General | Posted 13 years agoYeeeeee it's like brand new
I can play octodad so far. Everything else is still downloading lol.
I'm slowly getting SAI, Manga Studio 4, PS, GIMP and all those installed, activated and ready to go as well.
I just installed my drivers for my tablet and I'm pretty excited. Agh it's so pretty
Now for my sake, and to put it out there, it's going to be a stickly gaming and art computer. No chat clients, no music unless it's for a project, I have Iron installed to pull out refs I want/need, and most storage will be moved on a semi-monthly basis to external harddrives to keep my onboard harddrive uncluttered and roomy for games.
Also, I might pull out the CD drive since I can just install everything off external HD, and stick a TB hard drive in there. I'd need an adapter, but any money I spend after this is just for icing.
I saw somewhere these dell M4400s were MSRP for like, 1200 new.
I spent 270.
Lololoolololol frugal as fuck.
I'd also like to note, I recommended this same laptop to someone else on a budget whom also want to play video games on it.
They didn't go for it.
I did.
I put my money where my maw is. :v
So yeah, I got a few games. Anyone wants to add me on Steam I'm obviously ryliceracc

UPDAYETS
General | Posted 13 years agoSo tomorrow I have a Dell Precision M4400 coming in
http://www.dell.com/us/dfb/p/precision-m4400/pd
Yes it's old
but it's newer than my current laptop and has dedicated graphics
so
theoretically it should be able to tide me over until I am able to afford a custom build computer.
So I'm excited for that.
Means I'll be able to make bigger pictures, run Manga Studio 4 without having to shut all my programs down, and play video games at decent frame rates.
also
Tonight is one of those "Have conversations with people that would be unreasonably angry with you if you said something" in your head nights

Chasing dogs
General | Posted 13 years agoChasing dogs is hard as shit.
Then driving around looking for them for another 8 hours is tiring.
I suppose I'm not getting my high end gaming computer since my brother wants money for his dogs, which he should've bought smaller collars for.
Meh.

5 Lists of 5 things
General | Posted 13 years agoJerked from
alekz
The following are five lists of five things each that have been part of my life's experiences. All of them were in someway memorable enough that I think they are things that should be a part of everyone's life.
5 things everyone should like to eat
Just in my opinion anyway.
1-Steak.
duh.
2-Bacon.
3-Nestle Crunch bars.
4-something new
The literal flavor of life
5-Old things.
We all need our anchors.
5 Things I think Everyone should value
1-The urge to feed
I eat a lot of food, not because I'm a fat ass, (or maybe I am) but because I genuinely enjoy eating. I've gone down to some pretty, in my opinion, low body weight for a person my size. I'm 5'7", so usually MMA guys that size fight at 150. I was 168, and I was always hungry. I'm back up to 207, and still hungry. Many people I know personally either forget to eat, eat very light foods (Like popcorn) for meals, or just don't eat at all. It angers me to no end that they just don't eat some damn food if they're hungry.
I'm not just always hungry for food; I'm hungry for ideas, for creation, destruction. It was this insatiable hunger for the novel that drifted me from watching a ponified version of Two Best Friends Play, to watching the first two seasons of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
MLP, thus in turn, drove me to improve myself to be less of a lazy log and more of a gentleman and a much better friend. And in a few months, I saw vast improvements, though I sadly must say I am falling down on upping my standards once again.
People will want to eat, or learn new things, or see a change in the world, but will just sit there and do something else to forget about it. They don't go after it, and don't make anything happen with their hunger for something, for food, for change.
So I think people should learn how the urge to feed can help them grow, and help them improve instead of simply being an urge they need to fulfill.
2-Moderation
People live all in excess these days, and loose themselves in always having more. More food, more money, more stuff. This gross excess has turned people in spoiled and easily startled adult-childs, which if they don't have just what they want, they aren't happy. Like my dad, for example, is going through a breakup, and he's been bombed for literally the last month and a half. He recently decided adding a bottle of Jack would solve his problems.
More isn't always better, and in many cases, it's worse. People waste water, waste food and waste time. They see no value in it, and demand more simply to have more that they don't need.
It's balance, like drinking too much water will kill you, and not drinking enough will also kill you.
3-Food
Go look in the trash can. Tell me you eat everything and wipe the bowl that you've been given to eat. People, as aforementioned always have excess. So they don't see it as below them to throw away a half plate of food, or even an entire meal just because it's the wrong thing. Having been on many field trainings, and having many hungry days, I've grown to enjoy eating. Because the feeling of being full with any food is better than being picky and being hungry. It won't always be this nice. Someday, you'll have to hunt to get your chops even graced with something meaty. Food should be something to enjoy and partake in, instead of tossed away like the packaging it comes in.
4-Adversity
Folks like being comfortable. I know I do. But I find great pleasure in overcoming pain, cold, heat, snow, rain, sand and large hills. Why? It hardens your character, tempering it and toughening it, making you a better person. It also gives you a reference point on just how good you have it. Crawled through the mud, didn't eat for a couple of weeks, and carried a pack the entire time? It hurt, but now its over. Now you have an Iphone now and a comfortable little house. Your life doesn't suck currently.
Not only does it give a reference point to the quality of life, it also prepares you for more crap. Ok, well, I made it through that car crash. I could probably make it a week in the woods. I made it a week in the woods. Maybe this hurricane won't be so bad. Well, I made it through the hurricane, I'll make it anywhere else through anything else.
It builds confidence.
5-Trust
I think it goes without saying.
5 things I think everyone should do
1-Express themselves
Through art, music, words, whatever. They need to be able to convey their ideas instead of just mumbling words and trying to make it make sense.
2-Live independent of modern faculties
Much like the aforementioned adversity, it's a grounding experience.
3-Learn to cook
It's fun, has good results, and I'm tired of cooking meals for the family.
4-Be on time
Being late has never tickled my fancy. IT hasn't to the people that made history either.
5-Just do it.
People hesitate over small things, I know I have. If they just got up and started on it, a lot more would get done.
5 Things Everyone Should Watch
1- My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Do you genuinely know how to be a good friend? Probably not.
2: The Legends of the Guardians (the Guardians of Ga'Hoole)
The basic premise is belief in something that isn't there. I've read the book series and watched the movie, and having the confidence to believe in yourself is really a feat all its own.
3-The Experiment (documentary, movies)
Dr Phillip Zimbardo is one of my favorite psychologists. Mostly because I've seen his name enough to know who he is, and seen him enogh to know his face. But he also has brought to light one of the very fundamental basics in human behavior: Peer pressure, rules and environmental context.
In his study, Zimbardo gets a bunch of college students to volunteer as prison guards and inmates at a simulated prison. Its supposed to be a two week long study. So, 6 days later they shut down the experiment. Why? The guards had begun to mistreat the inmates, and the inmates had countered with escalating violence.
What does that have to do with something useful to know? Well, you'll see this pretty much everywhere else some atrocity has occurred between two different moral, ethic, or cultural backgrounds. Like the prisoner that those soldiers totally messed up a while back in the war in Abu Gharib, it parallels Zimbardo's study, almost exactly the same. Yes, my information is from a somewhat limited source, but it does allow you to infer how and why people can do such horrible things so often.
4-3:10 To Yuma
I take away from it that you should follow through with things, no matter what.
5-[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIqHhpX-pVs&feature=plcp]RU's The Damn Few (specifically, episode 5)[/url]
Shut up and watch it.
5 things everyone should have
1-Friends
Because they're awesome and having more than one at a time would be tits
2-Pocket knives
Because we lack claws
3-Their own stuff
Because loaning them entire set ups isn't any good
4-A Hobby
Because when you're loaded on time, retired, or don't have any classes to flunk, you can get a little crazy.
5-Boots.
The best kinda shoe there is.
"So those are my 5 lists of 5 things. Please ask me any questions you have, as I would love to discuss these lists. But I would love even more to see you post journals of your own five lists and your own five things. Especially if you have different kinds of lists entirely."
I really had a hard time coming up with these, because there's a lot of stuff that I've looked at, both in academia and in emergency services.
The reason I don't list like, books and stuff here like Alekz did in his journal of this is that I honestly have forgotten most books I've read.
I'm grounded in a way that seeing some things like a presentation on religion or certain movies don't impact me intellectually, like changing things hugely just because of the movie or whatever.
A nice example would be MLP. This show brought up more common things that a lot of people experience, a few of which I haven't. That brought me to the conclusion about some things, as well as tears after the second season.
I dunno, a lot of the stuff Alekz had in his made me think for the most part "Ah yeah, I see what you're saying. I coulda probably told you that. Yeah, I kinda knew people were already like that."
Mayhaps I'm too emotionally distanced from a many great things.
Or I'm smart enough to think I'm too dumb, or vice versa.

Metal Silhouette Keychain
General | Posted 13 years agoI have found the lack of Crystal Pony keychains disturbing,
Thusly, I have decided to make a Silhouette keychain for my my friend who needs more pony merch.
I'm going to make Applejack. Because they like them some AJ :v
I'm also going to incorporate the capability for a can opener into the design.
Because that'd be fucking metal.
I dunno, I could do it for other things as well I guess. Maybe I'd make a few more if it doesn't take too long to make, considering I have like, no facilities to cut metal.
Lulz.
I'll post pictures of it when I start making it.
It'll probably be 1/4 inch plate steel, depending on what I can find.
BUT FIRST

General | Posted 13 years agoIn the last 48 hours, I've drawn for 12 hours.
Mostly in the last 24 hours, from when this journal is posted to this time yesterday, has been 12 hours.
Just this weekend, I've drawn more than I have in the entirety of the time before this weekend.
Ahahaahah.
I fell asleep after I took a break from the last thing I drew
Oh man
Drawing the same 6 characters/poses/things gets to you after the third time.
Or fourth.
I've lost count.
Good news is, my ponies went from looking awesomer, to looking shitty.
Which means after a while, they'll look better than the first time they got awesomer.
I'm going to find something else to do, like game or something, cuz my wrist hurts.
I might also do random greeting cards.
Because it's a cool idea.
Yeah. My fucking eyes.

I DREW SO MUCH FOR SOME REASON
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm going to make a friend a card, which has magically motivated me to draw something like, 5 good ponies, and as you saw earlier, Spike from Cowboy Bebop.
Ya'll won't get to see the card, because I said so, but you'll see all my first round practice sketches.
Which are based off of screen caps.
But they look friggin nice. :v
I'm going to draw everything at least 2 more times, one more to get the rough of the card down,
then the actual card.
It's about 8 different individual poses, 5 different characters. That is, one character drawn 3 times, and the others drawn once.
I can math and draw! Bwahahaha.
Graphically, it's all hand drawn and inked.
But composition wise, it's gonna be teeeeeeets.
Also, did I mention I'm doing this all over the weekend and gonna try and send it out monday?
Yeah, that's right, screw Season 3 premiere. I'll watch it when we finish going through Season 1-2.
AND I'M GOING TO REWATCH COWBOY BEBOP ALL OVER AGAIN
And actually watch the movie.
Cuz I downloaded that too.
GET HYPE

Pony comic idea
General | Posted 13 years agoIt involves Fluttershy, another main character to be named, and a shit ton of animals.
I honestly would follow it.
I have about a page and a half of ideas down. Like, maybe 20 pages altogether.
All written with Ohne Dich playing in the background.
I would gladly make it. I need to practice ponies though. Backgrounds I'm half not shitty at.
I think it'd be a good comic. Maybe. Just maybe it'll be the motivation I need to learn how to draw ponies.
Because I have no confidence when it comes to ponies.

General | Posted 13 years agoWouldn't be hard would it?
I mean, something like those military battle shirts, that are basically cammie fabric on fire reterdent shirt base, which cuts down on weight and extra fabric and stuff and keeps you cooler.
I want to make like, an almost skin tight version with like, heavy duty Codura or cammie fabric lined with wicking material, which should keep things cool by making the sweat cooling more efficient.
It’d be two piece because reasons. But it’d be like, elastic on all the cuffs because sand is annoying everywhere.
Mandarin collar, reversed zipper, with a baffle behind it, also lined.
I’d make a nano suit but science :v also price. It’d cost a lot to develop a nano suit, then test it and redesign it. So a dumb tech rough use temperature regulation suit.
Running around in full clothing in 90 degree weather and almost being chilled. That’s my objective :v
I’ll have to read into it

So the one time I decide to draw poses and stuff
General | Posted 13 years agoI decide to take a quick break and look at youtube for random videos
And
All my USB drivers crash, or hang. Or something. My tablet doesn't work and my USB mouse don't work.
AHAHA.
I'll finish watching videos then draw on paper.
Because I can do traditional. :v

I WILL LEARN ALL THE THINGS
General | Posted 13 years agoProbably too many to be genuinely not entertaining.
So I figured out I have an electric keyboard that I could someday turn into a MIDI controller.
So there’s piano.
Cost effective solution to learning to play an instrument.
Not what I wanted, but due to budget restraints, electric piano it is.
Whoot.
Also taking a solid look at my time expenditures. I do have way too much time on my hands, but, most of it’s taken up by tumblr.
I seriously hate tumblr for that.
Another thing that’s been here and there better than ever is art. I’m on my second or third week of doing art and I think I can keep it up. Yay art.
I have SAI now, and a lot of ideas, so should get down doing it.
I’ve also been doing a lot of cooking. I made an almost pan casserole the other night and it was scrumptious. I have a lovely cast iron skillet that’s been cooking up everything from ground beef, bacon, sweet peppers, and eggs to patties, hash browns and steak.
I also want to try and make some music on what is it…Reaper. Because it’s a neat program and I should figure out how to use it. I still don’t know shit about making music digitally, but I’ve figured out how to install OSs and wipe programs and a bunch of other stuff, so why not. :v
I think in the next week, I’ll start up a training regimen, since my ultimate goal is to get into something a little bit tougher than renting, and do some more good in the world, directly. I’m thinking of incorporating AOM’s woodsman’s workout into it, as well as other non-gym geared work outs with the shit I have in the back yard.
I have two computers going now, one for arts, and the other for music and movies. Not utilizing the one for media as much, but I should, so I can concentrate on actually making art instead of browsing tumblr.
I might hold off on that Tim Burton style thing for a while probably, might not even do it. I like the idea, I just don’t like that I’ll watch something like 30 movies at least twice each to get it down pat. So meh.
Computer wise, I’m going to save up, after buying my brother his gun and paying off some college ass pain money, and buy me a amped the fuck up gaming rig for music, art, and of course games. I’d love to finally be able to play Duke Nukem and Deus Ex without no world rendering or serious lag, respectively. And actually run GMod and all my other Source games on high res with no lag. Gersh.
As for the garden, I think it’s done for now. The main plots have been rebuilt, and the other one I was going to build is being hampered by my grandpa, so adsfg. It looks much nicer now, and all the plots are square, fairly evened out and look a bit better. if there’s another day when the wind dies down , I might go out there and start on the big plot, or the far plot rebuild.
I haven’t been able to find coal locally, at least online, and ain’t no folks around willing to help me find it, so the forge is pretty much at a standstill till I find a fuel source.
MV is…kicking. Weakly. I need to put more effort into it, since John has a job and the other guy is busy with school. I have something like three reviews lined up, all tools evaluated, but nothing written down, nor pictures taken.
I’m a little better at finishing things, I cleaned my room and such, organized my desk again and so far haven’t just wasted an entire day. The days I do have low productivity I still do at least something.
Learning language will probably one of my lower priorities, since I’ll be teaching myself, and it’s not like finding things on language are free. Or accessible for that matter. Maybe I’ll take German next semester if I’m paid up and they offer it.
So yeah, that’s my ambitions in a post.
I think I’ll take a nap, watch a movie and draw some arts. All of the arts.
So many arts. @_@

I’M SITTING IN MY ROOM
General | Posted 13 years agoAnd aside from the Needles reference, not much else.
I sit here to draw. To tumble, watch stuff online and whatnot.
My couch has my GR2, some clothes and computer speakers on it. I decided to not move them since I don’t usually sleep on my couch anyway.
I sleep on my chair.
I feel and it seems I should be doing more than just drawing and floating around on the internet. I’m not really sure if my arts improving, but I am getting a lot of practice done, at least with some things.
I dunno, maybe I just feel lonely since I haven’t gotten to watch MLP with my friend for the last couple of days, and they’ve been busy so I haven’t had much contact in text form anyway.
I feel like I’m in the same boat as my recently retired dad:
Throwing bottle caps at the wall

I'm Supposin'
General | Posted 13 years agoI might do a Tim Burton style study.
Not because I want to draw things “Creepy” or odd looking
but because it just grinds my shit when I see stuff I don’t think is representative of Tim Burton’s style.
I find myself closer to Tim Burton because I also wore blue glasses, at one time or another

General | Posted 13 years agoSo Season 3 finally has a set show date.

Gonna put together a new drawing setup
General | Posted 13 years agoIt took me four hours to organize my harddrive after installing XP, which took about an hour and a half. I watch some random movie off netflix on my phone since I can still use the wifi.
I ordered a charging cable for that laptop as well, paid and done. Just gotta wait for it to have my new set up. And of course update all the drivers and stuff on my XP laptop so I can use wifi instead of the ethernet cable. It’ll basically run like a desktop, no back up power supply so when the power cuts, it looses all information.
I’m going to use it as the back part of my set up, behind my Vista laptop, which I’ll use just for drawing, at least to a degree. I’ll use the XP for video and music playing and internet surfing so I don’t bog down my Vista and keep it in somewhat decent non laggy order, and just use the internet on it when I need to upload stuff.
It’s going to be a slightly awkward setup, since my XP will be behind my vista and I’ll only be able to see like half the screen or summat, I’ll figure it out. I usually do.
But yyyaaayy two computers

Shit it's saturday
General | Posted 13 years agoI must’ve slept my entire week away not doing anything, using that I was healing my arm from cutting that padlock over the weekend.
I think that I still have caffiene in my system from Mon-wednesday, I was downing about three to four cups worth of coffee beverage a day. I know some people have more than that in one day, but I generally don’t drink soda, tea, coffee, or anything else but water, and I was drinking just coffee product.
It’s going away though. Yay. I’ve been lazy as the dickens, but I have significantly produced more art. Probably some fancy statistic to show I produced more art this week than the entire year of 2012. :v
Saturdays are supposed to be more or less my off day, like sunday, but on saturday, so I can start getting into working on sunday so monday won’t be so…Monday-y.
It’s worked so far, but not having an actual work schedule to stick to, it’s kinda a moot plan. I will get back to working on stuff tomorrow, because I’ll probably fall asleep today randomly because I got up at 0200, after falling asleep around 0020.
I am best at subsistence sleepies. I’m thinking of going out to the garden and just cleaning stuff, maybe close up the holes where the wasps have their nests if it’s windy and cold enough, though I might just jump on one of the plots I have to rebuild and throw down some hay for winter on the ones I’m done with.
I’ll probably end up working on the store room we’re making, out of my brother’s old repurposed room. That’s just moving stuff and ripping out the mouse crapped on carpet. Not hard, just a lot of stuff to move.
Maybe if I can finish that room this weekend, I can hack out the rest of the garden by this time next week.
I have plenty of time for art, I’m going to try and manage at least two new files a day, one a doodle, and the other one a doodle or sketch practice, or like, full blown colored picture, or a study. Probably just going to try and do lots of studies though. They’re really helping, at least within that study.
I have a couple of reviews for MV, though I might just do one because of how in depth I need to go with it. My cohorts are currently occpado, with school, getting into school and getting jobs.
What I want MV to become is something like roosterteeth.com (it’s kinda SFW, mostly they just cuss a lot, and it’s about video games) where they out out video game vids and basically can cuss, say whatever they want and still get amazing feedback from the gaming community, which I could do if I partner with someone that wants to come up with a gaming blog, whom I’m also putting together a picture for. :v
It’s great thought because I really know them. Lol. That’s another reason I want a business degree, is so I don’t run it into the ground after the first real profits are made.
Anyway, Rooster Teeth has a sub group called Achievement Hunter. They basically dick around playing video games, and anything that’s not them playing video games is them being drunk and screwing around, or not drunk and screwing around. And they get paid for that. Which I think is freaking amazing, and I really want MV to be like that, but with gear instead.
But not like say, Nutnfancy, or Equip2Endure, one being respectable company, and the other a really annoying guy with flappy face. Both are done out of pocket, thought E2E runs their own classes and holds events, so I’m not really sure what’s going on with their program. But I’d like to do something like that. It’d be tits to get paid to get drunk, review gear, and camp for a living as a job and career.
The rest of the stuff I have to do is just random odds and ends, like building sunglasses, or carving a wooden table.
Other than that, I’m eeking towards one goal of having nothing to do but read an draw by december, and barely inching forward to drawing ponies for november when season 3 is slated to come out.
Although, spanish has kinda went to crap, at least reading the program booklet, but I’ve been picking up words though context on the beaner brony blogs I’m following, although that’s not an acceptable alternative to actively engaging and learning to spanish.
It still bugs me I don’t know spanish and my grandpa is a spanish teacher.
I’d ask him to teach me, but he’s been a massive asshole as of late, thinks I’m incompetent or trying to poison him or some shit, and then my dad’s spazzing out because he has to go to court, so he stress kicked my step mom out of the house, and my brother is still a dick, and I’m considering not even getting him a gun.
I don’t know about my brother, but I know my little kid brother is getting some games for his birthday. Which is right after mine, next week. :v
