I has a week to finish putting stuff in a spreadsheet for an assignment, specifically I need to get solver to work and get another sheet finished. For the second sheet, I have a list of suburbs and postcodes. I need excel formulas for how to gather the suburbs and postcodes together and give me a number for how many times each combination occurs.

I'm not asking anyone to do it for me, granted if you really love using excel and such then I'll gladly give you the file, but the main thing I need is assistance with especially the second thing

I know this probably is not the -best- place to ask about this but hey, a lot of us here are nerds so surely someone knows more about it than me XD

Background informations: Currently for sketching on my mac, I use a program called Sketchbook Pro, which is good for sketching so far (as the name might suggest) and rough/flat colouring. Brush-wise though the choices are...limited at best. When the ipod touch version of a program has more brushes, that's slightly worrying to me XD I can't run SAI, so I've gone and looked for some alternatives. I have a copy of Photoshop thanks to my IT teacher last year, but beyond adding effects like the plastic-looking things on the ravepants art and removing the background from lineart, it's not as smooth as I'd like.

So I went and got a trial copy of Corel Painter Essentials 4 for mac, so far it's looking pretty decent, but I'd like to know if, for $100 or less, I could get something -better- for OS X...perhaps something that isn't 3 years old but does pretty much the same? XD

And yes, V4 is the newest Painter Essentials.

Just for anyone who hasn't seen my page before, a lot of the art that will be appearing over the next few weeks is NOT by me. Some of it I'll have coloured, most will be by other people. I really encourage you to go watch the original artists as well and definitely favourite their upload of the file if it still exists, they did the work on making it and they deserve the recognition for it =3

So since getting a tablet I've been colouring some artwork of my fursona, and rather enjoying it too =3 based on the response to a previous journal, I've decided that starting on...Monday, I will be submitting one artwork of me (by other artists) per day that a) I'm allowed to and b) that I actually want to show the world XD I plan to do so in close to chronological order of the original uploads. Some are livestream screenshots also, these will be posted directly to my scraps only because the image quality of livestream is...rather poor XD but yeah there's a lot of art to upload, some not seen before, some seen in a few places already. I won't be uploading the sketch versions of things I've coloured though. Might also upload art of Katana and of Mike =3

When I actually do my own art, that's not gonna be counted in the 'one art a day' thing, and if you want to see art that's -only- by me, my inkbunny is linked in my profile XD that'll be only artwork that I've done from scratch, or collaborations that aren't just me colouring a lineart XD

In doing this I'll also be doing a little experiment of sorts, each upload will be at a different time of day, some with and some without thumbnails. I plan on finding out whether thumbnail or no thumbnail generates more views and what times of day are better, also what actually works as a thumbnail XD

Still working on trying different styles of head when drawing, not quite happy with how I'm drawing them still >.<

I have a question...specifically those who have been to TAFE, or perhaps both university and TAFE.

I find myself right now facing a year off university (not by choice, this is kinda a followup to http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1553031/), and I don't want a year off schooling altogether. So, I'm considering attending TAFE, as you might've guessed...so could anyone who currently attends it tell me what it's actually about and such? Since I kinda have...pretty much no idea whatsoever about it >.< XD

background: if I don't pass at least 3 classes out of 4 this semester (and believe me I'm trying ._.) then I can't attend university in this state for a year (according to the letter I got from my university), I don't want to be stranded for a year, so I want a backup plan and I'm thinking TAFE could be that backup plan instead of full-time work for now. Also, for those who are crazy and haven't yet clicked to that journal and ignored this paragraph, got a copy of diskwarrior running on my macbook pro as I type, everything but /Library and /System is on an external drive. Here's hoping all goes well when the dvd actually finally boots o.o

about the macbook - while it's been fucking up my backup drive every time, disk warrior fixed that. Backing up is going slow but the point is it's happening, currently rescuing my disconcertingly large collection of furry art XD after that is libraries and other files scattered around, then I can either wait to try disk warrior off a cd, or I can just format and reinstall (after of course confirming all those months worth of adium and skype chats survived ._.)

So for once I'm on FA from my old iMac, while my shiny macbook pro is loading the install CD ...I'm really starting to think that rainy weather fucks it over, last friday it had a kernel panic at the end of the day (took about 30 seconds for it to actually do that whole 'screen greys out before saying you need to use the power button' thing that normally takes 3-10 seconds for it), and today it's just telling me to fuck off and die apparently with some random hard drive issue I only noticed because my tablet was lagging with clicks...

soon as I've got it fixed Imma format my backup drive and make a fresh shiny new backup in time machine so I don't have to worry about this in future ._.

in the time since I started writing this, I've booted to the DVD and run a disk verification...within 5 seconds I got "Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk." ...fan-fucking-tastic...

In other news, the debate went well, concluding speaker at least got his presentation written up in the 90 minutes before the debate (the rest of us had it done 3-4 weeks ago) and it's turned into a little experiment for myself to find out whether the final essay for the course is generally better when done by people who have a video of their debate vs people without a video of it. I'm the first at my uni to do this in the course so yeah XD

...now I'd best be off to see what the fuck these error messages I'm seeing mean ._.


And an update: looks like my only option is to back up 310gigs through boot camp the long slow tedious way and make it shiny and new again -.- and one weekend to do it...and as a bonus I probably have work tomorrow =D shit >.<
