Warning About An Artist
General | Posted 7 years agoI don't like doing this, but I feel people should be warned.
Back in May, I saw a cool piece done by a really good artist and decided to get a commission. Paid upfront, was promised I'd have the finished piece within two weeks. That was over three months ago. I tried noting the artist several times with no response, so, here's a heads up to anyone thinking of commissioning this person.
The artist is
NicoNicoNii
Commission at your own risk.
I filed a dispute with Paypal. Hopefully I can get my $45 back.

Sexy Dance Type Tune
General | Posted 7 years agoI have an idea for a fun, sexy, dance type tune, but wonder if it would fit with the tone of my album. It would definitely lighten the moodiness of it. Thoughts?
I have a song question for you all...
General | Posted 7 years agoMost know of my song "Welcome". It became a sort of underground hit in the furry community. Really big with the European furs. There are 2 versions. My original and the 2005 version I recorded with friends. The song lyrics are of a personal nature and features an old friend who had a group called The Furry Forest. Hence the subtitle "Furry Forest Theme Song".
Here's the question, should I record it a third time and alter the lyrics to be more in general to the furry community and less about an individual?
I have alternate lyrics for when, HOPEFULLY, my band plays it live. Should I record it with the updated lyrics?

Nazi Furs F#@K OFF! song parody w/ Pepper Coyote
General | Posted 7 years agoI guess I can tell you all of a little project
peppercoyote and I started working on, since he just tweeted about it. LOL
Pepper asked me if I'd be interested in recording drums for a Dead Kennedys song parody of "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" titled "Nazi Furs Fuck/Heck Off". And, I said, "FUCK YEAH!" (There are 2 versions. The 'G' rated one "Heck Off" and the 'R' rated one "Fuck Off").
Apparently there is a small uprising of, so called, 'Nazi' furs in the fandom. Yeah, my thoughts exactly. The words Nazi and Furry, together in the same sentence in an itself is the essence of hilarity. But, nonetheless, it's true. ><
So, before I started work on my music, I laid down drums and guitar for the parody. It is identical to the DK's version in speed, grit and structure. Took me 2 takes for the drums. "Why?", you ask, because my kick drum mic moved and all the bottom end went away for about 15 seconds of the song. I can play this song in my sleep. I played this song with the Dead Kennedys way back in the mid 80s when they graced Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel and Peligro (DK's drummer) was late.
I was just given the version with Pepper alone on vocals. He uploaded it to his Patron account. The final version will have your's truly helping with the backing vocals.
When it's officially released, PLEASE buy it.
All the proceeds will go to ALS research.
A fun song for a good cause.

This Song Is Still Heartbreaking.
General | Posted 7 years agoStarted more work on a song called "26 Years" today. It's about the death of my nephew. Very sad, very angry. A way for me to deal with his loss. I added some organ in, then worked on a brass section and couldn't get through it. Reading the lyrics I wrote, referencing where the horns should come in, broke me. I literally broke down. Had to stop.
I thought by making the music uplifting, like a lullaby, it would help. It didn't. Actually made it worse. I eventually managed to get the parts recorded, but I don't know if I'll be able to sing it. It is unspeakably heartbreaking.

1st Song In The Mixing Stage!
General | Posted 7 years agoMy friend and former band mate, Rowan Bishop, owner and operator of Garage Mahal Recording Studio is, right now, mixing the the first completed song of the solo album I'm working on. A cover of Utopia's, "One World", featuring me on drums, keyboard, lead vocals and guitar, the amazing
Peppercoyote tag teaming lead vocals and singing all backing vocals, the equally super talented
rhubarbthebear who can play EVERYTHING, on bass and a guitar solo by another great musician, who, along with Rhubarb, will be part of the fursuit band I'm putting together,
Tchalchal
If I didn't have a gig today, I'd be locked in the basement recording more tracks. I have 7 complete songs, waiting on parts from other players, a sketch I'm working on and a possible re-working of an old tune I had played with several former bands. My creative juices are flowing, and this is the motivation I need to get things DONE. Can't wait to hear it. Should have a first draft by mid week.

Full Fursuit Band
General | Posted 7 years agoQuestion; If this happens, will you come support us?
I think I started a project that could snowball into something of epic proportions. A full fursuit band. I've gathered several musicians, who can play and sing fluidly in fursuit. They play as well as I can play drums in one. My goal is to play concerts at conventions, record and sell original music with a cover tossed in here and there. I have a guitarist who sings, a singer who can play other instruments, such as drums and guitar, a bass player and a multi instrumentalist on keyboards, bass and various wind instruments, such as sax, and flute. A lizard, a dragon, a fox and an opossum. I will be trading off drums to sing, maybe play a little guitar. Who knows. But, I'm really excited. There may even be a quartet of a cappella singers to front and do back up. I'm working on that as we speak. Really hope they join the project. It's called "We Are One". My goal is to put together a 55 minute concert of original music with a cover or two thrown in, and debut at Anthrocon 2019. Wish me luck!

Music Happening.
General | Posted 7 years agoJust finished base tracks for another song. The cover song of Utopia's "One World" is almost complete. Needs a guitar solo and waiting still on the vocals for the third verse.
peppercoyote sings the second verse, I sing the first. Seeing if He would like to do a trade off for the third if the person I asked doesn't come through. Need to rerecord drums and piano for this other song. After revisiting it, it needs something. A higher key as well. Thats four in the works now.
Doing all this and battling depression is very hard. There are times when I just don't want to look at an instrument. Being out of practice on everything except drums, doesn't help either. Took me three hours just to figure out the chords and structure on this last tune. Then practicing it over and over again, 20 takes later, I got something decent to build on.
My goal is to have the tracks ready for mixing December, mastered and then released before AC next year, which I plan to attend and possibly play a concert with 3 other fursuiter musicians.
Here's for hoping.

Weight Loss: Trying To Get back On Track
General | Posted 7 years agoI needed to start losing weight. My knees suck and being heavy doesn't help. Started on a fasting thing called Fastblast. You do it twice a week. Drink 6 pouches of this organic smoothie through the course of the day, training you to eat in small intervals daily. So far, I did one day on Monday. I weighed in at 268lbs. Today I'm at 263lbs. I fast again tomorrow. I may do this for a couple of months. The idea is to jumpstart your metabolism and help you learn how to eat and eat better.
Attention BOSTON Furs...
General | Posted 7 years agoA dear friend of mine will be in need of a place to live after the summer. She is a transgender woman and super nice person. The sublet she is living in will no longer be available, and living on one's own in Boston is near impossible with how expensive housing is. If you have a room to rent, in need of a roommate or housemate, PLEASE contact me. LGBTQ friendly.
Thank you!

Album, Myself Or Band?
General | Posted 7 years agoWorking on this album, I already have a title. it will be called "Eulogy" since a lot of it is me dealing with the loss of my nephew. The question is, should it be released as 'Runtt' or should I use a band name? I always liked the name "Mange!". Been wanting to use it as a fursuit band name for a long time. Thoughts?
New Music. Are You Interested?
General | Posted 8 years agoI really need to start back recording new stuff. There was an attempt last year, but it fell short. I wasn't liking what was happening and I really do not like DAWs on computer. I miss my awesome all in one unit. My idea is to record tracks, ask guest musicians to add their talents and have the songs mixed and mastered professionally. This would lead to an actual CD, maybe an LP. Would you buy it???? Would you support my efforts as most do Fox Amoore, Pepper Coyote and Matthew Ebel?
I ask this because I'm in a funk. I have no other projects going on other than a cover band. I'm no longer on the bill with Matt Ebel and getting to cons to play with Fox and Pepper are up in the air. I would like to be able to get this original music recorded and possibly played with other fursuit musicians at cons.
I'd like to know before I sink a lot of money into it.
What are your thoughts?

Artist Needed For A Tribute To My Late Nephew
General | Posted 8 years agoI don't usually get this personal on forums or social media, but I feel, if I'm ever going to start healing mentally, I have to get this out in some form.
This year there were many deaths in my family. Both of my brothers died within a couple of months of each other and one of my aunts a week later. But, the universe wasn't finished. It decided to give me a huge kick in the gut. My nephew, a fellow musician and a person I considered my baby brother died of an overdose. He was 26 years old. He was also the founder, lead singer, guitarist and primary song writer for the doom metal band Pilgrim. Signed to Metal Blade Records with 2 full length albums under his belt and worked with Jon Schnepp, animator of Metalacalypse, who produced his band's first video. He toured the world. Further than I have gone in music. But, he, like me, suffered from depression. His went further. He was schizophrenic. Heard voices. To cope he used heroin because he couldn't afford medication. We had a unique relationship. A bond shared by musicians. Road stories. Venue mishaps. Spinal tap moments. He was such a quiet, meek kid. But, FUCK could he play guitar and sing. A few weeks before his death we discussed doing a recording project together. It's been weeks and i still can't grasp him being gone. I'd like to have a commission made as a tribute to him with my fursona.
I'm not asking for a freebie, just a really good artist that can do this justice.
If you got this far, thank you for taking the time to read it.

My Brother's Passing
General | Posted 8 years agoAt 9:24pm this evening my brother, Michael, passed away of pancreatic cancer. He was only a few years older than me. I have to admit I never got along with him, but it still hurts losing a family member, especially one who had only just reached middle age. A lot of mixed feelings going through my head. Most for my nephew, Johnathan and my mother, who has been dealing with this directly, and taking care of him. Tomorrow I leave for RI for the 3rd time in 2 weeks to lend my support. Not much else to say....
Texas Furry Fiesta Here I Come!

hali and I back as musical guests. We'll be playing a set of mostly new stuff from the new album to be released in May, as well as some old favorites. Can't wait to see everyone. I'm flying out of Bradley Airport on Thursday.

NEW MUSIC!
General | Posted 9 years agoI finally have everything I need and just cranked out a new tune. It's unfinished, but it's nearly complete. I just wanted to share the progress. I played all the instruments in real time to a click, which you can hear through the guitar pick ups. LOL Lots of Cursing, cursing, cursing, profanity, cursing, profanity and more cursing. BUT, I got through it. I'll be doing vocals shortly and try to find someone to record a guitar solo, since I'm NOT a guitarist. Then I'll add effects and EQs. So, enjoy this rough mix instrumental.
The name of the song is "What You Do To Me". Link is below.

General | Posted 9 years agoOkay. I recently purchased a nice amp / cab molder and effects unit. A Vox Valvetronix Tonelab. With this staring at me, I will now be taking my guitar to be cleaned and set up with new strings. I will be cranking out music right after the holidays.
Cheers!
Don't forget, I am on Airbags offering my services as a drummer. If you need real drums recorded for your project, look me up. I'm very affordable.
