In 'bout a week it's another anniversary here in this part of the underworld of fur affinity.

I guess in retrospect to what happened in this time I had, the reception of the community of me is better than I expected. Knew popularity wasn't in the air since there's no color or stuff that would tantalize the majority... basically thought that I was going to give up in the first few months to tell you all honestly.

But to tell the truth, I don't know much of why I did anything when thinking these last two years, why the hell i chose illustration when a better animator could make... why two similar talents get very different exposures ... and some other questions that are chosen to not be disclosed at this moment.

I just don't know anymore.

Well because of the retirement of one large scanner at school, I am afraid the castle series is postponed until further notice. So so young... :/ But i have another use for the other account  dungeonkoopa... I'll just drop all of the nintendo related stuff there. The other stuff comes here. Oh well. That's all.

Hah! Spring break is over for myself so... it was nice while it lasted. I done not a whole lot during it except 3 drawings, a lot of rough pose sketching and some observational stuff ... and job stuff.

Took a shot at brawl, it was pretty good, did not warrant 1/2 the hype that it got in anticipation. Really, people should chill about insigificant stuff like this. If people were that hyped in anticipation of their future instead of Brawl, what a different world we would be in... ... Played as Sonic, thought that there's a lot of Blanka's and Cammy's moves that were integrated. ... oh well.

Well. It's just about february already, eh? Hah! I am too cold to remember that. Anyways a lot has happened during the last 2 weeks ago...

I started to get some work so now I don't really need any commissions. Hah! I get really nervous about them so... yeah.

School has gotten me into a noose right now, it really seems a lot more intense this time around. One will survive this!!

My mother has gotten laid off. She has severance pay though, and is planning on getting back to school for a master's, I think. Hah! She surely is practicing what she preaches.

Well. It's back to pushing for a BFA. The month off has been pretty peaceful, yet worrysome at the same time. Oh well, life's too short, nature's too finicky, yeah.

Well, I've been on break for a week now, and well, I quickly knew that my role would probably be that of "That dude that draws the funny stuff" in school so... yeah that's now my role in this art school, being inexperienced and all. The work has improved, and I surely have experienced some things that I would like to expand on, yet there's that money problem again. Oh well.

Well, I don't know if I will do much if anything with this account during break unless someone would pay for a drawing or two, I will probably try and finish this first comic with the comic account,  dungeonkoopa so that's kind of the scoop of what I'll be doing for a little while.

How have you been?

For quite a while, I have been asked if I can do digital. Well, the answer I usually give is no and by hearing that, people usually would ask why.

That, for me is a simple yet a gut wrenching reason. I simply can't buy the supplies needed nor know anyplace that I can go to really practice drawing or painting with a tablet. Hell, I don't have a computer to call my own! I've been using school equipment for everything that is brought on the internet so far, and it looks like I'll have to stay with it for at least 6 months. It is the stone cold truth –

yet that doesn't keep me from looking around, seeing all the really stunning work out here, thinking to myself, "How the hell did I get anyone out here? All I got are some stinkin' pencils and pens and paints!!" for real, I wish that i can do stuff like ya'll, seriously. It would be fun to get in on the action.

Wow. It's the middle of September already. This year is going fast. I can remember when a year seemingly lasted forever. I think it's the notion that the older you get, time starts to fly by.

There is really nothing going on here with me. I was just starting to feel homesick. I think it is anxiety or something concerning about school and work. ... Speaking of school,

The school's okay. It keeps me busy that's for sure. I sure have some sort of feel of what people want as far as the work. I don't know what else to say...

If I cannot get a job by October, I'll cut commission prices from $25 to $12 starting, only I'll keep the original. I seriously need to find a way to pay the rent. :/

Well, I have been in Milwaukee for a week now and this city has really changed. There are a whole bunch of little boutiques and art galleries around the school. The school is pretty laid back, too. I gotta see more in order to say more about MIAD. Since there isn't much that has been said accross the national spectrum which is expected because not a lot of folks see the city with chicago around and stuff.

I'm just doing fine. It's going to be a challenge finding a larger scanner than letter (I was doing things on a legal size scanner) so there won't be any good uploads until I find or buy one... I'll try to get some art uploaded as soon as I can.

After friday... I won't be here or on devart. I don't know when I'll return, but it's a safe bet I'll come back before 2008.

I'll be moving my stuff on a 1200 mile adventure to Wisconsin from Texas. I'll be going to an art school in Milwaukee. I was thinking about the West Coast (California to be specific), but with the circumstances I got into financially, it ended up to be a pipe dream. :

Really I can't let you go without explaining a bit about myself so that you all won't think I am a robot or something...

Who am I?

My name is Gene Davis. Was born in Milwaukee, WI in the United States (believe me, they ask where is Wisconsin) on Nov. 27, 1982. For the time being I live with my mother in Spring, Texas. About 10 miles north of Houston. I have been living in the Houston area for 5 and a half years. Black Male, fairly average build, maybe, 2 small scars on the face from the football helmet @ age 17, and from a golf club @ age 10.

What do I do?

I work study at the local community college. I was schooling there @ 19, but I couldn't get the money needed, so I worked odd jobs until a car accident put me back to school for sp/06 semester. Used to goof off at school then ... now is more of a different story. Majoring in Illustration or something like that. Going to art school in a month to pursue that bachelor's.

My art?

I started by regularly tracing sonic and the gang when I was 10. It was just something that I did to stay out of fights and other kinds of trouble (sketchy neighborhoods). Went on to do them freehand a year later. Started with a lot of other things I saw on tv while sliding in middle school, the first of too many original characters as a freshman in high school ... but most of what you see now has been developed while I was working, drew at breaks and on the job (sometimes), drew until 1 or 2 in the morning, that kind of stuff.

Any Net experience?

I tried a couple of times to upload imy art on the web, failing both times, but I used to be a long-time lurker at places like yerf and artail. To tell you the truth, I thought I didn't stand a chance out here in the net. Hell, I expected to get ridiculed into leaving. Not critique, just straight up waxing me on the floor. Certainly not being watched by some of the folks that I have been watching since I was 15. For real, I thank each and everyone of you for putting up with me. I haven't thought and still don't think that I am good enough for anybody's attention, so hell I don't know what you or the art schools see in my lineart and stuff, but I appreciate that you see somthing

To tell the truth, things have been pretty rough this month of June.

There has been a e-mail at my mother's job that pretty much slanders a bunch of folks. It has been found out that whomever mailed that was using a thought to be shut down server that was used, amoung other things, running an internet gambling ring. Her old boss who got fired a week after she was hired, was into the act.

The company actually sent people to watch any activity, catching the perpetraitors red-handed. Now these IT professionals, previously making US $60 - 100k a year have their careers ruined. I feel sorry for their families. These guys were too greedy and arrogant to think about what would happen to their family if they would get caught... now they are about to try and avoid a ticket to prison.

Me?

As usual in the summer, my financial state is that of wilting. Desperation is not set in as of yet, but there is reason that I should be concerned ... I do not need any pity about this, since I had worse situations, like last year, I was jobless, penniless, $850 in debt and a $250 fine cause some cop didn't like my tags while I was trying to look for work... I survived that... I shall survive this.

Also, as usual in the summer, my emotional state has been that of anxiety. The fact that one is finally going to take the jump to the future, I do not know if that is going to be a jump to the next level, or falling straight on my ass somewhere in the abyss again. Of course I shall try to get back up from the abyss if the latter happens yet, I just don't know... I just do not know.
