Little Update
Posted a year agoI'm not quite dead! XD
Life has been insanely busy these last couple years, I'm certainly still around here and there occasionally, but I very rarely check FA anymore, and have been far less social than in the past. The best place to reach me is probably Telegram, but even then I don't have a lot of time to chat anymore, and I do feel bad that I can't always respond. Just so much going on, with a new job, new house, and endless amounts of traveling! Even my hobbies have slowed to a halt, which is sad, but hopefully I can resume some of that once all the house renovations are completed (which has taken almost a year at this point, and is nearing completion!) I'm still commissioning art now and then, and have quite a backlog to post, maybe someday I'll get caught up with FA submissions but I'm not expecting to with how slow I am to upload each pic haha. I am considering making a telegram channel to just toss all my commissioned artwork into without much description or info, just so that it's at least visible. Would anyone be interested in that?
Anyway, life keeps moving, and I'm trying my best to make the most of it! Hope you're all doing well :)

Telegram Music Channels!
Posted 4 years agoI've been thinking about ways to share the music I love to a broader audience than just a couple friends here or there, in the hopes of finding others who also enjoy the same genres and bands and things. In addition to that, I wanted an easier way to share new music I discover, as well as new releases that a lot of folks might miss out on. So, I started a couple telegram channels where I'll post new and old songs that I like randomly as I hear them, with links to where you can listen to them, as well as the ability to comment and discuss about each track! I figure telegram channels are the more convenient since just about everyone is using that platform now. Hopefully this way we can find some cool new folks who more closely match musical interests, find some epic new music suggestions, and open up friendly discussion about awesome bands and songs and stuff.
I'll also be posting updates on these channels occasionally when a band is on tour, especially if I'll be going to any of the concerts myself!

Experimental Commission Services Open!
Posted 5 years agoHey all! After a lot of thought and polling, I've decided to open for an experimental kind of commission service! The only difference between normal commissions is that I won't be drawing any original artwork at this time. Instead, I'll be upgrading your unfinished pictures! This could mean turning them into stickers, or upgrading them from a sketch to a lined, colored, finished picture.
The whole concept is still new and experimental for me, so things may change as we try it out and explore the idea. Since doing colors and "stickerizing" and such are fairly easy for me, I figured this would be a great way to motivate my own learning and practice while simultaneously offering something fun and productive to all you lovely folk who've been watching me for so long. Exciting! :D
Currently, as this first batch is a test, I'm only going to be opening 5 slots to begin with, and we'll see how things go from there, and I can get a better idea of how the process works and how long each step takes me.

Posted 5 years agoFor a while, I've toyed with the idea of doing sorts of commissions.. not quite like usual commissions, but more like a cheap service where I'll do photoshop work and stuff. It's mostly a way to encourage myself to do more artsy stuff on a regular basis, which will keep me motivated to practice, learn, and progress! ^.=.^
So, since I'm still a total noob at creating artwork from scratch, I'm instead planning to offer things like a coloring service for sketches or linearts that you already have, and maybe basic shading and backgrounds as well. There's just so many pieces that we wish went beyond a sketch, but the artist has no plans to return to (or it's just too time consuming), whereas it's simple and fun for me to be able to just pull one up and pump out some colors in my spare time.
The other idea I've been planning is a sort of.. "Stickerizing" service, where I'll basically make a telegram sticker for you out of preexisting artwork. That could mean basic cropping for facial expressions/reaction stickers, or more in-depth stuff like pulling a character out of a picture, adding transparency and such, borders, just generally making it work really well as a telegram sticker. I've done this quite a few times for friends, because it's no fun when you're the only one without your own personal sticker set!
Obviously, I'll only do these sorts of works if the original artist of the image I'll be using/modifying gives permission to do so. That is very important, because some artists prefer to do these things themselves, and rightfully so! The last thing I'd want to do is disrespect the incredible artists in our communities.
That said, I want to ask you all, is this something you'd be interested in?
What sort of pricing schemes do you feel would be fair for coloring preexisting sketches / lineart?
And for creating stickers out of preexisting artwork?

Looking for peeps with similar music tastes!

I've had this problem for the longest time where I can't seem to find many others to really talk and share music. Or at least, not music I'm really interested in. Seems most people tend to just generally like music, mostly like the more common/popular bands, or not listen to music much at all.. where I've spent years narrowing down what genres I love and the styles and sounds I enjoy, because music is a huuuuge part of my life. So when I find a track that is absolutely incredible to me, everyone I share it with sorta brushes it off or skips through it and says "it's good". While I'm like geeking out over it XD
And worst of all, I don't really know many who have enough interest to go to concerts and such with me! D:
So I figured I'd throw out some examples of my tastes (and things I'm not so interested in) to see if anyone has matching interests and wants to talk, or possibly go to shows someday!
If there's enough interest I might also make a telegram group or something for music talk/sharing? What do you guys think?
Anyway, I'm just gonna ramble about music for a bit now! I'll try to use mostly bands that are fairly well known as examples.
First and foremost, I really love anything with synthesizers or good piano/keyboard parts, being a keyboardist myself. Metal, electronic, experimental, folk, classical stuff especially with harpsichords, you name it and if it has cool melodies or stuff I could play on a keyboard I'll probably like it!
For metal, I'm really big into European stuff like power metal, melodic death metal, folk metal, progressive metal.. although if it's lacking keyboard-like, synth, or orchestral instruments, I tend to lose interest pretty easy.
I enjoy bands like Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Fairyland, Kamelot, Rhapsody, Dragonland, Pain, Kiuas, Kalmah, Eluveitie, Korpiklaani, Equillibrium, Turisas, Alestorm, Dream Theater, Mick Gordon, Styx (Not metal, but still prog). Keyboard heavy stuff!
I respect but am not really into bands like Metallica, Sabaton, Manowar, Iron Maiden, Slipknot, etc. And I don't really consider metalcore/emo/screamo bands like Asking Alexandria to be proper metal, they're their own style I'm not really into.
For electronic music, stuff like trance, chillstep, and the occassional eurotrash are alright, but I'm much more into complextro (complex and heavy/intricate electro house), synthwave, drum 'n' bass, psytrance, hardstyle. Really epic melodies or basslines and deep bass (25hz and below) are a plus!
Some artists I'm really into are Pendulum, Perturbator, Carpenter Brut, Infected Mushroom, Knife Party, Prototype Raptor, Seadrake, Headhunterz, The Qemists, Haywyre, Auvic, Au5, zircon.
I'm not really into happy hardcore, chiptune, most dubstep, trap, or any of those weird pitch-sliding vocals XD
Other genres like celtic and folky stuff, classical, or other random things I didn't list before I'll list here.
Stuff like Blackmore's Night, Greg Maroney, Avriel and the Sequoias, Ronald Jenkees, Ninja Sex Party / TWRP / Starbomb, Guilhem Desq, Mannheim Steamroller, Markus Warner.
Video game soundtracks are awesome too, but that seems pretty common around here so I won't go into that now.
Not into rap or hip-hop or country.
So if you hadn't noticed, huge emphasis on synthesizer stuff. I could go on and on talking and listing bands for hours, and I'll probably update this now and then. Those of you who actually read this whole thing are the real MVPs haha. And sorry if I just don't like some of the same things as you, I'm not trying to talk down on anything! Finding others with similar tastes is the point here :3

Posted 6 years agoThis is possibly more for myself than anyone else, just to kinda get some things off my chest and open up a little, but I figure some of you may be interested in a little update of my life.
Well, I'm still alive and kicking! I dunno about you guys, but 2018 was one hell of a nightmare year for me. From endless bouts of heartbreak, drama, gossip, stressful jobs, fighting among roommates, losing friends and pets, and people just being really nasty and cruel in general, all the way to the passing of my dearly beloved brother
Arkhanis.. the entire year really destroyed me, and all sense of confidence and self-worth I once had. I won't go into all of that here. I've definitely changed a lot, and sometimes I worry not for the better. Some of you may have noticed I've been a lot quieter and more withdrawn. Depression is real, and stress really can make you ill.
But, such is life. And life goes on. You just have to keep moving forward with it. Live and let live. Chances are, the people being cruel are probably much worse off than you, and the best revenge is to live well, make the best of things regardless, and not be deterred in your own happiness. Think about the things that you do have, rather than the things you do not. Strive to become the person you wish to be.
And that's what I'm doing. Yesterday may have been hard, but it's done now. You never have to do it again. Each day is new and different in some way.
This last year has taught me a lot, about myself, about others, about what's important and what is less so. I've made mistakes, I have regrets, but most importantly I learned from them all. I'm thankful for the friends and family who stood by me and supported me though everything, even if I was sometimes neglectful and not entirely there. You all mean a lot to me! Especially my dear
Sedyana, who has been there for me and supported me through thick and thin, never giving up, no matter how bad things got. She's a real angel who isn't afraid to do what needs to be done. And even though I may have lost some friends, I've made wonderful new ones too, and I cherish you all <3
People can say some pretty hurtful and untrue things out of jealousy or to get a rise out of you, but the best way to combat that is to just keep being yourself and ignore them, let people see the real you for themselves and make their own judgements. Those who matter will see through the gossip and stand by you. I'm by no means perfect, but I aim to continue to improve myself, and hopefully be the goofy, playful, happy, and eeeee inspiring seadragon I used to be! I've discovered a lot about myself lately, both my dragonself and in this life as well. I have a much more positive outlook now, and I'm excited to see what the future has in store; I'm gonna grab life by the horns and enjoy it! Starting with a change of scenery, as I'm currently in the process of moving into my own house in a new, much more relaxing and nature-surrounded location.
This means lots of self-improvement as well! So expect to be seeing a lot more artwork from me, and (hopefully) music once I get my new place and get all my gear set up. I plan on doing a lot more travelling too, whether it be to see friends, visit amazing places (I just got back from New Zealand, and boy, do I recommend everyone make that a bucket list item!!!), or do my annual trips to BLFC, MFF, and Burning Man. I'm going to try to be a little more openly social and such too, but no promises, as I don't intend to stress myself out over that :P And of course, lots more raunchy seadragon smut! I'll try to upload a new pic every day or so to keep things fresh :3
So yeah, there you have it, a little insight to what's been up with this derpy dragon lately. If you have any comments or concerns or just wanna chat, please, don't be afraid to do so! The worst thing that can happen is for people to assume things without actually communicating for themselves.
And please, everybody, be good to each other and take care of yourselves. Life is too short. Let's all just enjoy our time together, alright? <3

Speedy Recovery
Posted 8 years agoJust a quick update to my last journal, Arkh is doing much much better! After I got here he started to recover much faster, his pneumonia has cleared up, jaundice is going away, and he's able to walk and talk and eat and everything! We're currently waiting to be released from the hospital :)

Friend in Intensive Care, Support Needed
Posted 8 years agoSome of you may know Arkhanis, he's been in the ICU for the last two weeks and his condition has been worryingly flaky at best..
Yesterday I received news that his condition has suddenly gotten much worse, with heavy pneumonia, liver failing, hematomas, possible tracheotomy,
Even worse, his family all lives overseas and has no way to make it to him anytime soon.
He's been basically alone and incapacitated for the last two weeks, with no way to communicate with anyone outside the hospital.. and things are getting very scary. :(
Arkh is a very dear friend to me, and I'm dropping everything to go and be there for him in his time of need, to remind him that we all are here for him and want him to get better. To make things more difficult, he's on the other side of the country from me.
I've already got money set aside for the flights and such, now I just need to find a place to stay while I'm there. Unfortunately, I can't stay at the hospital 24/7, and the only friends I know of live 1.5 hours away.
This is where I'm asking for help: I've found a place on Airbnb right next to the hospital that costs $50 a day, and short of pawning things, I have no way to earn the $422 needed to stay for about a week while still affording rent and bills at home.

Thanks to many of you wonderful, incredible folks, I've raised enough cash to secure a place to stay for the week I'll be up there. I really don't know what to say, I'm speechless, I'm going to stay with Arkh as often as I'm allowed to make sure he knows that we're all with him and that he has our support and love. Arkhanis, he's been in the ICU for the last two weeks and his condition has been worryingly flaky at best..Yesterday I received news that his condition has suddenly gotten much worse, with heavy pneumonia, liver failing, hematomas, possible tracheotomy,
Even worse, his family all lives overseas and has no way to make it to him anytime soon.
He's been basically alone and incapacitated for the last two weeks, with no way to communicate with anyone outside the hospital.. and things are getting very scary. :(
Arkh is a very dear friend to me, and I'm dropping everything to go and be there for him in his time of need, to remind him that we all are here for him and want him to get better. To make things more difficult, he's on the other side of the country from me.
This is where I'm asking for help: I've found a place on Airbnb right next to the hospital that costs $50 a day, and short of pawning things, I have no way to earn the $422 needed to stay for about a week while still affording rent and bills at home.
