Posted 12 years agoI hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a fun/happy New Year! This time of year shouldn't be just about gifts and cool stuff...while those are all icing on the cake, it should be more about being with loved ones and taking pleasure in remembering the good that has happened throughout the year. Don't dwell on the bad. Instead, shove it all into the empty boxes leftover after Christmas, and leave it out on the curb for the next day's trash :P Stay safe, drink plenty of eggnog, and give the special people in your lives a hug :)

I got there Thurs around 3:30pm, and met up with
keirin and 
shadycreations
After settling in at the Omni and meeting my other roommates
stuntcoyote and 
ashfall101 I headed down to Furnando's to grab something to eat. That evening I met up with megumibish 
mouse187 and 
writhgarde whereas we hung out for a while before going to get more foods.
I basically spent the rest of the con running around aimlessly, buying con-stuff, and hanging out with awesome people. I enjoyed several lengthy talks with
balto in the Dealer's Den, as well as being hugged/carried away by a plum-colored fursuiter that smelled like cotton candy ^_^
Throughout the con, I met and hung out with so many fun and interesting people it was crazy. The raves were fun, the booze was flowing, and the shows were absolutely mind-blowing...especially those of
mighty-creation and the LuciFURs Thank you to all who made this year another awesome year!

But it was so totally worth it! I had a blast hanging out with all of my friends, new and old. I actually think I managed to do just about everything I had planned to do at this con, and then-some.
We rode up Friday morning, getting there around noon. It took a while to actually get into our room, as hotel services were still busy cleaning that floor, but we eventually got settled in after a bit of a wait. Roomates were

After getting back from dinner, I hit the rave where I met up with
s.allen-studios and danced till my side started hurting (bad idea to hit the rave right after a big steak dinner, lol).
Saturday started out a bit iffy (lawl, hangovers :P
But I was doing much better in time for the fursuit parade. After wandering and socializing for a few more hours, I took-in the FNL show, which had me almost rolling out of my chair with laughter. Those guys worked their tails off to put on a show like that, and I can't express my appreciation enough for what they do for our fandom.
After the show, I got a bite to eat downstairs, then headed back to the room after receiving an offer I couldn't refuse. keirin asked me if I wanted to wear his suit to the rave, and being my first chance ever to try on a fursuit, I jumped on the opportunity. Now, I'm a rather small person, so suiting-up in a suit with size 13 feetpaws, I felt like a midget-in-a-trenchcoat. To put things into perspective, I wear a size 8 shoe. I had to use a piece of string to tie the feet-paws to my ankles so they wouldn't slip off while walking. After a confidence boost from everyone, assuring me the suit didn't look too big, I headed downstairs to the rave. Within minutes, I was having the time of my life. I made my way around the dancefloor, dancing with various other furs, and made it my mission to dance with a few non-suiters. It gave me such a good feeling to see their faces light up, I can't even begin to explain. I didn't expect to feel like that. I ended up dancing and suiting around the halls for nearly 4 hours, and by the end of the night, I was sad to have to take it off.
I can't even begin to express my gratitude to Keirin for letting me wear his suit. It has exposed a part of me that I didn't really know I had. I'm definitely hooked, and now, more than ever, I want a suit of my own.
Sunday morning, I hit the dealer's den to have my Norde Guard poster signed by Blotch, then met up with
ludwiggoff 
kwik 
traxer, and 
zoomba to have lunch in the downstairs restaurant. After eating, we all milled around for a while talking, then me and Ludwig headed to the tea room. Being the tea lovers/connoisseurs that we are, we couldn't pass this up. I even ran upstairs and grabbed my own teapot with a tin of green tea leaves to add to the assortment of teas. We stayed there drinking our teas and having wonderful conversation until it was time to shut the room down. I certainly hope this room returns in successive years, because it really is a nice way to sit back and relax with friends, as well as make new ones.
For the rest of the day, I basically ran around and hung out with friends until finally going to dinner and the dead dog rave with Kwik.
Overall, this has been an awesome con for me. Congrats to all of the staff and participants of the con for making this year so fun!

Anthrocon 2011 Post Con Report (Part 2)
Posted 14 years agoOkay, now that I'm back home and somewhat more rested than when I wrote my previous report, I can write something with a little more substance.
Well, like I said, this was my first AC and it was absolutely amazing. I arrived in Pittsburgh Wednsday afternoon with my friends
and 
after having a few flight delays due to to a plane having a broken navigation computer. After checking into the hotel, we decided to take a tour of the hotel to get our bearings and get something to eat at Cory's with our other room mates 
and 
Slowly but surely, furries began inundating the entire city block as the con got underway.
I got lots of great pictures of the town, hotel, and dealer's den, as well as a ton of pics of fursuiters that I'm going to have to sort through to weed out the blurry ones (one thing about photographing furries in their natural habitat...they NEVER STAND STILL :P I need a camera with a faster shutter speed, lol.
When the dealer's den opened to the public, we got a couple of very cute badges and lots of "trinkets" as Sobo likes to call them, lol. I even bid in the art auction and won me a nice original Skulldog painting :)
Loved the masquerade and my hat's off to everyone that participated in the dance competition. You guys rocked and tore that stage up! I love to dance, and perhaps someday I'll be good enough to be up there with you :)
Sunday night was by far, the funnest night of all. It seems I met so many more interesting people that night than all other days combined. I danced until I thought my legs were going to combust, and then hung with as we both went to go cool off and hit the vending machines.
As everything came to a close, we reluctantly retreated back to the rooms to get a few hours of sleep before having to head back home the next day. The flight home was long and gruelling, as we had yet another long delay (first and last time I fly Delta). The only thing I don't think I will miss about Pittsburgh is the food and its prices. I'm finished with eating any variations of sub-sandwiches for the next 6 months, lol.
In closing, Anthrocon was probably one of the most unique experiences of my life, and I can't wait till next year to do it again, so I can see all my friends again, and make even more.
As for now, I think I will host a small post-con party this weekend for my closest friends to help us fight PCD ^_^

This was my first year, and I went into it with a bit of anticipation and anxiety, but I made it to the very end (albeit a little broke and extremely exhausted, lol). I made some wonderful friends, and got tons of pics. It truly was the experience of a lifetime, and I can't wait to do it again next year :)

Went to a rave or two, danced till I thought I was going to die, got lots of commissions from some amazing artists, saw some amazing fursuits, lost lots of sleep, and drank way more than I should have, lol. All in all, it was another fun-filled con and I can't wait for next year.
