keen eyed among you may have noticed, however, that I haven't done that. Like barely at all, not even close. x3
Pretty early on I realized there was going to be an issue... mainly that the people who get models from me also typically want me to make animations for them, and not just one, but usually as a sort of ongoing basis. Which is entirely reasonable, it's a lot to spend if you're only getting one animation out of it. But I think you can probably see where this is going already, as I make more and more models there are going to be more and more people who want animation work done more often. I also like to keep models up to date as I learn new things and improve my rigging and that would also pile on more and more as I make more models for people. I already don't get to the people who I've already made models for nearly often enough as it is, throwing a ton more people on the pile seems... problematic.
This is a nice problem to have as far as problems go I admit, but make no mistake, it is a problem. I've got a bit of a catch 22 on my hands. I can either make models for people regularly and become overwhelmed with all the additional work it brings in, which obviously sucks, or I can just not make models for people and not have that problem but also... not make models for people. Which sucks. I've been thinking about what to do for a while and uh, I got nothing. It kinda seems like a fundamental problem with the concept.
I mean I could make models for people on a "You get one animation and then you're on your own" basis, but that... also sucks? I don't like that option. But I don't really know what else to do.
This is why I haven't done the model commission work I'd hoped to for people so far. Just don't know what to do. Anyone got any thoughts? I don't really see a way out of this that doesn't suck. The least damaging solution seems to be to just not make models for people on a commission basis and avoid leaving people hanging with their expensive model, but that obviously sucks for everyone still. I got nothing, help? x3

Geometry Nodes Fur Setup!
Posted 2 years agoWell, I think it's ready! This is my brainchild as a result of the last couple of weeks/months, depending on how you look at it. Nice to finally, hopefully be done with it!
This one is something 99% of you aren't gonna care about; if you're not actively making models in blender right now there's not much here for you. But if you are and you've been wanting to test out a fur style similar to mine, these nodes will give you all the tools you need to do it. There's a node setup for transferring normals and colours from the body to fur, and a node setup for scattering fur across a surface that's compatible with a hacky way to get physics into curves-based hair, since the current and near-future fur scattering methods aren't.
You can find the download link here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/geome.....nodes-80457212 IT'S NOT PAYWALLED, that's just a convenient place for me to host it. But I certainly wouldn't mind if you did decide to toss a few dollarydoos my way if you appreciate all the hard work that went into making this. :P Not necessary though!
Note, normal transferring currently only works in eevee, you'll get weird artifacts in cycles!
Honestly, you only really need to use my fur scattering system on hair setups that need physics; for the rest of the body you can just use whatever method of combing curve-based fur you like. But what I've got here is actually quite usable for general combing over the whole body if I do say so myself. You can use it to stylize fur over the whole character's body and just apply it (and then re-add a geometry nodes modifier with a "Deform curves on surface" node) anywhere you don't need physics.
If you -do- need physics, the setup will seem pretty fiddly at first, but once you go over the steps a few times it's not so bad.
If you try this out and run into trouble... well, firstly just go over the directions carefully, there's a lot here and it's easy to mess up. But if you try a few times and can't get it working, let me know and I'll see if I can help. It's very possible I messed up something in the directions and need to re-write some stuff. If you manage to make anything cool with this setup, show me, I'd love to see! :D

Model Chosen!
Posted 2 years agoJust letting y'all know that I've chosen the model I'm going to make for this latest commission opening. I decided to go with
Zephyr42's derg. I believe I said to shoot me if I ever take a commission involving wings again, so uh, get those guns out boys!
I've actually seen this character around and been rather fond of some of the work they've been in, so I couldn't resist getting a chance to bring them into 3D.
There were a ton of good characters I wanna make in that journal though- I might dip into it a few more times for near future commissions, so stay tuned!

The commission plan!
Posted 3 years agoI know a lot of people have been wanting various things from me, and I think it's finally time to get down to it. All immediate health crises, computer problems, and otherwise seem to be over, nothing on the go... I'm going to tentatively start getting into it and hope nothing else goes wrong, hah. Figured I'd let you all know how it's going to go down.
So, here's the plan for commissions going forward!
3D:
My method for choosing who to make 3D models for has always been "pick whoever I feel like at the time", (as I haven't found a better method yet, for a variety of reasons, I can go into it if you're curious) so I'm going to start by getting a few people out of the way whom I already know I want to work for and have been wanting a model for a long time. I see no reason to make everyone do the whole sign-up song and dance if I already have an idea who I want to choose, right? Figured I'd save everyone the trouble and start with those, and then once I'm out of ideas I'll move on to opening more generally. It's not a long list so don't worry! I'm thinking early next year I should start having general openings for everyone to hop on.
2D:
I'm going to give people from my old waiting list the remainder of this year to get in contact with me, starting next year I'm going to stop giving them so much priority. I'm not prepared to just delete the list entirely, but currently when someone from the list wants a picture I try to fit them in asap; starting next year they'll have to wait for openings and sign up like anyone else, though I will likely give them a guaranteed spot if that happens. I'll begin, when I feel like it, taking commissions from the general public again. They probably won't be super common early on as I want to get through some of the 3D backlog first, but they will at least happen from time to time instead of never, like it has been for quite some time, hah!
Right, I think that's it. If things go well, that's how it should go. Can't say for sure... it's very easy to say "I'm gonna do tons of commissions for people!" but then get burned out a week in and need to stop, but I'm hoping that won't happen and I'll be able to get a good handful of stuff done for people. Wish me luck!

My vacation so far:
Posted 3 years agoSudden onset of intense abdominal pain. Two days hanging around in an overcrowded ER with nothing to dooooo (this was almost worse than the pain). Gallstones. Looking like I'm going to need surgery.
0/10 would not recommend, not my best vacation ever.

Any Python/Blender coders out there?
Posted 3 years agoThis is a freakin' hail mary of a long shot, but if anyone seeing this is familiar with Python and has some time to kill...
You may have seen I've been fiddling around with a new fur shader in Blender lately as it solves a lot of the issues that more realistic fur shading otherwise has in Eevee, and in general has a kinda nice look I think. However it does have a lot of drawbacks. The style is achieved by manipulating the normals of both the model and the fur in such a way that they end up identical, which really helps the fur blend in with the surface, but this manipulation also causes light to behave extremely strangely on the characters. For example, some lights can't cast light on any part of a model that's higher up than that light is. Even if the light is pointing right at it, they typically have to be above whatever they're casting light on because of these altered normals.
If I could somehow get fur to take the normals of the surface they're emitted from, or perhaps the nearest surface point instead of their inbuilt fake-roundness normals I might be able to replicate all the advantages of this new style without having to make all the sacrifices to the lighting. It'd be the best of both worlds, super smooth looking fur without losing shadow or lighting detail!
...or it might look awful. I have no idea, because I can't test it myself, because there's no inbuilt way to achieve this at the moment. But it might look -great-.
If you happen to be familiar with Python and somehow have nothing better to do with your skills, some kind of addon, or perhaps a shader node that allows me to access the normals of the mesh from the fur material, something along those lines that allows this transfer of normals from surface to fur -might- result in some fantastic looking fluff.
I have no idea what amount of work goes into something like this. If it's a tremendous amount, don't even worry about it. But if it's something that can be knocked out fairly quickly....
I can't offer much in return aside from the promise that if you can figure it out, and if it looks as good as I think it might, I'm gonna make a lotta sweet looking porn thanks to your efforts. x3 I'm not super hopeful on this one, but I just had to toss it out there anyway. Thanks for your time!

Why I gravitated so strongly toward 3D art
Posted 3 years agoI've got some time to kill tonight while I wait for an animation to finish rendering, so I thought I'd take some time to talk about something that's been on my mind lately. If you've been following me for at least a couple of years now, you've probably noticed that for a long time I was doing nearly 100% traditional 2D art, and then I started dipping my toes into 3D work out of curiosity, and then *wham* 3D suddenly just took over and now that's the majority of what I do. I thought I might tell you why this happened.
And to do that, we're going to have to talk a little bit about aphantasia.
I want you, when you're done reading this sentence, to close your eyes and try and picture an apple. Really try and get a grasp on it. How clearly can you see it? Can you manipulate it? Turn it over and see different sides of it? Imagine it in different lighting? On difference surfaces? I think you get the point.
This ability to visually imagine a scene may seem kind of innately human if you've lived with it your whole life and never thought about it, but it's actually not a constant; like a lot of human experiences, it varies from person to person. In fact, there are some people out there who are literally completely incapable of visually picturing an object in their mind. Sure, they'll know the facts about it, if you ask them to describe an apple to you they can pull up their memories of what an apple is and list off some details, but they can't see it in their mind. Or anything. Ever. This complete inability to mentally visualize is called aphantasia.
I... do not have aphantasia. But, if you were to imagine a scale describing this ability to picture stuff in your head, with 0 meaning complete aphantasia and 10 meaning being able to see things in your imagination as clear as if they were real, I'd put myself at... a 1? Maybe a 1.5. Now, having aphantasia is not a death sentence for an artistic career, there are even a few artists out there who have complete aphantasia, but having this deficiency in visual imagination certainly doesn't make shit any easier. It can be kinda rough.
While I do get glimpses of pictures in my head, they're tenuous at best. I don't really get full images in my mind, just sort of general bits and pieces if ideas I might want to see in the scene, and even those are distant and fuzzy. They like to change out from under me and I really have to struggle and focus to keep the idea intact. This can lead to a lot of difficulties when trying to convert a picture idea from someone's written words into a painting, which is kinda what I do for a living, hah. I tend to get to my final result by what almost feels like randomly drawing lines and waiting until I make the one that looks correct. There's a lot of practice and structure that helps me get to that result faster, and like I said I can see what I'm aiming for a tiny little fuzzy bit, but I'm not just seeing the right thing in my mind first and then putting that on paper, I definitely spend a lot of time drawing it on paper first and fiddling with it until it looks right. This is exacerbated by me choosing to primarily work in watercolours, where it's imperative to have a pretty solid idea of what the image will look like before doing any painting; It's not all that uncommon for me to have to sit and just think about a picture for an hour before even starting it, and again before painting it. It can be frustrating not being able to really see what I'm aiming for, and just hoping it all works out. Working in 2D digitally is only marginally better... sure I can redo stuff if I don't like it, but I still have to "see" it first to be able to make it, which as we've just learned... I suck balls at.
And thus we finally get to the point- none of that is really an issue in 3D. I don't have to be able to imagine the scene before I make it. Don't know what kind of lighting I want to use? No problem, I'll just plonk in a light and see how it looks. If it doesn't look good, just move it around, change up the colour, add in some more. It's not such a stressful situation to find a good result because I can see it all in front of me and manipulate it in a way I can't in my mind. I find the final result through experimentation rather than imagination, which is already my learned method. This is not revolutionary news of course, I imagine that kind of flexibility is in part exactly why 3D took over movie and game scenes to the degree it did, but coming from such a strict 2D work flow it really is a kind of breath of fresh air. It's like getting a pair of glasses for my brain, I can finally see clearly and just get to the good stuff instead of struggling through the haze of my weak imagination.
There are other reasons I enjoy 3D a lot these days as well, for example I find being able to add motion to my ideas makes them interesting in a way I'm not sure I'd ever have the skill to achieve in 2D. Sure, I could create a single 2D static image of an idea I like, but in around the same amount of time (assuming the model is already made) I can make a mini-animation on the same idea and that'll have some actual life to it! So sure, there's lots of things I like about 3D in general now that I'm here, but I think it's this workaround for my stupid brain that struggles to picture things for me that really sucked me in and got me to stick with it through the early rough period, and why it gets the majority of my attention these days.
There's no point to this journal, by the way, if you've been waiting for one. This isn't me announcing I'm giving up on 2D art or anything like that, I still plan to take 2D commissions from time to time and even maybe make a comic or two here and there, and of course there's a painting made each month for supporters. I do still enjoy it, it's just harder and more taxing. I just thought some people out there might like to get a glimpse into the brain of the guy who makes all the fucked up stuff you see here, and why 3D has taken over my life so thoroughly.
Yeah, I think that's all I have to say on that. If you've ever wondered what the heck happened to all the 2D art, well... there ya go. It's not going away, but it's probably never going to be anywhere near as prominent as it once was. 3D just fits into my abilities and covers my weaknesses far too well for me to not want to use it for most things these days. :P

Anothe way to keep track of openings and stuff - twitter
Posted 3 years agotwitter.com/its_a_ru
Hey! I'm trying something out. For a long, long time it felt like FA was kind of the center of the furry universe and I could get by just fine by mostly living here, but more and more often these days I'm running into people who are struggling to communicate because they're not on FA and I'm not... anywhere else.
Obviously if you're reading this, that's probably not a huge issue for you, but you might still want a different way to get in touch or keep track of what I'm up to, and this could be that! The furry community seems to be pretty active over there, from what little I can tell.
It's mainly going to be for businessy stuff, so unless you want to hear about when I'm selling something or when I open for commissions, maybe when I post animations or other big things, stuff like that, you probably shouldn't follow me there. But if you do want to know those things (or just have a convenient way to send me hot furry smut you think I'll like, I'm totally down for that), then... well, there you go!

Also I have gone my whole life up to now without interacting with twitter so if you have can think of anything I need to know, fire away.

I need bird/gryphon character pictures!
Posted 4 years agoIf you've got a picture that:
-features a birb or gryphon that owns a penis
-you own the rights to (is your character, and the artist is likely to be okay with it being used here)
-you are alright with being used as a background object as an "example" in a museum themed animation
Link it here! These will be somewhat blurry background objects that aren't the main focus in any way, but hey, it's still a way to get your character in an animation in a tiny way I guess. x3 Thanks! :D
Alrighty, spots chosen! Thanks everyone. But please feel free to keep showing me your birds, I'm quite enjoying it. :P
Model commission selected!
Posted 4 years agoFor those of you waiting for the results of this commission journal, the model slot has been selected! If you haven't heard from me yet, I'm sorry to say you haven't been picked this time. But man, so many good characters this time, I wanna make like all of 'em. Stay tuned 'cause I may pick out one or two more from that journal when I'm done with this one!
In the end I went with
Boone_Zofox's excellent birb character: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/39794415/
Yes, I am making a lot of birds lately. I don't apologize, birds are awesome. But I'll try and vary it up with the next one... unless another tempting birb comes along...
Anyway, that's it for now. Thanks for your time!

If you haven't been able to view my animations click here
Posted 4 years agoFor a while now I've been aware of the fact that not everyone is able to view .webm videos on their devices, but since e6 only allows .webm videos I didn't figure there was much I could do. I'm sure there were some clunky solutions that might have worked but I didn't like the sound of any of them. I just wanted a gallery I could easily toss animations into and call it a day. Then I remembered that for a time I was uploading animations to another site, FurryNetwork, and wondered if it could accept non-webm files, and it looks like it can! So I quickly went through my videos and converted whatever I could immediately find into .mp4 versions and tossed them up here.
https://furrynetwork.com/ruaidri/mu.....ections/30644/
You may have to make an account to view them, I'm not sure. To make looping animations loop you may have to right click the video and manually enable looping, unlike e6 which seems to just do it by default.
If you've already been able to see my animations then there's nothing new for you here, but for those of you who have been unable to view my animations, please let me know if this works! If it does I'll make sure to upload an mp4 version of all new animations here going forward so that everyone can see what I'm doing.
If it doesn't... I guess I'll just be sad. D:
EDIT: Added some thumbnails... some of them are wrong because of mistakes while uploading, and now it won't let me change the thumbnail for some reason. It'll upload the new thumb just fine and then just pop pack to the old one when I hit save, so *shrug*

Taking a model/animation commission!
Posted 4 years agoI do a few different things now, as an artist- traditional art, a little digital art, 3D art and animations, even comics here and there, and I wasn't sure exactly what area I felt like focusing on next so I asked the patreon peeps what they'd like to see via a poll. 3D art/animations look like it's going to win the vote fairly handily, so I guess I'll set up to do some of that!
If you want a model made, with or without an animation, or an animation made using existing models of mine, leave your refs/ideas below! I'm going to let them come in for a month and get started on this early next month, July. The long lead time is so people have time to get their ideas together and save some money. In order to work on such a big project there has to be some pretty heavy interest involved, so I can't think of any other way to handle things than to just take in all the ideas and pick whatever tickles me most, so that'll be the selection method.
Rules 'n stuff below:
Prices in USD (the invoice may come in CAD, but I'll make sure the cost to you is the same or lower than written)
Payment via paypal!
A model made from scratch is $1K
Animations are 600 per minute for my fully best effort stuff ( example: https://e621.net/posts/2749505 )
Oh, Canadian customers- I'ma have to charge tax as well. Sorry. D:
As prices for these things can get quite large I'm potentially willing to break them up into two or three chunks, assuming they're not spread out over too much time. I don't want to be stuck on the same model for three months. :P If you're willing to pay the whole blast up front be sure to mention it in your comment as it does give you an edge!
Complex accessories or anatomy may add some to the price.
Long, free flowing hair is still most likely a no-go. If your character or idea gives me a super-boner I might be willing to give it my best effort so you can still put your ideas here, but I still don't know how to make long hair animateable in a way that isn't awful, so unfortunately it will reduce your chances. D: If your character has long flowing hair but you're willing to change that for the model, be sure to mention it!
Models are made in blender for use specifically in blender, designed with animation in mind (not realtime/game engines!). Some models might be able to be adapted but I know nothing about the process and won't be able to help you- if you want a model for that kind of situation, proceed at your own risk!
By default I make models with a .1 unit scale (10x "real" size) as this makes physics behave better, but if for some reason you want this different it can be adjusted.
I think that's all the important stuff- if I've forgotten anything I'll add it below this section so you can see at a glance what got added. If I pick your idea we'll go over everything one last time before committing just to make sure we're on the same page. So yeah, that's all... comment with those refs and ideas if you're interested!

Taking another 3D commission!
Posted 5 years agoAlright, there's a sudden influx of people asking about this now since I just posted an animation. I didn't plan on setting this up quite yet, but with all the interest I might as well gopher it I suppose! I'll be starting this sometime early next month, around the beginning of December, so people will have lots of time to get their comments in.
As before, due to the long timescales involved in 3D work I can't do something like first come/first serve or random draw, I can't risk ending up having to model a character I don't find appealing or interesting so the only method I can think of is just picking whatever interests me most, so that'll be the drawing method.
For the price, due to animation taking longer and longer as I get better at it, I'm going to give it a tiny bump. This way I can keep striving for better work instead of having to dial it back for speed. Gonna go $1600US for a model and a 1 minute animation- I can add an existing model as a second character to the animation for free if you want, just so I don't always end up doing solo animations. But solo is still perfectly viable if that's what you're after!
Here's my last few animations so you have an idea what kind of quality to expect:
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/39195409/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38758692/
If you're interested, leave a comment below with a link to a reference of whatever character you'd want to see a model made of, and a description of what you'd like to see them doing, including setting if possible. I am open to discussing the idea of more/less animation or making multiple models or whatever, this is just a base cost to give a starting point. Just let me know what you're after in your comment and we can discuss price! While I'm open to the idea of taking payment in a few pieces, it's very convenient to get it all over with early so I can just work at my own pace, so let me know what kind of payment schedule you're willing to work on- I have to admit if you're willing to just throw it all at me upfront it's definitely a boost in your odds.
Hrmm.... I think that covers everything important. Yeah, if interested, comment below!

Taking a 3D model/animation commission!
Posted 5 years agoAlright! I've been promising people I'd be opening up for one of these soon, and with the completion of that last monthly painting my schedule is free and it's time to get the process started.
So, let's talk method first. When working in 2D it seems most artists have a system in place to determine who they work for- either first come first serve, or random draw, or my personal weird mess of waiting list + random draw. This makes sense because 2D turnarounds are pretty quick so you don't have to be super picky about what you do. However, 3D timescales are pretty long, so none of those methods are really an option here. It can take well over a month to make a 3D model and animation, and I just can't work on something I'm not interested in for that long. It wouldn't be fun and the work would suffer.
I've been wracking my brain for a long time trying to figure out how to square these issues away, but eventually just made peace with the fact that there's no 'fair' option that'll work here. Since I can't risk a 'random' option, I've decided that the method I'm going to use to determine who I work for when taking 3D commissions is going to have to be me just picking whatever interests me most.
Soooo, with that said! I'm feeling like taking on a commission to make a 3D model, and an animation of that model somewhere in the 45 second-1 minute range, because it would be a shame to make a nice model and never violate them. :P For the price, 1500 US. Since it's a bit of a big number I'm willing to take payment in a few pieces, but keep in mind as a butt covering measure I only work up to the amount covered, so you won't see the finished product until the full amount comes in.
If you're interested, leave a comment below with refs of the character you'd want me to make a model of, and a description of what you'd like to see them doing for the animation. I'm willing to toss in one of my existing models as a second character for free if you like, mainly because almost nobody ever will get two models at once and I don't want to be stuck doing solo animations all the time. Solo ideas are fine of course! Just saying it's an option.
Quick note- if you've already got a model from me and you're interested in a new animation, maybe toss your ideas in here too; we'll see how I'm feeling after this one, but I might want to jump into another animation!
Payment will be via paypal, all my usual do's-and-dont's apply, blah blah blah. If interested, comment below, refs and idea, go go go! :3 I'll leave this up for a few days and then pick from the available options. I'll toss up another quick journal to let everyone know who I went with.

My characters
Posted 5 years agoIf for some reason you want to use one of my characters in some art somewhere, feel free. All I ask is that you try to keep them in character, and toss my name out in the description somewhere wherever it's posted- and if you do make anything or have anything made, shoot a link my way so I can see! :D
And if nothing else, this can be a useful collection of all my characters in one place, which is still handy so why not, right? So here's a list of the main ones, plus a little information about them to help keep them in character.
Syandene: Up for anything. Dom or sub, top or bottom, gentle loving caress to gasoline powered fucking machine bondage monstrosity. Also, a squirter. Loves anal.
Colours: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/4929137/
Body shape: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35596712/
Gale: The little green chaste fox. Always submissive, too kind for his own good, and perhaps my only character who's strictly into one gender, he's pure gay. Prone to wearing eye shadow and girly clothing. Never -ever- seen outside his cage.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/23782109/
Blue: Gale's master/keyholder. Just a blue wolf, design wise. Bit of a jock/gym rat type, but not douchey about it. Likes to loan gale out to just about anyone, and -really- likes watching what happens when he does.

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29230161/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/32923807/
Nidhala: Hardly needs introducing at this point: She's the excitable pink lizard that owns, operates and builds machines for the Museum of Sexual Exploration.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38185824/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/44469608/
Adhina: Bisexual Femboy birb who's shy about his feet. Has a weird habit of getting strapped into milkers.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37866795/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/42278208/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/45542955/
Cinnamon: Gentle dom bunny. Not really meant to be a full on 'dominatrix', but more likes the leading role in bedroom activities, but she's been known to strap on the fishnet stockings and corset now and then. Also owns and operates a bakery!
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26593177/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/27362684/
BJ: Bluejay. Hangs around at the museum a lot, either as a display or toying with the other displays. Happy to sub or dom.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/43704507/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31879780/
Runolfur: Don't know much about this guy yet... bi, switch, down for just about anything it seems.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/45661213/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/44232343/
Vanilla: Very short fox with an equally short temper. Not mean, just a fireball. Has a taste for men waaaay too big for her.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/28325288/ (The flower is a recent addition so the other ref doesn't have it, but don't forget to include it! It's literally the only thing that separates her, otherwise being a generic fox)
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/27359679/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/28338883/ (VERY short. Though the guy in this picture is probably over seven feet tall, so not quite as short as it looks.)
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26175860/ (Work outfit)
Lizard slave: Willing slave to... someone? Maybe everyone. Obviously extremely submissive, should almost always be in bondage.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26696091/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/31250522/
Hummingbird: Very shy. Very very shy. Not the type to take a dominant role in things.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/21131415/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/21091826/
Lizard slave, male edition: see above. Basically the same but with more permanent bondage. The lizard slaves are siblings.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35648027/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/34804788/
BFCT: Big fuckin' cat thing. Definitely enjoys domming some subby little creature but also secretly enjoys feeling helpless from time to time.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33492471/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33489948/
Tahlia: Tall, mostly subby maned wolf.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/47744988/
Hypnolizards: Need no introduction! Just remember, they're not sentient, at least not like we are. You can't work with them, since anyone near by gets drawn in. They don't make plans to catch us at certain times or places, and they don't take part in sexual acts directly since they wouldn't understand the significance of sex anyway. They just use us as a funnel for fun feelings, inducing pleasure (whether the victim likes it or not) and 'sharing' the good feelings through some poorly-explained psychic connection or something. I'm not even sure they can help it themselves, I think of them seeing us almost like a cat sees catnip- they get too close and fun things just start happening.
About the size of a house cat.
It's fins and the gem on it's head can be any colour.

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35648027/
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/20801504/
Rasa: Formerly a highly educated but cruel scientist with no regard for the well being of her subjects, her experiments on a hypnolizard have gone awry resulting in her mind being wiped and replaced by the will of the little critter. It seems to have picked up some of her psychopathy and now uses it's hypnotic powers to satisfy it's perverse desires with little regard for now it's victims feel about the matter.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/44509057/
Serena: Adorkable ferret
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/48621759/
Chase: Chaste femmy horse, under orders never to use his bits for his own pleasure, only for the satisfaction of others
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49673570/
Ash: An older classy gent, dominant in nature.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49494576/
B1R-D13: Robotic birb pleasure bot thingy!
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49850603/
Chinchilla: Chinchilla
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/43038121/
I think that's everyone that anyone might want art of, though if you find someone you want me to add for some reason, let me know and I will.

Commissions from the List of Doom [FULL]
Posted 8 years agoAll spots taken, thanks. :3
Pricing, no-fly list, what to expect when commissioning.
Gonna take on some more commissions from my waiting list: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5499391/ If you're not on there, please keep an eye out for non-list-related openings! If you are, and you're looking for a commission, leave a comment below. :3 Will leave this open for a little bit, and then pick out the people that are highest up on the waiting list. If I don't get enough people from the list I'll fill it out with outsiders, so you're welcome to drop a comment even if you aren't on the list, but don't expect too much, sorry!

Cute Doodles
Posted 8 years agoI recently did this sketch - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24433136/ and I had a lot of fun doing so. Even more than I was expecting! In fact, I kind of want to do some more doodles of cute things.
So, I propose the following. You leave a reference of your cute critter in the comment section, and include a description of what cute thing they should be doing. If your idea grabs my attention, we exchange about 10 bucks for a sketch, and everybody is happy!
These won't be first come first serve, I'm feeling a bit picky so I'll probably just pick a few that sound particularly adorable, so please don't be upset if I end up not going with what ya give me. I might be perfectly fine doing it on another day! But don't be afraid to try, 'cause you never know! So comment below. Ref and idea. Let's go!

Taking Commissions (spots filled)
Posted 8 years agoSpots have been filled, thank you!
Time to take some commissions from the list again! I'll be taking 10 spots, as per usual. I'll let you choose between acrylics and watercolours. Just be aware that I'm still sorta learning when it comes to acrylics! Prices are as follows:
Watercolours - 70 to start, 50 for additional characters, 50 for a BG.
Acrylics - 100 per character, backgrounds will vary but go up to around 80 or so.
Prices in CAD, paypable via Paypal.
To get in this time around, your name must be on this list. I'll leave this journal up for a few days, and then pick from whoever is highest up on the list. You'll get a note from me. If you don't, it means you didn't get in this time but feel free to try again next time!
If your name is not on the list, don't worry- I take side openings so you'll get other chances on other days, but this time around I need to whittle down the list a bit more so I'm taking from that today! If you are on it but feel you're too far down to bother, I strongly recommend you reconsider- most of the people who get in these days are 400 or so spots down, so it's always at least worth a shot!
For anyone curious, I have a silly long list because years ago I had the idea to simply open up a waiting list and just leave it open. If figured it would get to a certain length and then cap off as everyone who wanted a picture would be on the list. But it just sorta kept growing... it never stopped. I eventually had to shut it down. I'll continue working from it for as long as people who are on it keep signing up to these journals, though, so hopefully we'll get through a good chunk of it!
