I'm so happy and thankful that a place like this exists. I feel like there's a lot of noise out there on the modern internet, and FA always seems like a reprieve from that. Some call the website design dated. I think it's old school in all the right ways, yet still looks like it belongs in this day and age.
I love all the emotional expression, imaginative characters and settings, all the cuties~
Just felt like stating that for the record. Carry on...

RIP Dragoneer and some words in praise of furaffinity.net
Posted a year agoSadly saw the news of Dragoneer's untimely death last night, I offer my deepest condolences to his family and friends. It's truly tragic that is seems he couldn't get the kind of healthcare he needed in a timely manner and without financial devastation. But unfortunately as I myself know all too well, that's just the way it goes here in the leech-infested thing known as the US healthcare system. I'm a born and raised American, but because of my medical condition there are times in my life where I have seriously contemplated emigrating elsewhere just for the healthcare reason alone. There are a whole host of medical conditions that basically are licenses for the US healthcare system of insurance, pharmacy benefit managers, pharmaceutical companies, and other associated miscreants to extort you for life. I'm not optimistic that all of that will ever change much for the better.
With that mini-rant out of the way this is probably the hardest that a death of a non-family member has ever hit me. I never knew nor ever interacted with Dragoneer, but know that he took on a great deal of effort and resources to keep this site afloat for almost 20 years. I feel confident that the staff and admins that are currently on board can keep it going. I do hope that any ownership issues that may pop up because of this can be resolved in a manner that we can all be happy with and have peace with. I would really hope that it can remain independent; I'll likely be getting FA+ in support of that. I don't block any ads on this website (yes even the more recent third party ones that slow it way down). Fur Affinity really is a cozy little slice of heaven, and it has been my online go-to happy place for these past 6 years, apart from the trials and tribulations of real life and even the rest of the modern internet at large. In my opinion this website has done a really good job of maintaining that web 1.0 feel without feeling dated. Big tech hubs like (x)watter and instagram do not compare at all to here. Even DA is really no comparison to here. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it would really suck bad to either lose this place or have it significantly altered. I hope for the best going forward. We'll have to see what the coming weeks and months bring.
Thank you for everything you and the FA team accomplished Dragoneer! You'll be deeply missed.
I love this place and I love all of you! Take care.
