New Band
General | Posted 4 weeks agoI haven't been active here, or in the fandom, for several years now. I pop in just to clear submissions, watches, favs and such. That said, after a long hiatus from music, I felt the itch, and got into a newly formed band, called, Solmere. We are 'reggae adjacent'. We cover some reggae tunes, and rework other songs, in the rock / pop / indie - alternative genres into reggae. We're a 'good vibes' type of band. In these troubling times, we need something positive in our lives. Yeah, 'POSITIVITY' coming from the cynical, angry wah. LOL
So, a heads up to anyone in the Western MA, Eastern CT area. We are holding our first gig in Turners Falls, MA at The Rendezvous, 78 3rd Street, on Saturday, November 15th. Show starts at 9:30pm. There is a $10 suggested cover charge. It all goes to the band.
Just so you know, they do serve good food, but it's on the pricy side. Average hamburger is $15+.
I figured I'd let you know if anyone would like to come see us. Truth be told, I'm really not expecting anything to come out of this post. I'm just giving anyone who may be interested an Angry Wah update.

In Desperate Need Of Help.
General | Posted a year agoI was pretty reluctant about posting this here, but I'm out of options and in desperate need of help. My van needs its cylinder heads replaced. I came to find out it was a problem with this particular engine. It has less than 84K miles on it. I still owe over $3K on the loan and have had the van barely 5 years. I tried every avenue, from the dealership, Dodge directly and my bank, as well as a few others and I'm forced to do a friggin' Go Fund Me for help. It sucks. It's my only mode of transportation.
So, here is my desperate plea for help. If you could follow the link below and donate, It would mean a great deal to me. If you can't donate, copy the link and share it on all of your social media platforms. This is my last ditch effort to get it fixed.
PLEASE, I'm begging you all. I'll be forever grateful.

Anthro New England Bound...
General | Posted 2 years agoJust a heads up, I will be at Anthro New England. My guitarist and I will be doing a drum / guitar duo of songs from our band, Alabaster Sons. We are opening 'Animal Music 5' on Friday afternoon at 3pm in the main ballroom.
I will also be hosting a panel called "Convention Performers Professional Protocol". It will take place in the Webster room on Sunday at noon. I'll be discussing the ins & outs of convention performance. The do & don'ts. What to expect & professional conduct. Basically, if you are a performer in any field, be it music / band / singer / musician, comedian, dancer, theater / skits, this will help you be prepared, to know what to expect and what is expected of you. All of this information will apply in every aspect of the performing arts, in and outside of conventions. All are welcome.
Hope to see you there...

No Gig Tomorrow.... Bummer.
General | Posted 2 years agoLooks like my band will NOT be playing tomorrow night at Husky's Pub in Worcester. Our singer was admitted into the hospital. Nothing serious, but she'll be out of commission for a few days. A real bummer.
My Band Is Playing In Worcester!
General | Posted 2 years agoI haven't posted here in awhile. Just a heads up for those not following me on Twitter, Mastodon or Facebook....
My band, Alabaster Sons, will be performing at Husky's Pub in Worchester, MA this Saturday night.
Doors open at 7pm, bands start at 8pm. I believe we are the opener, going on first. If you live in the area and are over 21, come check us out. NO COVER!

Rest In Peace, Brian Harp.
General | Posted 3 years agoI just learned Brian Harp, also known as
jace passed away. He was one of the earliest names and artists I was exposed to discovering the furry fandom. I only met him a couple of times in my decades evolvement in the fandom, but both times he was super nice. If there is a list of legacy artist of the furry community, his name is on it.

Need A Room For ANE???
General | Posted 3 years agoI'm currently in a room share with a friend for Anthro New England. We have space for 2 more if you are looking for a room in the main hotel. Your share of the money will be due before the con via Paypal. The space is guaranteed. No BS. We have it from Thursday through Monday. If you are interested, message me.
Just so you know, this will be a pretty quiet room. No parties.
Cheers!

In Need of a Jazz Pianist and Bassist
General | Posted 3 years agoAre there any pianist / keyboardist or bass players, schooled in jazz, going to Anthro New England? You are needed for an impromptu jazz ensemble for the Sponsor dinner. The band is planned the music isn't. Just a small group of us to jam some quiet jazz for the patrons. Please contact me asap. #AnthroNewEngland
Anthro New England
General | Posted 3 years agoYup. I'll be attending ANE this January, performing with
tonyasong.
I'm still awaiting word on whether or not my band, Alabaster Sons, will also be playing a concert. Another possibility is a small, impromptu jazz ensemble. It was brought up by a fellow musician who is also joining Tonya and myself for her concert. A small group of jazz players to get together and improvise through some standards. Skin of our fangs, so to speak.
I'm hoping for a fun, musical weekend and looking forward to my first convention in several years.
Hope to see you there!

Big Furry Jazz Band AC 2023
General | Posted 3 years agoA good friend and up and coming musician, Techie or Shy Skunk, floated an idea that I think the musicians of the furry community can pull off. A jazz big band made up of fursuit musicians and other non fursuiting musicians for a concert at Anthrocon 2023. We are talking Big Band era ballroom jazz. Ellington, Basie, Calloway, Webb and the lot.
I already have a lot of people interested and I'm compiling a list. We need brass and woodwind horn players. Sax, clarinet, trumpet ect.. Singers would be great. We already got Beeton Raccoon. I'd like to get at least 2 others for some vocal compositions. Keyboardists, maybe a jazz guitarist would also be welcome. Being able to read music a plus, BUT you must be able to play your instrument well. I can't stress that enough. You will be among intermediate and pro players. Mostly pros.
I'm trying to start this as early as possible because it is a big undertaking and we need to make up a set list of songs, learn them on our own before the convention, coordinate horn parts so when we do get together at the con, we will at least know the structures and individual parts, then fine tune at rehearsal, that is if we get a rehearsal. LOL Skin of our fangs baby! ^^
I will be setting up a Telegram group for this project so we can all chat, shell out parts and work on compiling a set list. Remember, this is for any furry musician, fursuit or not, who has roots in jazz or is well versed in jazz.
I've posted on Twitter. You can find me Runtt1 or WeAreOneBand.
Hope to hear from you.

Life In The Co-Op back in print?
General | Posted 3 years agoA German company, called Fenris Publishing, bought Rabbit Vally Comics. They just tagged me in a tweet announcing they were reprinting my comic, "Life In The Co-Op" and it is available for preorder. This is really cool. They feel it's worth a reprinting. Apparently someone over there likes it. ^^ Who knows? Maybe this will spark interest in an artist who will want to pick up the mantle and continue where El Diman let off? New "Life In The Co-Op" issues? We'll see.
Rest In Peace, Wild Bill Texas...
General | Posted 4 years agoI Knew Wild Bill on line for awhile before I met him in person. He was one of the first people to send me photos he took of me in fursuit. We built a friendship over the years until I finally met him in person. He was a super nice guy and truly a staple photographer in the furry community. Hearing of his passing hits hard for me. He and I talked old school records and rock and roll. We loved our music. He was a HUGE supporter of
hali
and myself. The furry community won't be the same without him.

General | Posted 4 years agoI just found out a dear friend passed away. Loren Mc Laughlin aka Calamity Cougar aka Jugular Jaguar aka Draconis.
I first officially met Loren at AC 2005. Before then I knew him as Jugular Jaguar. Always the character. Super funny guy. Later he and I became friends. I participated in some of his performance panels and shows. Always the promoter. He did so much for the furry community. This is a great loss. He was a true original and will be dearly missed.
Rest in peace, my good man...

Vaccine #1 achieved.

Hooch needs your help.
General | Posted 5 years agoHooch is the lovable doof of a dog of my mom's. He absolutely loves his stuffed animals to the point that he'll happily show them all off to you and also sleeps with them in his mouth. His tail never stops wagging.
I'm heartbroken to hear that he's got a bad hip and can't imagine a world without this bumbledog in it.
Please help out if you can with a donation or signal boosting this as much as you can so that we can hopefully give Hooch another 8 years with his stuffies.
Follow the link below to donate or signal boost or both. Every little bit helps.

Political Rant
General | Posted 5 years agoIf the Black Lives Matter movement make you feel like an insecure, evil white person, you are part of the problem. You will go to great lengths to prove you are not bad, not a racist or lash out at the movement claiming black people want a free ride. That is NOT what it's all about. It's about equality. You can be fearful, get angry and attack, or you can stand together with them and change things. I choose to stand with them and together make things right.
A Farewell To Kings....
General | Posted 6 years agoWow. At a loss for words.
Neil Peart is one I wouldn't have expected to pass so early. My introduction to Rush was in a small pile of records given to me by a friend of my brother's, Michael Gabriel. In the pile was Journey "Escape", Adam And The Ants "Prince Charming" and a few others, but "Moving Pictures" really struck a chord. I never heard anything that sounded like them. The drumming stood out, obviously. Still in the infancy of drumming, I was deep into playing drums and learning. I was like, "WHO THE HELL IS THIS GUY??!!!" My intro to progressive rock had begun. It's because of Rush I started in on Jethro Tull and Yes. My drumming changed dramatically the more I immersed myself in more complicated music. Still, I took a left turn into punk, but steered back into prog, jazz and fusion once that bug wore off. I saw Rush 7 times. Every time they brought something new and exciting to the stage. Ever changing their sound. They never got boring. Neil is the primary reason I play the way I do today. FUCK We're going to miss you.
